Metagame SV Monotype Metagame Discussion [Indigo Disk]

This is just plain untrue. A scizor ban was considered at one point, specifically because of ice (rock had ways of dealing with it that it would run anyway, it's main problem was being the worst type at the time, mostly due to inconsistent accuracy, being outsped by the entire meta sans aero and...

Metagame SV Monotype Metagame Discussion [Indigo Disk]

I absolutely do not give a shit whether dragon remains the best type, and I never saw Gouging Fire as the pokemon that directly caused this being the case. The fact that people used this as their main deciding factor is extremely stupid in my opinion, though. It remaining in the meta means it is...

Metagame SV Monotype Metagame Discussion [Indigo Disk]

As dragon is, and by a wide margin, the most popular type to use on ladder currently, and is almost always running Gouging Fire, I would not recommend using bug (or grass) to attempt to climb ladder, as the matchup is an autoloss unless your opponent misplays or you get lucky with hax.

While bulwark is less common than standard set you named, I have seen it often enough for it to not be discarded as a possibility. Also gouging fire outspeeds and OHKOes scarf kleavor after 1 DD and Stone axe does not OHKO. There's also a difference between a bad and an impossible matchup caused...

Metagame SV Monotype Metagame Discussion [Indigo Disk]

After playing extensively against the DLC2 additions, I can confidently say that bug has absolutely 0 reasonable answers to gouging fire. Gamefreak has once again decided that the bug type should not have access to special-sided ground, rock or dragon coverage (ancient power yanmega xd), so...

Other Pre-DLC SV Monotype Metagame Discussion

Your argument is terrible. You talk about counterplay, but the way you play vs spore and dire claw is completely different. Spore is guaranteed to put your pokemon to sleep, so if you don't have something that can absorb powder moves, and can't stop it otherwise, you switch to the pokemon you're...

Other Pre-DLC SV Monotype Metagame Discussion

Frosmoth still suffers horribly from an abysmal movepool, having no way to touch steel types (which is becoming increasingly common on the ladder due to having its immunity core back) and only having flying moves as neutral coverage vs fire (air slash over hurricane as you'll most likely be in...

Some interesting and fun information! Hey guys! Did you know that a curse rest unaware dondozo invalidates bug in monotype? You do now! Here are some calcs: 252 SpA Volcarona Giga Drain vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Dondozo: 158-188 (31.3 - 37.3%) -- 83.4% chance to 3HKO +1 0 Atk Dondozo Liquidation...

So essentially it's a life orb except instead of 10% recoil on attacks, it only works until you switch out the first time (and can't be knocked off by the 6 or so pokemon who get the move + acrobatics shenanigans)

Pokemon Scarlet & Violet - 18th Nov 2022! **OFFICIAL INFO ONLY**

You do realise that the checks to the teratyped pokemon change when they teratype right? in case of volcarona, assuming it teratypes into something like ground it loses a third on it's fire move's power (and bug if that's relevant) gains a different set of weaknesses, which can be exploited by...

    Metagame Inheritance

It took a while to get through all these sets posted, and holy goddamn are some of them amazing. Anyway, here's my contribution: A check for (almost) everything in the game. Typhlosion (Escavalier) @ Assault Vest Ability: Flash Fire EVs: 248 HP / 252 Atk / 8 SpD Brave Nature IVs: 0 Spe - Gyro...

well, considering that the filler move is more often than not will-o-wisp, i'm not sure i agree with the physical threats you posted (especially with SD terrakion being setup), as they can't even reliably get through sableye itself, but i'll be sure to keep a lookout for any matches where types...

Sorry if I'm causing headaches to the monotype OMs "council", but I would also like to address another issue, namely sableye in STABmons. Sableye is a fairly common defensive pokemon in STABmons, who, with the combination of prankster and the skills topsy-turvy, parting shot and recover + filler...

Hi. I would like to make an appeal for unbanning genesect in the mono AAA format. While it's true that genesect was banned way back during the gen VI era mono AAA, i feel like it was done on a mostly speculative basis on what it was capable of back in the day, and was a slightly biased...

    Metagame SM Monotype Metagame Discussion

I am also of the opinion that calling for bans before the ladder is actually released on anything not blatantly broken is ridiculous. That being said, i do believe that there is no need for waiting to see if pheromosa is broken in the new meta on ladder, and can be banned before release. With...

    Metagame SM Monotype Metagame Discussion

After having gone through all the status moves to check what the z- ones do, there doesn't seem to be any others that look particularly broken. There is the slight problem of some moves granting evasion buffs when used, but that should have little consequence. There are a couple interesting ones...

The Z-moves seem to also be an interesting addition here. Taking a brief look at what could be notably advantageous, i noticed something interesting: Z-Belly Drum: fully heals the user, then uses Belly Drum Say, hypothetically, an azumarill uses Normalium Z over sitrus berry to Z-belly drum...

    Monotype AAA Mega-Thread

A genesect can't put a big dent in anything unless the u-turn damage is boosted. One of my very first points was that bug is offensively a bad typing. It's super effective against a scant few pokemon, and in case of an u-turn, you can immediately tell what the set is based on damage dealt and...

    Monotype AAA Mega-Thread

This is a post focusing entirely on genesect on bug and NOT on steel. While I agree with the other 3 in regards to AAA, I believe you are grossly overestimating the power and unpredictability of genesect in this format. The main reason Genesect was banned in OU was that it's ability, being of...
