Misty Terrain abilities: Misty bliss, Fairy lockdown, Misty damp

OK everyone, sorry for the delay. You guys have been wonderful contributing to this and honestly you deserve better, so I will endeavour to be more involved from now on. The Votes are in! The results are as follows:

Bug: Pollen Shield, Pollinator Zeal, Beehive Call
Dark: Disenchanted, Dirty Fighting, Murky Cover
Dragon: Tyranny, Teeth Bared, Aura of Destruction
Electric: Electric Charger, Overcharge
Fairy: Misty Bliss, Misty Damp, Magic Essence

Water Terrain: Sea Terrain
Steel Terrain: Metallic Terrain

Overall I was very impressed with the suggestions. For Dragon, Electric and Fairy it was a tie so I chose the ones I felt were the best. Honestly though, they were all good, so it was a tough choice. You can see the votes here. For the next slate we will be resubmitting the Flying Type Terrain. We will also be submitting abilities for the following terrain types: Fighting, Fire, Ghost, Grass & Ice. As the Flying Terrain is being resubmitted, I thought I'd save the abilities until that was decided.

As there were only 3 votes for the Bug Terrain abilities, you may now vote for 1 of own abilities, if you wish.

Happy posting, and happy new year!

Double post woo!

Name: Windy Terrain
Type: Flying
Message: Strong winds blew over the battlefield
Windy Surge: Archeops
Z Move: +1 Speed
Nature Power: Hurricane
Secret Power: Air Slash animation, 20% chance to Confuse
Effect 1: Flying-type attacks gain 1.5X power
Effect 2: Attacks from grounded Pokemon have 0.8X accuracy
Attack: Tornadus(T), Staraptor, Pidgeot, Salamence
Seed: Windy Seed
Seed Effect: +1 Defence
Competitive use: Gives Archeops an ability that doesn't suck, is also a major help for Fly spam teams as now their attacks are even more powerful, and the aerial Pokemon get a slight evasion boost.

Chakra Terrain abilities

Name: Energy Boost
Effect: Doubles Speed inside Chakra Terrain
Pokemon: Buzzwole, Hitmonlee (instead of Limber), Machamp (instead of Steadfast)
Competitive use: Simple Speed boosting ability, particularly useful for these Pokemon as all of them have underwhelming Speed.

Name: Relentless
Effect: During Chakra Terrain, user's Attacks bypass Protect and its variants as well as Substitute
Pokemon: Lucario (instead of Steadfast), Conkeldurr (instead of Iron Fist), Infernape, Mega Gallade
Competitive use: Hate Protect spam? Who doesn't - now you can smash straight through it!

Fiery Terrain abilities

Name: Burning Spirit
Effect: User's attacks gain 1.5X power during Fiery terrain (stacks with STAB and other modifiers), but they can only use attacks
Pokemon: Arcanine (instead of Justified), Volcanion
Competitive use: Lets the users hit incredibly hard in Fiery Terrain, and they didn't have much of a status movepool to begin with

Name: Controlled Burning
Effect: During Fiery Terrain, all the user's damage dealing moves have 100% accuracy
Pokemon: Victini, Moltres
Competitive use: Victini can now sling around perfectly accurate Infernos! Moltres can do the same with Hurricanes.

Ominous Terrain abilities

Name: Trickster
Effect: If the user's attacks can cause non volatile status (e.g. Flamethrower's burn) they always will
Pokemon: Chandelure (instead of Flame Body), Jellicent (instead of Damp), Gengar, Rotom (base)
Competitive use: Chandelure and Jellicent now basically have STAB Will-O-Wisps in the form of Fire Blast and Scald respectively, while Gengar has a STAB Poison Powder in Sludge Wave and Rotom has STAB Thunder Wave in the form of Thunderbolt. Combined with monstrously strong Hexes, and the foe's inability to recover HP, stall is going to have a hell of a rough time.

Grassy Terrain abilities

Name: Flora Force
Effect: +2 boost to either Attack or Special Attack on switch in during Grassy Terrain, depending on which is higher. If it's a tie, Attack will be raised.
Pokemon: Mega Sceptile, Virizion, Shaymin
Competitive use: Makes mega Sceptile a veritable force of destruction, as it's the second fastest Pokemon in the tier. Virizion no longer has to set up to hit hard, and they all appreciate the power boost provided by Grassy Terrain

Frosty Terrain abilities

Name: Frost Guard
Effect: User heals 1/8th HP at the end of every turn (stacks with other methods of healing), and takes 25% less damage from super effective moves during Frosty Terrain
Pokemon: Regice, Avalugg (instead of Ice Body), Cryogonal
Competitive use: Essentially Poison Heal and Solid Rock in one, with the drawback that it only takes place in Frosty Terrain. Makes defensive Ice types suck less.

Name: Cold Hearted
Effect: During Frosty Terrain, user gains +1 Attack, Special Attack and Speed at the cost of -1 Defence and Special Defence.
Pokemon: Kyurem, Articuno, Mamoswine (instead of Snow Cloak)
Competetive use: Ice is the glass cannon type right? So it makes sense to give them a glass cannon ability. While this is riskier to use, it does potentially allow them to sweep late game, giving them effectively a Band, Specs and Scarf for the price of -1 Defence and Special Defence.

Name: Zephyr Terrain
Type: Flying
Message: Strong winds blow across the battlefield.
Zephyr Surge: Pidgeot (over Keen Eye)
Z Move: +1 Speed
Nature Power: Air Slash
Secret Power: Air Cutter animation, 20% chance to lower Speed by 1 stage
Effect 1: Flying-type moves do 50% more damage.
Effect 2: Attacks used by grounded Pokemon targeting airborne Pokemon cannot activate their secondary effects.
Attack: Pidgeot, Articuno, Zapdos, Moltres, Swellow, Altaria, Staraptor, Sigilyph, Swanna, Tornadus, Talonflame
Seed: Windy Seed
Seed Effect: +1 Special Attack
Competitive use: Pidgeot's viability (and maybe Mega Pidgeot's as well) could be greatly increased with its new Zephyr Surge, which not only boosts its Flying-type attack power but also protects it and other airborne Pokemon from opposing grounded Pokemons' move secondary effects.

Chakra Terrain abilities:
Name: Inner Peace
Effect: Defense and Special Defense are increased by 50% when Chakra Terrain is active.
Pokemon: Machamp (over Steadfast), Hariyama (over Thick Fat), Throh (over Inner Focus), Sawk (over Inner Focus), Chesnaught, Hawlucha (over Limber)
Competitive use: Increased bulk could help with setting up, and it especially helps the already bulky ones like Hariyama and Chesnaught with their walling capabilities.

Name: Concentration
Effect: Fighting-type moves do 50% more damage when Chakra Terrain is active.
Pokemon: Poliwrath (over Damp), Hitmonlee (over Limber), Hitmonchan (over Keen Eye), Hitmontop (over Steadfast), Lucario (over Steadfast), Croagunk and Toxicroak (over Anticipation), Gallade
Competitive use: An ability to make up for the Chakra Terrain's lack of Fighting-type boost. Extra power never hurt, especially for the Pokemon that don't have the best offensive stats, like Poliwrath and Hitmonchan.

On mobile rb so can't do the proper format, but I'll resubmit Lava Diver from way back when I submited Fiery Terrain, with a slight deboof for balance

Magmortar gains Lava Diver. This boosts the mon's Speed and Sp. Atk by 1.3% under Fiery Terrain

If that is too much, make it 1.2

Name: Nimbus Terrain
Type: Flying
Message: "Nimbus Clouds covered the battlefield"
Metallic Surge: Swellow
Z Move: Speed +1
Nature Power: Air Slash
Secret Power: Brave Bird animation; 30% chance to raise Speed by one stage
Effect 1: Flying-type moves from airborne Pokémon gain 50% power.
Effect 2: Normal-type moves from airborne Pokémon become Flying-type.
Learned by: Pidgey, Pidgeotto, Pidgeot, Spearow, Fearow, Doduo, Dodrio, Articuno, Zapdos, Moltres, Dragonite, Togetic, Lugia, Ho-Oh, Taillow, Swellow, Swablu, Altaria, Salamence, Rayquaza, Togekiss, Shaymin, Sigilyph, Ducklett, Swanna, Tornadus, Thundurus, Landorus, Fletchling, Fletchinder, Talonflame, Noibat, Noivern.
Seed: Nimbus Seed
Seed Effect: Speed +1
Competitive Use: Altaria itself is rather mediocre even with the terrain, but it can support the likes of Dragonite, Landorus-T, and Noivern and make them absolute menaces.

Name: Deep Concentration
Pokémon: Meditite & Medicham, Riolu & Lucario (over Inner Focus), Gallade, Cobalion, Terrakion, Virizion, Keldeo.
Description: The user gets stronger under Chakra Terrain by increasing their focus.
Effect: When under Chakra Terrain, always gets a critical hit with Fighting- or Psychic-type moves.
Competitive Use: Fighting spam?

Name: Piercing Cold
Pokémon: Snorunt & Glalie (over Inner Focus), Glaceon, Froslass
Description: The user makes use of the Frosty Terrain beneath it to release Ice-type moves capable of denting even the sturdiest of Pokémon.
Effect: When under Frosty Terrain, user's Ice-type moves deal double damage to any Fire-, Water-, Steel-type or any Pokémon with Thick Fat.
Competitive Use: Makes Glaceon impossible to switch into, but the again, getting the proper terrain support by stacking Stealth Rock weakness and being outsped and revenge killed by virtually anything makes this strategy rather unappealling.

Name: Leafy Shield
Pokémon: Chikorita, Bayleaf, & Meganium (Over Leaf Guard), Leafeon
Description: The user makes use of the Grassy Terrain beneath it to protect itself from Super Effective moves.
Effect: When under Grassy Terrain, The user takes half damage from Bug-, Fire-, Ice-, Flying-, and Poison-type moves.
Competitive Use: Make Meganium and Leafeon good? They can definately last a couple more turns without weaknesses.

Name: Elevated Terrain
Type: Flying
Message: "The battlefield started to float!"
Elevated Surge: Unfezant
Z Move: Attack +1
Nature Power: Aeroblast Air Slash
Secret Power: Air Cutter animation, 30% chance to cause the opponent to float (what Telekinesis does)
Effect 1: All Pokemon are immune to entry hazards and Leech Seed.
Effect 2: Damaging moves that take 2 turns to use now only take 1 turn when used by Floating Pokemon (Flying-types + Levitaters). This includes Dig, Dive, Sky Attack, Fly, Razor Wind, Skull Bash, Bounce, Solar Beam/Blade, and a bunch more I'm probably forgetting.
Attack: All Pokemon legal in Sky Battles that can learn TMs + Trumbeak (Toucannon technically gets it through Trumbeak) and Musharna.
Seed: Elevation Seed
Seed Effect: Defense +1
Competitive Use: Ever wanted to fly? The battlefield did. And now, with Elevated Terrain, it can! With Elevated Terrain, the battlefield floats turning the battle into a makeshift Sky Battle, but, you know, you can actually stand. Because the elevated terrain, certain grounded field effects no longer work, as they are on the regular ground. This includes all entry hazards, including Stealth Rock, as well as other grounding effects like Leech Seed. Thanks to being in the sky, Pokemon that are already accustomed to an aerial battle can now execute moves with blinding speed. This allows them to use moves that previously took awhile to use, like Sky Attack, to be used instantly. This helps Flying-types that can't learn Brave Bird deal more damage, since they really need it, like Aerodactyl, Fearow, and the Pokemon with the Surge ability, Unfezant. Elevated Surge was given to Unfezant to help mitigate it's biggest flaw, being that it has no good Flying moves, as well as to make it not outclassed by other Flying-types like Dodrio and Staraptor.

Name: Foggy Terrain
Type: Flying
Message: Foggy clouds descended upon the battlefield!
Foggy Surge: Tornadus-Incarnate
Z Move: Special Attack +1
Nature Power: Air slash
Secret Power: Gust animation; chance to lower target's Speed 1 stage
Effect 1: Electric type moves used against airborne Pokemon have their power halved (inspired by fog in Mystery Dungeon)
Effect 2: All Status moves are set to 50% accuracy against airborne Pokemon
Attack: Altaria, Articuno, Landorus, Mantine, Swanna, Thundurus, Tornadus
Seed: Foggy Seed
Seed Effect: Special Defense +1
Competitive Use: Defensive buff for Flying types, allowing them to stand against Electrics; also they will be less likely to get worn down by status moves or suffer negative efects.
Name: Flawless Fighting
Pokémon: Gallade, Infernape, Kommo-o (instead of Overcoat)
Effect: The Pokemon's stats cannot be lowered by using its own moves in Chakra Terrain
Competitive Use: Pokemon can freely spam high-powered moves like Close Combat, Clanging Scales and Overheat without any drawbacks (I wish there was a non-Uber Pokemon with Psycho Boost so I could give it this ability)

Name: Heat Rush
Pokémon: Emboar, Magmortar, Rapidash (instad of Run Away), Typhlosion
Effect: Doubles the Pokemon's Speed stat in Fiery Terrain
Competitive Use: Makes a standard terrain sweeper that's useful against offense

Name: Magma Shell
Pokémon: Torkoal (instead of Shell Armor), Turtonator
Effect: Boosts the Pokemon's Special Defense stat by 50% in Fiery Terrain
Competitive Use: Makes Shell Smash set-up easier

Name: Soul Burn
Pokémon: Chandelure (instead of Flame Body), Delphox, Drifblim (instead of Aftermath), Houndoom (instead of Unnerve)
Effect: The Pokemon's special attacks drain 50% HP of dealt damage in Fiery Terrain
Competitive Use: Increases longevity of frail sweepers

Name: Ominous Sneak
Pokémon: Decidueye, Mismagius
Effect: Doubles the Pokemon's Speed stat in Ominous Terrain
Competitive Use: Makes a standard terrain sweeper that's useful against offense

Name: Flower Blossom
Pokémon: Florges, Roserade
Effect: Doubles the Pokemon's Speed stat in Grassy Terrain
Competitive Use: Makes a standard terrain sweeper that's useful against offense

Name: Herbal Sprout
Pokémon: Exeggutor, Exeggutor-Alola, Lurantis, Sceptile, Trevenant (instead of Frisk)
Effect: Сreates another Herb after one is used in Grassy Terrain
Competitive Use: Mainly meant for Power herb, which gives infinite 1-turn Solar Beams, Solar Blades and Phantom Forces. You could also use it for White Herb Draco Meteors and Leaf Storms.

Name: Melting
Pokémon: Avalugg (instead of Own Tempo), Cryogonal
Effect: Restores 1/8 of full HP every turn and gives immunity to status in Frosty Terrain; but loses 1/16 of full HP every turn in Fiery Terrain
Competitive Use: Provides additional healing to some defensive Pokemon

Im excited for this pet mod
also how much we need to wait for playing?
You can already play on pokeliga.psim.us but without any new abilities yet, and without Flying-type terrain.

AquaticPanic since we are making Fiery Terrain abilities, I need to specify whether you agree to some changes to it discussed after testing:
1) Need to change stat raised by Seed, since Atk Seed Lucha is overwhelming
2) Probably need to change damage to 1/16 instead of 1/8 like Sandstorm and Hail
3) Make boost to Fire moves from Sun and Fiery Terrain not stack

Name: Invisibility Cloak
Effect: On the first turn this Pokemon spends in Ominous Terrain it takes no damage from all attacks.
Pokemon: Mismagius (as a hidden ability), Dusknoir (as a second ability), Froslass (as a second ability), Decidueye (as a second ability)
Competitive use: This ability is basically Disguise that works only in Ominous terrain, but can be used multiple times (if the terrain is reactivated or the Pokemon with the ability switches out and in again). Mismagius could probably use this one free turn to set up Nasty Plot, Dusknoir could stop sweepers with Haze, Froslass could set up more Spikes or burn something with Will-O-Wisp and Decidueye could use Swords Dance, Defog entry hazards or recover itself with Roost.

Pretty sure hazards take priority, as Tapu Fini gets poisoned trying to remove Toxic Spikes.

3) Make boost to Fire moves from Sun and Fiery Terrain not stack
1) I'm ok with that. Make it Def

2) I made the terrain with the Sea Of Fire (Grass + Fure pledges) effect in mind, and iirc the damage that does is 1/8 as well, so I'd like to keep it that way

3) Sure thing. Heck, Sun + Terrain is stronger than Water Bubble, better for them to not interact. If it can't be coded to not interact, then I'll think of something else

Ayy let's go time for more terrains

Name: Tranquil Terrain
Type: Flying
Message: "A calm breeze swept over the battlefield."
Tranquil Surge: Noctowl (Instead of Keen Eye)
Z-move: Raises speed by one stage
Nature Power: Air Slash
Secret Power: Pluck animation, 30% chance to inflict Yawn on the opponent (fall asleep next turn).
Effect 1: Flying-type moves deal 50% more damage.
Effect 2: Pokémon cannot be prevented from switching, and restore 1/6 of their max HP from doing so. (Also I would like to take away Pursuit's priority, but I don't know if that would count as too many effects.)
Attack: Pidgey, Pidgeotto, Pidgeot, Dragonite, Hoothoot, Noctowl, Natu, Xatu, Hoppip, Skiploom, Jumpluff, Togetic, Swablu, Altaria, Tropius, Drifloon, Drifblim, Togekiss, Pidove, Tranquill, Unfezant, Ducklett, Swanna, Rowlet, Dartrix, Decidueye, Oricorio
Seed: Tranquil Seed
Seed Effect: Raises special defense by one stage
Competitive Use: First, I'm going to discuss the scope of this terrain. I'd like to make it affect all Pokémon, grounded or not, which caused some disagreements last time. While terrains are each made for a specific type, their purpose is not to only benefit that type. For example, Psychic Terrain does benefit Psychic-types, but it also has an effect that can be beneficial to many Pokémon. If Tranquil Terrain were made to only affect airborne Pokémon, it would force teams that use it to have little diversity, and would make it a very niche choice. With that out of the way, onto the actual terrain.

Tranquil Terrain allows Flying-types to become a force to be reckoned with, boosting their power to immense levels (Maybe Acrobatics Talonflame can become not garbage again). Not only that, but it negates trapping effects, benefiting Steel-types that don't want to be Magnet-Pulled, and gives a pseudo-regenerator effect to help out bulky Pokémon. U-turn and Volt Switch also become better moves, being able to deal damage, gain momentum, and heal all at once. This all lends itself to bulky balance teams, while also letting them unleash major nukes with boosted Brave Birds and Hurricanes.

Name: Snowball Effect
Pokémon: Snorunt, Glalie (Instead of Moody), Glaceon, Vanillite, Vanillish, Vanilluxe (Instead of Ice Body)
Effect: Between turns that Frosty Terrain is in effect, the Pokémon's speed stat increases by one stage. (Like Speed Boost but only works during Frosty Terrain).
Competitive Use: Snowball Effect allows weaker, unused Ice-types to gain lots of speed and turn them into sweepers. With a pseudo-speed boost and a boost to their Ice-type moves from Frosty Terrain, they suddenly have the stats to become offensive powerhouses, especially Glaceon and Vanilluxe.

Name: Snap Freeze
Pokémon: Sneasel, Weavile (Instead of Pressure, since they already get Disenchanted), Froslass, Smoochum, Jynx (Instead of Forewarn), Kyurem
Effect: Ice-type moves used by the Pokémon deal an extra 1/8 of the foe's max HP in damage dealing damage when Frosty Terrain is in effect. For multi-hit moves, this damage only occurs on the final hit.
Competitive Use: Snap Freeze allows Pokémon to deal an extra bit of damage to muscle through certain things they couldn't before, and more importantly, busts through Focus Sashes and Sturdy. Alongside Frosty Terrain's damage boost, Snap Freeze can let powerful offensive threats become even stronger.

Name: Cold Shoulder
Pokémon: Spheal, Sealeo, Walrein (Instead of Oblivious), Bergmite, Avalugg (Instead of Own Tempo), Articuno
Effect: The Pokémon ignores the foe's positive stat changes, its own negative stat changes, and any screens/substitutes the foe has when under Frosty Terrain. (Like Unaware + Infiltrator under Frosty Terrain)
Competitive Use: While the Ice-type is clearly the worst in the game defensively, Cold Shoulder gives Ice-types somewhat of a defensive niche by letting them ignore the opponent's attempts to increase or decrease damage in their favor. These Pokémon could come in on a setup sweeper and phase them out, status them, or take advantage of the situation and set something up themselves. (Look me in the eye and tell me Avalugg has no shoulders. I dare you.)

Name: Scorched Earth
Pokémon: Numel (Instead of Oblivious), Camerupt (Instead of Magma Armor)
Effect: If this Pokémon comes into battle while Fiery Terrain is in effect, no other terrains can replace Fiery Terrain until it disappears naturally.
Competitive Use: Terrain locking seems extremely powerful, which is why I gave it to a mediocre Pokémon and made it difficult to pull of. If successful, though, then Scorched Earth can allow Fiery Terrain to stay active for quite awhile, disrupting a foe's strategy and keeping your moves powered up as long as needed, especially with Terrain Extender.

Name: Pyriscence
Pokémon: Seedot, Nuzleaf, Shiftry (Instead of Early Bird), Pumpkaboo, Gourgeist (Instead of Pickup)
Effect: Adds a tertiary Fire-type to the Pokémon and keeps the Pokémon from having to charge/recharge moves when Fiery Terrain is active.
Competitive Use: Pyriscence allows certain Pokémon to have a niche as triple-type Pokémon, and gives some helpful healing as well. While Shiftry has to rely on Nature Power, Gourgeist has access to a boosted STAB Fire Blast, as well as good bulk. Both users also benefit from the ability to fire off Solarbeams for free (and Hyper Beams I guess?).

Name: Hotheaded
Pokémon: Flareon, Chimchar, Monferno, Infernape, Pansear, Simisear, Mankey, Primeape (Instead of Vital Spirit), Ponyta, Rapidash (Instead of Run Away)
Effect: Raises the Pokémon's speed by 50% and increases the power of not-very-effective moves by 50% when under Fiery Terrain.
Competitive Use: Hotheaded allows many Pokémon to suddenly outspeed Pokémon they couldn't before, while also giving a pseudo-Tinted Lens boost, meaning Pokémon with bad coverage can still deal big damage, and others can afford to run utility options in place of their coverage in certain situations.

Name: Perfect Zen
Pokémon: Gallade, Makuhita, Hariyama (Instead of Sheer Force), Sawk (Instead of Inner Focus), Darumaka, Darmanitan, Fomantis, Lurantis
Effect: Z-moves deal 50% more damage when under Chakra Terrain.
Competitive Use: Allows Pokémon to unleash an unholy nuke of damage when the time is right under Chakra Terrain. This should make running Z-moves for coverage more viable. Gallade also gets to fire off boosted Shattered Psyched that still hit Dark-types if it likes.

Also, perhaps an ability called Thick Skinned, that ignores all boosts in damage incurred by terrains. Good users could be Snorlax, Wailord, Throh, and Gogoat.

Actually, maybe at some point we could have a slate for abilities that don't interact with any terrain in particular, but still deal with terrains? Mimetism seemed cool, and there are surely more ideas to be had with those sorts of abilities.

May I suggest an ability that interacts with all the Terrains?
Its name is Mimetism and its effect would simply be:
On switch-in, holder's type changes in base of the active Terrain (following the mechanics of Camouflage).
Some good users would be obviously Kecleon, but also Pokèmon that mimetise and hide in the surrounding environment, like Weepinbell and Victreebell, Oddish line, Flabébé line, Carnivine and others. This would allow to use Nature Power at its best, gaining always STAB on it.

Imo give it as an HA to Castform too.

That sounds really good, I will allow it, coding permitting

Maybe not change type completely, but add it as a third type? It's a pity to lose its previous STABs, and also would make different users of this ability more unique in comparison to each other.

That's very much codable, I wouldn't ask otherwise.

Well I'm not the one to decide whether it goes along with the premise of this mod, but I don't think that only affecting airborne Pokemon would decrease diversity. The thing is, there aren't any full weather/terrain teams in OU now (outside of Rain), and there definitely won't be full terrain teams in ATT since its much harder to keep your terrain. I'd rather expect teams to have a core of 2-3 Pokemon using one terrain (like Lele/Zam), and in this case using one-two airborne Pokemon aside from terrain setter won't be a problem, even less so when you consider all the levitating Pokemon which aren't Flying types.

You can actually choose another ability, the Pokémon I mentioned all have already other useful abilities.
