So, as many of you already know, CAP prevos have been implemented onto the main Pokemon Showdown server (or at least partially implemented at the time of writing this post). This decision was made in part because there was interest in the tier from a number of people who signed up in the latest PRC cycle (in addition to the number of people expressing interest in the format through other avenues). However, at this stage CAP LC is not categorized as "official" and is not truly supported by CAP. In order to have future PRC discussions regarding the tier, we are essentially in a trial-run in which people can play with the mons in order to help give a more educated discussion later. When exactly this future PRC discussion will occur has not specifically been determined, though likely it would happen during the next cycle.

Whether or not CAP LC "succeeds" is dependent upon the strength of the community that comes out and supports it. Certainly at this stage, CAP as an entity is not responsible for putting forum resources into the new format's success. CAP, at this time, has no plans at all to build for the CAP LC metagame. The current main CAP updates will not be affected by CAP LC at all and any arguments over there should not reference CAP LC. Updates or changes to specific CAP prevos are not planned at this time, other than the logical consequence that any move being removed from a main CAP will be removed from its prevo(s) as well to achieve learnset consistency. What happens next is largely dependent upon the community's support.

This position is meant to give priority to the current CAP metagame, as there are worries about a splitting of our playerbase which would have a negative impact on the older meta. This is largely why the CAP LC format is challenge-only; there is no ladder and no ladder is planned for the foreseeable time.

There is potential for growth but it is largely dependent on what happens in the coming months. A lot of this is tied to future PRC.

So, in the meantime, have fun, play with the mons, and figure out if you think this is something we should spend resources towards in the future.
