Z-Flash Cannon is something I meant to try out during Kang era, slipped my mind that it might still be nice for picking off Lax amongst others.

It was a close one, but marilli wins the week! The team will be added to the hall of fame along with his provided description.

This week, we're going to be building around the most recent addition to the Viability Rankings - Mega Gyarados! Water/Dark typing and a decent Attack stat help it break past key metagame threats like Landorus-T, Hoopa-U, Tyranitar, Heatran, and Mega Gengar, with access to Dragon Dance aiding its ability to clean opposing teams. Sadly, though Mold Breaker ensures that Waterfall cannot be absorbed by Gastrodon, it's otherwise nearly useless. Luckily it has access to Intimidate pre-Mega, improving Gyarados's ability to take hits while trying to set up. Perhaps the biggest obstacle to Mega Gyarados's success is the extreme popularity of Tapu Fini, which walls it completely and hits it hard with Moonblast. A slightly too-low Speed stat prevents Adamant Mega Gyarados from outspeeding Tapu Koko at +1 and means Jolly sets, even at +1, are always outrun by Choice Scarf users like Landorus-T and Genesect. Still, with the right support Mega Gyarados can be quite threatening to its foes.

Deadline for team submission is Tuesday, May 30th at noon EST!

Finally get to make use of this thing since I've had it lying around for ages and never rly used it. I wanted to make a cool mega gyara team because nvakna gave me a team with it and i really liked that team and mega gyara so i wanted to try catering to it myself. Basic concept is rocks ferro + 2 pivots to wear stuff down and play with ur positioning then bring in gyara and mew later game and destroy, although its fairly flexible. Kyube is to break bulkier shit like fini w/ electric terrain boosted fusion bolts so gyara has an easier time sweeping. Mew is also fairly flexible in how its played as it can cycle fake outs and tailwinds, with fire blast for catching ferro. It's a fun squad tbh

  • Gyarados-mega is the startin point of the week, so there it is. its pre-mega form is quite useful with earthquake immunity and intimidate, and can mega when its right to start ddancing and sweeping. jolly because you want to beat tapu koko after a dragon dance
  • Landorus therian is what it is, meta glue and all. the biggest reason its on this team though is, ironically, the team felt a bit landorus weak without having my own. but the speed and pivoting is nice alongside double intimidate
  • tapu koko seemd to pair well with gyarados mega, threatening walls like celesteela and tapu fini wich otherwise stop your rampage. it also can hit zapdos or taunt tailwind/trick room to keep gyarados in shape. spore protection is nice too because amoonguss bops
  • ferrothorn is there because steel types are good, and it stops tapu koko from rampaging. grass also pairs good with water, and ferrothorn handles tapu fini and bulu safely, which is appreciated
  • heatran here stops opposing steel types from walling you, especially ferrothorns, gives spread damage, and is a great pokemon overall. f/w/g core is bonus
  • zyguard is the dragon because resistances are cool, and you got ice resisted already. another dragon dancer gives you many potential winconditions, and double substitute is something im a big fan of

I wanted a more offensive Aegislash but WP required it to get hit by a super-effective attack first, so I instead went with Life Orb to get that boost without any prior damage necessary. Mamoswine's takes care of Lando-T, MegaMence, and Heatran pretty nicely, especially with Ice Shard to clean up KOs. With AV, Mamoswin can survive Modest max Sp Atk Z Eruption Heatran and Modest max Sp Atk MegaZard Y Overheat. I wanted some terrain and a fast attacker that could cover for Water types, so I went with Electrium Z Tapu Koko, which nukes everything that doesn't resist. It has Taunt for Trick Room. Gyarados is a nice Intimidate user, and making it Mega gives it a more desirable damage output, a Ghost resist, and a check against opposing Aegislash. Shaymin-Sky cleans up all of the Pokemon Koko can't. Blaziken was the last Pokemon added because I wanted Fighting coverage, needed quick Grass coverage, and wanted a Grass-Fire-Water core. Very hyper offensive team. This team has won a DOU tournament. Don't know if that means much.

Yes, this is the same team from last week. Couldn't come up with anything better.

It's a team. Double intimidate cuz it feels like draw of gyara is putting 2 intimidates without them being landorus and salamence.

Amoong is a pain for Fini Zap Tyranitar type of team to get rid of, and lets Gyara actually set up with tried-and-tested type synergy. Lele Hoopa makes a good core to let Amoongus actually click Spore, but it's weak to Metagross + Lele stuff. So hopefully the rest of the team including M-Gyarados and Victini hopefully helps out in that regard. Semiroom AV Victini lets you switch in to gross cuz you can't with Gyara.

Most spreads stolen from somewhere but i dunno what they do.

Built this around Mega Gyarados + Amoonguss. Enough speed on Gyarados to speed creep Zygardes trying to outspeed Base 130s after 1 DDance.
Lele is necessary to reset terrain without stacking grass types. I've been a fan of the Fightinium set because Heatrans, Ferrothorn, and Snorlax after a bit of chip damage, fall to it, which are otherwise really hard to get around.

I then wanted an Electric immunity since Gyarados is electric bait, but Lando-T seemed boring and gets outsped by every other scarfs and Zygarde made the team too intimidate-weak so I chose Scarf-Thundurus-T. I thought HP Ice + Sludge Bomb gave me the best coverage so that's there.
I next chose Heatran since so far this team has no Steel type, and no solid answer to all the Steels out there. I put Flash Cannon because I wanted to not only swap into Lele but actually take it out. Also, as I later found out, its a good way to damage Kyurem-B's, something this team needed a good answer to.

Finally I wanted a TW user that wasnt flying or Suicune, which pretty much limited my choice to Mew. It has pretty standard coverage and Transforming into whatever is necessary is always nice.

Looking back at this team it looks like a mashup of the other teams posted so far... Oh well.
