[OVERVIEW]

Trapping and revenge killing are the names of the game for Dugtrio. Arena Trap, high base Speed, STAB Earthquake, and decent Attack allow Dugtrio to trap a majority of grounded Pokemon such as Heatran, Toxapex, and Tyranitar without many issues. Its support movepool containing Screech, Memento, Pursuit, and Sucker Punch also allows it to overcome some obstacles, such as its lack of power to effectively KO something that is trapped, the loss of momentum that it brings, its inability to trap Ghost-type and levitating Pokemon, and its inability to bypass faster threats. Its abysmal durability is a constant problem that makes it prone to being taken out by priority moves and attacks from Pokemon it can't KO first.

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

Earthquake provides Dugtrio with a consistent STAB attack that secures KOs against Heatran and weakened Magearna. Reversal works in tandem with Focus Sash and 21 HP IVs to pulverize Chansey, Kartana, and Ferrothorn after Dugtrio's health is greatly reduced. Screech is preferred to make trapping Chansey and Ferrothorn easier. The fourth move should be based on what the team fears the most. Pursuit traps Alolan Marowak, Gengar, and Shed Shell Tapu Lele, which otherwise can escape freely. Memento is a great move to cover for Dugtrio's tendency to lose momentum, helping against offensive Pokemon that may take advantage of Dugtrio such as Swords Dance Landorus-T. Sucker Punch is an option that bypasses faster Pokemon such as Protean Greninja, opposing Dugtrio, and severely weakened Mega Mawile. Toxic is an excellent option to cripple Tangrowth and Landorus-T before fainting. Stone Edge is an option for more offensive teams to use against Volcarona if Focus Sash remains intact. Stealth Rock can be used if Dugtrio must compress roles. Bear in mind that Stealth Rock should only be used as a last resort, as many other Pokemon can perform the role of a setter much better and Dugtrio prefers having any other move as an option.

Set Details
========

This set mandates the usage of Focus Sash, as it makes up for Dugtrio's lack of bulk and fear of being outsped by dangerous threats such as +1 Mega Charizard X while maximizing the Base Power of Reversal. Maximum Speed with a Jolly nature is recommended to outspeed the majority of non-Choice Scarf threats such as Heatran and Garchomp. Maximum Attack is necessary for having as much damage behind Dugtrio's attacks as possible without sacrificing Speed. 21 HP IVs allow Dugtrio to take two Seismic Tosses from Chansey to help maximize the Base Power of Reversal. You can also minimize Defense and Special Defense IVs to have an easier time landing Dugtrio inFocus Sash range; however, the added durability from IVs can be beneficial if activating Focus Sash is impossible. Hasty is an option over Jolly to maximize power against Ditto transformed into Dugtrio.

Usage Tips
========

Dugtrio should be utilized as a trapper that's only brought in as a revenge killer. Under very rare circumstances, Dugtrio can be brought in on a double switch or a predicted Electric-type attack, though this should be done as a last resort or if the loss of Dugtrio will not gravely affect Dugtrio's team. Due to Dugtrio's poor durability, (comma) it is best to keep Dugtrio from switching in as much as possible. Screech should be used to punish bulkier Pokemon unless they're like Toxapex, which poses a significant threat to Dugtrio. Preventing entry hazards from entering the field is a must for this set to work at maximum efficiency. Focus Sash is necessary for scenarios where Dugtrio needs to safely 2HKO threats such as Choice Specs Hoopa-U or eliminate faster threats such as +1 Mega Charizard X.

Team Options
========

Mega Sableye prevents the majority of Pokemon from safely setting up entry hazards with Magic Bounce. Dugtrio disposes of some problematic Pokemon such as Heatran and Tapu Lele in return. In the event that hazards get on the field, Defog users such as Skarmory, Zapdos, and Mega Scizor can pick up the slack. Skarmory and Zapdos fit best on most defensive teams thanks to their superior typing, great bulk, and ability to cover holes that such teams can have. Skarmory provides Spikes support, while Zapdos eliminates the majority of levitating Pokemon such as Celesteela and Gyarados. Mega Scizor is used more on bulky offense and balance teams, and it provides Dugtrio with U-turn support and helps against threats such as Tapu Bulu. Chansey is great for soaking up the majority of special attacks aimed at Dugtrio while walling some of the best offensive Pokemon in the tier such as Greninja and Volcarona. Toxapex handles Tangrowth effectively while supporting Dugtrio's team by using and absorbing Toxic Spikes, and Haze lets it keep offensive threats such as Mega Charizard X from stampeding the team in the event that Focus Sash cannot be activated on Dugtrio. Finally, Clefable can provide support by halting many setup sweepers such as Thundurus with Unaware while Dugtrio keeps pesky Poison-types at bay.

move 4: Toxic / Reversal

ability: Arena Trap

evs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

Earthquake is Dugtrio's most reliable STAB option to use. Tectonic Rage can overwhelm defensive threats such as Chansey, Clefable, and Toxapex while also breaking through offensive threats such as Mega Medicham and Mega Mawile. Screech helps Dugtrio effectively rip through Chansey. Substitute can protect Dugtrio from Sucker Punch users such as Mega Mawile and Bisharp while also helping get Dugtrio into Reversal's peak damage range. Toxic prevents Dugtrio from being dead weight against Landorus-T and Tangrowth. Pokemon that often switch in after Dugtrio has KOed one of their teammates. Reversal is used to give Dugtrio a more powerful move against Ferrothorn and is the best move outside of Tectonic Rage against Chansey. Memento is also a viable option strictly for momentum purposes if Dugtrio is no longer needed after trapping and KOing its intended target. Sucker Punch is a viable option against Mega Alakazam and can work okay against Choice Scarf Latios if Dugtrio is behind a Substitute.

Set Details
========

Maximum Attack and Speed with a Jolly nature is recommended to maximize Dugtrio's trapping capabilities against various threats. Groundium Z is the item of choice to let Dugtrio use Tectonic Rage and secure KOs more effectively against all kinds of threats. 21 HP IVs give Dugtrio 201 HP to reach Reversal's maximum Base Power after two Seismic Tosses from Chansey. Arena Trap is used to prevent most grounded foes from switching out against Dugtrio.

Usage Tips
========

Dugtrio can trap plenty of problematic offensive and defensive Pokemon thanks to Tectonic Rage's high Base Power. Though this set does work well on offensive teams, it is also great on defensive teams that need Tectonic Rage to prevent dangerous threats from steamrolling them. Substitute can be used both for protection against Sucker Punch and for maximizing Reversal's Base Power. It is best for Dugtrio to come in after another Pokemon has been KOed or off a slow U-turn or Volt Switch. Though Dugtrio can come in through a double switch, this has a high risk due to Dugtrio's poor durability.

Team Options
========

Defensive teams want to prevent entry hazards if possible to maximize Dugtrio's trapping capabilities. Mega Sableye, Skarmory, and Zapdos are great methods of preventing entry hazards on defensive teams. Offensively inclined teams can look to Mega Scizor, Mew, and Tapu Fini for keeping hazards off Dugtrio's side of the field. U-turn and Volt Switch support can help Dugtrio switch in safely. Mega Scizor, Rotom-W, Tornadus-T, and Tapu Koko are great partners for this. Mega Scizor has the bonus of drawing in Toxapex and Heatran very often, making Dugtrio's job of trapping much easier. Offensive Pokemon such as Mega Charizard Y, Volcarona, and Ash-Greninja benefit greatly from Dugtrio. Pokemon that can respond to any of Celesteela, Tangrowth, and Landorus-T are highly recommended to pair with Dugtrio, as they are often the first Pokemon switched in against Dugtrio once it has effectively KOed its intended target. Tangrowth, Zapdos, and Toxapex are decent options.

[SET]
name: Choice Scarf
move 1: Earthquake
move 2: Stone Edge
move 3: Memento
move 4: Pursuit / Toxic
item: Choice Scarf
ability: Arena Trap
nature: Jolly
evs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

Earthquake breaks through Heatran, Choice Scarf Terrakion, Tyranitar, and weakened Toxapex while being Dugtrio's best STAB attack to use. Stone Edge revenge kills Mega Charizard Y and +1 Volcarona. Memento allows Dugtrio to sacrifice itself to provide momentum and stat drops for offensive Pokemon to take advantage of. Pursuit is useful to trap Gengar and Alolan Marowak more effectively. Toxic is also a viable option to cripple Tangrowth and Landorus-T, though this move will likely be used the least. Rock Slide is a viable alternative to Stone Edge if accuracy is a major concern.

Set Details
========

A Jolly nature, maximum Speed EVs, and Choice Scarf allow Dugtrio to outspeed various threats such as Tapu Koko, +1 Volcarona, and +1 Mega Charizard X. Maximum Attack is highly recommended for Dugtrio to maximize its power. Arena Trap is used to prevent grounded Pokemon from switching out of Dugtrio.

Usage Tips
========

Choice Scarf Dugtrio is used to compress the roles of a revenge killer and trapper. Being Choice-locked into Earthquake drains a lot of momentum after Dugtrio has KOed the opposing Pokemon by leaving it vulnerable to various foes such as Tangrowth, Landorus-T, and Gyarados. Memento is useful when Dugtrio is no longer needed to trap anything. It's also a great tool to help Dugtrio's offensive teammates set up more easily on weakened Pokemon.

Team Options
========

U-turn and Volt Switch support are great methods to bring Dugtrio in easily. Mega Scizor, Rotom-W, Tapu Koko, and Tornadus-T are great Pokemon for this. Tangrowth and defensive Landorus-T are great partners that can help Dugtrio avoid exploitation by certain Pokemon such as Landorus-T. Since Chansey is difficult for Dugtrio to revenge kill, effective lures such as Life Orb Tornadus-T and Psyshock Tapu Lele can help Dugtrio out while it traps some of the more problematic threats to them such as Magnezone, Heatran, and Tyranitar. As a bonus, Psychic Terrain from Tapu Lele can protect Dugtrio against Water Shuriken from Ash-Greninja and Sucker Punch from Mega Mawile.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Aerial Ace 2HKOes Mega Heracross and is Dugtrio's best attack against Tapu Bulu and Serperior. Combined with Flyinium Z, it guarantees the OHKO on Mega Heracross. Choice Band can be used to give Earthquake more consistent power. It reliably 2HKOes Toxapex even if Dugtrio is burned after the first Earthquake. Endure guarantees Reversal's Base Power is maximized without the assistance of Focus Sash. Sludge Wave is an option to revenge kill offensive Tapu Bulu if they've been weakened a bit.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Flying-types and Levitate Users**: Non-grounded Pokemon are immune to Arena Trap and often fear nothing from Dugtrio while being able to set up unless Dugtrio uses Memento. Landorus-T, Skarmory, and Celesteela are the safest switch-ins, since they can immediately threaten Dugtrio out while surviving a full-power Reversal. Zapdos and Gyarados don't enjoy Stone Edge or Memento, but they can otherwise switch in after Dugtrio has KOed a Pokemon and immediately scare it out most of the time. Tornadus-T gets an honorable mention as it is faster than non-Choice Scarf Dugtrio and can easily OHKO. Charizard can remain immune to Earthquake and safely set up Dragon Dance or immediately Mega Evolve into Mega Charizard Y and roast Dugtrio. It needs to beware of Stone Edge, however.

**Bulky Grass-types**: Tangrowth and Tapu Bulu resist Earthquake and take negligible damage from everything else Dugtrio has offensively. Tapu Bulu is even better than Tangrowth, as it halves Earthquake's Base Power with Grassy Terrain and resists Reversal. Tangrowth can immediately threaten Dugtrio out with STAB Giga Drain. Serperior can use Leech Seed on Dugtrio and use it as bait for +2 Special Attack thanks to Contrary Leaf Storm.

**Priority Users**: Ash-Greninja, Mega Medicham, Mega Mawile, Mega Scizor, and Zygarde are common Pokemon that often run priority attacks that can revenge kill Dugtrio. Ash-Greninja gets an honorable mention, as Water Shuriken bypasses Focus Sash.

**Physically Bulky Pokemon**: Garchomp, Zygarde, Hippowdon, Alomomola, and Slowbro can easily absorb an Earthquake and KO Dugtrio with any STAB move of their choosing. Scald from Slowbro and Alomomola can even bypass Focus Sash by burning.

Basic implementation:

- Focus Sash
- Choice Scarf
- Offensive (Band / Groundium Z)

Focus Sash will focus a little more on being used on stall teams though obviously it can work on some offensive teams if it has a solid Defogger (Mega Scizor). Scarf will emphasize more on offensive teams that need reliable Speed control. Band / Groundium is for teams that just need more of an offensive push against some threats with minimal support and risk involved.

I don't think anything new popped up in OO for Dugtrio.

Done.

I could probably add a little more meat to the other two sets, but I feel the most attention should go towards Focus Sash since it is not only its most common but also most effective set. Aerial Ace can probably drop to OO until Mega Heracross is released - I kept it in Moves for now in the Offensive set.

I've sort of seen offensive teams use the Sash Dugtrio set with Tapu Fini or Mega Scizor still. I'm okay with adding them in or adding more offensive team options, but I think the set legit works best on stall where you have Mega Sableye blocking hazards and the assurance of Zapdos or Skarmory for Defog - or both.

IMO give Rock Tomb an OO mention in the context of the Sash set for its ability to neuter a +1 Charizard's speed boost whilst putting it in range of Earthquake so that you are able to trap it even on the off chance that it is at full health; it also hits Volcarona more accurately than Stone Edge (still OHKOs fast variants w/o any prior damage) and has just under a 50% chance to OHKO uninvested Zard Y.

I agree on Aerial Ace; being locked into it blows and until Mega Hera comes out it loses quite a lot of utility.

Minor knitpick, but you could probably make the 28 HP IV thing more visible on Focus Sash by listing it on the actual set 'cause there isn't really much in the way of valid reasons for not doing it tbh.

Earthquake is Dutrio's STAB of choice - allowing it to secure KOes against Tyranitar and Heatran without too many issues while also doing quite a bit to Toxapex.
This is a good line, but with Tyranitar's waning relevance I don't think it should be specifically mentioned. Instead, I'd point out that Dugtrio can secure the guaranteed KO against Heatran + pick off weakened threats such as Mega Metagross and Magearna.

Usage Tips

You're probably already planning on doing this since it's implied, but make sure to mention Sash Dugtrio's utility on stall teams.

Checks and Counters

**Flying-types or Pokemon with Levitate**:
Mention that some of these Pokemon use Dugtrio as set up fodder as well.

Terrific analysis my dude

Added thanks.

Yes when the write-up comes it will talk a little more about Sash on stall, though it will make a couple notes about it on Offensive teams as well.

I think when mentioning Rock Slide in OO it is worth mentioning how its flinch rate allows Duggy to cheese past things in a pinch, such as healthy Flynium Gyarados for Scarf Duggy (it still 2HKOs and SEdge only deals like 65-80%-ish) etc. without sacrificing the KOs on Volc/Zard Y or whatever. Also...
* Choice Scarf is used to outspeed various offensive threats such as +1 Mega Charizard X, +1 Volcarona, Tapu Koko, and non-Speed boost Pheromosa.
Phero mention spotted.

Banned deucer.

[OVERVIEW]

* Arena Trap, high base Speed, and tolerable Attack makes Dugtrio an effective trapper for a variety of teams.
* Traps some of the biggest threats to a variety of teams such as Chansey, Toxapex, and Heatran without too many issues.
* Though Dugtrio is a support Pokemon it does require some support surrounding it to effectively do its job and can be a rather bad momentum drain after its job is done.
* Abysmal durability makes it prone to priority and, if it doesn't KO the opposing Pokemon, at risk of being OHKOed if Focus Sash is absent.

Moves
========

* Earthquake is Dutrio's STAB of choice - allowing it to secure KOes against Heatran and Magearna without too many issues while also doing quite a bit to Toxapex.
* Reversal lets Dugtrio trap and KO Chansey and Ferrothorn after Dugtrio's health is greatly reduced. Thanks to Focus Sash it is rather easy to hit Reversal's maximum base power. and hits kartana
* Screech harshly lowers Defense to make trapping and securing KOes against Chansey and Ferrothorn easier.
* Pursuit is necessary for some teams as it helps trap Alolan Marowak, Gengar, and Tapu Lele - whom otherwise can escape either thanks to their typing or by using Shed Shell.
* If somehow Dugtrio is alive after use Memento can be a great method to harshly lower an opponent's offensive stats and make it easier to switch into Pokemon that can take advantage of the offense drops such as Volcarona or Mega Sableye.
* Sucker Punch gives Dugtrio a safety net when trapping Mega Metagross as the potential threat of Bullet Punch can make it harder to effectively trap it. also beats duggy on opposing stall
* Toxic can be used to cripple Tangrowth and is an option to cripple Landorus-T when it comes in on the revenge.
* Stealth Rock is an option if Dugtrio must compress roles; however, it is recommended to use another Pokemon to lay Stealth Rock as Pursuit and Memento are usually too valuable for most teams to turn down.
mention substitute and how it bypasses maw sucker

Set Details
========

* Focus Sash is the recommended item due to Dugtrio's poor bulk and assisting with maximizing the base power of Reversal. With Focus Sash Dugtrio can effectively revenge kill more threats that are either faster or can survive an Earthquake at full health.
* Maximum Speed with a Jolly nature ensures Dugtrio will remain faster than most of the threats it is designed to trap such as Mega Metagross, weakened Garchomp, and tie regular Alakzam.
* Maximum Attack is needed to get as much power behind Earthquake, Reversal, Pursuit, and Sucker Punch as possible.
* 28 HP IVs for Seismic Toss Chansey and maximizing Reversal base power.
* Minimizing Defense and Special Defense IVs are optional to help hit Reversal's maximum base power in the event that a Pokemon doesn't hit towards Focus Sash range; however, in most cases the added durability from IVs can be beneficial in rare scenarios where Focus Sash cannot be activated due to being unable to remove entry hazards.
* Hasty nature can be used to prevent Ditto from effectively revenge killing Dugtrio.

Usage Tips
========

* Dugtrio should be utilized as a trapper that should only switch in after a Pokemon has been sacked. While it is possible to switch Dugtrio into Electric-type attacks or through a double switch it can be very risky due to Dugtrio's poor durability.
* Utilize Screech to punish bulkier Pokemon such as Chansey and Ferrothorn. Dugtrio should avoid using Screech against Toxapex and go straight for Earthquake - the risk of Scald's burn is too great for Dugtrio.
* Be sure to keep hazards off of Dugtrio's side of the field. Focus Sash is necessary to revenge kill threats such as boosted Mega Charizard X, non-Bullet Punch Mega Metagross at full health, and Hoopa-U.

Team Options
========

* Defog users such as Skarmory, Zapdos, and Mega Scizor are great partners. Skarmory and Zapdos fit more on defensive stall teams and support Dugtrio by clearing hazards. Skarmory fills extra utility with Spikes while taking on physically offensive threats with Counter. Zapdos can be used to punish Water-types such as Gyarados that attempt to take advantage of Dugtrio and is an okay fit on some balanced teams. Finally, Mega Scizor is great for not only providing hazard removal and capability of checking faster threats with STAB Bullet Punch, but also providing a slower U-turn to ease trapping for Dugtrio.
* Mega Sableye reflects hazards while Dugtrio traps problematic Pokemon such as Tapu Lele and Heatran.
* Chansey soaks special attacks aimed at Dugtrio - in particular from Water- and Grass-types. It walls Greninja and doesn't fear anything from Amoonguss nor Mega Venusaur outside of the rare Leech Seed. Being able to trap and kill physical attackers such as weakened Mega Metagross lacking Bullet Punch and pressuring Alolan Marowak is a huge help. Chansey can also provide Stealth Rock to help Dugtrio trap threats more effectively.
* Toxapex can be a great deterrence to annoying threats such as Tangrowth and Greninja lacking Extrasensory. Toxpaex can support with Toxic Spikes to keep Tangrowth from staying in constantly and, eventually, wearing itself down. Toxapex can also absorb Toxic Spikes for Dugtrio. Haze stops Pokemon such as Gyarados from setting up and taking advantage of Dugtrio.
* Clefable can provide support by stopping setup sweepers thanks to Magic Guard while Dugtrio can help keep Gengar at bay.

[SET]

Moves
========

* Earthquake is the primary STAB of choice to KO foes that are trapped by Dugtrio.
* Stone Edge secures a OHKO against Volcarona and does a decent chunk against Zapdos and Gyarados. rock slide is a fine alternative for volca too
* Memento is a great move to use when Dugtrio's duties are done to give Dugtrio's team momentum.
* Pursuit traps Gengar and Alolan Marowak.
* Toxic cripples Landorus-T. Tangrowth, and Hippowdon, but otherwise is nothing more but a filler move.

Set Details
========

* Choice Scarf is used to outspeed various offensive threats such as +1 Mega Charizard X, +1 Volcarona, and Tapu Koko. i guess you can add other things like scarf terrak for the sake of beefing this up
* Maximum Attack, Speed, and a Jolly nature are used to ensure Dugtrio is doing maximum damage.also means it wont be outsped by scarf keld/terrak

Usage Tips
========

* Scarf Dugtrio is used to compress two different roles - a revenge killer and a trapper for various teams.
* This set, though it will KO many threatening Pokemon, does give away momentum after Dugtrio has secured a KO as Dugtrio does not have a lot of power and Earthquake can be abused by various Pokemon such as Tangrowth, Gyarados, and Charizard.
* Use Memento to either severely weaken a threat that may set up and sweep Dugtrio's team offensively or to severely weaken a threat to freely set up and sweep with other offensive Pokemon.
* Double switching with Dugtrio should only be done if it is absolutely safe to do so. Dugtrio's poor durability prevents Dugtrio from freely switching in - hence why it's best to be used as a revenge killer.

Team Options
========

* Stealth Rock is a must with this set due to Dugtrio being rather weak and lacking Screech to weaken some of its more annoying Pokemon. Landorus-T and Garchomp are solid partners that can lay Stealth Rock and place offensive pressure. Landorus-T can provide safe U-turns for Dugtrio if desired.
* U-turn and Volt Switch support can be helpful. Rotom-W can handle Gyarados and non-offensive Landorus-T. Mega Scizor is another teammate that can assist with U-turning and keeping Landorus-T and Zygarde in check with Technician Hidden Power Ice.
* Consider various Pokemon that benefit from Scarf Dugtrio's elimination of rather annoying Pokemon. Mega Charizard Y benefits from the removal of Toxapex, Tapu Koko, and Tyranitar. Volcarona benefits from the elimination of Heatran and Memento giving Volcarona an easier time setting up.
* Tapu Lele offers protection against priority attacks when trapping at times while appreciating the removal of Magearna and Jirachi.
* Defensive pivots such as Tangrowth and Landorus-T can be used to prevent various Pokemon from setting up on Dugtrio and threatening the team.

Moves
========

* Earthquake is obvious move to click on when trapping most opponents. Continental Crush shuts out Toxapex and does a fuckton to everything else.
* Sucker Punch prevents Dugtrio from being finished off by potential threats such as Bullet Punch Mega Metagross.
* Substitute prevents Mega Mawile from attempting to cheese Dugtrio by using Sucker Punch against it.
* Pursuit prevents Gengar and Alolan-Marowak from escaping safely.
* Memento gives Dugtrio's momentum at the cost of its own life, though it harshly lowers Attack and Special Attack.
* Stone Edge is a solid option to hit Mega Charizard Y, though has minimal use outside of those circumstances.

Set Details
========

* Maximum Attack and Speed with a Jolly nature maximizes Dugtrio's power and Speed.
* Groundium Z helps Dugtrio take out bulkier Pokemon at around 50% health or less much easier such as Chansey and Clefable. Tectonic Rage can also OHKO Toxapex after some chip damage.

Usage Tips
========

* Use Dugtrio to trap threatening offensive Pokemon that impede Dugtrio's team.
* Groundium Z should be treated as a nuke when trapping that can bypass bulkier threats that Dugtrio traps.
* Substitute can be useful for preventing Sucker Punch from Mega Mawile, though it does not work on Choice Band. Choice Band should opt for Pursuit or Stone Edge instead.
* It is best for Dugtrio to come in after another Pokemon has been sacked or receiving a slow U-turn / Volt Switch. Though Dugtrio can come in through a double switch it has a high risk with Dugtrio's frailty.

Team Options
========

* U-turn and Volt Switch help Dugtrio switch in easier. Mega Scizor, Rotom-W, and Tapu Koko can assist with this. probably mention sciz baits in pex and tran super easily. other things like torn-t work well too
* Use Dugtrio to assist other Pokemon in being able to overwhelm the opponent. Volcarona, Ash-Greninja, and Keldeo appreciate various Pokemon that Dugtrio trap such as Chansey, Heatran, and Toxapex.
* Hazard support is recommended to help ensure Groundium Z will KO threats. Landorus-T, Garchomp, and Heatran can provide Stealth Rock. Greninja, Ash-Greninja, and Ferrothorn can provide Spikes.
* Tapu Lele's Psychic Terrain can keep Dugtrio safe from priority. Shunting out weakened Chansey and Magearna can be beneficial for Tapu Lele to freely spam STAB Psychic or STAB Moonblast.

Other Options
=============

* Endure maximizes Reversal's base power without the need of Focus Sash.
* Rock Slide over Stone Edge for accuracy, but power drop is pretty bad. The flinch chance is lit though.
* Aerial Ace with Choice Band is an okay option that lets Dugtrio take out weakened Tapu Bulu and Assault Vest Tangrowth while hitting Buzzwole.
* Sludge Wave sounds troll but it can revenge kill offensive Tapu Bulu.
remember to put cb here

Checks and Counters
===================

**Flying-types or Pokemon with Levitate**: These Pokemon are immune to Arena Trap and often fear nothing from Dugtrio while being able to set up on Dugtrio most of the time outside of Memento. Landorus-T, Skarmory, and Celesteela are the safest switch-ins since they can immediately threaten Dugtrio out while surviving a full-powered Reversal. Zapdos and Gyarados don't enjoy Stone Edge nor Memento, but can otherwise switch in after Dugtrio has KOed a Pokemon and immediately scare out Dugtrio most of the time. Tornadus-T gets an honorable mention as it is faster than non-Choice Scarf Dugtrio and can easily OHKO Dugtrio. Charizard can remain immune to Earthquake and safely set up Dragon Dance or immediately become Mega Charizard Y and roast Dugtrio. Be aware of Stone Edge.

**Bulky Grass-types**: Tangrowth and Tapu Bulu resist Earthqauke and take negligible damage from everything else Dugtrio has offensively. Tapu Bulu is even better than Tangrowth as it not only halves Earthquake's base power with Grassy Terrain it also resists Reversal. Tangrowth can immediately threaten Dugtrio out with STAB Giga Drain. Serperior can Leech Seed Dugtrio and use Dugtrio as a pit stop for +2 Special Attack thanks to Contrary Leaf Storm.

**Priority users**: Ash-Greninja, Mega Medicham, Mega Mawile, Mega Scizor, and Zygarde are four common examples that often run priority attacks that can revenge kill Dugtrio. Ash-Greninja gets an honorable mention as Water Shuriken bypasses Focus Sash. Though rarer, Mega Metagross can run Bullet Punch to surprise Dugtrio.

**Physically bulky Pokemon**: Garchomp, Zygarde, Hippowdon, Alolomola, and Slowbro can easily absorb an Earthquake and KO Dugtrio with any STAB move of their choosing. Slowbro and Alolomola's Scald has the added bonus of burn bypassing Focus Sash.

Remove all mentions of Mega Metagross.
  • Replace the BP Mega Metagross example when describing Sucker Punch on Focus Sash, with Sucker Punch Mawile, because EQ wont be able to kill Mawile at full health, and Sucker Punch prevents it from being finished off by Mawile and potentially killing Mawile itself with a mid roll. (unless they are running some super fat Mawile spread above 104 HP)
  • Remove Sub as a move option for Focus Sash. That set depends a lot on keeping Duggy's sash intact, and Sub completely forfeits its utility. It's better run on the Groundium set anyway.
  • You mention how SE can revenge kill Gyarados, but it only does around 66.4 - 78.5%, so I'd mention something else like Charizard-Y.
Looks good otherwise nice work.

Its support movepool consisting of containing Screech, Memento, Pursuit, and Sucker Punch also allow allows it to overcome some obstacles that otherwise plague Dugtrio such as being too weak its lack of power to effectively KO something that is trapped, overcome its crippling momentum drain the loss of momentum that it brings, its inability to trap Ghost-type and levitating Pokemon, and being able to bypass faster threats. ("its vulnerability to faster threats"? i'm looking for a noun here at least) Furthermore, its abysmal durability makes it prone to priority attacks and being OHKOed by an opposing attack—that is, if Dugtrio doesn't KO them first.

Earthquake provides Dugtrio with a consistent STAB attack that secures KOes KOs against Heatran and weakened Magearna. Reversal works in tandem with Focus Sash to pulverize Chansey, Kartana, and Ferrothorn after Dugtrio's health is greatly reduced. Focus Sash and a set HP IV (list in importable pls) make it easier to hit the highest potential base power Base Power for Reversal as well. Screech is preferred to help sharply lower Defense and make trapping Chansey and Ferrothorn easier. The fourth move boils down to preference on what the team fears the most. Pursuit traps Alolan Marowak, Gengar, and Shed Shell Tapu Lele, (AC) whom which otherwise can escape freely. Memento is a great move for Dugtrio's otherwise bad momentum as to cover for Dugtrio's tendency to lose momentum because, at the cost of its Dugtrio's own life, it will severely cut into the opponent's Attack and Special Attack. This can help against offensive Pokemon that may take advantage of Dugtrio such as Swords Dance Landorus-T. Sucker Punch is a final alternative that bypasses faster Pokemon such as Protean Greninja, opposing Dugtrio, and severely weakened Mega Mawile. Toxic is an excellent option to cripple Tangrowth and Landorus-T before fainting. Stone Edge is an option for more offensive teams to use against Volcarona if Focus Sash remains intact. Stealth Rock can be used if Dugtrio must compress roles. Bear in mind that Stealth Rock should only be used as a last resort, (AC) as many other Pokemon can perform the role much better and Dugtrio prefers having any other move as an option.

Set Details
========

This set mandates the usage of Focus Sash, (AC) as it solves Dugtrio's issues of having poor lack of bulk (RC) and fear of potentially being outsped by dangerous threats such as +1 Mega Charizard X (RC) and while maximizing the base power Base Power of Reversal. Maximum Speed with a Jolly nature is recommended to outspeed the majority of non-Choice Scarf threats such as Heatran and Garchomp. Maximum Attack is necessary for having as much damage behind Dugtrio's Attacks attacks as possible without sacrificing Dugtrio's Speed. 28 HP IVs allow Dugtrio to take two Seismic Tosses from Chansey to help maximize the base power Base Power of Reversal. You can also minimize Defense and Special Defense IVs to have an easier time landing Dugtrio into Focus Sash range; however, in most cases the added durability from IVs can be beneficial in rare scenarios such as (this seems to contradict "most cases" + from what I can tell it's actually the only situation where it applies?) if activating Focus Sash is impossible. Hasty is an option over Jolly to maximize power against Ditto transformed into Dugtrio.

Usage Tips
========

Dugtrio should be utilized as a trapper that's only brought in as a revenge killer. Under very rare circumstances Dugtrio can be brought in on a double switch or a predicted Electric-type attack, though this should be done as a last resort or if the loss of Dugtrio will not gravely affect Dugtrio's team. Due to Dugtrio's poor durability it is best to keep Dugtrio from switching in as much as possible. Screech should be used as a method to punish bulkier Pokemon unless they pose a significant threat to Dugtrio such as Toxapex. Preventing entry hazards from entering the field is a must for this set to work to its at maximum efficiency. Focus Sash is necessary for scenarios where Dugtrio needs to safely 2HKO threats with Earthquake such as Choice Specs Hoopa-U or eliminate faster threats such as +1 Mega Charizard X.

Team Options
========

Mega Sableye prevents the majority of Pokemon from safely setting up entry hazards with Magic Bounce. Dugtrio disposes some problematic Pokemon in return such as Heatran and Tapu Lele. In the event that hazards are layed on the field, (AC) Defog users such as Skarmory, Zapdos, and Mega Scizor can pick up the slack. Skarmory and Zapdos fit best on most defensive teams thanks to their superior typing, great bulk, and covering potential ability to cover holes that stall can have. Skarmory provides Spikes support, (AC) while Zapdos eliminates the majority of levitating Pokemon such as Celesteela and Gyarados. Mega Scizor is used more within on bulkier offense teams or balance teams, but and it provides Dugtrio with U-turn support and help against problematic threats such as Tapu Bulu. Chansey is great for soaking up the majority of special attacks aimed at Dugtrio while walling some of the best offensive threats such as Greninja and Volcarona. Toxapex handles Tangrowth effectively while supporting Dugtrio's team with using Toxic Spikes or absorbing them, (comma) and Haze keeps lets it keep offensive threats such as Mega Charizard X from stampeding the team in the event that Focus Sash cannot be activated on Dugtrio. Finally, Clefable can provide support by halting many setup sweepers such as Thundurus with Unaware while Dugtrio keeps pesky Poison-types at bay.

Earthquake is Dugtrio's most reliable STAB option to use. With Groundium Z, (AC) Tectonic Rage tcan can overwhelm defensive threats such as Chansey, Clefable, and Toxapex while also overwhelming breaking through offensive threats such as Mega Medicham and Mega Mawile. Screech helps Dugtrio effectively rip through Chansey without worrying about missing KOes KOs. Substitute is great as it can protect Dugtrio from Sucker Punch users such as Mega Mawile and Bisharp while also helping get Dugtrio into Reversal's peak damage range. Toxic prevents Dugtrio from being total dead weight (RH) against Landorus-T and Tangrowth, (comma) two Pokemon that often switch into Dugtrio after Dugtrio has KOed one of their teammates. Reversal is used to give Dugtrio a more powerful move against Ferrothorn and is the best move option outside of Tectonic Rage against Chansey. Memento is also a viable option strictly for momentum purposes if Dugtrio's job is no longer needed after trapping and KOing its intended target. Sucker Punch is a viable option against Mega Alakazam and can work okay against Choice Scarf Latios if Dugtrio is behind a Substitute.

Set Details
========

Maximum Attack and Speed with a Jolly nature is recommended to maximize Dugtrio's trapping capabilities against various threats. Groundium Z is the item of choice for to let Dugtrio use Tectonic Rage to and secure KOes KOs more effectively against defensive and offensive threats. A HP IV stat of 28 HP IVs gives Dugtrio 201 208 HP to reach Reversal's maximum base power Base Power after two Seismic Tosses from Chansey. Arena Trap is used to prevent grounded foes from switching against Dugtrio, (comma) provided they lack Shed Shell.

Usage Tips
========

Dugtrio can trap some of the more problematic offensive Pokemon as well as and defensive Pokemon thanks to Tectonic Rage's boost in base power Base Power. Though this set does work well in offensive teams, (AC) it is also a great set on defensive teams that need Tectonic Rage to prevent dangerous threats from steamrolling the team. Substitute can be used both for protection against Sucker Punch and for getting Dugtrio into maximum base power range of maximizing Reversal's Base Power. It is best for Dugtrio to come in after another Pokemon has been sacked or receiving off a slow U-turn or Volt Switch. Though Dugtrio can come in through a double switch, (AC) it this has a high risk of failure due to Dugtrio's poor durability.

Team Options
========

Defensive teams want to still prevent entry hazards if possible to maximize Dugtrio's trapping capabilities. Mega Sableye, Skarmory, and Zapdos are great methods to prevent entry hazards on defensive teams. More offensively inclined (RH) teams can look to Mega Scizor, Mew, and Tapu Fini for keeping hazards off of Dugtrio's side of the field. U-turn and Volt Switch support can help Dugtrio switch in safely. Mega Scizor, Rotom-W, Tornadus-T, and Tapu Koko are great partners for this. Mega Scizor has the added bonus of drawing in Toxapex and Heatran very often, (comma) making Dugtrio's job of trapping much easier. Offensive Pokemon such as Mega Charizard Y, Volcarona, and Ash-Greninja benefit greatly from Dugtrio. Pokemon that can respond to Celesteela, Tangrowth, or Landorus-T are highly recommended to pair alongside with Dugtrio, (AC) as they are often the first Pokemon switched in against Dugtrio once it has effectively KOed the trapped Pokemon its intended target. Tangrowth, Zapdos, and Toxapex are decent options.

Earthquake levels breaks through Heatran, Choice Scarf Terrakion, Tyranitar, and weakened Toxapex while being Dugtrio's best STAB attack to use. Stone Edge revenge kills Mega Charizard Y and +1 Volcarona. Memento allows Dugtrio to sack sacrifice itself to provide momentum for offensive Pokemon to take advantage of the harsh Attack and Special Attack drops. Pursuit is useful to trap Gengar and Alolan Marowak (RH) a little more effectively. Toxic is also a viable option to cripple Tangrowth and Landorus-T, though this move will likely be used the least. Rock Slide is a viable alternative over Stone Edge if accuracy is a major concern.

A Jolly nature, maximum Speed EVs, and a Jolly nature allow Dugtrio to outspeed various threats such as Tapu Koko, +1 Volcarona, and +1 Mega Charizard X. Maximum Attack is highly recommended for Dugtrio to maximize its power. Arena Trap is used to prevent grounded Pokemon from switching out from of Dugtrio.

Usage Tips
========

Choice Scarf Dugtrio is more used for compression of a revenge killer and trapper. Due to Being Choice locked (RH) into Earthquake it drains a lot of momentum after Dugtrio has KOed the opposing Pokemon, (AC) which leaves leaving it vulnerable to various Pokemon foes such as Tangrowth, Landorus-T, and Gyarados. Memento is more or less useful for when Dugtrio is no longer needed to trap anything. It's also a great tool to help Dugtrio's offensive Pokemon teammates set up easier more easily on weakened Pokemon.

Team Options
========

U-turn and Volt Switch support are great methods to ease bring Dugtrio in easily. Mega Scizor, Rotom-W, Tapu Koko, and Tornadus-T are great Pokemon for this. Tangrowth and defensive Landorus-T are great partners that can help Dugtrio from being absued abused by certain Pokemon such as opposing Landorus-T. Since Chansey is difficult for Dugtrio to revenge kill, (AC) effectively lures such as Life Orb Tornadus-T and Psyshock Tapu Lele can help Dugtrio out while trapping it traps some of the more problematic threats they may have to them such as Magnezone, Heatran, or and Tyranitar. As an added bonus, (AC) Psychic Terrain from Tapu Lele can protect Dugtrio against Water Shuriken from Ash-Greninja and Sucker Punch from Mega Mawile.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options

Aerial Ace 2HKOes Mega Heracross and is Dugtrio's best attack against Tapu Bulu and Serperior. Combined with Flyinium Z, (AC) is an item option thati it guarantees the OHKO on Mega Heracross with Supersonic Skystrike. Choice Band can be used to give Dugtrio more consistency in Earthquake's more consistent power. It reliably 2HKOes Toxapex even if Dugtrio is burned after the first Earthquake. Endure guarantees Reversal's base power Base Power is maximized without the assistance of Focus Sash. Sludge Wave is an option to revenge kill offensive Tapu Bulu if they've been weakened a bit.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Flying-types or Pokemon with and Levitate Users**: These Pokemon are immune to Arena Trap and often fear nothing from Dugtrio while being able to set up on Dugtrio most of the time outside of Memento. Landorus-T, Skarmory, and Celesteela are the safest switch-ins, (AC) since they can immediately threaten Dugtrio out while surviving a full-powered Reversal. Zapdos and Gyarados don't enjoy Stone Edge nor or Memento, but they can otherwise switch in after Dugtrio has KOed a Pokemon and immediately scare out Dugtrio most of the time. Tornadus-T gets an honorable mention, (AC) as it is faster than non-Choice Scarf Dugtrio and can easily OHKO Dugtrio. Charizard can remain immune to Earthquake and safely set up Dragon Dance or immediately become Mega Evolve into Mega Charizard Y and roast Dugtrio. Be aware of Stone Edge, however.

**Bulky Grass-types**: Tangrowth and Tapu Bulu resist Earthqauke Earthquake and take negligible damage from everything else Dugtrio has offensively. Tapu Bulu is even better than Tangrowth, (AC) as it not only halves Earthquake's base power with Grassy Terrain it and also resists Reversal. Tangrowth can immediately threaten Dugtrio out with STAB Giga Drain. Serperior can Leech Seed Dugtrio and use Dugtrio as a pit stop bait for +2 Special Attack thanks to Contrary Leaf Storm.

**Priority Users**: Ash-Greninja, Mega Medicham, Mega Mawile, Mega Scizor, and Zygarde are four common examples Pokemon that often run priority attacks that can revenge kill Dugtrio. Ash-Greninja gets an honorable mention, (AC) as Water Shuriken bypasses Focus Sash. Though rarer, Mega Metagross can run Bullet Punch to surprise Dugtrio. (ded)

Thanks CryoGyro . I guess from here on out I'm going to quote the GP check like I should've before and implement the check this way. Also the Alomomola palindrome is good advice.

Aaaaaand

We're done!
