[OVERVIEW]

  • Feraliagtr can serve as one of the tiers greatest sweepers or wallbreakers, with an admirable base 105 Attack stat alongside Sheer Force boosted attacks, its definitely a threat not to be slept on.
  • With access to Dragon Dance, it can boost its attack to astronomical levels and boosting its somewhat lacklustre speed stat to a stage where it can outspeed the majority of the Pokemon in the tier. With also having some natural bulk on it, it can find itself setting up quite easily against a lot of common threats.
  • Sheer Force gives Feraligatr a free 1.3x boost to all of its predominant attacks, furthermore with a Life Orb it maximises Feraligatrs full potential by giving it a 1.6x boost to all of its attacks all while receiving no damage from Life Orb.
  • It also has access to a plethora of coverage moves which can aid its role i sweeping a lot, it also has the sustained coverage to exploit its weaknesses for example Sheer Force Boosted Ice Punch can hammer the majority of Grass-types in the tier.
  • Without stat boosts from Dragon Dance, its speed tier is incredibly disadvantageous to its role in sweeping letting the majority of the tier outspeed it.
  • Unfortunately, it also faces competition from other Dragon Dance users in the tier such as Haxorus and Zygarde-10%, additionally Crawdaunt rivals it as an offensive Water-type sweeper in the tier.

Moves
========

  • Dragon Dance allows Feraligatr to boost it's already good Attack stat as well as its Speed stat by 1 stage.
  • Waterfall is its primary and most spammable STAB-attack.
  • Crunch is great coverage to have, enabling it to break through a lot of common water-resists and just being overall good coverage on the meta hitting Psychic and Ghost-types, such as; Latias, Starmie, Jellicent, Gengar, Mew, Metagross and Azelf.
  • Ice Punch lets Feraligatr hit Grass-types super-effectively, namely; Amoonguss, Tsareena and Celebi, furthermore Ice punch exploits Dragon-types which resist its primary STAB.

Set Details
========

  • Maximum investment in Attack enables Feraligatr to solidify its role as a sweeper and OHKO the majortiy of the meta at +1 with it's respective coverage moves.
  • Max Speed Feraligatr, once it obtains a +1 Speed boost, can outspeed its previous counters in the tier, such as Celebi, Raikou and Choice Scarf Magneton.
  • Furthermore, with a Jolly nature it can outrun common threats in the tier, namely; Latias, Gengar, Hydreigon, Starmie, Terrakion and Mew.
  • Sheer Force is infinitely the better option over Torrent, receiving a 1.3x power boost for moves with secondary effects, which is all of Feraliagatrs moveset. Other Options
================
  • Swords Dance could also be ran, but most likely, or if not all the time Dragon Dance is the better option to outspeed a lot of the tiers threats. Swords Dance does a better job at wallbreaking, but tends to be outclassed by Crawdaunt as a wallbreaker.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Water-types**: Although Feraligatr has the tools to break through some Water-types such as Starmie and Jellicent, Pokemon such as Alomomola, Swampert and Empoleon can easily take Feraligatrs hits and can either cripple it with status conditions, or phase it out with Roar. Furthermore, Keldeo and Primarina resit every one of Feraligatrs attacks, and can either set up with Calm Mind or fire back with a powerful STAB-attacks. Alongside Keldeo, Mega-Blatiose and Volcanion can take Feraligatrs hits respectively and retaliate with stronger attacks.

**Choice-Scarf Users**: Common Choice Scarf users like Celebi or Raikou can outspeed Feraligatr even after +1 and OHKO it with STAB-attacks.

**Cobalion**: Although its Attacks are incredibly strong after Sheer Force boosts, Cobalion can take Feraligatrs hits thanks to its great Defensive presence and fire back with strong attack or potentially a Z-Move. You also have to beware of Cobalion switching out against a Crunch, giving it a 1+ boost in its attack thanks to Justified.

**Unaware Users**: Common Unaware user like Clefable, Quagsire and Pyukumuku can come in against it fairly easily and proceed to cripple it with status conditions or straight out attack it.

**Electric-types and Grass-types**: Without boosts from Dragon Dance, it's quite slow and makes itself exploitable to Electric and Grass-types. Pokemon like; Raikou, Celebi and Choice Scarf Magneton.
