As has happened in this game, my opponent has forfeited in the first game of a BO3 before their turn has ended. This is possible in PS but not in console. Forfeiting prevents information (picked mons or even moves, EVs based on how much do mons take) from being revealed when they should like it does ingame. Would be cool to force that people ends their turn in VGC (and probably BSS too) games.

Since (official) Smogon tiers do also have to be playable ingame, this might extend to any Best Of x set?

Whatever happens here, players need to be allowed to forfeit at any time because we can't really force someone to keep playing a game they don't want to (they can close their browser window or just walk away). As a result, we should look at what the games do in this situation (eg: what happens when a player times out when selecting what to switch in mid-turn), if I had to guess its likely the game auto chooses for them.

We couldn't reasonably do this before best-of-three support, but yes, we should disallow mid-turn forfeiting. Forfeits shouldn't be possible while a player has an unresolved pending switch. There was discussion a long time ago about it here.

Like HoeenHero said, for this to work, the metagame needs to have the "Your Time" system that autoselects moves for the player. Otherwise, you could just time out and accomplish the same thing. We also should never prevent a player from forfeiting the entire best-of set at any time.
