I have made the executive decision to create an administrative decisions thread because I think it is very silly that we haven't had one for official individual tournaments in the past. You will find all administrative decisions globally relevant to Grand Slam in this thread. Activity decisions or decisions relevant to only a single Open are still handled by the host of each individual Open.

Feel free to contact Pearl or myself if you have any issues that your Open hosts cannot handle, issues with Grand Slam globally, or issues with your Open hosts.

Regarding: Grand Slam playoff size

We have decided that Grand Slam VI playoffs will change from a 12-man bracket to a 16-man bracket, functionally similar to Tour playoffs. The primary catalyst behind this decision is the overwhelming amount of signups for Grand Slam VI. A brief comparison of stats, provided by the handsome teal6:

Grand Slam I: 256 / 192 / 192 / 128 / 128
Classic III: 384 / 384 / 384 / 256 / 256
Grand Slam VI: 1024 / 1024 / 768 / 768 / 768

The 1024-man tournaments, UU Open VI and NU Open VI, are two of the largest tournaments that have EVER been hosted on Smogon. There are also over 1800 unique signups for Grand Slam VI among all Opens. This tremendous growth has been due in large part to our ever-growing community & the advertisements on Facebook, Twitter, and Pokemon Showdown, so thank you all for signing up and please continue to be a part of our community!

The TD team has received undeniable evidence of Mazar planning to undermine the integrity of Grand Slam via conspiring with several opponents. In this evidence, which Mazar himself has confirmed as legitimate, it is quite clear that he asks for and expects to receive wins in order to make playoffs of the tournament.

With this in mind, alongside his previous transgression in an earlier edition of this tournament, we believe that he has shown no remorse nor capability to learn from past mistakes or punishment. As such, Mazar will be subject to a permanent tournament ban from our circuit effective immediately.

The final of the Ubers Open will now be between KyogreF4N and Thimo, instead of a round robin final.

RE: Soulwind vs. Nintendi (Playoff Tiebreaker)

Situation: During the fifth game of their series, Soulwind disconnected on turn 14 with a 20 second timer. Afterwards, Soulwind had four more disconnection instances, with the last one leading to him timing out. The TeamSubmissions account was accessed to verify if both users sent in their teams, with only Soulwind having done so.

Result: Since the reason that ultimately led Soulwind to timeout was a disconnection (as it is possible to verify through the chat log, where Soulwind is disconnected from the game five times between turns 14 and 23) and he sent in his team in advance, this game will be replayed. However, since Nintendi didn't send his own team, it's impossible to faithfully recreate the original match, which means that the final ruling is a rematch with different teams.

luigi edit: This ruling has been made void, nintendi should have been awarded a win originally. If Soulwind had won the recreate he'd be allowed to continue playing in Grand Slam playoffs as it'd be too late to change that now.

The TD team has received overwhelming and irrefutable evidence that Thimo was ghosted by Acacia in multiple rounds of the 6th Ubers Open as well as on many of his Smogon Snake Draft games, via both text and voice calls. This information was given to use by Acacia herself and though Thimo was given ample opportunity to refute the accusations levied against him, he has made no effort to do so.

Thimo will be Tournament Banned for 1 year.
Acacia will be Tournament Banned for 9 months, her punishment being reduced due to her cooperation. Acacia won't be allowed to participate in next year's Smogon Snake Draft.
