Landorus carves itself a niche on certain offensive team structures with this set, almost always keeping Stealth Rocks up and aiming to force massive chip damage on common threats to the archetypes, such as Scarf Roaring Moon, Great Tusk, Dragonite, Blissey, and most notably, Corviknight. Corviknight cannot remove Landorus's hazards thanks to Taunt, and is heavily punished by trying to combat Landorus itself. The aforementioned Great Tusk also matches up poorly against Landorus: without Ice Spinner, it has no way to damage it at all, and removing its item or attempting to Rapid Spin against in incurs heavy chip damage. While Landorus may not take attacks from Roaring Moon or Dragonite very well, offensive teams appreciate its ability to discourage U-turn spam from the former and to possibly force a trade with the latter. Landorus also has the option to opt for a special set with Earth Power, which is better into Great Tusk, Iron Defense Zamazenta, and Fluffy users such as Deoxys-Defense, but much worse into the likes of Swampert. To alleviate this, Landorus can run Grass Knot if its team doesn't want any safe ins for Swampert. However, this comes at the cost of U-Turn, making it a fairly niche option.
Counters:
Zapdos cannot be hit by Landorus at all and threatens an OHKO with Weather Ball.
Teammates:
Talonflame appreciates the chip damage Well-Baked-Body Corviknight variants, which can allow it to break through Corviknight with Swords Dance-boosted Brave Birds. Landorus's ability to force damage on/remove Dragonite is also very good for it, as otherwise, Talonflame is always in danger of being revenge killed by Dragonite's Extreme Speed.
Ceruledge, like Talonflame, appreciates the removal of Dragonite. It also makes for a decent check to some of Landorus's own problem matchups, such as Zapdos and Empoleon.
