Manaphy @ Waterium Z
Ability: Hydration
EVs: 252 SpA / 252 Spe / 4 HP
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Tail Glow
- Surf
- Psychic
- Ice Beam

This set is pretty straightforward. With TG and the 3 moves listed, alongside the Water Z-Move, it breaks through everything on the list. (I think Blissey needs rocks up)
Surf is for the higher damage output compared to Scald; the burn nerf makes the extra power worth it. Psychic is to bust past Mega Venusaur and Toxapex; Mega Venusaur could eat Ice Beams and get its health back with giga drain, while Toxapex can eat the Z-Move and recover stall. Ice Beam smacks Tangrowth and Amoonguss, having a 56% chance to OHKO Calm Amoonguss after rocks, and doing a ton of damage to AV Tangrowth. The Water Z-Move can bust past everything else, OHKOing everything else on the list outside of Tapu Fini, Chansey / Blissey, and Primarina; Blissey is the only hard counter on the list and Chansey can be broken at +6, while Fini and Prim taje a lot from Psychic. Onto the lure part: Most people are gonna switch into Tangrowth, Amoonguss, or Tapu Fini on Manaphy as they're all blanket Water checks, and you can Tail Glow on the switch and smash right through them with the appropriate coverage move. Against everything else, just use the Water Z-Move and watch the mon die.

Round 13: Find a lure for special blanket checks to aid a special attacker break and/or sweep.
The Pokemon must successfully lure 2 or more of the following Pokemon (slashed Pokemon all count as one target):
  • SpD Celesteela
  • AV Magearna
  • Toxapex
  • AV Alolan Muk
  • Chansey / Calm Mind Blissey
  • Tapu Fini / Primarina
  • Amoonguss / Mega Venusaur / Assault Vest Tangrowth
  • Mew
  • SpD Heatran
  • SpD Jirachi
Another p. un-specific week; go nuts!

Magearna @ Choice Specs
Ability: Soul-Heart
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
- Fleur Cannon
- Flash Cannon
- Focus Blast
- Thunderbolt

Can 2HKO Celesteela, Toxapex, Muk, Tapu Fini, Primarina, Mega Venusaur and Heatran. While it can't 2HKO Muk, it still beats it. Specs gives Margearna huge power (no pun intended), and it can heavily damage those mons with its coverage options. Thunderbolt 2HKOes Celesteela, Tapu Fini, Primarina and Toxapex; Focus Blast 2HKOes Heatran (can OHKO with Stealth Rock down), and 2HKOes Blissey with Stealth Rock and 1 layer of Spikes. Flash Cannon 2HKOes Venusaur-Mega most of the time (guaranteed with Stealth Rock), and has a chance to do the same to Amoongus after Stealth Rock. Also beats Muk-A one on one, as the toxic puddle can't scratch Magearna. It's not Magearna's best set, but it's certainly viable.

252+ SpA Choice Specs Magearna Thunderbolt vs. 248 HP / 16+ SpD Tapu Fini: 232-274 (67.6 - 79.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
252+ SpA Choice Specs Magearna Thunderbolt vs. 252 HP / 64 SpD Toxapex: 226-268 (74.3 - 88.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Black Sludge recovery

Apologies Martin and everyone else in the team for this delayed post; irl's been too draining for me.

This submission isn't going to win btw; the set isn't that good, and I'm submitting it purely for fun.
I'll one-up you.

Greninja @ Fightinium Z
Ability: Protean
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpA / 252 Spe
Hasty Nature
- Low Kick
- Gunk Shot
- Work Up
- Extrasensory/Dark Pulse/Ice Beam

I seriously don't know where to start with this set. This is a creative take on the rare physically orientated LO Protean Greninja, which is usually used to lure spdef celesteela and deal more damage to it than HP Fire. With Work Up, it's able to get a +1 boost to both of its attacking stats, and +1 All-Out Pummeling (160 BP) is able to deal with a lot of the listed pokemon. As well as this, +1 Low Kick is able to still put in decent work against some of the other listed pokes. Gunk shot helps to deal with some of the other pokes on the list as well. I would personally deem Extrasensory as the most optimal final move on this set, since it also nails other common switchins such as toxapex. Dark pulse and Ice Beam are also options on this set, but to stress yet again, this set is honestly trash

+1 252 Atk Protean Greninja All-Out Pummeling (160 BP) vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Eviolite Chansey: 834-984 (118.4 - 139.7%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Reserving Mega Charizard X

Charizard-Mega-X @ Charizardite X
Ability: Tough Claws
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Sword Dance
- Dragon Claw
- Flare Blitz
- Thunder Punch

Mega Charizard X Lures in Toxapex and Tapu Fini/Primarina with Sword Dance + Thunder Punch and beats all threats listed on the criteria bar special defensive Heatran with earth power however Mega Charizard x still 2HKOs with 2+ Thunder punch.

While Sword dance is the weaker set compared to Dragon Dance which is able to outspeed more pokemon like Tapu Koko however Sword Dance wallbreaks so much better as it is able to deal with Tapu Fini and Toxapex a lot more easier, Guarantees OHKO Chansey and Fully OHKO Mega Defensive Venusaur with stealth rocks up and goes through pokemon like Zapdos, Tyranitar an Magic Guard Clefable easier so pairing it with Keldeo or Ash Greninja is ideal which are special attackers which would appreciate having Mega Charizard X remove the threats in the criteria while in return deals with Tyranitar and Heatran without set up easier.

+2 252 Atk Tough Claws Charizard-Mega-X Thunder Punch vs. 172 HP / 0 Def Primarina: 548-646 (159.3 - 187.7%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpA / 252 Spe
Lonely Nature
- Stone Edge
- Crunch
- Pursuit
- Ice Beam

Yeah I know Band Ice Beam sounds kinda whack but it's its most viable and splashable set and I want to avoid submitting some specific ass set so I hope it's fine. This mon is super underrated and people seem to forget how hard it hits. Lando-T is one of the few mons that can take hits from this while getting chip with Helmet or forcing it to risk Stone Edge but with ice beam you just get it really low on the switch and it won't switch in anymore. Main drawbacks are you can't hit Magearna with anything and you're slightly slower than Landorus so you can't stay in after the first Beam.

Reserving Waterium Z Scolipede.

Scolipede @ Waterium Z
Ability: Speed Boost
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Megahorn
- Aqua Tail
- Earthquake / Poison Jab

Landorus-Therian would usually wall Swords Dance Scolipede; it resists both Megahorn and Poison Jab and it is immune to Earthquake, and it can also intimidate Scolipede to wall it even harder. However, when packing Aqua Tail + Waterium Z, Scolipede can actually OHKO defensive Landorus-T around 93% of the time at +1 (assuming Scolipede got intimidated after a Swords Dance boost), and it will always OHKO it after Stealth Rock damage, making it an effective lure.

+1 252 Atk Scolipede Hydro Vortex (175 BP) vs. 252 HP / 216+ Def Landorus-Therian: 378-446 (98.9 - 116.7%) -- 93.8% chance to OHKO

Everybody would switch lando-t to the Victini since it practically uses V-create like 24/7. U catch the lando-t and u glaciate.

160 SpA Expert Belt Victini Glaciate vs. 252 HP / 24 SpD Landorus-Therian: 307-365 (80.3 - 95.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Ability: Technician
EVs: 248 HP / 116 Def / 128 SpD / 16 Spe
Impish Nature
- Bullet Punch
- U-turn

- Hidden Power [Ice]

Lando-T is a fairly standard switch in to M-Sciz in order to get off an intimidate, force some Helmet damage or to try and set up an SD, while -1 Scizor is doing minuscule damage back. However, thanks to boasting a great ability in technician, it can fire off an HP Ice in order to 2HKO defensive versions of Landorus. There's also a good chance to 2HKO offensive variants with Bullet Punch + HP Ice after stealth rocks.

0- SpA Technician Scizor-Mega Hidden Power Ice vs. 252 HP / 24 SpD Landorus-Therian: 192-228 (50.2 - 59.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
0- SpA Technician Scizor-Mega Hidden Power Ice vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Landorus-Therian: 200-236 (62.6 - 73.9%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Ability: Lightning Rod
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Shadow Bone
- Fire Punch
- Swords Dance
- Will-O-Wisp

Physically defensive Landorus-T takes laughable damage from Alolan Marowak while also threatening to outspeed and OHKO it with Earthquake. Will-O-Wisp allows Marowak to cripple Landorus-T on the switch. Marowak-A also pressures Mawile, Magearna, Tangrowth and Tapu Koko which are commonly paired with Landorus. Of course, you can always run Rock Head Flare Blitz to 2HKO Landorus-T but this causes Marowak to lose a way to check Electric-types.

Ok yeah the fact that lure that threat is the same has basically killed this, so I'm just gonna close it there. No winners will be picked 'cause I'm lazy and wanna just leave that to Lure That Threat. That and I'd feel bad going full dictator on the winners lol

Round 15: Provide a partner that allows a Steel-type to circumvent the matchup versus Magnezone

Reserving dugtrio

Dugtrio @ Focus Sash
Ability: Arena Trap
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Earthquake
- Reversal
- Screech
- Stone Edge
Dugtrio is the most obvious choice as an answer to magnezone, you can double into it, you can stop a volt switch, you can take a a hit tnks to sash, and then you can just kill it, and tnks to arena trap you can trap the trapper and remove him without any risk, sash duggy beats every kind of magnezone, even subs, since sash will save you from the one hit you will need to take, sure a good player might predict duggy, but this can be said about every other mon subimited here, duggy main point is that, if you enemy fail to predict he can't switch out like he would do against the other mons listed here, and then your steel type is totally out of risk.

Heatran is a very good partner for a steel type despite having itself that type, because it usually don't use flash cannon, it also don't worry of being trapped beacuse even if magnezone it's scarfed, it barely has a chance to 2HKO heatran with thunderbolt.

Gastrodon @ Leftovers
Ability: Storm Drain
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
- Scald
- Recover
- Toxic
- Earth Power

Gastrodon is a good partner to Steel types that are worried about Magnezone since if predicting Magnzone to come in to trap said Steel type, you can send out Gastrodon since it is immune to Electric-type attacks and resists everything it could throw at Gastro, taking about 24% maximum from a Specs Flash Cannon. It can also OHKO most Magnezone variants with Earth Power. In return, Steel types can help Gastrodon by being able to tank the Grass types attacks that Gastrodon despises, patching up its only weakness.

252+ SpA Choice Specs Magnezone Flash Cannon vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Gastrodon: 88-104 (20.6 - 24.4%) -- possible 6HKO after Leftovers recovery

0 SpA Gastrodon Earth Power vs. 128 HP / 0 SpD Magnezone: 400-472 (127.7 - 150.7%) -- guaranteed OHKO

AV Magnezone may find itself as a good switch into Protean Gren, however this set allows Gren to take out Magnezone from full, allowing a partner such as Ferrothorn to support it with Spikes support so that Gren can go 4 Attacks as opposed to 3 Attacks + Spikes. This set has other applications of course such as luring in Celesteela while also weakening AV Magearna to the point that it will have difficulty switching in on Gren again later on in the match, making something like Ferro's life easier so that it does not wear itself down checking these threats.

252 Atk Life Orb Protean Greninja Low Kick (100 BP) vs. 144 HP / 0 Def Magnezone: 307-361 (96.8 - 113.8%) -- 75% chance to OHKO

Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance

- Stealth Rock / Will-O-Wisp / Bonemerang

Alolan Marowak can be doubled in against Magnezone as they attempt to switch in and trap Steel-types such as Ferrothorn, and it is able to take advantage of Lightning Rod alongside its Steel-type resistance to hit either Magnezone or the Pokemon it switches into incredibly hard with one of its STABs. It puts immense pressure onto the Magnezone player having the threat of an Alolan Marowak double in the back which, in turn, creates opportunities for Steel-types to stay on the field for short periods of time if conditioning is handled correctly.

Garchomp @ Yache Berry

Nature: Jolly
4 HP/252 Attack/252 Speed
Moves:
-Earthquake
-Stealth Rock
-Outrage
-Swords Dance

Its the standard Swords Dance Set, though Choice Scarf variants work if Zone isn't equipped with a balloon. One of Garchomp's types is Ground, a type that hits Magnezone for 4x weakness, and Garchomp has access to Stealth Rocks because of ORAS' tutors.

Stealth Rock is there to pop balloons and make even the Sturdiest of Magnets cover in fear of the Tremor inducing power of Garchomp. Yache Berry is there to help protect from ice attacks.

252 Atk Garchomp Earthquake vs. 128 HP / 0 Def Magnezone: 580-688 (185.3 - 219.8%) -- guaranteed OHKO

252 Atk Garchomp Earthquake vs. 252 HP / 252 Def Magnezone: 472-556 (137.2 - 161.6%) -- guaranteed OHKO

What this means is that Garchomp has an immunity to Electric Moves, a way to counter Magnezone with balloons (and Sturdy) and high attack to ensure one shots on Magnezone, leaving your Steel-type mons free.

(Beware of Double battles, Earthquake hits them super effectively as well unless they have Air Balloons, Wide guard or Protect).

The cons are that Magnezone could switch into say, a pokemon with an ice or fairy type move to KO 'chomp, but Steels would have an advantage over both types. Less safe are the likes of Tapu Bulu, who can both neutralize EQ's damage and give everyone on the floor a passive recovery.

One of the best ways to deal with Magnezone is to lure it early on, in general, Magnezone is an alright switch in to Latios due to resisting stabs.

Latios however in return can repeatedly switch into Magnezone's TBolt/Volt Switch and eventually lure it in with Tectonic Rage (which is an OHKO)
