PU Leavanny

[OVERVIEW]

Due its decent Speed stat, offensive presence, and useful support moves, Leavanny stands out as the most reliable Sticky Web user in PU. Leavanny's decent Attack stat, good STAB moves, and Bug / Grass typing give it a good matchup against common Stealth Rock users in PU such as Golurk, Mesprit, Regirock, and Carracosta, and access to Knock Off lets Leavanny cripple Pokemon holding items like Eviolite and Leftovers. Leavanny also gets Magic Coat, which lets it bounce back entry hazards and status moves such as Taunt and Encore against foes like Archeops and Liepard. However, Leavanny's bad defensive typing, Stealth Rock weakness, and average bulk make it very easy to wear down, which means it can't keep up Sticky Web reliably during the match. Leavanny's typing also makes it weak to common Defoggers such as Skuntank and Swanna. Leavanny is overall a niche pick, as it lacks value outside of being a Sticky Web user.

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

Sticky Web is the only reason for using Leavanny, lowering opposing grounded Pokemon's Speed by one stage. Leaf Blade is one of Leavanny's STAB moves, hitting Rock-, Ground- and Water-type Pokemon super effectively such as Carracosta, Golurk, and Regirock while also hitting Hitmonchan and Swanna for a decent amount of damage. X-Scissor serves as the other STAB move and hits Mesprit, Grass-type Pokemon such as Shiftry and Lilligant, and the most popular hazard remover, Skuntank, which otherwise walls Leavanny. Knock Off removes items such as Leftovers and Eviolite from opposing Pokemon, which cripples them for the rest of the battle. Magic Coat could also be used to bounce entry hazards such as Stealth Rock, Spikes, and Toxic Spikes from Pokemon like Miltank, Ferroseed, and Weezing and Taunt from Pokemon like Pyroar and Sableye.

Set Details
========

252 Speed EVs and a Jolly nature are needed for Leavanny to outspeed base 90 Speed Pokemon such as Zangoose and set Sticky Web to the best of its ability, especially if its Focus Sash is broken. 252 Attack EVs are used for maximizing Leavanny's damage output. Focus Sash is the preferred item because Leavanny is used as a suicide lead and it guarantees Sticky Web to go up at least once in the match while also activating Leavanny's ability Swarm. Swarm is the preferred ability over Chlorophyll and Overcoat due to its ability to boost the power of X-Scissor after the Focus Sash is used.

Usage Tips
========

Leavanny should be used as a lead to set up Sticky Web early on. However, if the opponent has an entry hazard remover such as Swanna or Skuntank that can't be pressured enough, you can keep Leavanny around to set Sticky Web later. Leavanny's main priority is to set Sticky Web, but in some cases it can be used offensively. If Leavanny has already set up Sticky Web and is facing a Stealth Rock or Spikes user that cannot be removed like Miltank or Ferroseed, spamming Magic Coat to at least get the hazards on your opponent's side of the field too before being KOed is a good idea.

Team Options
========

Leavanny should be used on hyper offensive teams that can exploit Sticky Web. Good partners for Leavanny are the Pokemon that take most advantage of Sticky Web such as Zangoose and Haunter. Offensive Pokemon that can spinblock also make good partners for Leavanny, as they can simultaneously keep Sticky Web on the field and benefit from the Speed drops. Oricorio-G is a particularly good spinblocker because it also pressures Skuntank with its Supersonic Skystrike. Golurk is another notable spinblocker, since it also provides Stealth Rock and acts as a solid Primeape check, which can be a pain to deal with on Sticky Web teams due to its ability Defiant. Conversely, Pokemon that can punish Defog with Defiant like Primeape and Pawniard are also great partners for Leavanny. Electric-types such as Eelektross and Zebstrika help deal with Flying-type Pokemon like Articuno and Swanna, which are immune to Sticky Web.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Chlorophyll and Overcoat could be used over Swarm; Chlorophyll provides a better matchup against sun teams and Overcoat protects Leavanny from being KOed from Aurorus or Abomasnow's hail after it has been knocked down to its Focus Sash. However, sun teams aren't common and weather damage doesn't really stop Leavanny from setting Sticky Web. A Swords Dance set could be used due to Leavanny's decent Speed and Attack stats, but this is done better by other Grass-types in the tier such as Leafeon with its better stats and Shiftry with its better offensive typing and priority. A mixed set with Electroweb / Leaf Storm / Knock Off or Magic Coat / Sticky Web could be used too; Electroweb hampers leads such as Archeops with the Speed drop and prevents Swanna from using Defog. Leaf Storm hits physical walls such as Mudsdale harder than Leaf Blade, and Knock Off and Magic Coat are used in the same way as the main set. However, mixed Leavanny struggles with Skuntank and Assault Vest Hitmonchan.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Taunt**: Pokemon with a fast Taunt like Floatzel and Sableye can prevent Leavanny from setting Sticky Web; however, all Taunt users need to be wary of the possibility of Magic Coat.

**Entry Hazard Removal**: Pokemon that can remove Leavanny's Sticky Web from the field after it faints such as Skuntank and Hitmonchan render Leavanny's attempts useless.

**Flying-types**: Flying-types like Articuno and Oricorio-E are immune to Sticky Web, take nothing from Leavanny's attacks, and threaten it with super effective moves or use Leavanny as setup fodder.

**Fire-types**: Fire-types like Combusken and Pyroar resist Leavanny's STAB moves and KO it with their super effective STAB moves if Leavanny's Focus Sash has been broken.

Chrisloud1 go ahead and change the Leavanny set to this.

Leavanny @ Focus Sash
Ability: Swarm
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Sticky Web
- X-Scissor
- Leaf Blade
- Magic Coat / Knock Off

This set is much better because it takes advantage of Leavanny's high Attack stat, allowing it to function as an offensive pokemon outside of just setting webs. Crucially, it lets it deal decent damage to Skuntank with X-Scissor and Hitmonchan with Leaf Blade.

The exact Knock Off, Magic Coat, and X-Scissor slashes all still need to finalized with discussion, but either way physical is definitely the better set, and it should look something like that.

  • Due its decent Speed stat, offensive presence and useful support moves, Leavanny stands out as one of the best Sticky Web users in PU. it stands out as the best of two, this could sound like it's idk, second best of 5 choices or somth
  • Decent Attack stat and good STAB moves makes Leavanny have some offensive presence.
  • Its access to knock off lets it cripple eviolite users like Clefairy and Gurdurr.
  • Its access to Magic Coat lets it bounce moves like Taunt, Stealth Rock and Spikes. these things are just literally what it can do without being an overview of its place in the metagame. mentioning coat and offensive presence with dual stab knock is cool, but going into specifics like u can knock clef and gurdurr isn't rly needed
  • Leavanny's bad typing, Stealth Rock weakness and average bulk makes it die quickly, which means it can't keep up Sticky Web reliably along the match.
  • Its typing also makes it weak to common defoggers such as Skuntank and Swanna.
it's also worth mentioning that leavanny has no value outside of webs teams, so it's incredibly limited in what it does

  • Knock Off removes the item of opposing Pokemon which helps teammates deal with them, such as removing clefairy's eviolite for example. ye it's really just for crippling random stuff, you'd be awfully lucky if they let u knock their clef with ur suicide vanny
  • Magic Coat could also be used to bounce moves such as Taunt (which prevents Leavanny from setting Sticky Web), Stealth Rock, Spikes, Toxic Spikes and status moves.

Set Details

  • 252 Speed EVs and a Jolly nature is needed for Leavanny to outspeed base 90 Speed Pokemon such as Zangoose and set Sticky Web freely versus them. ur webbing vs them anyway thanks to sash, maybe "more freely"?
  • 252 Attack EVs are used for maximizing Leavanny's damage output.
  • Focus Sash is the preferred item to guarantee at least 1 Sticky Web in the match while also activating Leavanny's ability Swarm.
  • Swarm is the preffered ability because most of the time the Focus Sash will activate boosting its X-Scissor and because the other abilities aren't that useful.

Usage Tips
========

  • Leavanny should be use on offense oriented teams which are the ones that can abuse Sticky Web the most. this belongs in team options, not usage tips

also maybe like, if they have a remover u don't think u can pressure like swanna then u might wanna keep leavanny around

  • A special set with Electroweb could be used to help beat leads like Archeops with the speed drop but then you get walled by Skuntank and you don't do much to Assault Vest Hitmonchan. yeah u said on discord but go slightly more in depth on this like u wanna be running leaf storm as well

**Fast Taunt Users**: Pokemom with a fast Taunt like Archeops and Electrode can prevent Leavanny from setting Sticky Web, however they should watch out for Leavanny's STAB moves. also they can get bopped by magic coat, but that's prediction reliant

**Hazard Removal**: Pokemon that can remove Leavanny's Sticky Web from the field after it faints such as Skuntank and Swanna are huge threats. However this Pokemon have trouble switching in on Leavanny. it's not that they're huge threats, they just invalidate leavanny's point for being on ur team

  • Due its decent Speed stat, offensive presence and useful support moves, Leavanny stands out as the best of the two Sticky Web users in PU. (hmm, unsure if I agree with this statement to be honest. while it is certainly the more reliable one thanks to magic coat, masquerain is able to assert more offensive pressure thanks to quiver dance. change to most reliable setter)
  • Decent Attack stat and good STAB moves makes Leavanny have some offensive presence. (good match up versus most of the stealth rock setters in the tier, like mesprit, golurk, carracosta, etc.)
  • Its access to knock off lets it cripple eviolite users and other Pokemon. (capitalise Knock Off; also seems slightly vague here)
  • Its access to Magic Coat lets it bounce entry hazard and status moves.
  • Leavanny's bad typing, Stealth Rock weakness and average bulk makes it die quickly, which means it can't keep up Sticky Web reliably along the match. (I don't think that's too much of an issue when it's generally used as a lead)
  • Its typing also makes it weak to common defoggers such as Skuntank and Swanna.
  • Leavanny its really limited on what it does since it doesn't have a value outside of Sticky Web teams.

  • Leaf blade is one of Leavanny's STAB moves hitting Rock, Ground and Water-type Pokemon super effectively, while also hitting Hitmonchan and Swanna for a decent amount. (reword slightly, the start makes it seem like both of its stab options do that. specifically mention stealth rockers like golurk, carracosta, etc. as it will generally force them out)
  • X-Scissor serves as the secondary STAB move and hits Mesprit and the most popular form of hazard removal, Skuntank, which otherwise gives it a free switch in. (hits grass-types like shiftry and lilligant too)
  • Knock Off removes the item of opposing Pokemon which helps teammates deal with them. (mm, very vague. give a few examples of items that are knocked off and what effect)
  • Magic Coat could also be used to bounce moves such as Taunt (which prevents Leavanny from setting Sticky Web), Stealth Rock, Spikes, Toxic Spikes and status moves. (change order; also give examples of fast taunt mons like pyroar because qwilfish and such don't actually stop it from getting webs up) (also helps versus prankster pokemon)

  • 252 Speed EVs and a Jolly nature is needed for Leavanny to outspeed base 90 Speed Pokemon such as Zangoose and set Sticky Web more freely versus them, specially if you aren't on max HP. (max hp? I don't understand why you'd ever use it considering your bad defensive typing and rather lacklustre defensive stats. remove the last bit)
  • 252 Attack EVs are used for maximizing Leavanny's damage output.
  • Focus Sash is the preferred item to guarantee at least 1 Sticky Web in the match while also activating Leavanny's ability Swarm. (it's also because it's primarily a suicide lead considering webs are a hyper offensive playstyle)

Usage Tips

  • If the opponent has a hazard removal Pokemon such as Swanna or Skuntank that you can't pressure enough, you would want to keep Leavanny around. (thing is, leavanny is really easy to pressure once its sash is broken, especially when used outside of a lead)
  • If the opponent doesn't have hazard removal or a fast taunt user, Leavanny should lead and set Sticky Web as soon as possible to support the team. (the opponent will almost always have some form of hazard removal, and HO wants webs down almost immediately)
  • Leavanny's main priority is to set Sticky Web. However, if the opponent has hazard removal and you can pick a KO or damage a foe and you know you can set up Sticky Web later, is not a bad idea to take the KO or damage the foe.

I really, really dislike how you're presenting leavanny here. advising its use later isn't how webs are played and makes it seem like it has value outside of just setting

(they pressure spinners and both are also able to pressure skunk, with oricorio-g threatening the ohko on offensive swanna with z-hurricane)
  • Golurk is a notable partner since it can abuse Sticky Web, provide Stealth Rock, spinblock and a solid Primeape check, which can be a pain to deal with on Sticky Web teams due its ability Defiant. (delete this and expand on golurk in the above point, because it's repetitive) (try to not repeat the word "abuse" in every bullet point)

  • A Sword Dance set could be use due Leavanny's decent Speed and Attack stat but this is done better by other grasses in the tier such as Leafeon or Shiftry with better offensive typings and priority in Shiftry's case. (leafeon doesn't have a better offensive typing)

[OVERVIEW]

Due its decent Speed stat, offensive presence and useful support moves, Leavanny stands out as the most reliable Sticky Web user in PU. Decent Attack stat, good STAB moves and its Bug and Grass typing makes Leavanny have good matchup against common Stealth Rock users in PU such as Golurk, Mesprit, Regirock and Carracosta. Leavanny's access to Knock Off lets it cripple eviolite users and other Pokemon. ('other pokemon' is really vague, maybe say 'Eviolite users such as Ferroseed etc' instead, or give examples of things it can knock off) Leavanny also gets Magic Coat which lets it bounce entry hazard and status moves (such as Taunt and Encore) against opponents like Archeops or Qwilfish. However, Leavanny's bad defensive typing, Stealth Rock weakness and average bulk makes it die quickly, which means it can't keep up Sticky Web reliably along the match. Knock Off removes items such as Leftovers and Eviolite from opposing Pokemon, helping teammates deal with them. (I think you can reword this to something like 'cripples them for the remainder of the battle.', I feel like it reads a bit better than 'helping teammates deal with them.') Magic Coat could also be used to bounce moves such as Stealth Rock, Spikes and Toxic Spikes from Pokemon like Qwilfish or Miltank. Magic Coat also bounces Taunt from Pokemon like Archeops and Pyroar and from Prankster users like Alolan-Persian. (Alolan Persian isnt a prankster user, change to something like Sableye)

252 Speed EVs and a Jolly nature is needed for Leavanny to outspeed base 90 Speed Pokemon such as Zangoose and set Sticky Web more freely versus them, specially if the Focus Sash is broken. 252 Attack EVs are used for maximizing Leavanny's damage output. Leavanny almost always has to be used as a lead to set Sticky Web as soon as possible. However if the opponent has a hazard removal Pokemon such as Swanna or Skuntank that you can't pressure enough, you can keep Leavanny around. Leavanny's main priority is to set Sticky Web but if the opponent has hazard removal and you can pick a KO or damage a foe and you know you can set up Sticky Web later, is not a bad idea to take the KO or damage the foe. (I understand what you're trying to say but it reads pretty weirdly, instead say something like 'In some cases it is better to inflict damage or knock out an opposing Pokemon rather than set up Sticky Web, especially if the opponent has good hazard removal.') If you already set up the Sticky Web and you are facing a Stealth Rock or Spikes user that you can't damage enough like Miltank or Qwilfish, spamming Magic Coat to prevent hazards on your field is a good idea. (you cant really stop Rocks from going up in the end since it has more pp than Magic Coat, Spikes is a little different as the opponent probably doesnt want 3 layers on their own side but both can be still be spinned and both have more PP than Magic Coat so this statement isnt true, you'd rather switch.)

Leavanny should be use on hyper offense teams which are the ones that can exploit Sticky Web. Good partners for Leavanny are the Pokemon that abuse Sticky Webs the most such as Zangoose or Haunter. Offensive Pokemon that can spinblock such as Golurk or Oricoro-G also make good partners for Leavanny because they help at keeping the Sticky Web up and also abuse it. Oricoro-G is notable because it also pressures defoggers like Swanna and Skuntank with its Supersonic Skystrike. (I wouldnt include Swanna here since it outspeeds Oricorio and can Defog before it gets knocked out) Golurk is another notable partner since it can abuse Sticky Web, provide Stealth Rock, spinblock and a solid Primeape check, which can be a pain to deal with on Sticky Web teams due its ability Defiant. Pokemon that can punish defog with its ability Defiant like Primeape or Pawniard are also great partners for Leavanny.
(Electric types such as Eelektross and Zebstrika help deal with the Flying-types like Archeops and Swanna that are unaffected by Sticky Web so I'd mention this here too.)

Chlorophyll and Overcoat could be use over Swarm, Chlorophyll provides a better matchup against sun teams and Overcoat protects Leavanny's Focus Sash from weather damage such as Abomasnow's Snow Warning or Hippopotas's Sand Stream. However sun teams aren't common and weather damage doesn't really stop Leavanny from setting Sticky Web. A Swords Dance set could be use due Leavanny's decent Speed and Attack stat but this is done better by other grasses in the tier such as Leafeon with its better stats or Shiftry with its better offensive typing and priority. A mixed set with Electroweb / Leaf Storm / Knock Off - Magic Coat / Sticky Web could be used. Electroweb helps beating leads such as Archeops with the Speed drop, Leaf Storm hits some psychical walls harder than Leaf Blade such as Qwilfish and Knock Off and Magic Coat serve the same purpose. However this means you get walled by Skuntank and you don't do much to Assault Vest Hitmonchan. (mention how Electroweb stops Swanna from Defogging since that is the main reason for it to run Electroweb.)

Checks and Counters
===================

**Fast Taunt Users**: Pokemon with a fast Taunt like Archeops and Pyroar can prevent Leavanny from setting Sticky Web, however they should watch out for Leavanny's STAB moves and Magic Coat if its carrying it.

**Hazard Removal**: Pokemon that can remove Leavanny's Sticky Web from the field after it faints such as Skuntank, Hitmonchan and Swanna invalidate the point of Leavanny being in your team. However this Pokemon have trouble switching in on Leavanny. (I wouldn't say they invalidate the point in Leavanny being on the team because they can all be pressured and prevented from removing by having the right teammates and playing well so reword this slightly. I'd also give Altaria a mention over Swanna since it takes Leavannys attacks a lot easier and can now defog whilst usually carrying Flamethrower.)

**Flying Types**: Flying-type Pokemon like Articuno and Oricoro-E are immune to Sticky Web, take nothing from Leavanny's attacks and threating it with super effective moves or use Leavanny as set up fodder.

**Fire Types**: Fire-type Pokemon like Combusken and Magmortar resist Leavanny's STAB moves and 1HKO (2HKO if sash is up) with its super effective STAB moves.
Good job 3/3

[OVERVIEW]

Due its decent Speed stat, offensive presence and useful support moves, Leavanny stands out as the most reliable Sticky Web user in PU. Decent Attack stat, good STAB moves and its Bug and Grass typing makes Leavanny have good matchup gives Leavanny a good matchup against common Stealth Rock users in PU such as Golurk, Mesprit, Regirock and Carracosta. Leavanny's access to Knock Off lets it cripple Pokemon holding items like Eviolite or Leftovers. Leavanny also gets Magic Coat which lets it bounce back entry hazards and status moves such as Taunt and Encore against opponents like Archeops or and Qwilfish,(AC) respectively. However, Leavanny's bad defensive typing, Stealth Rock weakness and average bulk makes it die quickly makes it very frail, which means it can't keep up Sticky Web reliably along during the match. (At first you say it is the most reliable, but then can't keep it up reliably. Maybe try to differentiate between the two qualities?)Leavanny's typing also makes it weak to common defoggers such as Skuntank and Swanna. Leavanny is overall a niche pick, as it lacks value outside of being a Sticky Web user. also really limited on what it does since it doesn't have a value outside of Sticky Web teams.

Sticky Web is the only reason for using the main draw of Leavanny, a hazard move that lowers opposing grounded Pokemon's Speed stat by one stage. Leaf Blade is one of Leavanny's STAB moves hitting Rock, Ground and Water-type Pokemon super effectively such as Carracosta, Golurk and Regirock, while also hitting Hitmonchan and Swanna for a decent amount of damage. X-Scissor serves as the other STAB move that hits Mesprit, Grass-type Pokemon such as Shiftry or Lilligant,(AC) and the most popular hazard remover form of hazard removal, Skuntank, which otherwise walls Leavanny gives it a free switch in. Knock Off removes items such as Leftovers and Eviolite from opposing Pokemon, which cripples them for the rest of the battle. Magic Coat could also be used to bounce entry hazards moves such as Stealth Rock, Spikes and Toxic Spikes from Pokemon like Qwilfish or Miltank,(AC) or .(RP) Magic Coat also bounces Taunt from Pokemon like Archeops and Pyroar and from Prankster users like Sableye.

Set Details

252 Speed EVs and a Jolly nature is needed for Leavanny to outspeed base 90 Speed Pokemon such as Zangoose and set up Sticky Web reliably more freely versus them, especially if the Focus Sash is broken. 252 Attack EVs are used for maximizing Leavanny's damage output. Focus Sash is the preferred item, (AC) because Leavanny is used as a suicide lead and it guarantees at least 1 Sticky Web in the match while also activating Leavanny's ability Swarm. Swarm is the preffered preferred ability over Chlorophyll and Overcoat due to the latter being more niche picks, while Swarm can boost the power of X-Scissor after the Focus Sash is used. because most of the time the Focus Sash will activate boosting its X-Scissor and because the other abilities aren't that useful.

Usage Tips
========

Leavanny should be used as a lead to set up Sticky Web early on almost always has to be used as a lead to set Sticky Web as soon as possible. However,(AC) if the opponent has a hazard removal Pokemon such as Swanna or Skuntank that you can't pressure enough, you can keep Leavanny around. (Sounds a bit awkward? Specify what to keep it around for?) Leavanny's main priority is to set Sticky Web,(AC) but can be used offensively as an alternative. in some cases it is better to inflict damage or knock out an opposing Pokemon rather than set up Sticky Web, especially if the opponent has good hazard removal. If you already set up the Sticky Web and you are facing a Stealth Rock or Spikes user that cannot be removed you can't damage enough like Miltank or Qwilfish, spamming Magic Coat to prevent hazards can be valuable. at least get the hazards on your opponent's field too before dying is a good idea. **Fast Taunt Users**: Pokemon with a fast Taunt like Archeops and Pyroar can prevent Leavanny from setting Sticky Web; however, they Archeops should watch out for Leavanny's STAB moves Leaf Blade and all Taunt users need to be wary of the possibility of Magic Coat if it's carrying it.

**Entry Hazard Removal**: Pokemon that can remove Leavanny's Sticky Web from the field after it faints such as Skuntank, and Hitmonchan renders Leavanny attemp Skuntank and Hitmonchan render Leavanny's attempts useless.

**Flying-Types Flying-types**: Flying-types like Articuno and Oricorio-E are immune to Sticky Web, take nothing from Leavanny's attacks, and threaten it with super effective moves or use Leavanny as setup fodder.

**Fire-Types Fire-types**: Fire-types like Combusken and Magmortar resist Leavanny's STAB moves and 1HKO KO it with their super effective STAB moves, if moves if Leavanny's Focus Sash has been broken, broken.
