[OVERVIEW]

Magmortar's amazing Fire typing, high Special Attack, and excellent coverage make it one of the best wallbreakers in the tier. Vital Sprit allows it to check top-tier threats that use sleep-inducing moves like Lilligant. Assault Vest Magmortar is also able to check prominent Ice-, Fire-, and Grass-types such as Jynx, Pyroar and Abomasnow. Fightinium Z allows Magmortar to nuke bulky Pokemon like Audino and Type: Null, which would otherwise give it trouble because it would have to rely on Focus Blast hitting. Magmortar's excellent coverage allows it to hit the entire tier; Thunderbolt hits Water-types like Poliwrath and Swanna, Earthquake punishes Lanturn, and Hidden Power Grass nukes Gastrodon. Despite these attributes, Magmortar can struggle to wallbreak against offensive teams because its goal is often to beat Lilligant; after doing so, it's usually revenge killed by faster foes such as Archeops and Primeape. Priority users such as Hitmonchan, Floatzel, and Kangaskhan can be annoying for Magmortar because its Defense is mediocre.

Moves
========

Fire Blast is Magmortar's preferred STAB attack because it does a tremendous amount of damage to foes with minimal drawbacks. Thunderbolt provides nice coverage that allows Magmortar to hit Water-types that resist Fire Blast like Qwilfish, Swanna, and Poliwrath. Focus Blast allows Magmortar to 2HKO bulky special walls such as Miltank, Regirock, and Audino. Hidden Power Grass is specifically for Gastrodon but can also be used to chip Lanturn and to reliably hit defensive Carracosta. Earthquake allows Magmortar to hit Lanturn and opposing Magmortar for good damage.

Set Details
========

60 HP EVs allow Assault Vest Magmortar to almost always take a +1 Breakneck Blitz from Liligant. Thanks to Assault Vest, Magmortar can also check prominent special attackers such as Pyroar and Mesprit. Maximum Special Attack with a Modest nature allows Magmortar to hit as hard as possible. The remaining Speed EVs allow Magmortar to outspeed Adamant Absol and Hitmonchan. A Modest nature is used even with Earthquake because it can still 3HKO Lanturn. Vital Spirit gives Magmortar immunity to sleep-inducing moves from Pokemon such as Lilligant.

Usage Tips
========

Magmortar should usually spam its Fire-type moves unless you predict a Fire-resistant Pokemon such as Munchlax to switch in. An effective way for Magmortar to get in safely is through a double switch, or a pivot move from the likes of Mesprit and Lanturn. Try to get Magmortar in on passive Pokemon such as Ferroseed, Gourgeist-XL, and Lurantis by double switching if entry hazards are not on the field so it can get a big hit off. However, Magmortar should be careful when switching into Jynx, which uses sleep induction but 2HKOes with Psyshock, and certain Fire- and Ice-types like Magmortar and Abomasnow, which often carry Earthquake. Magmortar should avoid switching in when entry hazards are up, and it should blanket check other special attackers like Lurantis and Manectric if the opponent does not have a Lilligant that it needs to preserve HP for.

Team Options
========

Entry hazard removal is important for Magmortar to repeatedly switch into the field to check special attackers, so hazard removers such as Skuntank and Swanna make good partners. Skuntank also absorbs Toxic Spikes, while Swanna can check Primeape. Lanturn provides a useful resistance to Water-type attacks from Pokemon like Swanna and can be used as a slow pivot. Healing Wish support from Mesprit is appreciated in case Magmortar gets worn down early. Mesprit is also a good pivot into physical attackers like Primeape and provides Stealth Rock support and a Ground immunity. Qwilfish and Ferroseed make good partners for Magmortar because they set entry hazards, which wear down its checks; the latter is also a reliable check to Water-types. Physical Floatzel makes for a good partner because it appreciates Magmortar breaking through foes like Qwilfish and Gastrodon to give it a better chance at sweeping late-game. Gastrodon is also an excellent partner for Magmortar because it is one of the best checks to Rock-types such as Lycanroc and Archeops. In return, Magmortar is able to check Grass-types like Lilligant.

item: Fightinium Z / Life Orb
ability: Vital Spirit
nature: Timid / Modest
evs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe

Moves
========

Fire Blast is an extremely powerful STAB move that hits any Pokemon that does not resist it for a lot of damage. Thunderbolt is used to hit Pokemon that resist Fire Blast such as Poliwrath, Floatzel, and Archeops. Focus Blast is used to dent bulky special walls such as Audino and Miltank. Hidden Power Grass is used typically to hit Gastrodon hard but also is nice for chipping Lanturn and OHKOing offensive Carracosta. Earthquake is a nice surprise that allows Magmortar to 3HKO Lanturn and OHKO opposing Magmortar after Stealth Rock.

Set Details
========

Maximum Special Attack investment with a Modest nature allows Magmortar to be as powerful as possible while outspeeding Adamant Hitmonchan. The maximum Speed investment with a Timid nature allows Magmortar to outspeed Timid base 80 Speed Pokemon such as Mesprit. Fightinium Z enables Magmortar to destroy special walls like Audino and Type: Null. Vital Spirit is useful for avoiding sleep-inducing moves like Lilligant's Sleep Powder. Life Orb is an alternative item that will boost Magmortar's attacks slightly at the cost of making it worn down faster.

Usage Tips
========

Magmortar is best played as an early- and mid-game wallbreaker, utilizing its powerful STAB move along with its excellent coverage. Against balanced archetypes, Magmortar can usually exert pressure with Fire Blast and All-Out Pummeling easily. Magmortar should preserve All-Out Pummeling to break through bulky special walls such as Audino, Type: Null, and Miltank so teammates such as Liligant can more easily clean up late-game. Bring Magmortar in using a slow VoltTurn user like Lanturn or Mesprit or when a teammate faints, and try to avoid switching it in directly, especially if entry hazards are on the field.

Team Options
========

Magmortar is weak to Stealth Rock and Spikes, so hazard removers like Swanna and Hitmonchan make good partners for it. Hitmonchan pressures special walls like Type: Null and Miltank, while Swanna beats Primeape and Assault Vest Hitmonchan. Magmortar can be paired with special sweepers such as Jynx and Lilligant because it can break through special walls like Type: Null and Munchlax with All-Out Pummeling. Hazard users like Qwilfish can provide Spikes, which makes Magmortar an even scarier wallbreaker. Qwilfish can also absorb Toxic Spikes and has different support options like Thunder Wave, which slows down faster foes like Primeape. Slower pivots like Eelektross and Mesprit can bring Magmortar in safely, giving it the opportunity to punch holes into the opposing team more easily. Mesprit is also a good Ground-immune Pokemon and Stealth Rock user, while Eelektross can use Knock Off to cripple bulky Pokemon like Type: Null and Munchlax so Magmortar can more easily break through them.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Flame Charge can be used to boost Magmortar's Speed, which can let the wallbreaker set sweep, but it has to drop Earthquake or Hidden Power Grass. Firium Z can be used as a powerful nuke on sun teams against blanket checks such as Type: Null. Taunt can cripple passive Pokemon that try to recover against Magmortar like Clefairy, making Magmortar a reliable stallbreaker, but it can be costly because Magmortar has to give up Hidden Power Grass or Earthquake. Flamethrower is a slightly less powerful alternative to Fire Blast that is more reliable due to its perfect accuracy, but it importantly fails to 2HKO defensive Mesprit. Expert Belt makes Hidden Power Grass OHKO Gastrodon after Stealth Rock and boosts super effective attacks without the cost of recoil, but Magmortar does not use a lot of neutral attacks, so it's not very useful. Choice Scarf Magmortar can be used to revenge kill fast threats like Swanna and Archeops, but being Choice-locked into Thunderbolt means special sweepers like Lilligant can set up freely. A Belly Drum set sounds appealing, but it struggles to find a setup opportunity and faster threats revenge kill it anyway because Mach Punch is weak.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Faster Pokemon**: Fast Pokemon like Archeops and Primeape are able to outspeed Magmortar and OHKO it with their respective STAB attacks; however, these Pokemon cannot switch into Magmortar safely.

**Priority**: Strong priority users such as Hitmonchan, Kangaskhan, Kabutops, and Absol put pressure on Magmortar with their strong priority attacks, but chip damage on Magmortar is required to KO it with them.

**Entry Hazards**: If Stealth Rock, Spikes, or Toxic Spikes is on the field, it will hinder Magmortar's longevity.

**Specially Bulky Pokemon**: Magmortar is reliant on its Z-Move to break through Pokemon such as Type: Null and Munchlax; if the opponent switches them away from on a predicted All-Out Pummeling, Magmortar will have trouble breaking through them later on. Assault Vest Magmortar also has trouble beating Pokemon like Regirock.

**Water-types**: Lanturn deserves a special mention because it's able to tank all of Magmortar's moves with ease bar Earthquake. It can cripple Magmortar with Thunder Wave or Toxic or wear Magmortar down with Scald. Floatzel is able to outspeed and OHKO Magmortar with Waterfall. Gastrodon can wall Magmortar with ease if it lacks Hidden Power Grass.

Is there a reason not to run Rash or Mild (or Hasty or Naiv on the Wallbreaker set) to get more out of Earthquake's power?

[OVERVIEW]
  • Magmortar is capable of functioning well against both defensive and offensive teams. Magmortar's amazing Fire typing and base 125 Special Attack in conjuction to its excellent coverage makes it one of the best wallbreakers in the tier.
  • Magmortar's abillity, Vital Sprit, allows it to check top tier threats like Jynx and Liligant that use sleep-inducing moves such as Sleep Powder and Lovely Kiss.
  • Fightinium Z allows Magmortar to nuke special walls like Audino and Type: Null. Type:Null takes like 60 from AoP so maybe use a different example like Miltank
  • Magmortar's array of coverage moves can to hit the entire tier neutrally. Thunderbolt rounds out coverage hitting Water-types like Qwilfish and Swanna while Earthquake punishes Lanturn and Hidden Power Grass nukes Gastrodon.
  • Magmortars special bulk equipped with an Assault Vest allows it to check popular Ice-, and Fire-types like Pyroar and Jynx. Grass types too
  • Despite these attributes, Magmortar is very easy to pressure; while its able to plow through most Pokemon, its outsped and KOed by faster threats such as Archeops and Primeape because its Speed tier is mediocre. On top of this, Magmortar has paper thin physical defense and is worn down quickly between Stealth Rock and Spike Damage due to its Fire typing. I'd change 'paper thin' to just to something like 'subpar' since paper thin is what i'd consider something like Kadabra's or Mr.Mime's defense would be
  • Priority users such as Hitmonchan, Floatzel, and Kangaskhan can be annoying for Magmortar since its physical defense is mediocre.

  • Earthquake allows Magmortar to hit Lanturn and opposing AV Magmortar harder.
  • Hidden Power Grass is specfically for Gastrodon but can be used to chip Lanturn and to OHKO Defensive Carracosta. since Focus Blast OHKO's Offensive Costa too unless u wanna mention without it missing

  • Setup Sweepers such as Liligant, Floatzel and Mesprit apperciate Magmortar's abillity to break through special walls such as Audino and Miltank. You mention Floatzel as a setup sweeper but then go onto mention special walls, i'd probably swap Floatzel with something else or change 'Setup Sweepers' to 'Special Attackers'
  • Qwilfish and Ferroseed make good partners for Magmortar because they set entry hazards which makes Magmortar even more difficult to switch into. mention their useful water resistances too
  • Pokemon that can take on Rock Types like Lycanroc

  • Hidden Power Grass is used typically to hit Gastrodon harder but also is nice for chipping Lanturn and doing more damage to Carracosta. change 'doing more damage to Carracosta' to 'grabbing the OHKO on defensive Carracosta' same reason as before
Set Details

  • The maximum Speed investment with a Timid nature allows Magmortar to outspeed Timid base 80 Speed Pokemon such as Mesprit.
  • Fightinium Z enables Magmortar to destroy special walls like Audino. Vital Spirit is useful for avoiding sleep-inducing moves from Lilligant's Sleep Powder and Jynx's Lovely Kiss. Make Vital Spirit a separate bullet point

  • Magmortar is best played as an early- and mid-game wallbreaker, utilizing its high-powered STAB moves along with its excellent coverage.
  • Against balanced archetypes with usually fast and defensive Pokemon, Magmortar can exert pressure with Fire Blast and All-Out Pummeling.
    This set should be used early-game to punch holes in the opposing team, as it allows teammates such as Liligant to clean up late-game. Magmortar should use All-Out Pummeling to break bulky Special walls such as Audino, Type: Null and Miltank. You already mentioned the early game part so i'd remove that to avoid repetition
  • Magmortar can be sent out on weaker Pokemon like Ferroseed or resisted moves, since it can punish passive Pokemon well; however, avoid switching Magmortar into stronger neutral moves because it has a harder time tanking hits without Assault Vest.
  • Bring Magmortar in using a slow VoltTurn user like Lanturn or when a teammate faints, and generally try to avoid switching in directly especially if entry hazards are on the field.
Team Options
========
  • Magmortar is weak to Stealth Rocks and Spikes so hazard removers like Swanna and Hitmonchan make good partners for Magmortar.
  • Hazard users like Qwilfish can provide Spikes which makes Magmortar an even scary wallbreaker. Qwilfish in particular is a good partner because it can absorb Toxic Spikes and has different support options like Thunder Wave that can help slow down faster foes which makes up for Magmortar's Speed tier.
  • Magmortar has some trouble getting a safe switch onto the field due to entry hazards hindering it, so it greatly benefits from a slow U-turn or Volt Switch from the likes of Mesprit and Lanturn. Mesprit in particular is a potent Ground immunity and Stealth Rock user.
  • Water, Ground and Rock resistances here too
[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============
  • Flame Charge can be used to boost Magmortar's speed which makes it harder to revenge kill.
  • Life Orb is an alternative that will boost Magmortar's attacks slightly at the cost of 1/10 of its HP which is why a Z-move like Fightinium Z is typically better.
  • Firium Z with Sunny Day can be used as a powerful nuke on Sun teams. You can mention Z-Fire Blast as a 1 time nuke too against blanket checks
  • Taunt can be used to cripple passive Pokemon like Clefairy that try to recover against Magmortar.
  • Flamethrower is a slightly less powerful alternative that is more reliable due to its perfect accuracy.
  • Expert Belt is able to grab the OHKO on Gastrodon after Stealth Rocks with HP Grass whilst hitting making your other Super Effective moves hit for more damage and not giving recoil.
Checks and Counters
===================

**Faster Pokemon**: Fast Pokemon like Archeops, Primeape and Floatzel are able to outspeed and OHKO Magmortar with their respective STAB attacks.

**Priority**: Strong Priority users such as Hitmonchan, Kangaskhan, Kabutops and Absol put pressure on Magmortar with their strong priority attacks.

**Residual Damage**: If Stealth Rocks or Spikes are on the field they will hinder Magmortar's longevity. Toxic and Thunder Wave can also severely cripple Magmortar.

**Bulky Pokemon**: Magmortar is reliant on its Z-move to break through Pokemon like Type: Null and if the opponent preserves Type: Null on a predicted All-Out Pummeling then Magmortar will have trouble breaking later on. Magmortar also has to predict against Pokemon like Regirock since they carry Protect and if Magmortar mispredicts it can be costly. Could maybe mention Munchlax here too as it's pretty much the only hard counter

**Water-types**: Lanturn deserves a special mention as a check because its able to tank all of Magmortar's moves with ease and it can opt to cripple with Thunder Wave, Toxic or wear Magmortar down with Scald. Due to Floatzel's stellar Speed tier its able to outspeed and OHKO Magmortar with Waterfall.
Good job! QC 1/3

  • Magmortar's abillity, Vital Sprit, allows it to check top tier threats like Jynx and Liligant that use sleep-inducing moves such as Sleep Powder and Lovely Kiss. (change order of moves to reflect the pokemon using them)
  • Fightinium Z allows Magmortar to nuke special walls like Audino and Miltank. (kinda gonna go against what Taskr said here, because z focus blast into regular focus blast is able to break type: null fairly easily) (it also nukes piloswine too, which is at least worth a mention because it lives a standard focus blast)
  • Magmortar's array of coverage moves can to hit the entire tier neutrally (doesn't make sense). Thunderbolt rounds out coverage hitting Water-types like Qwilfish and Swanna while Earthquake punishes Lanturn and Hidden Power Grass nukes Gastrodon. (if you're saying something is "rounding out", that usually implies it's referenced at the end, which it isn't) (i'd also rather mention poliwrath over qwilfish because qwilfish is basically 2hkoed by fire blast and does very little to it in return)
  • Magmortars special bulk equipped with an Assault Vest allows it to check popular Ice-, Fire-, and Grass-types such as Pyroar, Jynx and Liligant. (don't say popular, say something like prominent) (this is also worded kind of weirdly and the first bit doesn't make sense)
  • Despite these attributes, Magmortar is very easy to pressure; while its able to plow through most Pokemon, its outsped and KOed by faster threats such as Archeops and Primeape because its Speed tier is mediocre. On top of this, Magmortar has subpar physical defense and is worn down quickly between Stealth Rock and Spike Damage due to its Fire typing. (untrue, please specify it's offensively pressured; very few things defensively pressured) (also its fire-typing has no effect on how much spikes does to it, so that 100% needs to be rephrased)
  • Priority users such as Hitmonchan, Floatzel, and Kangaskhan can be annoying for Magmortar since its physical defense is mediocre.

  • 60 Hp investment allows Magmortar to surive +1 Breakneck Blitz from Lilligant. Magmortar is also able to tank Pyroar's Hyper Voice and Mesprit's Psychic better. (mention that it allows it to almost always live a +1 breakneck blitz, because it's a roll heavily in your favour) (also i wouldn't really say tank, both are rolls for a 2hko)
  • Maximum Special Attack with a Modest Nature allows Magmortar to hit as hard as possible. The remaining Speed EVS allows Magmortar to outspeed Adamant Absol and Hitmonchan. Modest nature can be used with Earthquake because it can still 3HKO Lanturn. (not "modest nature can be used...", modest nature is used. you'd only say "can be used" if there was another nature slashed or at least suggested, which there isn't)
  • Vital Spirit gives Magmortar an immunity to sleep-inducing moves from Pokemon such as Liligant and Jynx. (mention the moves too)
  • Assault vest mention here please
Usage Tips

  • Magmortar's best bet is to spam Fire Blast unless the opponent has Pokemon that are immune to Fire (i think you mean anything that resists fire, because very few relevant mons are straight immune to it). • Try to get Magmortar in on passive Pokemon such as Ferroseed so you can get a big hit off. (mention more than just ferro here, things like gourgeist and lurantis usually allow it in relatively free)
  • Magmortar should be careful switching into sleep-inducing users like Jynx because Psyshock can 2HKO it. (no, just jynx really, it can switch into a neutral lilligant fairly safely actually)
  • Be careful switching Magmortar on certain Fire-, and Ice-types like Abomasnow and opposing Magmortar because they often carry coverage moves such as Earthquake.
  • Magmortar can blanket check other Special attackers like Lurantis and Manectric if the opponent does not have Jynx or Liligant that it needs to preserve HP for.

  • Slower Pivots like Eelektross and Mesprit can bring Magmortar in safely and give it the opportunity to punch holes into the opposing team more easily. (eelektross can use knock off to cripple things like type: null and munchlax)
  • Lanturn provides useful resistances to Water-type attacks from Pokemon like Swanna, and can be used as a slow pivot. (with volt switch, can also provide heal bell support too)
  • Healing Wish support from Mesprit is apperciated incase Magmortar gets worn down early. Mesprit also is a great pivot and provides Stealth Rock support an a Ground immunity. (several spelling mistakes here by the way) (good pivot into physical pokemon too)
  • Special attackers such as Liligant, Floatzel and Mesprit apperciate Magmortar's abillity to break through special walls such as Audino and Miltank.
  • Qwilfish and Ferroseed make good partners for Magmortar because they set entry hazards which makes Magmortar even more difficult to switch into, the former is also reliable Water-type checks. (it's more that it wears down its checks rather than making it more difficult to switch into) (how is the latter not a reliable water-type check?)
  • Magmortar is weak to Rock-types like Lycanroc, so teammates such as Gastrodon can be used to check it.
I have yet to see any mention of what Magmortar actually does to help its teammates, only mention of what can support it

  • Maximum Special Attack investment with a Modest nature allows Magmortar to be as powerful as possible.
  • The maximum Speed investment with a Timid nature allows Magmortar to outspeed Timid base 80 Speed Pokemon such as Mesprit. (you need to separate the natures and talk about the slashed one separately to the main one, because you don't say what modest magmortar outspeeds)
  • Fightinium Z enables Magmortar to destroy special walls like Audino. (also helps it beat type: null and piloswine) (focus blast into aoa lets it break gastrodon too)
  • Vital Spirit is useful for avoiding sleep-inducing moves from Lilligant's Sleep Powder and Jynx's Lovely Kiss. (reword slightly)
Usage Tips

  • Magmortar is best played as an early- and mid-game wallbreaker, utilizing its high-powered STAB moves along with its excellent coverage. (stab move, not plural)
  • Against balanced archetypes with usually fast and defensive Pokemon, Magmortar can exert pressure with Fire Blast and All-Out Pummeling. (this doesn't make sense, i don't understand what point you're trying to make here)
    Magmortar should use All-Out Pummeling to break bulky Special walls such as Audino, Type: Null and Miltank so teammates such as Liligant can clean up late-game easier. (but it also breaks physical walls too, like regirock for example)
  • Magmortar can be sent out on weaker Pokemon like Ferroseed or resisted moves, since it can punish passive Pokemon well; however, avoid switching Magmortar into stronger neutral moves because it has a harder time tanking hits without Assault Vest. (what resisted moves, what pokemon apart from ferroseed does it actually want to switch in on? what passive pokemon?) (i don't think you want to cross reference sets)
  • Bring Magmortar in using a slow VoltTurn user like Lanturn or when a teammate faints, and generally try to avoid switching in directly especially if entry hazards are on the field. (if you're saying volt turn, then also mention a u-turn user)

  • Magmortar is weak to Stealth Rocks and Spikes so hazard removers like Swanna and Hitmonchan make good partners for Magmortar. (hitmonchan also pressures type: null, munchlax and miltank) (swanna pressures assault vest hitmonchan and primeape)
  • Magmortar has some trouble getting a safe switch onto the field due to entry hazards hindering it (this is a separate point in-itself actually, because even if you're pivoted in you still take entry hazard damage), so it greatly benefits from a slow U-turn or Volt Switch from the likes of Mesprit and Lanturn. Mesprit in particular is a potent Ground immunity and Stealth Rock user. (potent ground-immunity?)
  • Gastrodon is an excellent partner for Magmortar because it takes on Ground-, and Rock-types such as Alolan Dugtrio and Lycanroc; it is also immune to Water-type attacks.
How does it help any of these pokemon? you need to mention what it does for its teammates too! you also mention very similar teammates, maybe you could mix it up; poliwrath for example is also a good water check

  • Flame Charge can be used to boost Magmortar's speed which makes it harder to revenge kill. (also allows the wallbreaker set to potentially sweep) (mention it has to drop either earthquake or hidden power grass though)
  • Life Orb is an alternative that will boost Magmortar's attacks slightly at the cost of 1/10 of its HP which is why a Z-move like Fightinium Z is typically better. (means it is worn down a lot easier too)
  • Firium Z with Sunny Day can be used as a powerful nuke against blanket checks such as Type: Null in Sun. (not sure if you've phrased this right, you give the impression that you're using firium-z with sunny day? which essentially boosts its speed)
  • Taunt can be used to cripple passive Pokemon like Clefairy that try to recover against Magmortar. (allows it to act as a reliable stallbreaker too)
  • Flamethrower is a slightly less powerful alternative that is more reliable due to its perfect accuracy. (does this miss out on any kills, just curious)
  • Expert Belt is able to grab the OHKO on Gastrodon after Stealth Rocks with HP Grass whilst hitting making your other Super Effective moves hit for more damage and not giving recoil.
Checks and Counters
===================

**Faster Pokemon**: Fast Pokemon like Archeops, Primeape and Floatzel are able to outspeed and OHKO Magmortar with their respective STAB attacks. (cannot switch in to it usually)

**Priority**: Strong Priority users such as Hitmonchan, Kangaskhan, Kabutops and Absol put pressure on Magmortar with their strong priority attacks. (they all require a certain amount of chip and none of them bar hitmonchan want to directly take a hit from it)

**Residual Damage**: If Stealth Rocks or Spikes are on the field they will hinder Magmortar's longevity. Toxic and Thunder Wave can also severely cripple Magmortar. (what would toxic or thunder wave it) (mention that it's also weak to stealth rock due to its fire typing)

**Bulky Pokemon**: Magmortar is reliant on its Z-move to break through Pokemon such as Type: Null and Munchlax, if the opponent preserves the latter on a predicted All-Out Pummeling then Magmortar will have trouble breaking them later on. Magmortar also has to predict against Pokemon like Regirock since they carry Protect and if Magmortar mispredicts it can be costly.

(lanturn has to be wary of earthquake however)
Looks good, however please read it over when you're writing this up because there's quite a few mistakes! 2/3 QC

Actually, talking to Anty, it doesn't really even check jynx that well

[OVERVIEW]

Magmortar is capable of functioning well against both defensive and offensive teams. really awkward way to start ur analysis here, it's not real info like "it's a strong wallbreaker" it's just "hey it does well vs things". Plus with the sentence below, why is this even here Magmortar's amazing Fire typing and base 125 Special Attack in conjunction with its excellent coverage makes it one of the best wallbreakers in the tier. Magmortar's ability, Vital Sprit, allows it to check top tier threats like Jynx and Liligant that use sleep-inducing moves such as Lovely Kiss and Sleep Powder. Fightinium Z allows Magmortar to nuke special walls like Audino, Type: Null and Piloswine. is this rly that important? mentioning that it has an AV and wallbreaker set yes, but u mention fight z and nothing else about the set differentiation until later which is weird Magmortar's excellent coverage allows it to hit the entire tier. Thunderbolt hits Water-types like Poliwrath and Swanna, Earthquake punishes Lanturn and Hidden Power Grass nukes Gastrodon. Assault Vest Magmortar can check prominent Ice-, Fire-, and Grass-types such as Pyroar, Jynx, and Liligant. Despite these attributes, Magmortar can struggle to wallbreak against offensive teams because Pokemon such as Archeops and Primeape are faster that's cuz u don't wallbreak vs offensive teams, u use it to get a kill on the one thing it beats like lilli or w/e and then let it die. Lastly, priority users such as Hitmonchan, Floatzel, and Kangaskhan can be annoying for Magmortar since its physical defense is mediocre.

Fire Blast is Magmortar's preferred STAB attack because it does a tremendous amount of damage to foes with minimal drawbacks. Thunderbolt is nice coverage that allows Magmortar to hit Water-types like Qwilfish, Swanna, and Poliwrath that resist Fire Blast. Focus Blast allows Magmortar to 2HKO bulky special walls such as Miltank, Regirock, and Audino. Hidden Power Grass is specifically for Gastrodon but can be used to chip Lanturn and as a reliable way to hit Defensive Carracosta. Earthquake allows Magmortar to hit Lanturn and opposing AV Magmortar harder "harder" is weird cuz none of ur other moves are that good against it (fb sux).

Set Details
========

60 Hp investment EVs not investment allows Magmortar to almost always live a +1 Breakneck Blitz i believe z-hyper beam is the proper term to be specific? unsure but cant hurt idt from Liligant with assault vest. Assault Vest on Magmortar is used to take Pyroar's Hyper Voice and Mesprit's Psychic better ur implying that it's for a few moves rather than just being generally good for taking on lots of things, which is weird. av helps with a ton of random stuff. Maximum Special Attack with a Modest Nature allows Magmortar to hit as hard as possible. The remaining Speed EVS allow Magmortar to outspeed Adamant Absol and Hitmonchan. Modest nature is used with Earthquake because it can 3HKO Lanturn either way. Vital Spirit gives Magmortar an immunity to sleep-inducing moves from Pokemon such as Liligant and Jynx.

Usage Tips
========

Magmortar's best bet is to spam Fire Blast unless the opponent has Pokemon that resist Fire. If the opponent has Pokemon that immune or resist Fire-type attacks, Magmortar should use its coverage moves such as Thunderbolt or Earthquake against them this is painfully obvious, the kind of thing that could easily be extended to talk about predictions on coverage moves or something. but "use ur main stab unless resist then use coverage" is the kind of thing u don't put in UT for being too obvious. An effective way for Magmortar to get in safely is through a double switch, a Volt Switch or U-turn user like Mesprit's U-turn or Lanturn's Volt Switch. Try to get Magmortar in on passive Pokemon such as Ferroseed, Gourgeist-XL, and Lurantis so it can get a big hit off. However, Magmortar should be careful when switching into a sleep-inducing user like Jynx and on certain Fire-, and Ice-types like Abomasnow and opposing Magmortar because Jynx can 2HKO it with Psyshock, while the latter often carry coverage moves such as Earthquake. Lastly, use Magmortar to blanket check other Special attackers like Lurantis and Manectric if the opponent does not have Jynx or Liligant that it needs to preserve HP for. i don't see anything about avoiding bringing it in when rocks are up, or preserving its health if the opposing team has somth like lilligant if that's a problem for ur team

Team Options
========

Entry hazard removal is an important aspect for Magmortar to continuously switch into the field so hazard removers such as Skuntank and Swanna make good partners since they remove Stealth Rocks and Spikes. Skuntank also absorbs Toxic Spikes for Magmortar, while Swanna can check Primeape. Slower Pivots like Eelektross and Mesprit can bring Magmortar in safely and give Magmortar the opportunity to punch holes into opposing team more easily. Eelektross can use Knock Off to cripple bulky Pokemon like Type: Null and Munchlax so Magmortar can break through them easier. Lanturn provides useful resistances to Water-type attacks from Pokemon like Swanna and can be used as a slow pivot. Healing Wish support from Mesprit is also appreciated incase Magmortar gets worn down early. Mesprit is a good pivot into physical attackers like Primeape and provides Stealth Rock support and a Ground immunity. Qwilfish and Ferroseed make good partners for Magmortar because they set entry hazards which wear down its checks easier, the latter is also reliable Water-type checks for Magmortar. Gastrodon is also an excellent partner for Magmortar because it is one of the best checks to Lycanroc rock types in general, arch is just as annoying. Lastly, Magmortar can wallbreak through bulky special walls like Miltank and Type: Null which helps teammates such as Liligant, and Mesprit.

Fire Blast is an extremely powerful STAB move that hits any Pokemon that does not resist it for a lot of damage. Thunderbolt is used to hit Pokemon that resist Fire Blast such as Poliwrath, Floatzel, and Archeops. Focus Blast is used to dent bulky special walls such as Audino, and Miltank. Hidden Power Grass is used typically to hit Gastrodon harder but also is nice for chipping Lanturn and grabbing the OHKO on offensive Carracosta. Earthquake is a nice lure that allows Magmortar to 3HKO Lanturn and OHKO opposing Magmortar after Stealth Rocks.

Set Details
========

Maximum Special Attack investment with a Modest nature allows Magmortar to be as powerful as possible and outspeed Adamant Hitmonchan. The maximum Speed investment with a Timid nature allows Magmortar to outspeed Timid base 80 Speed Pokemon such as Mesprit. Fightinium Z enables Magmortar to destroy special walls like Audino, Type: Null and Piloswine. Vital Spirit is useful for avoiding sleep-inducing moves from Lilligant's Sleep Powder and Jynx's Lovely Kiss. move life orb to set details, having z move as the only option is weird for a mon that really isn't super z move reliant or anything

Usage Tips
========

Magmortar is best played as an early- and mid-game wallbreaker, utilizing its high-powered STAB move along with its excellent coverage. Against balanced archetypes, Magmortar can usually exert pressure with Fire Blast and All-Out Pummeling easily. Magmortar should use All-Out Pummeling to break bulky Special walls such as Audino, Type: Null and Miltank so teammates such as Liligant can clean up late-game easier. Magmortar can be sent out on weaker Pokemon like Ferroseed and Lurantis because it can punish them well. Lastly, bring Magmortar in using a slow VoltTurn user like Lanturn and Mesprit or when a teammate faints, and generally, try to avoid switching in directly especially if entry hazards are on the field. some of these points are copied exactly from the upper UT, like i definitely remember seeing the ferro and lurantis point. don't do that. also i don't see anything about preserving/predicting with the z move, like if u think they gonna predict and switch or they have a type null and u need it

Team Options
========

Magmortar is weak to Stealth Rocks and Spikes so hazard removers like Swanna and Hitmonchan make good partners for Magmortar. Hitmonchan pressures Magmortar's checks like Type: Null and Miltank while Swanna beats Primeape and Assault Vest Hitmonchan. Magmortar breaks through special walls like Type: Null and Munchlax so special attackers such as Mesprit and Liligant benefit. Hazard users like Qwilfish can provide Spikes which makes Magmortar an even scary wallbreaker. Qwilfish, in particular, is a good partner because it can absorb Toxic Spikes and has different support options like Thunder Wave that can help slow down faster foes like Primeape for Magmortar. Magmortar has some trouble getting a safe switch onto the field due to entry hazards hindering it, so it greatly benefits from a slow U-turn or Volt Switch from the likes of Mesprit and Lanturn. Mesprit, in particular, is a good Ground immunity and Stealth Rock user. Gastrodon is an excellent partner for Magmortar because it takes on Ground-, and Rock-types such as Alolan Dugtrio and Lycanroc; it is also immune to Water-type attacks.

lots of points copied exactly from the upper TO here which is just still totally unacceptable, even if u just changed the examples i wouldnt mind so much but like, the effort here is not gud. also these two sets play differently yet the entire TO is the same which i don't get, i would focus more on hazard support and defensive partners for AV and more on stuff that appreciates wallbreaking and normals/regirock being lured in fight-z

TJ, can you remove any mention of it checking Jynx please. It's 2HKO'd by Psyshock and drops to a +2 attack. I know it does technically absorb Lovely Kiss, but it's such a shaky check that I don't think you should include it.

Moves

Fire Blast is an extremely powerful STAB move that hits any Pokemon that does not resist it for a lot of damage. Thunderbolt is used to hit Pokemon that resist Fire Blast such as Poliwrath, Floatzel, and Archeops. Focus Blast is used to dent bulky special walls such as Audino and Miltank. Hidden Power Grass is used typically to hit Gastrodon hard but also is nice for chipping Lanturn and OHKOing offensive Carracosta. Earthquake is a nice surprise lure (sharp hooks don't lure fish; Earthquake does not lure mons that are weak to Ground) that allows Magmortar to 3HKO Lanturn and OHKO opposing Magmortar after Stealth Rock.

Set Details
========

Usage Tips
========

========

Mesprit is also a good Ground-immune Pokemon and Stealth Rock user, (add comma) while Eelektross can use Knock Off to cripple bulky Pokemon like Type: Null and Munchlax so Magmortar can more easily break through them.

Other Options
=============

Flame Charge can be used to boost Magmortar's Speed, which can let make the wallbreaker set potentially sweep, but it has to drop Earthquake or Hidden Power Grass. Expert Belt makes Hidden Power Grass OHKO Gastrodon after Stealth Rock and boosts super effective attacks without the cost of recoil, (add comma) but Magmortar does not use a lot of neutral attacks, so itls it's not very useful. Choice Scarf Magmortar can be used to revenge kill fast threats like Swanna and Archeops, but being Choice-locked into Thunderbolt means special sweepers like Lilligant can set up freely. A Belly Drum set sounds appealing, but it struggles to find a setup opportunity and faster threats revenge kill it anyways because Mach Punch is weak.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Faster Pokemon**: Fast Pokemon like Archeops and Primeape are able to outspeed Magmortar and OHKO it Magmortar with their respective STAB attacks; however, these Pokemon cannot switch into Magmortar safely.
