[OVERVIEW]

Mega Gyarados is a top-tier Mega Evolution due to its combination of solid stats and dual typing. Thanks to its Water typing, Mega Gyarados can switch in on Water-, Ice-, and Steel-type moves from the likes of Cloyster and Melmetal reliably, while its Dark typing makes it an excellent switch-in to Psychic-type moves from Mega Alakazam, Mew, and Starmie. Its typing change upon Mega Evolving also allows it to potentially trick opposing Pokemon like Mega Alakazam that try to click the appropriate move. Very few Pokemon resist its STAB attacks; it has coverage in Earthquake to hit Pokemon like Poliwrath that do; and, thanks to its high Attack that allows it to 2HKO notable threats like Dragonite and Zapdos with Stealth Rock support, it functions as a great cleaner and wallbreaker. However, Mega Gyarados's typing leaves it weak to Bug-type threats like Mega Beedrill and Electric-type threats like Zapdos, which also happen to outspeed it. Pokemon like Starmie and Mega Alakazam, which it normally checks, can also run super effective coverage moves like Thunderbolt in Mega Gengar and Starmie's case and Dazzling Gleam in Mega Alakazam's case. Finally, Mega Gyarados has no reliable recovery and thus can be worn down easily, especially when taking into account its weakness to Stealth Rock before Mega Evolving.

[SET]
name: Wallbreaker / Cleaner
move 1: Waterfall
move 2: Crunch
move 3: Earthquake
move 4: Substitute / Thunder Wave
item: Gyaradosite
nature: Adamant

[SET COMMENTS]
Set Information
========

Waterfall gets STAB and can also be used to fish for flinches when outspeeding the opposing Pokemon. Crunch makes Mega Gyarados a reliable check to Psychic-type Pokemon and can also cause useful Defense drops. Earthquake allows Mega Gyarados to hit Alolan Muk, Melmetal, and Poliwrath harder than its STAB moves. Substitute allows Mega Gyarados to avoid status conditions from the likes of Eevee-S and Melmetal and also gives it a safe spot to hide from weak attacks. Mega Gyarados's ability to force switches also makes it easier to set it up. Alternatively, Thunder Wave can be used to slow down the opposing Pokemon and annoy them with Waterfall flinches and paralysis and also aids Mega Gyarados's teammates later in the game. An Adamant nature allows Mega Gyarados to hit harder, as the Pokemon it 2HKOes, such as Dragonite, rarely run a +Speed nature as well.

Usage Tips
========

Mega Gyarados should be used primarily to wallbreak and clean the opposing team thanks to its high Attack. Additionally, it can be used as a lead against potential Stealth Rock setters bar Mew, which can outspeed and burn it. If it's the only Mega Gengar and Mega Alakazam check on the team, Mega Evolving as soon as possible is recommended. If predicting a switch, Mega Gyarados should use Substitute to have an easier time wearing down the switch-in. Substitute can also be used against Pokemon that cannot hit it hard or against status-inducing moves, such as Melmetal's Thunder Wave. Mega Gyarados should be switched in when predicting the foe to use a resisted move, such as a Water- or Ice-type move from Cloyster, a Steel-type move from Melmetal, or a Psychic-type move from Mega Alakazam, Starmie, and Mew. However, it should avoid switching into common status inducers such as Eevee-S. Finally, it is recommended to keep Mega Gyarados as healthy as possible so it can switch in multiple times and do its job properly.

Team Options
========

Zapdos is a good teammate to consider, as it can lure in Ground-types like Rhydon, Nidoqueen, and Alolan Dugtrio and safely bring in Mega Gyarados with U-turn, which can use this as opportunity to clean. It also deals well with annoying threats to Mega Gyarados such as Mega Venusaur and Poliwrath. Ground-types, such as Rhydon, Alolan Dugtrio, and Nidoqueen, can switch into Electric-type moves that threaten Mega Gyarados and can also set up Stealth Rock, which helps Mega Gyarados to break the opposing team. A late-game sweeper, such as Nasty Plot Mew or Agility Dragonite, appreciates Mega Gyarados's ability to wear down foes as well. An additional check to Psychic-types, like Snorlax or Melmetal, is recommended to reduce the burden on Mega Gyarados to check them, especially in the event it is used for something else.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Facade can be run as the fourth move, turning Mega Gyarados into a scary threat to face if crippled with status. However, Mega Gyarados is generally better off avoiding status, and Facade is its only usable move when it's burned. Taunt can be used to stop Pokemon like Mew from inducing status conditions, although Substitute and Thunder Wave generally provide more utility. A Jolly nature can be used for maximum Speed, allowing it to outspeed opposing Adamant Gyarados while also outspeeding and hitting Eevee-S hard before it can inflict a status condition on Mega Gyarados. Rest can also be run to give Mega Gyarados some form of recovery, but this requires Eevee-S support in order to be fully effective.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Zapdos**: Zapdos's Thunderbolt threatens Mega Gyarados greatly and damages it hard. However, Zapdos takes significant damage from Crunch or Waterfall on the switch, especially after Stealth Rock damage.

**Poliwrath**: Poliwrath can switch into Mega Gyarados's STAB moves, doesn't take significant damage from Earthquake, and can hit it hard with Superpower if it has Mega Evolved. It can also poison Mega Gyarados with Toxic if it's not behind a Substitute.

**Status**: All major status conditions somewhat decrease Mega Gyarados's effectiveness during the match; burn decreases its Attack, poison wears it down fast, and paralysis makes it significantly slow. However, status can be turned into advantage if running Facade and can be healed off with Eevee-S support.

**Stealth Rock**: Gyarados's base forme is weak to Stealth Rock and thus loses a lot of HP from it until it Mega Evolves.

**Physical Walls**: Physical walls like Mega Venusaur and Melmetal are only 3HKOed by Crunch and Earthquake, while they can hit Mega Gyarados hard with Mega Drain and Thunder Punch. However, some of them are easily worn down, so it is possible for Mega Gyarados to finish them off at the right time.

[OVERVIEW]
  • Mega Gyarados possesses solid stats, coupled with a good dual typing.
  • Its Water/Dark typing allows it to switch-in on Psychic-type moves reliably, as well as Steel-, Ice-, and Water-type moves.
  • Its STABs are barely resisted and are coupled with really high Attack, OHKOing or 2HKOing large portion of the metagame with Stealth Rock support, allowing it to function as a wallbreaker and cleaner.
  • Its typing leaves it weak to common types, such as Electric, Grass, and Bug. Electric is also a common coverage among Pokemon.
  • Its Speed is somewhat mediocre and is thus outsped by many Pokemon that can hit it super effectively.
  • Lack of reliable recovery means that Mega Gyarados can be worn out during the match, especially with its base form being weak to Stealth Rock.
This section could relate to the meta a lot more. Include examples, and refer to more than just types. Bug and Electric-types are super uncommon in this meta outside of Mega Beedrill and Zapdos, so mention them. The information is overall good, but you could be more specific.

Fairly good, could be a bit more detailed, but overall good. Implement this check, include more detail throughout the analysis, then check back with me. I will then review and stamp you if it's good. I removed all the unnecessary line breaks, so use my check as a guide to see what lines you need to remove.

  • Its Water/Dark typing allows it to switch-in on Psychic-type moves from Mew, Mega Alakazam, and Starmie reliably, as well as Steel-, Ice-, and Water-type moves from Melmetal and Cloyster, respectively. A point mentioning the type change that occurs after Mega Evolving would be nice as it can screw over threats such as Mega Alakazam and Starmie when trying to click the appropriate move.
  • Its STABs are barely resisted and are coupled with really high Attack, OHKOing or 2HKOing large portion of the metagame with Stealth Rock support, for example Dragonite and Zapdos, allowing it to function as a wallbreaker and cleaner. Also mention EQ as coverage which compliments this by hitting threats such as Poliwrath hard.
  • Its typing leaves it with many weaknesses, including to Bug-types like Mega Beedrill and Electric-types like Zapdos. Its somewhat mediocre Speed also leaves it outsped by those threats. Also mention it also means threats its supposed to check such as Mega Zam and Starmie can hit it with coverage like Dazzling Gleam and Thundebolt respectively regardless.
  • Lack of reliable recovery means that Mega Gyarados can be worn out during the match, especially with its base form being weak to Stealth Rock.

**Poliwrath**: Poliwrath switches into Mega Gyarados's STAB moves, doesn't take significant damage from Earthquake, and can damage it hardly with Superpower if it has Mega Evolved. I would move this to the second slot, as Wrath can easily switch into Gyara most of the time unless it is heavily worn down.

**Mega Venusaur**: Mega Venusaur is only 3HKOed by Crunch and can damage it hardly with Mega Drain, while healing itself. However, its base form is 2HKOed by Crunch and Mega Gyarados also outspeeds it. I would expand this to physical walls in general and add Melmetal as it can still come in on Mega Gyara even with EQ if it is healthy and threaten it out with Thunder Punch.

Pokemon like Starmie and Mega Alakazam, which are normally checked by it, also run coverage like Thunderbolt and Dazzling Gleam, respectively, that hit it super effectively. Finally, it has no reliable recovery and thus can be worn out easily, including its base form's weakness to Stealth Rock.

I'd mention Mega Gengar with Starmie too, since that uses Thunderbolt and is a major threat Mega Gyarados would otherwise check well.

Waterfall is one of its STABs, which can also be used to fish for flinches as well, when outspeeding the opponent. Crunch is the 2nd STAB, which makes Mega Gyarados a reliable check to Psychic-type Pokemon, and can also cause useful Defense drops. Earthquake is a coverage move that allows Mega Gyarados to hit Alolan Muk, Melmetal, and Poliwrath harder than its other STAB moves. The last moveslot is flexible, as it can be either Substitute or Thunder Wave. Substitute allows Mega Gyarados to avoid status conditions from the likes of Eevee-Starter and Melmetal and also gives it a safe spot to hide from weak attacks. Mega Gyarados' ability to force switches also make it easier to set it up. Thunder Wave can be used to slow down the opponent and annoy them with Waterfall flinches + paralysis and also aids its teammates later in the game. Adamant nature allows Mega Gyarados to hit harder, as the Pokemon it 2HKOes, such as Dragonite, rarely run a +Speed nature as well.

Mega Gyarados should be used primarily to wallbreak and clean the opposing team, thanks to its high Attack. Additionally, it can be used as a lead against potential Stealth Rock setters bar Mew, which can outspeed and burn it. If it's the only Mega Gengar and Mega Alakazam check in the team, Mega Evolving as soon as possible is recommended. If predicting a switch, Mega Gyarados should use Substitute to have easier team wearing out the switch-in. It can also be used against Pokemon that cannot hit it hardly or to avoid status-inducing moves, such as Melmetal's Thunder Wave. Mega Gyarados should be switched in when predicting the opponent to use a resisted move, such as Water- and Ice-type moves from Cloyster and Steel-type moves from Melmetal, or a Psychic-type move from Mega Alakazam, Starmie, and Mew. However, it should avoid switching into common status-inducers such as Eevee-Starter. Finally, it is recommended to keep it healthy as much as possible, so it can switch-in multiple times and do its job properly.

Team Options
========

Zapdos is a good teammate to consider, as it can lure in Ground-types like Rhydon, Nidoqueen, and Alolan Dugtrio, leave the field with U-turn, and bring in Mega Gyarados, which can use this as opportunity to clean. It also deals well with annoying threats to Mega Gyarados such as Mega Venusaur and Poliwrath. Ground-types, such as Rhydon, Alolan Dugtrio, and Nidoqueen, can take on Electric-type moves that threaten Mega Gyarados and can also set up Stealth Rock, which helps Mega Gyarados to break the opposing team. A late-game sweeper, such as Nasty Plot Mew and Agility Dragonite, appreciate its ability to wear out the opposing team. An additional check to Psychic-types, like Snorlax and Melmetal, are recommended to reduce the burden of Mega Gyarados's responsibility of checking Psychic-types, especially in the event it is used for something else.

Other Options
=============

Facade can be run as the 4th move, turning Mega Gyarados into a scary threat to face if statused. However, Mega Gyarados is generally better off avoiding status and burns make Facade the only usable move. Taunt can be used to stop Pokemon like Mew from inducing status conditions, although Substitute and Thunder Wave generally provide more utility. Jolly nature can be used for maximum Speed, although a Gyarados itself is generally the only notable thing to outspeed. I'd mention that outspeeding Eevee-S consistently is nice since Waterfall does a ton to it, so you can destroy weakened ones instead of eating a status move. Also, might just be me, but I find Rest sorta useful if you're using it with Eevee-S, though not on the same level as something like Melmetal.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Zapdos**: Zapdos's Thunderbolt threatens Mega Gyarados greatly and damages it hardly. However, Zapdos takes significant damage from Crunch or Waterfall on the switch, especially after Stealth Rock damage.

**Poliwrath**: Poliwrath switches into Mega Gyarados's STAB moves, doesn't take significant damage from Earthquake, and can damage it hardly with Superpower if it has Mega Evolved. Might want to mention that it can Toxic Gyarados too if it lacks Substitute.

**Status**: All major status conditions somewhat decrease Mega Gyarados's effectiveness during the match; burn decreases its Attack, poisoning wears it out fastly, and paralysis makes it significally slow. However, status can be turned into advantage if running Facade and can be healed off with Eevee-Starter support.

**Stealth Rock**: Gyarados's base form is weak to Stealth Rock and thus contributes majorly for its weakening until it Mega Evolves.

**Physical walls**: Physical walls like Mega Venusaur and Melmetal are only 3HKOed by Crunch and Earthquake, respectively, while they can hit it hardly with Mega Drain and Thunder Punch, respectively. However, some of them are easily worn out so it is possible in the right moment for Mega Gyarados to finish them off.

Mega Gyarados is a top-tier Mega Evolution in the metagame due to its combination of solid stats and dual typing. Thanks to its Water typing, Mega Gyarados can switch in (RH) on Water-, Ice-, and Steel-type moves from the likes of Cloyster and Melmetal reliably, while its Dark typing makes it an excellent switch-in to Psychic-type moves from Mega Alakazam, Mew, and Starmie. It changing types while Its typing change upon Mega Evolving also allows it to potentially screw with opponents trick opposing Pokemon like Mega Alakazam that try to click the appropriate move. Its STABs are barely resisted, Very few Pokemon resist its STAB attacks, it has coverage in Earthquake to hit Pokemon like Poliwrath that resist them do, and, thanks to its high Attack that allows it to 2HKO notable threats like Dragonite and Zapdos with Stealth Rock support, it functions as a great cleaner and wallbreaker. However, its typing leaves it weak to Bug-type threats like Mega Beedrill and Electric-type threats like Zapdos, which also happen to outspeed it. Pokemon like Starmie and Mega Alakazam, which are normally checked by it it normally checks, also run super effective coverage like Thunderbolt in Mega Gengar and Starmie's case and Dazzling Gleam in Mega Alakazam's case that hit it super effectively. Finally, it has no reliable recovery and thus can be worn out down easily, taking into account its base form's weakness to Stealth Rock before Mega Evolving.

[SET COMMENTS]
Set Information
========
Waterfall is one of its STABs, which gets STAB and can also be used to fish for flinches as well (RC) when outspeeding the opponent opposing Pokemon. Crunch is the 2nd STAB, which makes Mega Gyarados a reliable check to Psychic-type Pokemon (RC) and can also cause useful Defense drops. Mega Gyarados's ability to force switches also make it easier to set it up. Thunder Wave can be used to slow down the opponent opposing Pokemon and annoy them with Waterfall flinches and paralysis and also aids its Mega Gyarados's teammates later in the game. An Adamant nature allows Mega Gyarados to hit harder, as the Pokemon it 2HKOes, such as Dragonite, rarely run a +Speed nature as well.

Usage Tips
========

Mega Gyarados should be used primarily to wallbreak and clean the opposing team, thanks to its high Attack. Additionally, it can be used as a lead against potential Stealth Rock setters bar Mew, which can outspeed and burn it. If it's the only Mega Gengar and Mega Alakazam check in on the team, Mega Evolving as soon as possible is recommended. If predicting a switch, Mega Gyarados should use Substitute to have an easier team time wearing out down the switch-in. It Substitute can also be used against Pokemon that cannot hit it hardly hard or to avoid against status-inducing moves, such as Melmetal's Thunder Wave. Mega Gyarados should be switched in when predicting the opponent to use a resisted move, such as a Water- and or Ice-type moves from Cloyster, (AC) and a Steel-type moves from Melmetal, or a Psychic-type move from Mega Alakazam, Starmie, and Mew. However, it should avoid switching into common status inducers (RH) such as Eevee-Starter. Finally, it is recommended to keep it healthy as much as possible, so it can switch in (RH) multiple times and do its job properly.

Team Options
========

Zapdos is a good teammate to consider, as it can lure in Ground-types like Rhydon, Nidoqueen, and Alolan Dugtrio (RC) leave the field with U-turn, and safely bring in Mega Gyarados with U-turn, which can use this as opportunity to clean. It also deals well with annoying threats to Mega Gyarados such as Mega Venusaur and Poliwrath. Ground-types, such as Rhydon, Alolan Dugtrio, and Nidoqueen, can take on switch into Electric-type moves that threaten Mega Gyarados and can also set up Stealth Rock, which helps Mega Gyarados to break the opposing team. A late-game sweeper, such as Nasty Plot Mew and or Agility Dragonite, appreciates its Mega Gyarados's ability to wear out down the opposing team. An additional check to Psychic-types, like Snorlax and or Melmetal, is recommended to reduce the burden of on Mega Gyarados's responsibility of checking Psychic-types to check them, especially in the event it is used for something else.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Facade can be run as the 4th move, turning Mega Gyarados into a scary threat to face if statused. However, Mega Gyarados is generally better off avoiding status, (AC) and burns make Facade the is its only usable move when it's burned. Taunt can be used to stop Pokemon like Mew from inducing status conditions, although Substitute and Thunder Wave generally provide more utility. A Jolly nature can be used for maximum Speed, allowing it to outspeed a opposing Gyarados itself that doesn't don't run Jolly (RC) while also outspeeding and hitting Eevee-Starter hardly Eevee-S hard before it can inflict a status condition on Mega Gyarados. Rest can also be run to give Mega Gyarados some form of recovery, but this requires Eevee-Starter support in order to be fully effective.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Zapdos**: Zapdos's Thunderbolt threatens Mega Gyarados greatly and damages it hardly hard. However, Zapdos takes significant damage from Crunch or Waterfall on the switch, especially after Stealth Rock damage.

**Poliwrath**: Poliwrath switches into Mega Gyarados's STAB moves, doesn't take significant damage from Earthquake, and can damage hit it hardly hard with Superpower if it has Mega Evolved. It can also poison Mega Gyarados with Toxic if it's not behind a Substitute.

**Status**: All major status conditions somewhat decrease Mega Gyarados's effectiveness during the match; burn decreases its Attack, poisoning wears it out fastly fast, and paralysis makes it significally slow. However, status can be turned into advantage if running Facade and can be healed off with Eevee-Starter support.

**Stealth Rock**: Gyarados's base forme is weak to Stealth Rock and thus contributes majorly for its weakening is weakened heavily by it until it Mega Evolves.

**Physical Walls**: Physical walls like Mega Venusaur and Melmetal are only 3HKOed by Crunch and Earthquake, respectively, while they can hit it Mega Gyarados hardly with Mega Drain and Thunder Punch, respectively. However, some of them are easily worn out down, so it is possible in the right moment for Mega Gyarados to finish them off.
