Psychic
========
Gardevoir's Fairy typing makes it one of the best offensive checks to Dark- and Dragon-types that Psychic teams have to offer. It can serve as either a great revenge killer with a Choice Scarf or as one of the strongest special wallbreakers after it Mega Evolves, which boosts its great Special Attack significantly. Thanks to Pixilate, Mega Gardevoir can outright OHKO most Dark-types including even walls like Mega Sableye and Mandibuzz. Conversely, regular Gardevoir's Trace lets it bring great utility to the team, as it is able to check weather sweepers, and it has a wide range of supportive options in Will-O-Wisp, Taunt, Trick, and Healing Wish. Offensively, access to Psyshock and Focus Blast helps Gardevoir avoid being walled by Poison- and Steel-types. Mega Gardevoir does face huge competition for the Mega slot from Mega Medicham, another incredibly powerful wallbreaker, and Mega Latias, which has much better bulk and versatility. However, Mega Gardevoir can break Dark teams better than Mega Medicham can due to its Fairy typing and is much more powerful than Mega Latias. Neither Gardevoir nor Mega Gardevoir is particularly fast, as Gardevoir requires the use of a Choice Scarf to have respectable Speed and can be easily revenge killed. To compound this, Gardevoir's horrible physical bulk makes it struggle against physical attackers, particularly against those with priority, such as Mega Scizor.

Moves
========
Hyper Voice is boosted by Pixilate and is Mega Gardevoir's strongest STAB move, capable of breaking walls, such as Clefable, and outright OHKOing most Dark-types, such as Hoopa-U. Psyshock hits Fire- and Poison-types that resist Hyper Voice, such as Mega Charizard Y and Mega Venusaur, while also breaking through special walls such as Gastrodon. Focus Blast rounds off Mega Gardevoir's coverage by giving it a way to hit Steel-types, such as Heatran. Will-O-Wisp is a great utility move for Mega Gardevoir, letting it cripple Bisharp and switch-ins such as Doublade and Mega Scizor. Substitute can be used instead to more reliably beat Bisharp with Sucker Punch mind games and prevent Mega Gardevoir from being crippled by status from walls such as Mew. Taunt can be used to make Mega Gardevoir a stallbreaker, as the likes of Chansey and Mew are hugely reliant on their ability to restore health, but is the least useful move against Bisharp.
Set Details
========
Maximum Special Attack and Speed investment is used to make Mega Gardevoir as effective of a wallbreaker as possible. A Timid nature is used to allow Mega Gardevoir to Speed tie with other base 100s and outspeed threats such as Kyurem-B and Hydreigon. Trace is the preferred pre-Mega Evolution ability, as Gardevoir can copy useful abilities such as Volt Absorb, Flash Fire, and Storm Drain from Pokemon like Lanturn, Heatran, and Gastrodon. Gardevoirite gives Mega Gardevoir much better Special Attack and Speed along with Pixilate, which crucially makes Hyper Voice a Fairy-type attack.
Usage Tips
========
Although Trace is often very useful, Gardevoir should look to Mega Evolve as soon as possible, as the huge boosts to its stats are almost always more important, such as in outspeeding Kyurem-B and Hydreigon, and Hyper Voice is useless without Pixilate. That being said, it may sometimes be worth it to preserve Trace against Swift Swim Kingdra and Sand Rush Excadrill, and Trace can also help Gardevoir threaten out Gyarados. Mega Gardevoir should be used early-game to break any opposing walls for its teammates after it has Mega Evolved. Because many walls such as Mew and Zapdos carry crippling status moves, Mega Gardevoir should be careful when directly switching into them. Attackers such as Latios are safe to switch into thanks to Mega Gardevoir's impressive special bulk, but be careful of letting Mega Gardevoir get worn down too quickly, as it is already very easily revenge killed by priority. In general, Mega Gardevoir can relatively safely fire off Hyper Voice once it's in play, although using Will-O-Wisp can cripple Mega Gardevoir's switch-ins, such as Jirachi, and walls that it has a harder time breaking, such as Zapdos. Because Mega Gardevoir forces many switches, it also has many opportunities to set up Substitute to become more difficult to revenge kill and avoid status. While Taunt is primarily useful for preventing walls from recovering, it can also allow Mega Gardevoir to prevent entry hazards from the likes of Torkoal and Armaldo and prevent Defog from Zapdos and Empoleon.
Team Options
========
Mega Gardevoir is a somewhat reliable check to Bisharp, so Psychic teams can use more optimal sets and Pokemon than they could otherwise. Choice Scarf Victini is an almost necessary teammate, as it can use STAB V-create to punch holes through special walls such as Mew and Jirachi, use U-turn to safely pivot Mega Gardevoir in on forced switches, and check Mega Scizor, other Steel-types, Volcarona, and Heracross that threaten Mega Gardevoir. Hoopa-U forms a powerful offensive core with Mega Gardevoir, as they can break any wall together. Hoopa-U's Dark typing makes it a great check to the many Ghost-types that threaten Mega Gardevoir out, and Choice Band Hoopa-U is especially useful for reliably breaking special walls such as Chansey. Meloetta is similar to Hoopa-U because it can check Ghost-types as well by virtue of its typing. Mew has a huge movepool and can support Mega Gardevoir in multiple ways, such as with Stealth Rock, Defog, and Will-O-Wisp. Mew can also use a stallbreaker set to break Chansey and other special walls. Like Mew, Jirachi can also set up Stealth Rock and provide status utility in the form of Thunder Wave and Toxic as its status options while also bringing U-turn and Healing Wish support. Latios's use of Defog helps keep Mega Gardevoir safe from opposing entry hazards, and Mega Gardevoir in return breaks down walls such as Porygon2 that trouble it. Slowbro is a great defensive pivot that can switch into the many physical attackers that threaten Mega Gardevoir, such as Terrakion and Mega Lopunny, and its use of Thunder Wave is helpful for slowing down threats such as Choice Scarf Kyurem-B and Keldeo, allowing Mega Gardevoir to beat them. Gothitelle is capable of trapping and removing all sorts of threats for Mega Gardevoir ranging from Heatran, Choice Scarf Hoopa-U, and even Chansey depending on its set.

Moves
========
Moonblast is Gardevoir's best STAB move and allows it to revenge kill many Dark-types such as Weavile. Psychic helps Gardevoir hit foes that resist Moonblast, such as Mega Venusaur. Psyshock can be used to have a decent chance at 2HKOing Zapdos after Stealth Rock damage and deal more damage to Pokemon like Mega Charizard Y. Healing Wish is a useful move to heal up a teammate late-game. Trick cripples walls that Gardevoir can't beat, such as Chansey and Mew. Focus Blast can be used over either of Gardevoir's utility options to hit Steel-types such as Heatran.
Set Details
========
Maximum Speed investment, a Timid nature, and a Choice Scarf make Gardevoir as fast as possible, notably letting it outspeed threats such as Keldeo and Mega Diancie. Maximum Special Attack investment is used to make Gardevoir as strong as possible. Trace is the preferred ability for copying useful abilites such as Gyarados's Intimidate, Landorus's Sheer Force, and Sharpedo's Speed Boost while also checking weather sweepers such as Swift Swim Kingdra and Sand Rush Excadrill
Usage Tips
========
Gardevoir should mainly be used for revenge killing after a teammate has been KOed and cannot take unresisted attacks well at all, as its bulk leaves much to be desired, though its immunity to Dragon-type attacks can be used to bring it in safely. Gardevoir's lack of wallbreaking power leaves it walled by many walls such as Chansey and Clefable, so avoid them unless running Trick. Furthermore, walls often carry status moves, and although Toxic poison and burns are troubling as is, Gardevoir should avoid paralysis at all costs to preserve its Speed. Because walls often try to switch into Gardevoir, Trick should be used to cripple these walls, although Gardevoir should be careful of giving free switches to Mega Evolutions and other Choice item users. Take advantage of Trace to give Gardevoir more options, as it can freely switch into defensive Heatran's Lava Plume and threaten to 2HKO it with Focus Blast. Gardevoir can also easily sweep weather teams by copying their abilities to use against them. Healing Wish can be used to give a teammate another chance once Gardevoir has been weakened and isn't needed to check anything late-game. Alternatively, after its checks like Chansey have been removed, Gardevoir can serve as a potential cleaner thanks to is great Speed as well.
Team Options
========
Because it can easily check Sableye, Gardevoir is a great teammate all of the Psychic-type Mega Evolutions. Because Mega Medicham is completely walled by Sableye, Gardevoir is commonly paired with it. In return, Mega Medicham breaks through many of the special walls, such as Jirachi, that Gardevoir can't touch without Trick. Mega Gallade's powerful Knock Off makes it a great check to many Psychic-types that wall Gardevoir, and it greatly enjoys having the Healing Wish support that Gardevoir provides. Mega Latias also appreciates Gardevoir's ability to check many Dark-types and enjoys having Healing Wish support to attempt to sweep with Calm Mind late-game. Slowbro is a fantastic defensive pivot for a retreating Gardevoir, as it can tank physical hits from the likes of Mega Medicham and Entei. To help Gardevoir switch in and out, Latios is a great teammate for its Defog support, and Starmie is another offensive option for entry hazard removal. Mew is one of the most versatile partners for Gardevoir, thanks to its vast movepool. Mew's stallbreaker set helps it break walls that stop Gardevoir such as Chansey. It can also run Defog or Stealth Rock to provide utility that the team may lack. Jirachi can also set up Stealth Rock to chip away at foes, which is very useful for helping Gardevoir get KOs such as against Dragonite and Mandibuzz, and use a slow U-turn to safely bring in Gardevoir. Victini's ability to force switches with ease makes it good for using U-turn for momentum. Victini is especially useful for its ability to check Mega Scizor, Moxie Heracross, and Volcarona, all of which easily use Gardevoir as setup fodder to sweep.

--------
Mega Gardevoir can run Calm Mind to utterly overwhelm walls with its power but the utility of its other options is generally more important. Encore is another utility option for Mega Gardevoir but it's generally outclassed by Taunt's greater utility. Encore is useful, though, as locking a wall into a utility move can make it incapable of stopping Mega Gardevoir. With its bulk and typing, Mega Gardevoir can use a Wish + Protect set to wall almost every Dark-type in the game but will generally end up being walled by the likes of Heatran and many other Fire-types. Alternatively, Mega Gardevoir can also serve as a great Trick Room user, with its special bulk and amazing power, but it is still quite fast even with minimum Speed. Choice Scarf Gardevoir can use coverage moves such as Energy Ball, Shadow Ball, and Thunderbolt, but these moves are generally worse than Focus Blast, as they are less useful against Steel-types. Memento can be used instead of Healing Wish to help Choice Scarf Gardevoir's teammates set up more easily, but Healing Wish's versatility makes it more useful in most cases.
Checks and Counters

Psychic
--------
**Revenge Killers**: Gardevoir and Mega Gardevoir are both very easily revenge killed by any physically attacking Pokemon faster than them, such as Terrakion. Powerful priority users such as Mega Medicham and Bisharp can also check them.
**Special Walls**: Even Mega Gardevoir has a very rough time offensively handling special walls such as Mew and Chansey. Thanks to their wide range of utility moves, though, both Gardevoir and Mega Gardevoir can run moves to cripple walls.
**Steel-types**: Most offensive Steel-types can generally take at least one Focus Blast and OHKO Mega Gardevoir with their STAB attacks, although the likes of Doublade and Mega Scizor must be careful of switching into Will-O-Wisp. Defensive Steel-types like specially defensive Jirachi and specially defensive Skarmory are even better at checking Mega Gardevoir, able to switch into any move safely.
**Paralysis**: Paralysis is crippling and will prevent Mega Gardevoir from reliably beating walls with recovery and Choice Scarf Gardevoir from being at all useful.
**Residual Damage**: Gardevoir and Mega Gardevoir are very susceptible to residual damage, as their lack of good physical bulk makes it difficult to take hits after even a little bit of chip damage. This makes Stealth Rock, Spikes, and debilitating status extra dangerous.
