[OVERVIEW]

Munchlax stands out as being the best Fire- and Ice-type check in the tier, capable of taking almost every special hit thrown its way, even super effective attacks like Magmortar's Focus Blast. Curse allows Munchlax to function as a mid- to late-game wincon, and multiple boosts can patch up its weakness to strong physical attacks. Even though it has rather low Defense, Munchlax is still able to take weaker physical hits if needed due to its high HP stat and Eviolite. A low Speed stat allows it to deal with most Trick Room teams once their main physical attackers are dealt with. Thick Fat allows it to wall most Fire- and Ice-types, like Magmortar and Abomasnow. However, Munchlax faces competition from both Type: Null and Miltank, with the former having more overall bulk than it and the latter having reliable recovery in Milk Drink and access to Stealth Rock. The standard Munchlax set is easily walled by Ghost-types, meaning it is either forced to switch or stall them out.

Moves
========

Body Slam is the preferred attacking move, as its chance to paralyze foes is generally more useful than the slight damage boost from Return. Return should be considered for teams running Toxic Spikes, as the paralysis chance becomes irrelevant. Curse is used to let it set up against special attackers like Magmortar and Pyroar, allowing it to potentially sweep late-game. Rest keeps Munchlax healthy throughout the match and allows it to remove status effects that would otherwise cripple it such as burn and Toxic poison. Sleep Talk stops Munchlax becoming setup bait for opposing Pokemon when it's asleep.

Set Details
========

Eviolite is by far the best item for improving Munchlax's bulk, as without it, Munchlax struggles to check the Pokemon it is used to beat. Maximum Defense and Special Defense investment allow Munchlax to get the most out of its bulk. While a spread with maximum HP investment could be used, it is less effective because the damage difference is almost negligible due to an already high HP stat, and it loses significant physical bulk. Thick Fat is Munchlax's best ability and allows it to check Fire- and Ice-type foes, such as Pyroar and Abomasnow. A Careful nature on Munchlax is preferred to maximize its Special Defense.

Usage Tips
========

Munchlax can be brought in against most special attackers but should be wary of mixed attackers carrying Knock Off such as Shiftry and Eelektross. Munchlax should be kept healthy throughout the match in order to be a reliable switch-in to these threats. Setting up with Curse will generally be a late-game goal, unless your opponent has no way to break Munchlax early on. It is vital that Munchlax does not have its Eviolite removed by Knock Off during the match, as it then fails to check many of the special attackers it is meant to, such as Magmortar and Pyroar. It's also vital that entry hazards are kept off the field as much as possible, as they hinder how well Munchlax can switch in. Munchlax has to be wary of Z-Moves like an All-Out Pummeling from Magmortar or a Devastating Drake from a boosted Turtonator, as their increased Base Power can break it. Although Munchlax cannot directly beat Ghost-types, it is capable of PP stalling some of them—most notably Life Orb Haunter and Gourgeist-XL. This is not advisable early-game, however, as it wastes Rest's PP.

Team Options
========

Munchlax should be used on bulkier, more passive teams like balance or stall, as it can be a momentum drain on offensive builds. Munchlax appreciates support from sturdy Fighting-resistant Pokemon, such as Mesprit and Weezing. These two Pokemon also provide entry hazards and the ability to cripple physical attackers that Munchlax would otherwise struggle with, respectively. Heal Bell users like Granbull are good for Munchlax because it won't have to stall out sleep turns, which can be detrimental mid-game; Granbull also acts as a good Knock Off absorber. Hazard stackers like Qwilfish are also good teammates for Munchlax, as the residual damage helps wear down switch-ins that would otherwise take advantage of Munchlax’s passiveness, and Qwilfish in particular appreciates Munchlax as a switch-in to special attackers. Pursuit users such as Skuntank are good teammates, as they help beat the Ghost-types that usually wall and set up on Munchlax, such as Substitute Haunter and Oricorio-G. Skuntank can also clear entry hazards with Defog, which Munchlax appreciates. Teammates like Regirock and Lanturn offer good synergy, as they both help deal with Oricorio-G—a common Munchlax switch in—while offering utility in either Stealth Rock or Heal Bell.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]

Other Options
=============

Fire Punch is an option over Body Slam to hit and beat Ferroseed and Ghost-types, but losing out on a STAB move means that Munchlax cannot beat Pokemon it usually checks such as Magmortar and Pyroar. Dropping Sleep Talk is another option, but without it Munchlax becomes extremely passive while it's asleep. Toxic is an option over Curse to deal residual damage to most Pokemon, but Curse is generally more consistent, as it allows Munchlax to function as a win condition for balance and stall teams. Whirlwind is also a very niche option that can have some benefits on hazard stacking teams, but it's often just a waste of a moveslot.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Strong Physical Attackers**: Most strong physical attackers like Zangoose, Choice Band Skuntank, and Stoutland find it quite easy to break Munchlax because of its naturally low Defense, but they can struggle to do so if Munchlax has already set up Curse.

**Fighting-types**: Fighting-types like Primeape and Hitmonchan find it easy to break Munchlax, even if it has boosted with Curse prior to switching. However, most of them do not like switching directly into a Body Slam, as they risk being paralyzed, except for Guts users like Gurdurr and Throh.

**Ghost-types**: Every Ghost-type walls Munchlax and can either set up on it or use utility moves like Stealth Rock, bar the Toxic set, as Munchlax is incapable of harming them. However, it is possible for Munchlax to PP stall certain Ghost-types, like Haunter without Trick, Palossand, and Gourgeist-XL, with Rest. Oricorio-G can switch into Munchlax and freely set up with Calm Mind and Substitute.

**Ferroseed**: Ferroseed is one of the few Pokemon that beats Munchlax one-on-one, even at +6 Attack, due to the combination of Leech Seed and Iron Barbs; however, Munchlax is able to beat it with Fire Punch.

**Knock Off Users**: Knock Off users such as Shiftry and Absol are able to cripple Munchlax for the match by removing its Eviolite, thereby preventing it from effectively walling special attackers.

**Taunt and Encore Users**: Weezing and Qwilfish, especially with Rocky Helmet, are able to beat Munchlax by preventing it from setting up with Taunt and can set their own entry hazards or cripple it. Togedemaru can't be paralyzed by Body Slam and can accomplish a similar result by locking Munchlax into one of its three status moves with Encore.

  • A low speed stat allows it to deal with most Trick Room teams once their main physical attackers are dealt with.
  • Thick Fat + Eviolite is a fantastic combination, allowing it to wall most Fire and Ice types.
  • Even though it has a rather low defensive stat, Munchlax is still able to take weaker physical hits if needed, especially if it has had the opportunity to set-up with Curse.
  • Munchlax faces competition from both Type-Null and Miltank, with the former having overall more bulk than it and the latter having reliable recovery in Milk Drink and access to Stealth Rocks; however they both struggle to effectively check special attackers as effectively as Munchlax does. Type Null does not struggle to check Special Attackers, and I dont think you can compare Munch to Miltank
  • Mention more drawbacks like being walled by Ghost-types etc

Moves
========
  • Body Slam is its preferred STAB Normal move, as even though Return is capable of doing more damage, the chance to Paralyse the opponents mon can greatly help Munchlax and the rest of its teammates. I would just say its teammates cuz munch is super slow esp after curse
  • Curse is used to help it boost versus either special attackers or weak physical attackers, allowing it to potentially sweep late-game. List Examples
  • Rest is what keeps Munchlax healthy throughout the match and able to consistently check special attackers.
  • Sleep Talk stops Munchlax becoming setup bait for opponents mons when it is asleep, even though it is a random chance of pulling the needed move.

Set Details
========
  • Eviolite is a given on pretty much every prevolved mon, giving it 1.5x to both defence and special defence, allowing it to effectively check special mons.
  • Max Defence and Special Defence allow Munchlax to get the most out of its bulk. While a max HP spread could be used, it is less effective because the damage difference is almost negligible.
  • Thick Fat is Munchlax's best ability and it is what allows it to check special attackers more effectively. Fire- and Ice-types you mean and also list examples imo
  • A Careful nature allows Munchlax to get the most out of its special bulk.

Usage Tips
========
  • Munchlax should be brought in versus pretty much every special attacker, unless it could have Knock Off like Shiftry or Eelektross, and should be kept healthy throughout the match.
  • Setting up with Curse should be your goal late game, unless your opponent has no way to break it early on.
  • It is vital that Munchlax is not Knocked Off during the match, as it then fails to check a lot of the special attacks the it once could with Eviolite, such as Magmortar and Turtonator.
  • It's also vital that hazards are kept to a minimum, as that hinders how well Munchlax can switch-in.

Team Options
========
  • Teammates such as Weezing and Mesprit support Munchlax well, as they're both solid Fighting resists and the former is able to also check Knock Off users like Shiftry.
  • Heal Bell users are good for Munchlax because it means Munchlax doesn't have to stall out sleep turns, which can be detrimental during mid-game.
  • Hazard stackers like Qwilfish are also good teammates for Munchlax, as the residual damage helps wear down switch-ins, and Qwilfish appreciates the switch-in to special attackers.

Other Options

  • Fire Punch is an option over Body Slam if you want to hit things like Ferroseed and Haunter, but losing out on your Normal STAB means that things like Charizard and Turtonator can easily boost versus you.
  • Toxic is an option over Curse to deal residual damage to most mons, but Curse is generally more consistent.
  • A max HP max Spd set can be used to slightly increase the special bulk of Munchlax, but the damage difference isn't that noticeable, and it becomes more susceptible to physical attackers.
  • Whirlwind is also a very niche option that can have some benefits on hazard stacking teams, but is often just a waste of a moveslot.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Strong Physical Attackers**: Most strong physical attackers like Ursaring, Skuntanj and Stoutland find it quite easy to break Munchlax, due to its lowered defence in comparison to its special defence; however they do start to struggle if it has received prior boosts.

**Physical Fighting-Types**: Physical Fighting-types specifically find it easy to break Munchlax, even if it has boosted with Curse prior to switching; however, most of them do not like switching directly into a Body Slam, bar Gurdurr

**Ghost-Types** Pretty much every Ghost-type walls Munchlax and can either recover or setup on it, bar the Toxic set.

**Ferroseed** Ferroseed is once of the few mons to beat Munchlax one-on-one even at max boosts, due to the combination of Leech Seed and Iron Barbs; however Fire Punch is able to beat Munchlax.

**Knock Off Users** Knock Off users such as Shiftry and Absol are able to cripple Munchlax for the match due to it losing Eviolite, and thus not being able to effectively wall against special attackers.

**Taunt Users** Weezing and Qwilfish, especially with Rocky Helmet, are able to beat Munchlax and easily setup hazards or cripple it.

**Mention Haze and Roar**

  • Setting up with Curse should be your goal late game, unless your opponent has no way to break it early on. just still w/late game goal, if ur opponent has no way to break lax it's game over anyway
  • It is vital that Munchlax is not Knocked Off during the match, as it then fails to check a lot of the special attacks the it once could with Eviolite, such as Magmortar and Turtonator.
  • It's also vital that hazards are kept to a minimum, as that hinders how well Munchlax can switch-in.
something about looking out for z-moves, random z-draco turt or AoP magmortar can give this some headaches. also the fact that u can pp stall certain ghosts, although not all of them

also this is the case where id say up front this mon fits on much bulkier, more passive teams cuz that's the best indicator of how ur gonna fit it imo

**Physical Fighting-Types**: Physical Fighting-types specifically find it easy to break Munchlax, even if it has boosted with Curse prior to switching; however, most of them do not like switching directly into a Body Slam, bar Gurdurr i don't see any good reason to specify physical, we barely have special and special wrath can still 3hko with 2 FBs+scald if it hits. also p much all can switch into body slam easily, it's more that they don't wanna risk the para unless ur gurdurr or throh

**Ghost-Types** Pretty much every Ghost-type walls Munchlax and can either recover or setup on it, bar the Toxic set. certain haunter sets (non-trick/taunt), palossand, silvally-ghost and scarf oricorio actually get PP stalled cuz of rest, but they can cause a headache early on and munch loses a lot of pp that it might need for sweeping later so yeah it's more of an endgame strat

**Ferroseed** Ferroseed is once of the few mons to beat Munchlax one-on-one even at max boosts, due to the combination of Leech Seed and Iron Barbs; however Fire Punch is able to beat Munchlax. i think u mean fire punch beats ferroseed?

**Knock Off Users** Knock Off users such as Shiftry and Absol are able to cripple Munchlax for the match due to it losing Eviolite, and thus not being able to effectively wall against special attackers.

**Taunt Users** Weezing and Qwilfish, especially with Rocky Helmet, are able to beat Munchlax and easily setup hazards or cripple it. i would expand this to taunt and encore users specifically because encore togedemaru is an amazing stop (no para risk is fun). there's also clefairy and audino but as long as u get togedemaru in here somewhere idrc

[OVERVIEW]

Munchlax stands out as being the best Fire- and Ice-type check in the tier, and is capable of taking almost every special hit thrown its way, even Super-Effective attacks.(give an example such as Magmortars Focus Blast) Curse allows Munchlax to function as a late-game (doesn't necessarily have to be late game) win condition, and multiple boosts can patch up its weakness to strong physical attacks. Even though it has a rather low defensive stat, Munchlax is still able to take weaker physical hits if needed due to it’s high HP stat.(and Eviolite) A low speed stat allows it to deal with most Trick Room teams once their main physical attackers are dealt with. Thick Fat + Eviolite (Eviolite mention seems better when talking about its defensive stat rather than with Thick Fat) allows it to wall most Fire- and Ice-types, like Magmortar and Abomasnow. Munchlax faces competition from both Type: Null and Miltank, with the former having overall more bulk than it and the latter having reliable recovery in Milk Drink and access to Stealth Rocks. Moves
========

Body Slam is the preferred attacking move as its chance to paralyse is generally more useful than the slight damage boost from Return. Return should be considered for builds running Toxic Spikes, as the paralysis chance becomes irrelevant. Curse is used to help it boost versus Special Attackers like Magmortar and Pyroar, allowing it to potentially sweep late-game. (mention how the boosted defence lets it take on physical attackers better too) Rest keeps Munchlax healthy throughout the match, and allows it to remove status effects that would otherwise cripple it such as Burn and Toxic. Sleep Talk stops Munchlax becoming setup bait for opposing Pokemon when it’s asleep.

Set Details
========

Eviolite is by far the best item for improving Munchlax's bulk, and without it, Munchlax struggles to check the Pokemon it is used to beat. Maximum Defense and Special Defense investment allow Munchlax to get the most out of its bulk. While a max HP spread could be used, it is less effective because the damage difference is almost negligible and it loses significant Physical bulk. Thick Fat is Munchlax's best ability and allows it to check Fire- and Ice-type foes, such as Abomasnow and Pyroar. A Careful nature on Munchlax is preferred to maximise its Special Defense.

Usage Tips
========

Munchlax can be brought in versus most Special Attackers but should be wary of mixed attackers carrying Knock Off such as Shiftry and Eelektross. Munchlax should be kept healthy throughout the match in order to be able to be a reliable switch-in. Setting up with Curse will generally be a late game goal, unless your opponent has no way to break it early on. It is vital that Munchlax does not have its Eviolite Knocked Off during the match, as it then fails to check many of the special attackers it is meant to, such as Magmortar and Turtonator.(wouldnt mention Turtonator here because it can win 1v1 anyway even with Eviolite if it shell smashes again as Body Slam does 50% at -2 and Devastating Drake can OHKO at +4) It's also vital that hazards are kept to a minimum, as that hinders how well Munchlax can switch-in. Munchlax has to be wary of random Z-moves like an All-Out Pummeling from Magmortar or a Devastating Draco from a boosted Turtonator (remove 'random' bc they're not that random, Devastating Drake is standard on Turtonator), as the increased base power can break it.Although Munchlax cannot directly beat Ghost-types, it is capable of PP stalling some of them - most notably Life Orb Haunter and Gourgeist-XL. This is not advisable in the early game as it wastes Rest's PP.

Team Options
========

Munchlax appreciates support from sturdy Fighting-type resists, such as Mesprit and Weezing. These pokemon provide hazards and the ability to cripple physical attackers that Munchlax would otherwise struggle with respectively. Heal Bell users like Granbull are good for Munchlax because it means Munchlax doesn't have to stall out sleep turns, which can be detrimental during mid-game; Granbull also acts as a good Knock Off absorber. Hazard stackers like Qwilfish are also good teammates for Munchlax, as the residual damage helps wear down switch-ins that would otherwise take advantage of Munchlax’s passiveness, and Qwilfish appreciates the switch-in to special attackers. Pursuit users such as Skuntank are good teammates as they help beat the Ghost-types (Which Ghost-types?) that usually wall and set up on Muchlax. Skuntank can also clear hazards with defog, which Munchlax appreciates. Munchlax should be used on bulkier, more passive teams like Balance or Stall as it can be a momentum drain on offensive builds.
(I'd probably give a mention to things like Regirock and Lanturn as they're good switch ins to Oricorio-Sensu which sets up on Munchlax easily)

Other Options
=============

Fire Punch is an option over Body Slam to hit and beat Ferroseed and Ghost-types, but losing out on Normal STAB means that Munchlax cannot beat Pokemon it usually checks, such as Turtonator (change Turtonator because its iffy) and Pyroar. Dropping Sleep Talk is another option, but without it Munchlax becomes extremely passive during its sleep turns. Toxic is an option over Curse to deal residual damage to most mons, but Curse is generally more consistent. Whirlwind is also a very niche option that can have some benefits on hazard stacking teams, but is often just a waste of a moveslot.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Strong Physical Attackers**: Most strong physical attackers like Ursaring, Skuntank,(change Skuntank as Munchlax can set up and beat it 1v1 without Taunt) and Stoutland find it quite easy to break Munchlax because of its naturally low Defense, however they can struggle if Munchlax has already set up.

**Fighting-Types**: Fighting-types like Primeape and Hitmonchan find it easy to break Munchlax, even if it has boosted with Curse prior to switching.(not necessarily true since both CC and Drain Punch do under 50% when Munchlax is at +2 and can win 1v1 with good Sleep talk rolls if it already had a Curse up prior to them switching in so reword it slightly) However, most of them do not like switching directly into a Body Slam as it risks the paralysis, except from Guts users like Gurdurr and Throh.

**Ghost-Types**: Every Ghost-type walls Munchlax and can either recover or setup on it, bar the Toxic set. As mentioned earlier, however, it is possible for Munchlax to PP stall certain Ghost-types like Haunter without Trick, Palossand, and Gourgeist-XL, with Rest.
(prob give Sensu another mention as its by far its most relevant enemy)

**Ferroseed**: Ferroseed is one of the few Pokemon that beats Munchlax one-on-one even at +6, due to the combination of Leech Seed and Iron Barbs; however Munchlax is able to beat it with Fire Punch.

**Knock Off Users**: Knock Off users such as Shiftry and Absol are able to cripple Munchlax for the match by removing its Eviolite, and thereby prevent it from effectively walling special attackers.

**Taunt And Encore Users**: Weezing and Qwilfish, especially with Rocky Helmet, are able to beat Munchlax by preventing it from setting up with Taunt, and can set their own hazards or cripple it. Togedemaru can accomplish a similar result by encoring Munchlax into one of its three status moves, and doesn't fear paralysis from Body Slam.

The more subjective changes were mostly made to make things flow better or help with clarity. Also, I caught a good number of typos in the Team Options sections !_!
[OVERVIEW]

Munchlax stands out as being the best Fire- and Ice-type check in the tier, and is capable of taking almost every special hit thrown its way, even Super-Effective super effective attacks like Magmortar's Focus Blast. Curse allows Munchlax to function as a mid- to late-game win condition wincon, and multiple boosts can patch up its weakness to strong physical attacks. Even though it has a rathear low defensive stat Defense, Munchlax is still able to take weaker physical hits if needed due to it’s its high HP stat and Eviolite. A low speed Speed stat allows it to deal with most Trick Room teams once their main physical attackers are dealt with. Thick Fat allows it to wall most Fire- and Ice-types, like Magmortar and Abomasnow. However, (AC) Munchlax faces competition from both Type: Null and Miltank, with the former having overall more overall bulk than it and the latter having reliable recovery in Milk Drink and access to Stealth Rocks Rock. The standard Munchlax set is easily walled by Ghost-types, meaning it is either forced to switch or stall them out.

Moves
========

Body Slam is the preferred attacking move, (AC) as its chance to paralyse paralyze foes is generally more useful than the slight damage boost from Return. Return should be considered for builds teams running Toxic Spikes, as the paralysis chance becomes irrelevant. Curse is used to help it boost versus let it set up against Special Attackers special attackers like Magmortar and Pyroar, allowing it to potentially sweep late-game. Rest keeps Munchlax healthy throughout the match, (RC) and allows it to remove status effects that would otherwise cripple it such as Burn burn and Toxic. Sleep Talk stops Munchlax becoming setup bait for opposing Pokemon when it’s asleep.

Set Details
========

Eviolite is by far the best item for improving Munchlax's bulk, and as without it, Munchlax struggles to check the Pokemon it is used to beat. Maximum Defense and Special Defense investment allow allows Munchlax to get the most out of its bulk. While a max HP spread with maximum HP investment could be used, it is less effective because the damage difference is almost negligible ("damage difference is almost negligible" what exactly do you mean here?) and it loses significant Physical physical bulk. Thick Fat is Munchlax's best ability and allows it to check Fire- and Ice-type foes, such as Abomasnow and Pyroar. A Careful nature on Munchlax is preferred to maximise maximize its Special Defense.

Usage Tips
========

Munchlax can be brought in versus against most Special Attackers special attackers but should be wary of mixed attackers carrying Knock Off such as Shiftry and Eelektross. Munchlax should be kept healthy throughout the match in order to be able to be a reliable switch-in to these threats (clarity). Setting up with Curse will generally be a late game late-game goal, unless your opponent has no way to break it Munchlax early on. It is vital that Munchlax does not have its Eviolite Knocked Off during the match, as it then fails to check many of the special attackers it is meant to, such as Magmortar and Pyroar. It's also vital that entry hazards are kept to a minimum off the field as much as possible, as that they hinders hinder how well Munchlax can switch-in switch in. Munchlax has to be wary of Z-moves Z-Moves like an All-Out Pummeling from Magmortar or a Devastating Draco from a boosted Turtonator, as the their increased base power Base Power can break it. Although Munchlax cannot directly beat Ghost-types, it is capable of PP stalling some of them - (remove hyphen)—most notably Life Orb Haunter and Gourgeist-XL. This is not advisable in the early game early-game, (AC) however, as it wastes Rest's PP.

Team Options
========

Munchlax should be used on bulkier, more passive teams like balance or stall, as it can be a momentum drain on offensive builds.(it makes much more sense to have it at the start of the paragraph imo) Munchlax appreciates support from sturdy Fighting-type resists Fighting-resistant Pokemon, such as Mesprit and Weezing. These pokemon two Pokemon also provide entry hazards and the ability to cripple physical attackers that Munchlax would otherwise struggle with, (AC) respectively. Heal Bell users like Granbull are good for Munchlax because it means Munchlax doesn't won't have to stall out sleep turns, which can be detrimental during the mid-game; Granbull also acts as a good Knock Off absorber. Hazard stackers like Qwilfish are also good teammates for Munchlax, as the residual damage helps wear down switch-ins that would otherwise take advantage of Munchlax’s passiveness, and Qwilfish in particular appreciates the Munchlax as a switch-in to special attackers. Pursuit users such as Skuntank are good teammates, (AC) as they help beat the Ghost-types that usually wall and set up on Muchlax Munchlax, such as Subsitute Substitute Haunter and Oricorio-G. Skuntank can also clear entry hazards with defog Defog, which Munchlax appreciates. Teammates like Regirock and Lanturn offer good synergy, (AC) as the both help deal with Oricorio-G - a common Munchlax switch in - while offering utility in either Stealth Rock or Heal Bell. Munchlax should be used on bulkier, more passive teams like Balance or Stall as it can be a momentum drain on offensive builds.
