PU Palossand

uploaded -zard

[OVERVIEW]

Palossand makes its mark on the PU tier as a great physical wall and Stealth Rock setter, sporting great physical bulk and an excellent defensive typing. Said typing gives Palossand useful immunities to Electric, Normal, and Fighting and also allows it to spinblock. This, combined with its bulk, allows Palossand to check notable physical attackers like Passimian, Archeops, Kangaskhan, and Aggron. Palossand sports reliable recovery in its signature move, Shore Up, allowing it to keep itself healthy throughout the battle and consistently get up Stealth Rock, supporting its team in the process. Its base 100 Special Attack and strong STAB moves in Earth Power and Shadow Ball mean that it isn't too passive, which is a great attribute for a wall. However, Palossand bears the burden of five weaknesses to pretty common types, making it vulnerable to Dark-types like Absol, Water-types like Swanna, Grass-types like Lilligant, Ice-types like Jynx, and Ghost-types like Haunter. Palossand also has lackluster special bulk, amplifying this problem against special attackers with super effective moves. Many strong special attackers like Pyroar and Eelektross also threaten Palossand, even without super effective STAB moves. Palossand also faces competition from Gourgeist-XL and Sableye as a spinblocking wall because it lacks access to Will-O-Wisp, though it uniquely boasts Stealth Rock.

Moves
========

Stealth Rock constantly wears the opposing team down to aid Palossand's teammates in sweeping. Alternatively, if you already have a hazard setter, Toxic can wear down Pokemon that don't take much damage from Palossand's STAB attacks thanks to their bulk like Lurantis, Gastrodon, Cradily, and Alolan Exeggutor. Shore Up helps Palossand stay healthy for the whole battle and lets it take advantage of Pokemon whose moves it resists like Primeape and Type: Null by healing against them. Shadow Ball is a STAB move and allows Palossand to hit Flying-types and Levitate users like Mesprit, Oricorio-G, and Weezing. Earth Power is Palossand's strongest STAB move and hits Lycanroc, Skuntank, and Aggron super effectively.

Set Details
========

252 HP and 252 Defense EVs maximize Palossand's physical bulk. Colbur Berry weakens Knock Off from Passimian and Absol, allowing Palossand to get a hit off, set up Stealth Rock, or heal, though the lack of Leftovers recovery forces to Palossand use Shore Up more often. Leftovers can be used instead to give Palossand passive recovery, allowing it to rely less on Shore Up to stay healthy enough to check Pokemon like Hitmonchan throughout the battle. This, however, makes Palossand much more vulnerable to Dark-types and Knock Off. Water Compaction is the best ability Palossand has, though it's not very useful against most Water-types because most are special attackers that get past Palossand's Defense boosts.

Usage Tips
========

Palossand's typing and rare access to both a reliable recovery move and Stealth Rock should be taken advantage of by switching into and taking strong physical attackers' STAB moves like Archeops's Stone Edge and Acrobatics, Aggron's Head Smash, and Primeape's Close Combat. This will allow you to get up Stealth Rock easily, as the opponent can't do much to stop you. When Toxic is run, Palossand can punish common switch-ins with Toxic, consistently wearing them down or possibly preventing checks like Lilligant from sweeping later on. Palossand should use Shore Up to stay healthy if weakened, making it reliable at getting up Stealth Rock multiple times. Palossand can also take on opposing Stealth Rock setters like Mesprit and Regirock and hazard removers like physical Skuntank and Hitmonchan. Palossand can keep hazards on only the opponent's side of the field by scaring away these setters and removers. While Palossand is immune to Volt Switch and Rapid Spin, be wary of super effective coverage that some users of Volt Switch or Rapid Spin may carry, like Lanturn's Scald, Life Orb Hitmonchan's Ice Punch, and Eelektross's Giga Drain.

Team Options
========

Palossand works best on balance teams, especially those that need a check to Rock-types like Lycanroc and Archeops or Fighting-types like Primeape. Sweepers like Lilligant and Jynx appreciate having Stealth Rock up to wear down foes and to have Focus Sash and Sturdy broken to make sweeping easier, making them good teammates. Rock-weak Pokemon like Magmortar and Oricorio-E and Pokemon weak to Fighting like Carracosta and Ferroseed appreciate having a teammate that can handle Rock-types and Fighting-types. Palossand struggles with Grass- and Ice-types like Lilligant and Jynx, so Fire-types like Pyroar and Magmortar make good partners, especially the latter, as it's immune to Lilligant's sleep-inducing moves. Water-types, especially specially offensive ones like Swanna, also threaten Palossand, so defensive checks to them like Lanturn and Gastrodon and offensive checks to them like Eelektross are nice to have. Additionally, Dark-types like Absol are annoying for Palossand to face, so Fighting-types like Hitmonchan and Primeape and Fairy-types like Granbull are great to have. Palossand hates being worn down by Toxic users, so clerics like Miltank, Lanturn, and Granbull help out a lot with Heal Bell. Miltank also has access to Sap Sipper and Thick Fat to check Grass- and Ice-types that Palossand is weak to and can act as a Stealth Rock user, which gives Palossand the ability to run Toxic. Palossand also hates being worn down by hazards, especially Toxic Spikes, so hazard removers like Swanna and grounded Poison-types like Skuntank are great teammates for it. Palossand can block Rapid Spin thanks to its Ghost typing, something that hazard setters looking to form a hazard-stacking core like Weezing appreciate.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Giga Drain hits Gastrodon super effectively, but Palossand can't find room for it. It also hits Poliwrath, Mudsdale, and Gorebyss super effectively in one moveslot, but it's only barely stronger than Earth Power in these cases and Toxic is more reliable at dealing with these Pokemon. Ghostium Z can be used to heavily damage Pokemon like Weezing with a 160-Base Power Never-Ending Nightmare and take less damage from Knock Off. However, this takes up your team's Z-Move, which a sweeper could use, and Palossand enjoys the passive recovery from Leftovers or the near-guarantee of taking any Dark-type move from Colbur Berry. Infestation can be used over a STAB move to trap a Pokemon that can't do much to Palossand, like Kangaskhan, or is weak to one of Palossand's STAB moves, like Lanturn, but Palossand can't find room for it. A more specially defensive EV spread of 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD can be used to more reliably check Electric-types like Manectric, though it can't check stronger physical attackers like Hitmonchan and Archeops as reliably and it still struggles against special attackers due to its weaknesses to Water, Grass, Ice, and Ghost and a low Special Defense stat.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Grass- and Ice-types**: Abomasnow, Alolan Exeggutor, Lilligant, and Regice can safely switch into Palossand's STAB moves and can either KO Palossand or set up on it. Jynx doesn't appreciate switching into Shadow Ball, but, once in, it threatens Palossand with STAB Ice Beam and can put it to sleep with Lovely Kiss to start setting up. Rotom-F is immune to Earth Power and can OHKO Palossand with Blizzard.

**Water-types**: Lanturn, Ludicolo, Gorebyss, Floatzel, and Poliwrath can all heavily damage or even KO Palossand with their STAB moves. Even with Water Compaction, Palossand is eventually broken through by Carracosta and Huntail, and they can break through especially easily if they use Shell Smash beforehand. Ludicolo in particular resists Earth Power, often won't be 3HKOed by Shadow Ball, and sets up with Rain Dance versus Palossand.

**Dark-types**: Absol, Alolan Raticate, and Shiftry can use Knock Off to remove Palossand's Leftovers and do massive amounts of damage. Shiftry can also use Grass-type moves to heavily damage Palossand, and it resists both of Palossand's STAB moves. Spiritomb takes little damage from either of Palossand's STAB moves and can set up with Calm Mind or threaten it with Dark Pulse. However, weakened Dark-types have to be wary of the Colbur Berry set, as Palossand can take a hit and KO them back.

**Strong Special Attackers**: Due to Palossand's lacking special bulk, generally strong special attackers like Drampa, Magmortar, and Eelektross can break through it with their STAB or coverage moves.

Hey just a few things:
  • I'd mention one of the main reasons why gourg competes with it is due to its lack of access to wisp. However I'd also state that due to its typing, it has a better match up vs Archeops and Aggron in comparison to the others.
  • Mention lanturn as a cleric.
  • I'd make specific mention that lilli is an offensive water check when referring to checking water types, as it can't switch into offensive swanna or float, and cannot even outspeed unless it's scarfed or at +1.
  • I'd mention that even though it's a spin blocker, it almost always loses to Komala.
  • In other options, mention that a mixed earthquake and shadow ball set can be used to hit av lanturn and av magmortar harder.
  • When you explain that Leftovers can be used over Colbur, also explain that it struggles vs gurdurr and absol more but is able to better deal with hitmonchan.
  • Since it's a wall, it appreciates hazard removal, especially tspikes removal from things like Skuntank.
  • Remove the bit explaining that shadow ball hits togetic, because it had access to reliable recovery. Mention to toxic might be a good idea however.
  • When mentioning giga drain, explain that it allows palo to hit all those mons with one slot.
  • I'd mention that even though it can switch into volt switch, it needs to be wary of electric types with super effective coverage; especially concerning lanturn and eel which have scald and giga drain, respectively.

ok finally used this mon and I'm ready to check now
[OVERVIEW]

  • Palossand has great physical bulk, allowing it to check notable physical attackers like Aggron, Archeops, Kangaskhan, and Hitmonchan.
  • It's Ground/Ghost-typing gives Palossand useful imminuties to Electric, Normal, and Fighting and also allows Palossand to spinblock. It's typing also gives it a useful resistance to Stealth Rock.
  • Has a reliable recovery move in Shore Up to keep itself healthy during a battle.
  • 100 Special Attack and a strong STAB move in Earth Power means that Palossand isn't too passive.
  • However, Palossand bears the burden of 5 weaknesses to pretty common types, especially Dark and Water.
  • Palossand's Special bulk is lacking, which is especially troublesome when a lot of the Pokemon that have super effective STAB moves VS Palossand are special attackers.
  • Faces competition from Gastrodon as a defensive Ground-type. might as well mention torterra here too, altho this is where id get across that palossand handles archeops better than all of its competitors which is its main niche rn imo
  • Also faces competition from Gourgeist-Super as a spinblocking wall, especially as Gourgeist has access to Will-O-Wisp while Palossand does not. However, Palossand, thanks to it's typing, can handle Archeops and Aggron more easily than Gourgeist.

Moves
========

  • Earth Power is it's main STAB move and hits Lanturn, Skuntank, and Aggron super effectively.
  • Shore Up helps Palossand stay healthy for the whole battle.
  • Shadow Ball is also a STAB move and allows Palossand to hit Flying-types and Levitating Pokemon. It also hits Gourgeist super effectively.
  • Toxic allows Palossand to put opposing Pokemon on a timer and constantly wear them down. this is super generic, what might actually be useful is to say something about how it's ur only option vs defensive pokemon not hit SE by ur stabs (miltank, lurantis, w/e) cuz otherwise u do diddly squat to anything with solid bulk

Set Details
========
  • Maximum HP and Defense EVs maximize Palossand's physical bulk.
  • Colbur Berry weakens Knock Off from Absol, Gurdurr, and Zangoose, allowing Palossand to take the hit much better and get a move off.
  • Leftovers can be used instead for passive recovery, meaning that Palossand will have to rely less on Shore Up. This does make it more prone to Knock Off, causing Palossand to struggle with Gurdurr and Absol, but, in turn, has an easier time against Hitmonchan. u can swap the emphasis slightly given that id prefer lefties in the current meta and this is slightly harsh (u already struggle with both of those)
  • Water Compaction is the ability of choice and can let Palossand take on certain Water-types better, like Qwilfish, by gaining constant defense boosts.

Usage Tips
========
  • Palossand works best on balance teams. specifically ones that want a really good arch/fighting check. few mons check arch and even fewer combine those roles well. that being said, this belongs in team options
  • Palossand should be used to switch into and take resisted or ineffective hits from strong physical attackers like Archeops' and Aggron's Head Smash and Primeape's Close Combat.
  • Use Toxic to wear down opposing walls, like Gastrodon, and catch offensive? checks on the switch like Lilligant and Ludicolo. This may ruin their plans of sweeping in the long run.
  • Be careful switching into Pokemon that run Knock Off like Zangoose, especially if you are running Leftovers instead of Colbur Berry.
  • If you're running Colbur Berry over Leftovers, be sure to use Shore Up to keep Palossand's HP up often so it can continue to check physical attackers throughout the battle.
  • Palossand can switch into Volt Switch to stop the opponent's momentum and Rapid Spin to stop whatever hazards were set up from being spun away. Be careful against Volt Switch users with super effective coverage, like Eelektross' Giga Drain and Lanturn's Scald, however.
  • Be wary of Komala, as though you may block it from using Rapid Spin, Komala still beats Palossand 1v1 most of the time.

Team Options
========

  • Palossand struggles with Grass and Ice-types like Lilligant and Jynx, so Fire-types like Pyroar and Magmortar make good partners, especially the latter as it's immune to Lilligant's and Jynx's sleep-inducing moves.
  • Water-types, especially Special based ones like Swanna and Floatzel, threaten Palossand, so Water checks like Lanturn and Jynx are nice to have. Lilligant is also a viable Water check, though it can't switch in as easily.
  • Dark-types like Absol are also annoying for Palossand to face, so Fighting-types like Himonchan or Primeape and Fairy-types like Granbull are great to have to take them out.
  • Palossand hates being worn down by opposing Toxic users, so clerics like Audino, Lanturn, and Granbull help out a lot.
  • Palossand also hates being worn down by hazards, especially Toxic Spikes, so hazard removers and grounded Poison-types like Skuntank are great teammates for it.
  • Palossand can block Rapid Spin thanks to it's Ghost typing, something that hazard setters such as Miltank and Ferroseed greatly appreciate.
mons revenged/pressured hard by archeops (like those fire types u mentioned in the first bullet). I'm not gonna stop stressing that, it really is this mon's biggest niche atm. if archeops gets banned i want to know that this needs a massive update not just a couple of tiny changes

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============
  • Giga Drain hits Gastrodon, Poliwrath, and Lanturn in one slot, but Palossand can't find room for it. and also u don't particularly need to hit them with a move only slightly stronger than earth power vs most and u wanna toxic these mons anyway? if u wanna mention giga drain, specify that it's only for gastrodon rly
  • Stone Edge and Ancient Power can both heavily damage Charizard, but otherwise STAB Earth Power is much better. if i were to run these, i would drop shadow ball not earth power
  • Earthquake can be used to hit Lanturn and Assault Vest Magmortar harder than Earth Power, though Earth Power will do more to most other Pokemon. nah don't even mention this one, massive power drop
  • Ghostium Z can be used heavily damage Pokemon like Weezing while taking less damage from Knock Off.
  • Infestation can be used over one of it's STAB moves to trap a Pokemon that can't do much to Palossand, like Primeape, or is weak to one of Palossand's STABs, like Lanturn. However Palossand might struggle to find room for it, as forgoing Earth Power will leave it walled by Lanturn and Absol, while forgoing Shadow Ball leaves it walled by Charizard and other Flying-types with Roost. and also the mons that does super hard to palossand like primeape don't tend to stay in. also, all u need to say is "cant find room" without mentioning the mons that palo loses to without a stab move, it's fairly irrelevant info
  • A more specially defensive EV spread can be used to more reliably check Electric-types like Manectric and Raichu-Alola, though it can't check stronger physical attackers like Hitomchan as reliably.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Grass and Ice-types**: Abomasnow, Lilligant, Ludicolo, Lurantis, Regice, and Shiftry can safely switch into Palossand's STAB moves and can either KO Palossand or set up all over it. Jynx doesn't appreciate switching into Shadow Ball, but, once in, Jynx threatens Palossand with STAB Ice Beam or can put it to sleep with Lovely Kiss and start setting up. Rotom-Frost is immune to Earth Power and can OHKO Palossand with Blizzard.

**Special Water-types**: Lanturn, Ludicolo, and Floatzel can all heavily damage Palossand with their STAB moves and Water Compaction won't help Paloassand take another hit. idk what u mean by "another" hit exactly. also id just mention water types in general, physical ones pressure/win over palossand too and there's plenty of time to mention them

**Guzzlord**: Guzzlord shrugs off any hit Palossand throws at it and 2HKOes Palossand, Colbur Berry or otherwise, with Specs Dark Pulse. RestTalk Guzzlord can use Rest to get rid of Toxic and proceed to beat Palossand down with Dark Pulse.

**Strong Special Attackers**: Due to Palossand's lacking special bulk, generally strong special attackers like Charizard, Drampa, Oricorio-Sensu, Haunter, and Magmortar can break through it, though the latter 3 have to be wary of Palossand's STAB moves.

  • Shadow Ball is also a STAB move and allows Palossand to hit Flying-types and Levitating Pokemon. Maybe mention examples of the Flying-types and Levitating Pokemon. Example Weezing, Mesprit, Swanna etc It also hits Gourgeist super effectively.
  • Toxic allows Palossand to actually damage and wear down Pokemon who wouldn't otherwise take much damage from Earth Power or Shadow Ball thanks to their bulk like Lurantis, Miltank, or Exeggutor-Alola. I would also mention Gastrodon and remove Miltank because Miltank carries Heal Bell as well as its own Toxic

Set Details
========
  • Maximum HP and Defense EVs maximize Palossand's physical bulk.
  • Leftovers give Palossand passive recovery, allowing it to rely less on Shore Up to stay healthy to check Pokemon like Hitmonchan throughout the battle.
  • Colbur Berry can be used instead to weaken Knock Off from Gurdurr or Absol and get a strong hit off, though the lack of passive recovery forces to Palossand use Shore Up more often to stay healthy.
  • Water Compaction is the ability of choice and can let Palossand take on certain Water-types better, like Qwilfish, by gaining constant defense boosts.

Usage Tips
========
  • Palossand should be used to switch into and take resisted or ineffective hits from strong physical attackers like Archeops' and Aggron's Head Smash and Primeape's Close Combat.

And Hitmonchan's Lo Ice Punch (252+ Atk Life Orb Iron Fist Hitmonchan Ice Punch vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Palossand: 164-195 (43.8 - 52.1%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Leftovers recovery)
  • Be wary of Komala, as though you may block it from using Rapid Spin, Komala still beats Palossand 1v1 most of the time with Wood Hammer or Darkinium Z

Team Options
========

  • Palossand works best on balance teams, especially those that need a check to Archeops or Fighting-types. Mention primeape imo for Fighting-type checks Fire-types like Magmortar and Pokemon weak to Fighting like Carracosta and Ferroseed appreciate having a teammate that can handle both in one Pokemon.
  • Palossand struggles with Grass- and Ice-types like Lilligant and Jynx, so Fire-types like Pyroar and Magmortar make good partners, especially the latter as it's immune to Lilligant's and Jynx's sleep-inducing moves.

Lilligant is also a viable Water check, though it can't switch in as easily. I think you should remove Jynx and mention another bulky water check. float can be physical and its not coming in on huricane from swanna if they predict
  • Dark-types like Absol are also annoying for Palossand to face, so Fighting-types like Himonchan or Primeape and Fairy-types like Granbull are great to have to take them out. to check it
  • Palossand hates being worn down by opposing Toxic users, so clerics like Audino, Lanturn, and Granbull help out a lot. I would mention Miltank > Audino because you see that more on balance builds
  • Palossand also hates being worn down by hazards, especially Toxic Spikes, so hazard removers and grounded Poison-types like Skuntank are great teammates for it. I would also mention Swanna for hazard removal
  • Palossand can block Rapid Spin thanks to it's Ghost typing, something that hazard setters such as Miltank and Ferroseed greatly appreciate. Maybe add in Qwilfish here?

Moves
========

  • Earth Power is it's main STAB move and hits Lanturn, Skuntank, and Aggron super effectively.
  • Shore Up helps Palossand stay healthy for the whole battle. (allows it to recover on things it resists)
  • Shadow Ball is also a STAB move and allows Palossand to hit Flying-types and Levitating Pokemon like Weezing, Mesprit, and Oriocorio-Sensu (swap the order to fit the prior list). It also hits Gourgeist-Super effectively. (not really sure about the last bit to be honest, I aint switching gourg in on palo anyways)
  • Toxic allows Palossand to actually damage and wear down Pokemon who wouldn't otherwise take much damage from Earth Power or Shadow Ball thanks to their bulk like Lurantis, Gastrodon, Cradily, or Exeggutor-Alola.

Set Details
========
  • Maximum HP and Defense EVs maximize Palossand's physical bulk.
  • Leftovers give Palossand passive recovery, allowing it to rely less on Shore Up to stay healthy to check Pokemon like Hitmonchan throughout the battle. (makes it a lot weaker to dark-types though)
  • Colbur Berry can be used instead to weaken Knock Off from Gurdurr or Absol and get a strong hit off, though the lack of passive recovery forces to Palossand use Shore Up more often to stay healthy. (switch this with the point above)
  • Water Compaction is the ability of choice and can let Palossand take on certain Water-types better, like Qwilfish, by gaining constant defense boosts.

Usage Tips
========
  • Palossand should be used to switch into and take resisted or ineffective hits from strong physical attackers like Archeops' and Aggron's Head Smash and Primeape's Close Combat. (say archeops' acrobatics, only the lead set actually uses head smash)
  • Use Toxic to wear down opposing walls, like Gastrodon, and catch offensive checks on switch in like Lilligant and Ludicolo.
(legit what you said in usage tips)
  • Palossand can switch into Volt Switch to stop the opponent's momentum and Rapid Spin to stop whatever hazards were set up from being spun away. Be careful against Volt Switch users with super effective coverage, like Eelektross' Giga Drain, Lanturn's Scald, and Life Orb Hitmonchan's Ice Punch, however. (maybe mention things it actually beats, like alolan-raichu and such)
  • Be wary of Komala, as though you may block it from using Rapid Spin, Komala still beats Palossand 1v1 most of the time with either Black-Hole Eclipse or Wood Hammer. (you cant status komala is the main thing)

Team Options
========

  • Palossand works best on balance teams, especially those that need a check to Archeops or Fighting-types like Primeape. Fire-types like Magmortar and Pokemon weak to Fighting like Carracosta and Ferroseed appreciate having a teammate that can handle both in one Pokemon. (you don't really explain why it helps fire types here, like I guess you're trying to make the archeops connection, but it's just weak)
  • Palossand struggles with Grass- and Ice-types like Lilligant and Jynx, so Fire-types like Pyroar and Magmortar make good partners, especially the latter as it's immune to Lilligant's and Jynx's sleep-inducing moves.
  • Water-types, especially Special based ones like Swanna and Floatzel, threaten Palossand, so Water checks like Lanturn and Gastrodon are nice to have. Lilligant is also a viable Water check, though it can't switch in as easily. (lilligant is an offensive water check)
  • Dark-types like Absol are also annoying for Palossand to face, so Fighting-types like Himonchan or Primeape and Fairy-types like Granbull are great to have to check them.
  • Palossand hates being worn down by opposing Toxic users, so clerics like Miltank, Lanturn, and Granbull help out a lot. (miltank also has thick fat and sap sipper)
  • Palossand also hates being worn down by hazards, especially Toxic Spikes, so hazard removers like Swanna and grounded Poison-types like Skuntank are great teammates for it.
  • Palossand can block Rapid Spin thanks to it's Ghost typing, something that hazard setters such as Miltank, Qwilfish, and Ferroseed greatly appreciate.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============
  • Giga Drain hits Gastrodon super effectively, but Palossand can't find room for it. Giga Drain also hits Poliwrath, Piloswine, and Gorebyss super effectively in one slot, but it's only barely stronger than Earth Power in these cases.
  • Ghostium Z can be used heavily damage Pokemon like Weezing while taking less damage from Knock Off.
  • Infestation can be used over one of it's STAB moves to trap a Pokemon that can't do much to Palossand, like Kangaskhan, or is weak to one of Palossand's STABs, like Lanturn, but Palossand can't find room for it.
  • A more specially defensive EV spread can be used to more reliably check Electric-types like Manectric and Raichu-Alola, though it can't check stronger physical attackers like Hitomchan and Archeops as reliably. (already basically counters alolan raichu)

Checks and Counters
===================

**Grass and Ice-types**: Abomasnow, Exeggutor-Alola, Lilligant, Lurantis, Regice, and Shiftry can safely switch into Palossand's STAB moves and can either KO Palossand or set up all over it.

**Water-types**: Lanturn, Ludicolo, Gorebyss, Floatzel, and Poliwrath can all heavily damage or even KO Palossand with their STAB moves. Even with Water Compaction, Palossand is eventually broken through by Carracosta or Huntail, especially if they Shell Smashed beforehand. Ludicolo in particular resists Earth Power, often won't be 3HKOed by Shadow Ball and sets up with Rain Dance in Palossand's face.

**Dark-types**: Absol and Shiftry can Knock Off Palossand's Leftovers while doing massive amounts of damage. Shiftry can use either of it's STABs to heavily damage Palossand and it resists both of Palossand's STABs. Raticate-Alola puts a huge dent into Palossand with Crunch.

**Strong Special Attackers**: Due to Palossand's lacking special bulk, generally strong special attackers like Drampa, Oricorio-Sensu, Haunter, and Magmortar can break through it, though the latter 3 have to be wary of Palossand's STAB moves.
Looks good! QC 2/3

Yoshiblaze unfortunately, if you've been following USUM leaks, you might've seen that Palossand is about to change pretty significantly. As such, we don't think it'd be worth continuing this analysis right now if it'd be outdated almost immediately after uploading to Smogon. If you'd like to continue this analysis, you're gonna have to start it again from 1/3 after USUM is out and we've had some time to see and play with the changes (about a week or so). It can still be written up and everything, but assuming Stealth Rock does get added and change a bunch of stuff we'd want to get in 2 more qc checks.

Hey bud, we've finally decided on how we want the new set to look:

name: Physically Defensive
move 1: Stealth Rock / Toxic
move 2: Shore Up
move 3: Shadow Ball
move 4: Earth Power
item: Colbur Berry / Leftovers
ability: Water Compaction
nature: Bold
evs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD

Could you add Stealth Rock mentions to all sections and modify the layout of your Moves section to accommodate for this. The analysis itself will move back to QC 1/3 but can stay written up. Once you have implemented these changes I will redo my last QC check.

Tier shifts are happening soon so you may prefer to wait.

Thanks!

[OVERVIEW]

Palossand makes its mark on the PU tier as a great physical wall and hazards setter (specify stealth rock setter), sporting great 85/110 physical bulk. Palossand's Ground/Ghost-typing gives it useful immunities to Electric, Normal, and Fighting and also allows Palossand to spinblock. This combined with it's bulk and access to Stealth Rock (this seems slightly repetitive. i'd talk about stealth rock either in conjunction with shore up later or expand a bit earlier) allow Palossand to check notable physical attackers like Aggron, Archeops, Kangaskhan, and Hitmonchan while also setting up Stealth Rocks to support the rest of its team. Palossand sports reliable recovery in it's signature move, Shore Up, allowing it to keep itself healthy throughout the battle, especially since it's typing gives it a Stealth Rock resistance, making it harder to wear down. Its 100 Special Attack and strong STAB moves in Earth Power and Shadow Ball means that Palossand isn't too passive, a great attribute for a wall. However, Palossand bears the burden of 5 weaknesses to pretty common types, including Dark-types like Absol, Water-types like Swanna, Grass-types like Lilligant, Ice-types like Regice, and Ghost-types like Haunter. Another drawback is that Palossand's Special bulk is lacking, which is especially troublesome when a lot of the Pokemon that have super effective STAB moves versus Palossand are special attackers (this can be combined with the last point, as they highlight the same issues really). Many strong Special Attackers also threaten Palossand, even without super effective STAB, like Pyroar and Drampa (drampa threatens literally everything, so I don't like it being used as an example). Palossand also faces competition from Gastrodon and Torterra (I don't really think it faces any competition. it's straight better than torterra and gastrodon does a totally different job in comparison) as a defensive Ground-type and Gourgeist-Super and Sableye as a spinblocking wall, very much because Palossand lacks lacks access to Will-O-Wisp. However, Palossand has a good niche over it's competition in it's ability to take on Archeops much easier thanks to it's typing and bulk (technically gastrodon also takes on archeops so this point seems a bit invalid, especially when it's repeating an earlier one. if you want to expand it do it earlier when you first mention it).

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========
Stealth Rock sets up rocks (hazards) on the opponent's side of the field, wering (wearing) the opposing team down constantly to aid Palossand's teammates in sweeping. Alternatively, Toxic can damage and wear down Pokemon who wouldn't otherwise take much damage from Palossand's STAB attacks thanks to their bulk like Lurantis, Gastrodon, Cradily, or Exeggutor-Alola (specify the use of toxic if you already have another setter). Shore Up helps Palossand stay healthy for the whole battle, and take advantage of Pokemon who's moves it resists by healing in their face (like?). Shadow Ball is a STAB move and allows Palossand to hit Flying-types and Levitating Pokemon like Mesprit, Oriocorio-Sensu, and Weezing. Earth Power is Palossand's strongest STAB move and hits Lanturn, Skuntank, and Aggron super effectively (i'd remove lant, it beats you 1v1 most of the time).

Set Details
========
252 HP and 252 Defense EVs maximize Palossand's physical bulk. Colbur Berry weakens Knock Off from Gurdurr or Absol and allows Palossand to get a hit off, though the lack of passive recovery forces to Palossand use Shore Up more often to stay healthy. Leftovers can be used instead to give Palossand passive recovery, allowing it to rely less on Shore Up to stay healthy to check Pokemon like Hitmonchan throughout the battle. This, however, makes Palossand much more vulnerable to Dark-types and Knock Off. Water Compaction is the ability of choice and can let Palossand take on certain Water-types better, like Qwilfish, by gaining constant defense boosts (eh, not really. it's just the best ability it has access to but most water-types are special and just beat it regardless).

Usage Tips
========
Palossand should be used to switch into and take weak, resisted, or ineffective hits from strong physical attackers like Archeops' Stone Edge or Acrobatics, Aggron's Head Smash, and Primeape's Close Combat (it can switch into strong attacks really, requiring they aren't super effective). If you're running Stealth Rock, you can find opportunities to set them up when Pokemon that Palossand can check are on the field, as they can't do much to stop you (can set in front of things like hitmonchan). If you are running Toxic, use it to wear down opposing walls, like Gastrodon, and catch offensive checks on switch in like Lilligant and Ludicolo. This may ruin their plans of sweeping in the long run. Be careful switching Palossand into Pokemon that run Knock Off like Gurdurr, especially if you are running Leftovers instead of Colbur Berry. Palossand can switch into Volt Switch from Pokemon like Zebstrika to stop the opponent's momentum and Rapid Spin from Pokemon like Sandslash to stop whatever hazards were set up from being spun away. Palossand can also set up Stealth Rocks on Rapid Spinners, as they can't spin them away. Be careful against Volt Switch and Rapid Spin users with super effective coverage, like Eelektross' Giga Drain, Lanturn's Scald, and Life Orb Hitmonchan's Ice Punch, however. Be especially wary of Komala, as though you may block it from using Rapid Spin, Komala still beats Palossand 1v1 most of the time with either Black-Hole Eclipse or Wood Hammer and Comatose preventing Toxic from working if run.

overall some of this section seems like it's just repeating what moves and set details does, so i'd be careful of this. you want to get across how reliable of a setter it is thanks to recovery, which is rare for a stealth rock setter. you also want to get across that it has a great match up versus a lot of the setter, especially mesprit, and can deal with physical skuntank rather easily. things like that

Team Options
========
Palossand works best on balance teams, especially those that need a check to Rock-types like Lycanroc and Archeops or Fighting-types like Primeape. Sweepers like Lilligant and Kingler appreciate having Stealth Rock up to wear down the opponent and have Focus Sashes or Sturdy broken to make sweeping easier, making them viable teammates. Rock-weak Pokemon like Magmortar and Oricorio (specify which form), and Pokemon weak to Fighting like Carracosta and Ferroseed appreciate having a teammate that can handle both in one Pokemon. Palossand struggles with Grass and Ice-types like Lilligant and Jynx, so Fire-types like Pyroar and Magmortar make good partners, especially the latter as it's immune to Lilligant's and Jynx's sleep-inducing moves (makes it sound like magmortar is a jynx check, which it isn't). Water-types, especially Special based ones like Swanna and Floatzel, also threaten Palossand, so defensive Water checks like Lanturn and Gastrodon and offensive Water checks like Lilligant (already mentioned earlier) are nice to have. Additionally, Dark-types like Absol are annoying for Palossand to face, so Fighting-types like Himonchan or Primeape and Fairy-types like Granbull are great to have to check them. Palossand hates being worn down by opposing Toxic users, so clerics like Miltank, Lanturn, and Granbull help out a lot. Miltank also has access to Sap Sipper and Thick Fat to check Grass and Ice-types that Palossand is weak to (if palossand is running toxic, miltank can act as the stealth rock setter for the team). Palossand also hates being worn down by hazards, especially Toxic Spikes, so hazard removers like Swanna and grounded Poison-types like Skuntank are great teammates for it. Palossand can block Rapid Spin thanks to it's Ghost typing, something that hazard setters looking to form a hazard stacking core like Ferroseed (ferroseed is already mentioned earlier) or Qwilfish appreciate.

you repeat a lot of partners here, so you could be more precise with how you word each part to avoid this

Giga Drain hits Gastrodon super effectively, but Palossand can't find room for it. Giga Drain also hits Poliwrath, Piloswine, and Gorebyss super effectively in one slot, but it's only barely stronger than Earth Power in these cases (toxic is also far more reliable). Ghostium Z can be used heavily damage Pokemon like Weezing with a 160 BP Never-Ending Nightmare while taking less damage from Knock Off. Infestation can be used over one of it's STAB moves to trap a Pokemon that can't do much to Palossand, like Kangaskhan, or is weak to one of Palossand's STABs, like Lanturn, but Palossand can't find room for it. A more specially defensive EV spread of 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD can be used to more reliably check Electric-types like Manectric, though it can't check stronger physical attackers like Hitomchan and Archeops as reliably (it also struggles far more against special attackers due to its type. this leaves it weak to water, grass, ice, and ghost moves).

Checks and Counters

**Grass and Ice-types**: Abomasnow, Exeggutor-Alola, Lilligant, Lurantis, Regice, and Shiftry can safely switch into Palossand's STAB moves and can either KO Palossand or set up all over it. Rotom-Frost is immune to Earth Power and can OHKO Palossand with Blizzard. (you mention a few of these pokemon below, so pick which section you want to keep them in and avoid mentioning multiple times)

**Defoggers with Super Effective moves***: Lurantis, Shiftry, Swanna, Rotom-Frost (remove, this is a bad defogger), and Sivally-Water can take Palossand's moves pretty well and proceed to threaten Palossand with their super effective moves or Defog away the hazards it just set up.

**Strong Special Attackers**: Due to Palossand's lacking special bulk, generally strong special attackers like Drampa, Oricorio-Sensu, Haunter, and Magmortar can break through it, though the latter 3 have to be wary of Palossand's STAB moves.

Earth Power is Palossand's strongest STAB move and hits Lycanroc, Skuntank, and Aggron super effectively.

Set Details
========
252 HP and 252 Defense EVs maximize Palossand's physical bulk. Colbur Berry weakens Knock Off from Gurdurr or Absol and allows Palossand to get a hit off (u can do more with the bought turn than just attack, but im not sure how to word that with the current structure tbh...but the fact that u can use the turn to also set rocks or just heal is important enough i think), though the lack of passive recovery forces to Palossand use Shore Up more often to stay healthy. Leftovers can be used instead to give Palossand passive recovery, allowing it to rely less on Shore Up to stay healthy to check Pokemon like Hitmonchan throughout the battle. This, however, makes Palossand much more vulnerable to Dark-types and Knock Off. Water Compaction is the best ability it has, though it's not very useful against most Water-types as most are Special Attackers that get past Palossand's Defense boosts.

Usage Tips
========
When Stealth Rock is run, Palossand's typing and unique access to both a reliable recovery move and Stealth Rock should be taken advantage of by switching into and take hits from strong physical attackers, provided that it's not super effective (the statement after this gives examples as to what u can switch in on, so this sentence is rather useless), like Archeops' Stone Edge or Acrobatics, Aggron's Head Smash, and Primeape's Close Combat. You can then find opportunities to set them up when Pokemon that Palossand can check are on the field, as they can't do much to stop you, especially Hitmonchan, as it can't spin away hazards in front of Palossand (isnt this sentence and the previous the same thing?). Palossand can use Shore Up to get healthy again, making it reliable at getting up Stealth Rocks multiple times if they are ever taken off the field. Palossand can also take on opposing Stealth Rock setters like Mesprit and Regirock and hazard removers like physical Skuntank and the aforementioned Hitmochan. In doing this, Palossand can keep hazards on only the opponent's side of the field by scaring away these setters and removers. While Palossand is immune to Volt Switch, stopping the opponent from gaining momentum, and Rapid Spin, be wary of super effective coverage that some users of Volt Switch or Rapid Spin may carry, like Eelektross' Giga Drain, Lanturn's Scald, Life Orb Hitmonchan's Ice Punch, and especially Komala's Black Hole Eclispe, Knock Off, or Wood Hammer. (especially you say? Komala is not enough of a threat to end this section on that note)

Team Options
========
Palossand works best on balance teams, especially those that need a check to Rock-types like Lycanroc and Archeops or Fighting-types like Primeape. Sweepers like Lilligant and Kingler (yes kingler works, but i prefer giving the best suggestions possible. maybe jynx or carracosta instead?)appreciate having Stealth Rock up to wear down the opponent and have Focus Sashes or Sturdy broken to make sweeping easier, making them viable teammates. Rock-weak Pokemon like Magmortar and Oricorio-Pom-Pom, and Pokemon weak to Fighting like Carracosta and Ferroseed appreciate having a teammate that can handle both in one Pokemon. Palossand struggles with Grass and Ice-types like Lilligant and Jynx, so Fire-types like Pyroar and Magmortar make good partners, especially the latter as it's immune to Lilligant's sleep-inducing moves. Miltank also has access to Sap Sipper and Thick Fat to check Grass and Ice-types that Palossand is weak to and can act as a Stealth Rocker, which gives Palossand the ability to run Toxic. Palossand also hates being worn down by hazards, especially Toxic Spikes, so hazard removers like Swanna and grounded Poison-types like Skuntank are great teammates for it. Giga Drain hits Gastrodon super effectively, but Palossand can't find room for it. Giga Drain also hits Poliwrath, Mudsdale, and Gorebyss super effectively in one slot, but it's only barely stronger than Earth Power in these cases and Toxic is more reliable in dealing with these Pokemon. Ghostium Z can be used heavily damage Pokemon like Weezing with a 160 BP Never-Ending Nightmare while taking less damage from Knock Off (that sounds neat, why isnt that recommended? i am new). Water Compaction is the best ability it has, though it's not very useful most against most Water-types,(AC) as most are Special Attackers special attackers that get past aren't affected by Palossand's Defense boosts.

Usage Tips
========
When Stealth Rock is run, Palossand's typing and unique access to both a reliable recovery move and Stealth Rock should be taken advantage of by switching into and taking hits attacks from strong physical attackers, like Archeops's Stone Edge or and Acrobatics, Aggron's Head Smash, and Primeape's Close Combat. Palossand can use Shore Up to stay healthy if weakened, making it reliable at getting up Stealth Rocks multiple times if they are the hazard is ever taken off the field. Palossand can also take on opposing Stealth Rock setters like Mesprit and Regirock and hazard removers like physical Skuntank and Hitmonchan. In doing this, Palossand can keep hazards on only the opponent's side of the field by scaring away these setters and removers. While Palossand is immune to Volt Switch and Rapid Spin, be wary of super effective coverage that some users of Volt Switch or Rapid Spin may carry, like Lanturn's Scald, Komala's Black Hole Eclipse or Wood Hammer, Life Orb Hitmonchan's Ice Punch, and Eelektross's Giga Drain.

Team Options
========
Palossand works best on balance teams, especially those that need a check to Rock-types like Lycanroc and Archeops or Fighting-types like Primeape. Sweepers like Lilligant and Jynx appreciate having Stealth Rock up to wear down foes the opponent and to have Focus Sashes or and Sturdy broken to make sweeping easier, making them viable good teammates (even pokemon that don't synergize with palossand are presumably viable teammates. don't change this if all 5 pokemon have to synergize with palossand for the team to be viable). Rock-weak Pokemon like Magmortar and Oricorio-Pom-Pom,(RC) Oricorio-E and Pokemon weak to Fighting like Carracosta and Ferroseed appreciate having a teammate that can handle both in one Pokemon Rock-types and Fighting-types respectively. Palossand struggles with Grass-(AH) and Ice-types like Lilligant and Jynx, so Fire-types like Pyroar and Magmortar make good partners, especially the latter,(AC) as it's immune to Lilligant's sleep-inducing moves. Water-types, especially Special based special ones like Swanna, also threaten Palossand, so defensive Water checks to them like Lanturn and Gastrodon and offensive Water checks to them like Eelektross are nice to have. Additionally, Dark-types like Absol are annoying for Palossand to face, so Fighting-types like Himonchan or and Primeape and Fairy-types like Granbull are great to have to check them. Palossand hates being worn down by opposing Toxic users, so clerics like Miltank, Lanturn, and Granbull help out a lot with Heal Bell. Miltank also has access to Sap Sipper and Thick Fat to check Grass-(AH) and Ice-types that Palossand is weak to and can act as a Stealth Rocker user, which gives Palossand the ability to run Toxic. Palossand also hates being worn down by hazards, especially Toxic Spikes, so hazard removers like Swanna and grounded Poison-types like Skuntank are great teammates for it. Palossand can block Rapid Spin thanks to it's its Ghost typing, something that hazard setters looking to form a hazard-(AH)stacking core like Weezing or and Qwilfish appreciate.

Other Options

Giga Drain hits Gastrodon super effectively, but Palossand can't find room for it. Giga Drain It also hits Poliwrath, Mudsdale, and Gorebyss super effectively in one slot, but it's only barely stronger than Earth Power in these cases and Toxic is more reliable in dealing with these Pokemon. Ghostium Z can be used to heavily damage Pokemon like Weezing with a 160-Base Power BP Never-Ending Nightmare while taking less damage from Knock Off. However, this takes up your team's Z-Move,(AC) that which a sweeper could use,(AC) and Palossand enjoys the passive recovery from Leftovers or the near-guarantee of taking any Dark-type move, rather than just Knock Off, from Colbur Berry. Infestation can be used over one of it's its STAB moves to trap a Pokemon that can't do much to Palossand, like Kangaskhan, or is weak to one of Palossand's STABs STAB moves, like Lanturn, but Palossand can't find room for it. A more specially defensive EV spread of 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD can be used to more reliably check Electric-types like Manectric, though it can't check stronger physical attackers like Hitomchan Hitmonchan and Archeops as reliably and it still struggles against special attackers due to its weaknesses to Water, Grass, Ice, and Ghost and a low Special Defense stat.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Grass-(AH) and Ice-types**: Abomasnow, Exeggutor-Alola Alolan Exeggutor, Lilligant, and Regice,(RC) can safely switch into Palossand's STAB moves and can either KO Palossand or set up all over on it. Jynx doesn't appreciate switching into Shadow Ball, but, once in, Jynx threatens Palossand with STAB Ice Beam or and can put it to sleep with Lovely Kiss and to start setting up. Rotom-Frost is immune to Earth Power and can OHKO Palossand with Blizzard.

**Defoggers with Super Effective moves Moves**: Lurantis, Swanna, and Sivally-Water can take Palossand's moves pretty well and proceed to threaten Palossand it with their super effective moves or use Defog away to remove the the hazards it just set up.

**Water-types**: Lanturn, Ludicolo, Gorebyss, Floatzel, and Poliwrath can all heavily damage or even KO Palossand with their STAB moves. Even with Water Compaction, Palossand is eventually broken through by Carracosta or and Huntail, and they can break through especially easily if they Shell Smashed use Shell Smash beforehand. Ludicolo in particular resists Earth Power, often won't be 3HKOed by Shadow Ball,(AC) and sets up with Rain Dance in Palossand's face versus Palossand.

**Dark-types**: Absol and Shiftry can use Knock Off to remove Palossand's Leftovers while doing massive amounts of damage. Shiftry can also use either of it's STABs its STAB moves to heavily damage Palossand,(AC) and it resists both of Palossand's STABs STAB moves. Raticate-Alola Alolan Raticate puts a huge dent into in Palossand with Crunch. Howeevr However, weakened Dark-types have to be wary of the Colbur Berry set, as Palossand can take a hit and KO them back.

**Strong Special Attackers**: Due to Palossand's lacking special bulk, generally strong special attackers like Drampa, Oricorio-Pom-Pom Oricorio-E, and Eelektross can break through it with thier their STAB moves or coverage moves in the case of the latter.

Good job MeButYou, yoshiblaze implement that and then read below

In the overview,
which is a (missing) great attribute for a wall.
In set details, I would make a change like this:
Water Compaction is the best ability it Palossand has, though it's not very
Generally I would not recommend using "it" to refer to two different things in the same sentence.

For usage tips:
When Stealth Rock is run, This is weird to me because you don't talk about Toxic, even though the two moves are slashed. You could do "When Stealth Rock in run, take advantage of Palossand's typing and access to ... by switching into ... and setting up the hazard." Then continue as you do, and add a few differences about Toxic at the end. Right now, the transition is weird. You get ready to tell people what to do when Stealth Rock is run, but then you don't tell people what to do, you talk about typing etc. Palossand's typing and unique Minor, but I don't think "unique" is the right word here. There are other Pokemon with both recovery and Stealth Rock. Maybe something like "rare"? access to both a reliable recovery move and Stealth Rock should be taken advantage of by switching into and taking hits from strong physical attackers, like Archeops' Stone Edge or Acrobatics, Aggron's Head Smash, and Primeape's Close Combat. Palossand can use Shore Up to stay healthy if weakened, making it reliable at getting up Stealth Rocks multiple times if they are ever taken off the field. Palossand can also take on opposing Stealth Rock setters like Mesprit and Regirock and hazard removers like physical Skuntank and Hitmochan. In doing this, Palossand can keep hazards on only the opponent's side of the field by scaring away these setters and removers. Team options, I would go for something like this:
Water-types, especially Special based specially offensive ones like Swanna,
Since "special" is a word on its own, I would differentiate.

Other options, use "while" for actual events, not facts / ideas
Never-Ending Nightmare while taking and take less damage from Knock Off.
C&C
Palossand's Leftovers while doing and do massive amounts of damage.

[OVERVIEW]

Palossand makes its mark on the PU tier as a great physical wall and Stealth Rock setter, sporting great physical bulk and an excellent defensive typing. Palossand's Ghost / Ground Said typing gives it Palossand useful immunities to Electric, Normal, and Fighting and also allows it to spinblock. This, combined with its bulk, allows Palossand to check notable physical attackers like Aggron, Archeops, Kangaskhan, and Hitmonchan. Palossand sports reliable recovery in its signature move, Shore Up, allowing it to keep itself healthy throughout the battle and consistently get up Stealth Rocks, supporting its team in the process. Its base 100 Special Attack and strong STAB moves in Earth Power and Shadow Ball means that Palossand it isn't too passive, which is a great attribute for a wall. Many strong special attackers like Pyroar and Eelektross also threaten Palossand, even without super effective STAB moves, like Pyroar and Eelektross. It Palossand also faces competition from Gourgeist-XL and Sableye as a spinblocking wall because it lacks access to Will-O-Wisp, though Palossand it uniquelyboasts Stealth Rock.

Moves
========
Stealth Rock constantly wears the opposing team down constantly to aid Palossand's teammates in sweeping. Alternatively, if you already have another hazard setter, Toxic can damage and wear down Pokemon that wouldn't don't take much damage from Palossand's STAB attacks thanks to their bulk like Lurantis, Gastrodon, Cradily, and Alolan Exeggutor. Shore Up helps Palossand stay healthy for the whole battle and lets it take advantage of Pokemon whose moves it resists by healing against them like Primeape and Type: Null by healing against them. Shadow Ball is a STAB move and allows Palossand to hit Flying-types and Levitate Pokemon users like Mesprit, Oricorio-G, and Weezing. Earth Power is Palossand's strongest STAB move and hits Lycanroc, Skuntank, and Aggron super effectively.

Set Details
========
252 HP and 252 Defense EVs maximize Palossand's physical bulk. Colbur Berry weakens Knock Off from Gurdurr or and Absol, (comma) allowing and allows Palossand to get a hit off, set up Stealth Rock, or heal, though the lack of passive Leftovers recovery forces to Palossand use Shore Up more often to stay healthy. Leftovers can be used instead to give Palossand passive recovery, allowing it to rely less on Shore Up to stay healthy enough to check Pokemon like Hitmonchan throughout the battle. This, however, makes Palossand much more vulnerable to Dark-types and Knock Off. Water Compaction is the best ability Palossand has, though it's not very useful most against most Water-types as because most are special attackers that get past Palossand's Defense boosts.

Usage Tips
========
When Stealth Rock is run, Palossand's typing and rare access to both a reliable recovery move and Stealth Rock should be taken advantage of by switching into and taking attacks from strong physical attackers, attackers' STAB moves like Archeops's Stone Edge and Acrobatics, Aggron's Head Smash, and Primeape's Close Combat. This will allow you to get up Stealth Rocks easily, (comma) as the opponent can't do much to stop you. When Toxic is run, Palossand can punish common switch-ins with Toxic, consistently wearing them down or possibly preventing checks like Lilligant from sweeping later on. Palossand can should use Shore Up to stay healthy if weakened, making it reliable at getting up Stealth Rocks multiple times if the hazard is ever taken off the field.
