PU Analysis Reservation Index (PM mods with any suggestions)

the drops will be available to reserve in a few days; but i'd like a council / qc member to do cacturne because it is a high importance mon

i'm not concerned with it being reassigned, i just want a very important mon like cacturne to be done by someone who we know knows the meta very well.

eh, we should be fine to release them now. Rotom-S, Muk, Pelipper, and Smeargle are available for anyone while Cacturne is available to be done by qc/council members.

I would like to do Pelipper, but I won't be starting the skeleton until I'm done with Crustle.

Thank

Hi, could I do a revamp of Drifblim? The AcroBlim set is honestly not very good right now and the analysis mentions Togetic which left the tier some time ago. The listed set for Driblim should be the SubCM set with a Sitrus Berry - it works far better than ChestoRest, and it can be a fearsome lategame sweeper. Also maybe with a SubPass set? It can pass the biggest Substitutes in existence.

And now for something completely different

Can't speak as to the final decision but I find this highly unlikely simply because the general consensus is that AcroBlim is way, way better than SubCM. It just rose in our last VR update entirely due to how strong AcroBlim is as a set. It is possible that SubCM needs an update because it's not optimal, but this is regular priority with all the other revamps we'll have going once the final tier shifts of gen 7 are over, there's not much need to change such a mediocre set. I wish there was a better answer than nobody agrees and if you really feel SubCM is the better set then maybe get some replays and post comparisons in the NP thread so people start looking at it more seriously, but for now I don't believe the consensus is in your favor.

Sorry for double post but college application stuff+school being back on is taking over my life so I'm dropping cacturne. I'll just stick to checking things until SuMo is out.

Want to see if Meditite would be good enough to deserve a PU analysis as it's banned from LC and I think it could be pretty viable in PU like the other first evolutions banned from LC such as Murkrow and Misdreavus. So far I thought of these Meditite sets that I thought might be able to be viable in PU though not exactly sure, just wanted opinions and confirmation from PU C&C staff

name: Bulky Physical Attacker
move 1: High Jump Kick
move 2: Drain Punch
move 3: Rock Slide / Fake Out
move 4: Zen Headbutt
nature: Adamant / Jolly
item: Eviolite / Life Orb
evs: 252 Atk / 192 Def / 64 Spe

Can take out Pawniard. Drain Punch/High Jump Kick - Guaranteed OHKO
252+ Atk Pure Power Meditite High Jump Kick vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Eviolite Pawniard: 828-976 (358.4 - 422.5%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252+ Atk Pure Power Meditite Drain Punch vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Eviolite Pawniard: 480-568 (207.7 - 245.8%) -- guaranteed OHKO
Same with Regice, the Fighting-type moves can OHKO
252+ Atk Pure Power Meditite Drain Punch vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Regice: 270-318 (89.7 - 105.6%) -- 31.3% chance to OHKO
252+ Atk Pure Power Meditite High Jump Kick vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Regice: 462-546 (153.4 - 181.3%) -- guaranteed OHKO
Checks Monferno
252+ Atk Pure Power Meditite Zen Headbutt vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Eviolite Monferno: 320-378 (118.9 - 140.5%) -- guaranteed OHKO
If run Rock Slide can check Articuno although Hurricane OHOKes Meditite
252+ Atk Pure Power Meditite Rock Slide vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Articuno: 360-424 (112.1 - 132%) -- guaranteed OHKO
will be explain more in the analysis if you guys confirm

name: Bulky Special Attacker
move 1: Focus Blast
move 2: Psychic / Psyshock
move 3: Vacuum Wave
move 4: Hidden Power Rock / Shadow Ball
evs: 252 SpA / 192 Def / 64 Spe
nature: Modest / Timid
item: Eviolite / Life Orb

252 SpA Meditite Focus Blast vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Eviolite Pawniard: 532-628 (230.3 - 271.8%) -- guaranteed OHKO - Takes out Pawniard
doesn't do well against Regice due to it being a special tank beast
252 SpA Meditite Psychic vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Eviolite Monferno: 168-198 (62.4 - 73.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO - Does the same as Psyshock, reliable but not as good as Zen Headbutt
This set is Articuno fodder as it can just take it out easily therefore physical set is pretty much better than this
Hi,

Firstly, the special attacking set has absolutely no merit in the PU metagame as base 40 special attack is very underwhelming, for example its STAB focus blast is weaker than Grumpigs non-STAB Focus Blast. Players have fooled around with physically defensive metagame, however we have ultimately decided its not worth an analysis (see: unranked on VR) as though it maybe slightly stronger than Monferno, its average speed and awful bulk prevent it from doing much. Additionally, it is still walled by most of Monfernos common checks, but provides little to no defensive support, and even lacks good priority. FTR, the calcs you showed don't mean much as it isn't surprising Pawniard gets OHKOd by any Fighting-type, and the reason other LC uber Pokemon have analyses is because they are good and have much better niches (eg Murkrow is a good wallbreaker due to a strong STAB, priority, and ability to go mixed).

For future references, posts like that one belong here: http://www.smogon.com/forums/threads/pu-analyses-discussion-thread.3522568/

Oh ok thanks, I also managed to move the post after realizing my mistake, but I'll keep this for future reference

Munchlax's analysis might need a revamp. Not claiming it, but the current version mentions both Poliwrath and Machoke as threats, while completely ignoring Monferno.

http://www.smogon.com/dex/xy/pokemon/ninetales/

This needs to be updated. The analysis still references things like Carracosta / Togetic / Poliwrath.
ex;
"Substitute lets Ninetales block status and block weaker attacks, letting it set up on Pokemon such as Togetic with more ease"

Probably not very high priority to fix at all, but just thought I'd bring it to attention.
