[QC 0/2] Clefable

:bw/clefable:
cpt. fatfuck

[OVERVIEW]

Clefable serves as an excellent defensive piece on stall teams, thanks to its Unaware ability in tandem with its great defensive typing allowing it to defeat common boosting threats, such as Azumarill, Feraligatr and Garchomp. Its ability as a cleric to continuously heal its teammates via Wish and Aromatherapy is nearly unmatched. However, Clefable’s passivity leaves it bait for Taunt users and it cannot deal meaningful damage back to the opponents that it sits on without many boosts from Calm Mind. Also, very powerful attacks boosted by a Choice item will blow past Clefable like it was nothing.

[SET]
name: Wish Support
move 1: Wish
move 2: Protect
move 3: Moonblast
move 4: Calm Mind / Thunder Wave / Flamethrower
item: Leftovers
ability: Unaware
nature: Bold
evs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD

[SET COMMENTS]

Wish and Protect allow Clefable to reliably heal itself and its teammates while being able to scout for any potential Choice users. Moonblast serves as a reliable STAB attack to be able to do some form of damage. While Calm Mind allows for Clefable to be a bulky win condition for the stall teams it anchors, Thunder Wave lets it be a bit more active in crippling the opposition by ruining any potential speed control, while Flamethrower lets it deal with non-Heatran Steel-types, namely Scizor and Skarmory. Aromatherapy is also an option as it lets Clefable be a cleric but renders it very passive.

Clefable is best used on stall teams, where other bulky teammates can come in on its shortcomings, primarily incredibly strong raw attacks and repeated hazard damage. Skarmory can easily switch into most physical attacks and lay down Spikes for the rest of the team to abuse, while Blissey can come in on special attacks as a primary stopgap to wallbreakers such as Choice Specs Latios and offensive Starmie. Defensive Starmie can remove hazards via Rapid Spin, and serve as a team’s bulky water-type. Both Shaymin and Tangrowth match up very well into Breloom, who is a nuisance to stall thanks to Spore and STABs which defeat Starmie and Blissey, though if Spore has already been used on Clefable’s teammates, it can duel with Breloom without too much help. Shaymin, defensive Starmie and Blissey all have Natural Cure, which allows them to come in and sponge status moves that Clefable would much rather not take as if it was nothing.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

While Clefable does have access to Magic Guard and a deep utility movepool (notably including Stealth Rock), it is largely outclassed by Unaware due to it not having access to the reliable recovery of Soft-Boiled as compared to other generations, though it does carry Moonlight. Moonlight’s 8 PP, however severely decreases the viability of other sets which would be viable with Soft-Boiled and Magic Guard, primarily Calm Mind + 2 attack ones. Having Unaware Clefable also keeps stall teams safe from Quagsire lure sets, such as Freeze-Dry Mamoswine, while also allowing them to have a wish passer.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Taunt**: Users of Taunt shut down Clefable thanks to its only attacking move likely being a weak Moonblast. It denies Clefable the ability to reliably recover, so the Taunt user would eventually win the one on one.

**Wallbreakers**: Wallbreakers, such as Choice users who use absurdly powerful moves to open holes for setup sweepers to close out the game will easily force Clefable to cycle Wish and Protect, which can be easily exploited.

**Steel-type Pokemon**: Steel-types can reliably switch in and sit on Clefable, laying down hazards if it’s Skarmory or pushing large amounts of damage (and threatening momentum) if it’s Magnezone or Scizor. However, they must be aware of Flamethrower. Heatran most notably is a hard counter to Clefable thanks to Flash Fire rendering it immune to Flamethrower, though it must watch out for Thunder Wave, which could let a partner of Clefable’s, like Blissey to defeat it.

[OVERVIEW]

Clefable serves as an excellent defensive piece on stall teams (only there?), thanks to its Unaware ability in tandem with its great defensive typing allowing it to defeat common boosting threats, such as Azumarill, Feraligatr and Garchomp. (this is genuinely lackluster, as in it only points Clefable as a staple stall - which isnt - and how it can provide support for the team outside a mention of one of the two moves it actually doesnt use quite often, and doesnt mention what it can or cant do to other mons, and no mention of anything outside Wish)

Aromatherapy is also an option as it lets Clefable be a cleric but renders it very passive. (so here Aroma is a negative but above is a positive? also what does CM do exactly?)

Clefable is best used on stall teams, where other bulky teammates can come in on its shortcomings, primarily incredibly strong raw attacks and repeated hazard damage. (again, no mention of any offensive teammate or playstyle such as balance stings, also the last sentence is literally useless as nobody of all three actually take status moves and starmie analytic is kind of the most used one for that exact reason, and if you wanna say enemy toxic or wow you should explain it)

While Clefable does have access to Magic Guard and a deep utility movepool (notably including Stealth Rock), it is largely outclassed by Unaware due to it not having access to the reliable recovery of Soft-Boiled as compared to other generations (thats it? not a mention of the meta preferring unaware, for instance? its not just softboiled), though it does carry Moonlight. (any mention of other stat spreads such as spdef Clef would be also appreciated, this is also lacking)

Checks and Counters
===================

**Taunt**: Users of Taunt shut down Clefable thanks to its only attacking move likely being a weak Moonblast. It denies Clefable the ability to reliably recover, so the Taunt user would eventually win the one on one. (any examples? thats really generic)

**Wallbreakers**: Wallbreakers, such as Choice users who use absurdly powerful moves to open holes for setup sweepers to close out the game will easily force Clefable to cycle Wish and Protect, which can be easily exploited. (same as above)

**Steel-type Pokemon**: Steel-types can reliably switch in and sit on Clefable, laying down hazards if it’s Skarmory or pushing large amounts of damage (and threatening momentum) if it’s Magnezone or Scizor. However, they must be aware of Flamethrower. honestly this isn't even that bad, its just that you're... not explaining to the average user what Clef can do or not, and without any examples to boot, other than being something you wanna field in stall teams
why would you wanna fit in?
possible teammates? possible pokemon it doesnt do well against?
what does it do outside of stall? (since clef isnt just generic stallmon n6)
its really just empty fluff, almost all of the reading i did

Please rework it following all the points before I can say this is QC ready.
QC rejected.
