[OVERVIEW]

Qwilfish's access to entry hazards such as Toxic Spikes and Spikes as well as other utility moves such as Thunder Wave, Taunt, and Haze solidifies its role as a utility Pokemon. Qwilfish's access to Intimidate and a nifty defensive typing along with an acceptable Defense stat allows it to switch into attackers such as Escavalier, Doublade, Feraligatr, Mega Glalie, and Durant and set up Spikes as they switch out. Its typing also allows Qwilfish to absorb Toxic Spikes. However, the prevalence of Ground-type attacks from common Pokemon such as Flygon and Nidoqueen lessens Qwilfish's defensive potential. Its extremely subpar Special Defense prevents it from switching into even resisted special attacks multiple times. Qwilfish's lack of reliable recovery on sets without Z-Haze lets the opposing team chip at and pressure Qwilfish very easily by stacking entry hazards and doubling into Pokemon that threaten it. Qwilfish's mediocre Speed stat prevents it from pressuring faster setup sweepers such as Kommo-o and Flygon aside from fishing for Scald burns.

Moves

Spikes allows Qwilfish to pressure switch-ins such as Mega Abomasnow and Dragalge with chip damage and also allows Pokemon such as Choice Band Zygarde-10% to secure 2HKOs against Pokemon such as Porygon2. Scald prevents Qwilfish from being completely passive, hitting targets such as Gligar and Nidoqueen on the switch and threatening physical setup sweepers such as Feraligatr with Scald burns. It also pressures some of the more offensive switch-ins such as the aforementioned Mega Abomasnow and Dragalge with a potential burn. Taunt allows Qwilfish to prevent opposing entry hazard setters such as Registeel from setting up entry hazards. It can also prevent opposing Pokemon such as Porygon2 from using status moves such as Recover and stop slower setup sweepers such as Snorlax. Haze lets Qwilfish threaten setup sweepers such as Pangoro and Bewear by resetting their boosts and allows Qwilfish to get a one-time full heal if used in conjunction with Icium Z.

Set Details
========

252 HP EVs in conjunction with 112 Defense EVs and a Bold nature maximize Qwilfish's potential to set up Spikes on physical attackers. 144 Speed EVs let it outpace and use Taunt on Pokemon such as Cloyster and Bewear, and they also let Qwilfish outspeed Adamant Honchkrow. Intimidate allows Qwilfish to more easily switch into physical attackers lacking recovery such as Mega Glalie and Feraligatr. Rocky Helmet can chip down physical attackers without recovery such as Escavalier and Durant. Icium Z lets Qwilfish use Z-Haze, which gives it a one-time recovery move.

Usage Tips
========

Make sure to capitalize on Qwilfish's ability to force out physical attackers such as Doublade by setting up Spikes as they switch out. Also, use it to pivot into resisted attacks from threats such as Feraligatr and Durant. Utilize Taunt against slower utility Pokemon such as Registeel to prevent them from setting up their own entry hazards. Take advantage of the free turn given in these situations by setting up Spikes or chipping a potential switch-in. Carefully preserve Qwilfish if your team is overly weak to physical setup sweepers such as Durant and Feraligatr, as it can be worn down very quickly. Watch out for opposing entry hazard setters such as Necrozma that beat Qwilfish. If you have set up entry hazards, try to pressure hazard removers that can switch in and use Defog against Qwilfish, such as Sigilyph and Rotom-C, by doubling out into teammates that can force more switches.

Team Options
========

Mega Abomasnow is a fantastic teammate for Qwilfish, as it can double switch and destroy entry hazard removers such as the aforementioned Sigilyph and Rotom-C as well as take down other prevalent entry hazard removers like Flygon and Gligar. Mega Abomasnow and Qwilfish also have good basic defensive type synergy, being able to cover each other’s common weaknesses fairly well. Other Pokemon that can beat or cripple common Defoggers are great teammates. A good example is Rotom-C, which can cripple some Flying-type Defoggers such as Sigilyph while sharing amazing type synergy with Qwilfish, being able to switch into Ground- and Electric-type attacks for it. Offensive setup sweepers such as Feraligatr, Kommo-o, Salazzle, and Flygon all appreciate the Spikes support provided by Qwilfish. Defensive teammates such as specially defensive Mega Steelix and Wish passers like Umbreon offer amazing defensive synergy with Qwilfish, being able to switch into attacks for each other and stack entry hazards in Mega Steelix’s case. Pokemon that can secure potential 2HKOs with Spikes support such as Choice Band Zygarde-10% are great teammates. Also, Pokemon such as Life Orb Speed Boost Yanmega and Choice Scarf Gardevoir that enjoy their checks and counters being worn down by hazards make fine teammates.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Thunder Wave allows Qwilfish to threaten faster setup sweepers such as Kommo-o and Durant. Destiny Bond can sometimes get a surprise KO against slower Pokemon such as Cresselia but has no merit aside from that and is useless against faster offensive Pokemon. Toxic Spikes gives Qwilfish another way to pressure switch-ins but can be very hard to fit on the set and is cleared by prevalent Poison-type Pokemon in the metagame such as Nidoqueen and Salazzle. Pain Split gives Qwilfish a decent form of recovery. However, it is less reliable than Z-Haze and can be easily manipulated. Black Sludge gives Qwilfish decent recovery, but it is outclassed by other items such as Icium Z and Rocky Helmet. Qwilfish can also use Toxic to cripple bulky Pokemon such as Porygon2. Qwilfish's Speed investment is also very customizable and can be adjusted to creep faster Pokemon.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Ground-type Attacks**: Ground-types and even Ground-type attacks from Pokemon such as Zygarde-10% and Bewear pressure Qwilfish easily due to its general lack of reliable recovery.

**Psychic-types**: Psychic-types such as Espeon and Cresselia outright counter Qwilfish and can KO it due to its crippling weakness to Psychic-type attacks.

**Special Attackers**: Qwilfish's low Special Defense leaves it broken easily by special attackers such as Nidoqueen and Roserade.

USUM is literally around the corner and the metas likely gonna shift 180 degrees. I suggest you stop working on this so its not wasted later when/if the meta becomes not in Qwilfish's favour, which I predict it will be since its mainly used for hazards.

This is still good to go. Qwilfish still retains an interesting niche in checking durant and feraligatr, while being the only spiker that actually resists ice (mega glalie is barely a resist to itself) and still shares excellent synergy with pokemon like mega abomasnow.

Emphasize more on its defensive niche, mention partners that appreciate spikes (basically any setup sweeper), mention mega aboma as a good partner. And you dont need that many usage tips :V

[OVERVIEW]
  • Qwilfish's acceptable Physical Defense in conjunction with Intimidate and a diverse movepool allows it to act as a great support Pokemon. (It's not great, its a decent Pokemon at best)
  • Qwilfish's access to hazards such as Toxic Spikes and Spikes as well as other utility moves such as Thunder Wave, Taunt, and Haze further bolsters it's potential as a utility Pokemon.
  • Access to Intimidate and a nifty defensive typing allows it to switch in to attackers such as Escavalier, Salazzle, Doublade, Feraligatr, Mega Glalie, and Durant. Its typing also allows Qwilfish to absorb Toxic Spikes. (Its not switching into Salazzle, +2 Z KOes and +2 Fire Blast KOes after some prior dmg, and I'd mention it switches into non-Freeze Dry Glalie)
  • However, the prevalence of Ground-type attacks from common Pokemon such as Gligar and Nidoqueen lessens Qwilfish's defensive potential. It does 30% without burn and Qwilfish could just 1v1 it with Taunt, I'd mention Flygon or Zydog since they can actually threaten Qwilfish decently
  • Its extremely subpar Special Defensive prevents it from switching into even resisted special attacks multiple times.
  • Lack of reliable recovery on sets without Icium Z lets the opposing team chip and pressure Qwilfish very easily by stacking hazards and doubling into threats that threaten it.
  • Qwilfish's mediocre Speed stat prevents Qwilfish from pressuring faster set up Pokemon such as Kommo-o and Flygon aside from fishing for Scald burns.

Moves

  • Spikes allows Qwilfish to pressure switch ins such as Mega Abomasnow and Dragalge with entry chip.
  • Scald prevents Qwilfish from being passive, hitting targets such as Gligar and Nidoqueen on the switch in and threatening physical set up sweepers such as Feraligatr with Scald burns. Not much, it's still weak asf, it even fails to 2HKO Gligar, I'd just say burns
  • Taunt allows it to prevent opposing hazard setters such as Registeel and from setting up hazards. It can also prevent opposing status from Pokemon such as Porygon2 and stop slower set up sweepers such as Snorlax. Do you mean status (like para) or status moves? I'd mention prevent P2 from recovering is nice
  • Haze lets Qwilfish threaten previously mentioned set up sweepers and others such as Pangoro, and Bewear from using Qwilfish as setup fodder. It also allows Qwilfish to get a one-time full heal if used in conjunction with Icium Z. I mean, how a faster Taunt user is a fodder? It can reset the setups, it doesn't even threaten, I'd rephrase that as:
  • Haze lets Qwilfish reset boosts from Pokemon such as Gatr, Pangoro, and Durant. And then the Icium Z phrase

Set Details
========
  • 252 HP in conjunction with 112 Def and a Bold nature maximizes Qwilfish's potential to set up spikes on physical attackers while 144 Spe EVs lets it outpace and Taunt Pokemon such as Pangoro and Bewear. Running slightly extra allows you to Taunt Pokemon such as Florges and Gligar without relying on a speed tie. 242 outspeeds Honchkrow Ada so mention that and imo reorder that, explain the Spe then the bulk, otherwise when it says "maximizes" thats not true (more of a GP thing but I'd like to point that out)
  • Intimidate allows Qwilfish to more easily switch into physical attackers such as Doublade I'd mention stuff such as Gatr and Durant as they're much more threatening and hard to check but I think its fine just mentioning Doublade.
  • Rocky Helmet Qwilfish can nicely chip down physical attackers lacking recovery such as Escavalier and Durant while Icium Z gives it reliable recovery. Tbh I'd mention Black Sludge here (with no slash, or maybe with idk) since sometimes you want recovery but can't afford to use the Z but you should probably wait for the QC) if worse, not that much to be only OO imo

Usage Tips
========
  • Make sure to capitalize on Qwilfish's ability to force out offense physical attackers such as Doublade by setting up hazards as they switch out. Also use it to pivot into resisted attacks from metagame threats such as Salazzle and Durant. Same as overview, mention maybe Escavalier, Gatr or Doublade since that uses Sacred Sword almost 100% of the time now
  • Utilize Taunt against slower utility Pokemon such as Registeel to prevent them from laying up their own hazards. Take advantage of the free turn by setting up hazards or chipping a potential switch in.
  • Carefully preserve Qwilfish if your team is overly weak to physical set up sweepers such as Durant and Feraligatr. as it can be worn down very quickly.
  • If you have set up hazards, try to pressure hazard removers which can switch in and Defog against Qwilfish, such as Sigilyph and Rotom-C, by doubling out into teammates that can force more switches.

  • Offensive set up sweepers such as Feraligatr, Kommo-o, Salazzle, and Flygon all appreciate Spikes and Toxic Spikes support as provided by Qwilfish.
  • Defensive teammates such as specially defensive Mega Steelix and Wish passers like Florges offer amazing defensive synergy, being able to switch into attacks for each other and stack hazards in Mega Steelix’s case. I'd mention Wish Umbreon instead of Wish Florges, Umbreon even resists Psychic while Qwilfish is able to check Fighting types.

=============
  • Thunder Wave allows Qwilfish to threaten faster set up attackers such as Kommo-o and Durant.
  • Mention Toxic imo, Taunt + Toxic is amazing and you can cripple Pokemon such as P2, Milotic and Chesnaught which is great.
  • Destiny Bond can sometimes get a surprise KO against slower Pokemon such as Cresselia but has no merit aside from that and is useless against faster offensive Pokemon.
  • Toxic Spikes gives Qwilfish another way to pressure switch ins but can be very hard to fit on the set and cleared by prevalent Poison-type Pokemon in the metagame such as Nidoqueen and Salazzle.
  • Pain Split gives Qwilfish a decent form of recovery. However, it is less reliable than Z Haze and can be easily manipulated by opposing players.
  • Black Sludge gives Qwilfish decent recovery but is outdone by other items such as Z Haze and Rocky Helmet. Again I'd put that on Set Details but wait for the QC

Checks and Counters
===================

**Ground-types**: Ground-types or even Ground-type attacks from Pokemon such as Zygarde-10 and Bewear pressure Qwilfish easily due to its general lack of reliable recovery. If you mention Ground attacks as well rename as "Ground-type Attacks" imo
**Psychic-types**: Psychic-types such as Espeon and Cresselia outright counter Qwilfish and can KO it due to its crippling weakness to Psychic-types attacks.
**Special Attackers**: Qwilfish's low Special Defense leaves it to be broken easily by special attackers such as Nidoqueen and Roserade.
I'm not QC but I'd make that

  • I'd combine the first sentence with the one lower about Intimidate. Same with the sentence after, seems a bit repetitive so you can just lead off w/ the "access to hazards" sentence.
  • Mention what you can do after you switch into those Pokemon e.g. use them to get a free T-wave/Layer of Spikes up.

[Hazard Setter]
  • capitalize hazard setter

  • Mention how you also threaten burning Dragalge/Mega Aboma here. I'd use the Spikes sentence to talk more about supporting Pokemon that need Spikes chip such as CB Zydoge to insure 2HKOs.

  • 252 HP in conjunction with 112 Def and a Bold nature maximizes Qwilfish's potential to set up spikes on physical attackers .
  • Gligar/Florges mention seems badly worded; these Pokemon aren't running this much speed so make it clear about that (maybe specfically mention "slower uninvested Pokemon"
  • Mention the other attackers you switch into better because of this (Gatr, w/e else)
  • Doublade lacks recovery, mention it here. If you wanna avoid being repetitive you can try to make the mons listed here and above different.

qwilfish learns liquidation so replace waterfall with that

Lack of reliable recovery on sets without Icium Z
say z-Haze not Icium Z to avoid confusion imo

im not sure about the speed benchmark (taunting pangoro seems unnecessary) but good job otherwise

Qwilfish's Speed investment is also very customizable and can be adjusted to creep faster Pokemon.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Ground-type Attacks**: Ground-types or and even Ground-type attacks from Pokemon such as Zygarde-10% and Bewear pressure Qwilfish easily due to its general lack of reliable recovery.

[OVERVIEW]

Qwilfish's access to entry hazards such as Toxic Spikes and Spikes as well as other utility moves such as Thunder Wave, Taunt, and Haze solidifies its role as a utility Pokemon. Qwilfish's access to Intimidate and a nifty defensive typing along with an acceptable Defense stat allows ("access" is singular) it to switch into attackers such as Escavalier, Doublade, Feraligatr, Mega Glalie, and Durant and set up Spikes as they switch out.

Moves
========

Spikes allows Qwilfish to pressure switch-ins such as Mega Abomasnow and Dragalge with chip damage.(period)Spikes and also allows Pokemon such as Choice Band Zygarde-10% to secure 2HKOs against Pokemon such as Porygon2. Haze lets Qwilfish threaten setup sweepers such as Pangoro,(RC) and Bewear by resetting their boosts.(period) It also and allows Qwilfish to get a one-time full heal if used in conjunction with Icium Z.

Set Details
========

252 HP EVs in conjunction with 112 Defense EVs and a Bold nature maximize Qwilfish's potential to set up Spikes on physical attackers. 144 Speed EVs let it outpace and use Taunt on Pokemon such as Cloyster and Bewear, and they also let it Qwilfish outspeed Adamant Honchkrow. Intimidate allows Qwilfish to more easily switch into physical attackers lacking recovery such as Mega Glalie and Feraligatr. Rocky Helmet Qwilfish can chip down physical attackers without recovery such as Escavalier and Durant. Icium Z lets Qwilfish use Z-Haze, which gives it a one-time recovery move.

Usage Tips
========

Make sure to capitalize on Qwilfish's ability to force out physical attackers such as Doublade by setting up Spikes as they switch out. Also,(AC) use it to pivot into resisted attacks from threats such as Feraligatr and Durant.

========

Mega Abomasnow is a fantastic teammate for Qwilfish, as it can double switch and destroy entry hazard removers such as the aforementioned Sigilyph and Rotom-C as well as take down other prevalent entry hazard removers like Flygon and Gligar. They Mega Abomasnow and Qwilfish also have good basic defensive type synergy, being able to cover each other’s common weaknesses fairly well.

Other Options
=============

However, it is less reliable than Z-Haze and can be easily manipulated by opposing players. Black Sludge gives Qwilfish decent recovery,(AC) but it is outclassed by other items such as Icium Z and Rocky Helmet. Qwilfish can also use Toxic to cripple bulky Pokemon such as Porygon2. Qwilfish's Speed investment is also very customizable and can be adjusted to creep faster Pokemon.
