Rate of the Week
Welcome to Rate of the Week! This is a project that looks to bring quality individual rates into the spotlight and recognizes the hard work of unbadged raters. Here's how it will work:
  • Each week, official Team Raters will be paying close attention to the RMT forum and reading the rates posted in their respective tiers. They will then shortlist a few which will be in contention for the Rate of the Week award.
  • From the pool of shortlisted rates, one will be chosen which most exemplifies the qualities of an excellent rate. That rater will be the winner for that particular tier!
  • A post will be made by an official TR who specialises in that tier, explaining how and why the particular rate won. This will allow aspiring raters to gain an idea of what constitutes high-quality rates, and hopefully incorporate those aspects into their own rates.
  • There will be multiple winners every week, one from OU and a couple from other tiers depending on the quality of the rates posted. We hope that in this way we can expand rating activity in less popular tiers, while maintaining a weekly OU winner.
  • Official Team Raters are eligible to win, but not more than once. Unbadged raters can win the award multiple times.
So what's in it for the winners? Well, they will earn a place in the Hall of Fame, which will be kept in the OP of every thread, and their rates will be announced on Twitter. Winners also earn more consideration for the Ladybug
and Team Rater
badges.

We hope that this project will encourage people to put more effort into their rates and become better and more experienced raters, which will consequently increase the quality as well as the quantity of rates in the forum. Good luck to you all! :)

This week's OU winner is bludz! He has made a pretty cool rate with a simple format. The rate begins with a good analysis talking about what threats may be annoying for the team, mentioning Charizards, Manectric, Excadrill and Venusaur, which is right. The first change he chose was Aqua Tail over Ice Fang on Mega Aerodactyl, which is just a simple and obvious change, but well explained. He talked about Hone Claws, beeing kinda useless suggesting and very well explaining why Pursuit or Roost are much better. Pursuit deals with Charizards, both forced out because of Mega Aerodactyl's pressure.

Then he suggested to change Serperior's set, chaning and explaining why we'd change Glare with Taunt. Glare's main target is Tornadus-T which is well checked by AV Metagross, then he talked about how useless was Substitute and as a last thought on Serperior he talked about the different kind of Hidden Power, considering how Magnezone can deal with Steels, but at the same time how Heatran annoys that team. Another small change was to give Metagross a priority move over Earthquake and slowing down it, because outspeeding other Metagross is not that necesserary.

As a third change he suggested to swap Keldeo with Assault Vest Azumarill, which is a great change how he explained, because it can deal with both Charizards, threat Skarmory and Ferrothorn, but at the same time it threats and not get KOed by Mega Manectric, which seem to be a huge threat. Taunt on Serperior is a way to deal with Stall teams because of the change of the wallbreaker, at the same time it still checks Weavile. Fire Blast over Endure on Chomp helps against Scizor, considering is not always safe to switch to Magnezone and since Keldeo is gone, it might be a little bit annoying.

As a last suggest he tried to give a "gimmick" change of set, which I saw before, I suggested either and gives the rate an original style, which is Baloon Magnezone with Magnet Rise, which doesn't mean checking better Fairies or Charizards, but beeing a better Excadrill change. Bludz wasn't sure about that change, but he wanted to gives it a try. As a last thing he talked about the 0 IVs on Atk to low as much as possible the Foul Play damage, and an import with the sets with different options in.

Thanks to his great rate and multiple in-depth options to improve the team, Bludz was able to provide a great rate, and earned herself a spot in the Hall of Fame. Congrats!
