[OVERVIEW]

Regice is a threatening sweeper due to its access to Rock Polish and good coverage moves, as well as the tier's lack of good Ice-resistant Pokemon. Its amazing special bulk makes it a good offensive check to Pokemon like Lilligant, Rotom-F, and Mesprit. Regice is also able to utilize All-Out Pummeling in order to break some of its traditional checks, such as Assault Vest Magmortar, with some chip damage. However, Regice has a crippling defensive typing and poor Defense, leaving it vulnerable to all forms of entry hazards and physical attackers. It also has a hard time setting up due to this. Regice's Special Attack stat is subpar, and it needs a decent amount of chip damage on most of the Pokemon in the tier in order to sweep. Finally, even at +2, Regice cannot outspeed many common Choice Scarf users like Primeape and Pyroar due to its lackluster Speed, although the latter requires prior damage to OHKO it.

Moves
========

Regice can use Rock Polish in order to sweep late-game once its checks have been weakened. Ice Beam is a powerful STAB move that also helps Regice check Lilligant. Focus Blast, when combined with Fightinium Z, gives Regice access to a 190-Base Power All-Out Pummeling. This allows it to OHKO Miltank, Audino and Mawile and have a more reliable move against Pokemon like Ferroseed and Probopass. Thunderbolt rounds out Regice's coverage by letting it hit Water-types, such as Poliwrath and Floatzel.

Set Details
========

Fightinium Z gives Regice access to a more reliable Fighting-type move in All-Out Pummeling to hit typical checks like Miltank. Maximum Speed and Special Attack EVs and a Modest nature are used to increase Regice's sweeping potential by increasing its damage output. Timid is an option, however, to outspeed Adamant Aggron, Adamant Golurk, and defensive Poliwrath before a boost and Choice Scarf Mesprit, Kabutops, and Passimian after, but it is noticeably weaker. Finally, Clear Body prevents Regice from getting affected by Sticky Web and moves with a chance to drop its Special Attack like Moonblast, which is occasionally useful.

Usage Tips
========

Wait until late-game before attempting to sweep with Regice, as it vital that some of its checks, such as Lanturn, are weakened. Also, make sure to remove faster Choice Scarf users, such as Pyroar and Primeape. Try to set up on a special attacker, as Regice can take a hit from most of them. Remember that Regice's insane natural bulk can be used to keep sweepers like Lilligant in check. Also, attempt to remove entry hazards before setting up with Regice, as it is weak to Stealth Rock and its chances of setting up are improved when it is at full health. Afterwards, use the Z-Move when faced with a check to Regice that would stop its sweep if it doesn't hit Focus Blast, such as Miltank or Ferroseed.

Team Options
========

Hazard control is almost mandatory when using Regice, as it is vulnerable to almost all forms of entry hazards and weak to Stealth Rock. Hitmonchan is the best Rapid Spin user in the tier, while Kabutops and Swanna take on either Fire- or Fighting-types for Regice while also providing hazard removal. In order to wear down its checks and counters, Regice also appreciates hazard support. This makes Spikes setters like Qwilfish as well as Stealth Rock setters like Golurk, Miltank, and Regirock great partners. Toxic Spikes are especially helpful to wear down Pokemon like Lanturn and Musharna. Lanturn is the biggest common obstacle to a Regice sweep. While wearing it down with hazards helps, Pokemon that pressure Lanturn like Pyroar, Oricorio-G, and Floatzel make good teammates. Similarly, Pokemon that pressure Assault Vest Magmortar like Abomasnow and Pyroar make very good partners. Pursuit users such as Skuntank trap and weaken the aforementioned Lanturn and Magmortar for Regice to sweep late-game. Finally, Swanna, Lanturn, Sableye, and Weezing help Regice take on the plethora of popular Fire- and Fighting-types that check it.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Icium Z and Electrium Z are options to break through Gastrodon and Poliwrath, respectively, but Fightinium Z is typically better because Focus Blast is unreliable and All-Out Pummeling's targets are more common. Life Orb is an option if your team already has a Z-Move user, but then Regice cannot break through its checks as easily and, in conjunction with hazards, is worn down quickly. A tank set with maximum HP and Thunder Wave could be used to be a better check to special attackers like Lilligant but is passive and suffers due to Regice's bad defensive typing. Choice Specs has some merit and makes Regice a decent wallbreaker, but it faces much competition from Abomasnow for this role, as it lacks the amazing secondary Grass-type STAB moves that Abomasnow has.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Specially Bulky Pokemon**: All-Out Pummeling is Regice's best move to hit Lanturn, and it doesn't even do 50%. In return, Lanturn can use Toxic to wear it down. Gastrodon, Musharna, Assault Vest Magmortar, and Assault Vest Hitmonchan can also easily take Regice on with their good special bulk and either their STAB moves or Toxic. Similarly, Miltank and Audino also force Regice to use its Z-Move, putting it at a disadvantage.

**Entry Hazards**: Regice is vulnerable to almost all forms of entry hazards, especially Stealth Rock, and the presence of them can make it extremely difficult to set up.

**Fire- and Fighting-types**: Assault Vest Magmortar, Hitmonchan, and Gurdurr can all OHKO Regice with their STAB moves after tanking an Ice Beam; the latter two can also revenge kill it with Mach Punch. Choice Scarf Primeape can outspeed and OHKO Regice even after a Rock Polish, and Pyroar can also threaten Regice, but if it has used Rock Polish, it is OHKOed by Focus Blast.

**Faster Pokemon**: Choice Scarf users that outspeed Regice after a boost like Pyroar and Primeape will always stop a sweep, but they cannot switch into it. Other Choice Scarf users such as Lilligant and Mesprit need very significant damage to KO it because of Regice's amazing natural bulk. Pokemon that can OHKO it Regice and outspeed it before it sets up, like Archeops and Lycanroc, also make decent checks, but in the same way cannot switch in.

**Physical Attackers**: Regice's poor physical bulk means that most physical attackers can prevent it from setting up, including Pokemon that lack super effective moves like Alolan Raticate and Kangaskhan. However, almost all of them can't switch into Regice.

Hi just a few things:
  • I'd definitely slash timid on your set, as it allows it to outspeed adamant aggron, defensive poliwrath, adamant golurk, etc. Which all threaten it.
  • Modest doesn't outspeed timid scarf kabu at +2.
  • I'd potentially mention pursuit trapping, as it helps vs things like lant and mag.

MZ

And now for something completely different

  • Regice can use Rock Polish in order to sweep lategame once its checks have been weakened.
  • Ice Beam is a powerful STAB move that abuses the tier's lack of good Ice resists. nah idt we really lack good ice resists. there's enough really splashable top tier mons like tank, mag, pilo, lanturn, etc.
  • Focus Blast, when combined with Fightinium Z, gives it access to a 190-Base-Power All-Out Pummeling. This allows it to OHKO Piloswine, Miltank and Mawile and have a more reliable move against Pokemon like Ferroseed and Probopass.

  • Timid is an option, however, to outspeed Adamant Aggron, Adamant Golurk, and Defensive Poliwrath before a boost, but is noticably weaker. see now timid can beat scarf kabu/mesprit which is relevant

something about when/how to use that z-move. also something about because of its ridiculous natural bulk, u can keep some random special sweepers like lilligant in check

i agree with yogi's point about pursuit, esp for lanturn. having a secondary mon to pressure av magmortar like a pyroar or somth isn't a bad idea either

Afterwards, use the Z-Move when faced with a check to Regice that would stop its sweep if it doesn't hit Focus Blast, such as Piloswine, Miltank or Ferroseed.

Hazard control is almost mandatory when using Regice, (AC) as it is vulnerable to almost all forms of entry hazards (webs?) and weak to Stealth Rock. Hitmonchan is the most best (I think?) Rapid Spin user in the tier, while Swanna and Kabutops and Swanna (makes lists match, since kabutops is weak to fighting) either take on Fire- or Fighting-types for Regice while also providing hazard removal. In order to wear down its checks and counters, Regice also appreciates hazard support. This makes Spikes setters like Qwilfish as well as Stealth Rock setters like Golurk, Miltank, (AC) and Regirock great partners. Toxic Spikes are especially helpful to wear down Pokemon like Lanturn and Musharna. Lanturn is the biggest common obstacle to a Regice sweep. While wearing it down with hazards helps, Pokemon that pressure Lanturn like Pyroar, Oricorio-G, (AC) and Floatzel make good teammates. Similarly, Pokemon that pressure Assault Vest Magmortar like Lilligant and (see below) Pyroar make very good partners. Pursuit users such as Skuntank trap and weaken the aforementioned Lanturn and Magmortar for Regice to sweep late-(AH)game. Finally, Swanna, Lanturn, Sableye, (AC) and Weezing help Regice take on the plethora of popular Fire- and Fighting-types that check it.

Other Options

Icium Z and Electrium Z are options to break through Gastrodon and Poliwrath, respectively, but Fightinium Z is typically better because Focus Blast is unreliable and All-Out Pummeling's targets are more common. Life Orb is an option if your team already has a Z-Move user, but then Regice cannot break through its checks as easily and, in conjunction with hazards, is worn down quickly. A tank set with maximum HP and Thunder Wave could be used to be a better check to special attackers like Lilligant, (RC) but is passive and suffers due to Regice's bad defensive typing. Choice Specs has some merit and makes a decent wallbreaker, but it faces much competition from Abomasnow for this role, as it lacks the amazing secondary Grass-type STAB moves that Abomasnow has.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Specially Bulky Pokemon**: All-Out Pummeling is Regice's best move to hit Lanturn, and it doesn't even do 50%. In return, Lanturn can use Toxic to wear it down. Gastrodon, Musharna, Assault Vest Magmortar, (AC) and Assault Vest Hitmonchan can also easily take Regice on with their good special bulk and either STAB moves or Toxic. Similarly, Miltank, Piloswine, (AC) and Audino also force Regice to use its Z-Move, putting it at a disadvantage.

**Entry Hazards**: Regice is vulnerable to almost (same as before) all forms of entry hazards, especially Stealth Rock, and the presence of them can make it extremely difficult to set up.

Other Choice Scarf users such as Lilligant and Mesprit outspeed Regice after a boost, but need very significant damage to KO it because of Regice's amazing natural bulk. Pokemon that can OHKO it and outspeed it before it sets up, like Archeops and Lycanroc, (AC) also make decent checks, but in the same way cannot switch in.

**Physical Attackers**: Regice's poor physical bulk means that most physical attackers can prevent it from setting up, even including Pokemon like Alolan Raticate and Kangaskhan who that lack super-(RH) effective moves. However, almost all of them can't switch into Regice.

Remember that Smogon uses the serial comma, which is a comma before "and" in a list of three or more.

edit: spoke to rwby on discord and said "due to lilligant not being zmove it doesnt adequately pressure magmortar enough for it to break regice" (i underlined the mention in team options)

Regice is also able to utilize All-Out Pummeling in order to break some of its traditional checks, such as Piloswine.

Moves
========

Regice can use Rock Polish in order to sweep late-(AH)game (remove comment) once its checks have been weakened. Ice Beam is a powerful STAB move that also helps Regice check Lilligant. Focus Blast, when combined with Fightinium Z, gives it Regice access to a 190-Base Power All-Out Pummeling. This allows it to OHKO Piloswine, Miltank, and Mawile and have a more reliable move against Pokemon like Ferroseed and Probopass. Thunderbolt rounds out Regice's coverage by letting it hit Water-types, such as Poliwrath and Prinplup.

Set Details
========

Fightinium Z gives Regice access to a more reliable Fighting-type move in All-Out Pummeling to hit typical checks like Piloswine and Miltank. Maximum Speed and Special Attack EVs and a Modest nature are used to increase Regice's sweeping potential by increasing its damage output. Timid is an option, however, to outspeed Adamant Aggron, Adamant Golurk, and defensive Poliwrath before a boost and Choice Scarf Mesprit, Kabutops, (AC) and Passimian after a boost, but it is noticeably weaker. Finally, Clear Body prevents Regice from getting affected by Sticky Web and moves with a chance to drop its Special Attack like Moonblast, which is occasionally useful.

Usage Tips
========

Wait until late-game before attempting to sweep with Regice, as it vital that some of its checks, such as Lanturn, are weakened. Also, make sure to remove faster Choice Scarf users, such as Pyroar and Primeape. Try to set up on a special attacker, as Regice can take a hit from most of them and then use Rock Polish. Remember that Regice's insane natural bulk can be used to keep sweepers like Lilligant in check. Also, attempt to remove entry hazards before setting up with Regice, as it is weak to Stealth Rock and its chances of setting up are improved when it is at full health. Afterwards, use the Z-Move when faced with a check to Regice that would stop its sweep if it doesn't hit Focus Blast, such as Piloswine, Miltank or Ferroseed.
