RMT of the Week
Want your team noticed by a lot of people? Do you want all the efforts you put into testing your team and writing up your RMT to count? This is where RMT of the Week comes in! The aim of this project is to give people who put effort into making quality RMTs the attention they deserve. There are a lot of teams out there that are well-built and presented, but often left in the dark. Not anymore!

Concept

  • Every week, we will nominate a few teams as candidates for the RMT of the Week.
  • These teams are put in a poll. Everyone can vote for the team they think is most deserving of the award.
  • At the end of the week, the winner will be the team that receives the most votes.
Prizes

So what's in it for the winners? Well, the winning team will be announced on social media. It will also be recorded in the Hall of Fame, which will be posted in the OP for each week, and people are encouraged to rate it. Winning the RMT of the Week also increases the chance of having your RMT added to the Team Showcase, subject to review, since it brings it to the notice of the staff. Finally, the winner will have an opportunity to give a brief interview.

RMT Requirements

  • Make sure your team is viable and effective: This one is self-explanatory. If your team doesn't fit into its tier or metagame, or lacks any kind of success, it won't have a high chance of being selected. It doesn't have to be archive worthy though, and it doesn't have to have peaked at #1; a moderately successful team can make it, but it has to work.
  • Your team should be well-presented: Wouldn't you enjoy posting in a thread more if it was visually appealing? If you put effort into presenting your team attractively, people will be more willing to rate it. We appreciate it when you take time to improve the quality of your RMTs, as it enhances the quality of the forum.
  • Be nice and receptive to people's opinions: No one likes to rate the team of a close-minded person!
For those whose teams are selected, don't ask anyone, be it friends or anyone else, on the forums or on PS! to vote for you. For friends of the people whose teams get selected, the same goes for you as well: please don't post the link in chat rooms to try and get people to vote.

The first time someone is caught cheating, their team will be disqualified and removed from the ongoing week. If someone is caught cheating for a second time, they will be permanently banned from the project.

We caught up with the winners from Week 7, 8 and 9 to ask them a few questions about their RMT's:

Week 7's winner Amoonguss and his OU RMT: xeno.
1. Can you give a brief description of your team? What do you think is the reason behind its success?

the team itself was based around nihilego. i paired ferrothorn with it for spikes support since nihilego + spikes sounded really fun in my head. landot was my choice for rocker and then i used mega pinsir because a lot of teams don't really prep for mega pinsir + spikes. ash ninja was added for mega metagross and then excadrill for spin which this team needed and another mega metagross answer. main reason for its success is i can pressure tapu fini to defog away my spikes via nihilego and then clean up with either nihilego or mega pinsir.

2. Have you received any useful feedback for your team?

yeah i have, Enki gave it some pretty good advice replacing ferrothorn with magnezone and excadrill with spin pheromosa since dual scarf isn't rly that good and magnezone helps deal with skarmory and celesteela.

3. Is there any advice you'd like to give to RMT posters?

if there's any advice that i would give as a rater it would be please add pictures and an importable. pictures let me visually see what the team is before putting it in my builder so i get a general sense of what the team is weak to and adding an importable makes me want to rate it since i don't have to put the sets in mon by mon.
4. What are your thoughts regarding SM OU?

sm ou is pretty lit rn. i don't want anything to get banned since its all super offensive and fun. p sure im gonna build more teams in the future using the new mons, mainly wanting to use alolan persian since its my favourite gen7 mon. aside from that not much else to say, thanks for interview and pce.

Week 8's winner Empo and his OU RMT: Dreaming
1. Can you give a brief description of your team? What do you think is the reason behind its success?

Well I built that team basically for some tourneys and that turned out amazing. I really like it rn although a bit weak to some mons but yeah every team has its threats! Basically its a sand offense with Volcarona which I found basically amazing. This is capable to sweep entire teams while having some threats weakened... also Ash Ninja fits well there as well and it hits so hard, I really like that mon too! Clef is there as a "sponge" and sr user, Rotom brings momentum, checks water, ground, and flying types and Ttar band + Drill is a cool wallbreaker core with Tyranitar capable of destroying teams especially stall ones with its attack and drill abusing of sand raising its speed +2 and sometimes swords dancing to win games.

2. Have you received any useful feedback for your team?

I did! :) A friend of mine, JohnxYiu, gave me a rate and it was very good. He basically did another version of the team although he said mine was already cool. He basically suggested me to add a Gyarados with a weird moveset and evs spread, to tank Chary and Greninja. Then, Metagross-Mega with Power up Punch as a Mega slot and Choice Scarf Serperior, i didn't think it was a set but yeah it works as a lategame sweeper very well. Finally, he said to change Excadrill's item to leftovers and also he added Stealth Rock.

3. Is there any advice you'd like to give to RMT posters?

Just do your best and put effort while writing RMTs. Explanations are very important for evert Rate My Team, because they are essential, especially teambuilding process, which explains your plan while building! Also, be always open to others' ideas and try to reply without being angry to them. That's everything I can say :D

4. What are your thoughts regarding SM OU?

I think SM OU is a great metagame, and I like it. I think that still something has to be banned, things like Greninja which has a ton of viable sets and you gotta think about them while battling, or mons like Tapu Lele (example), which forces you to use steels especially in balance / bulkyoff builds. Other mons to mention could be Metagross Mega or Pheromosa tho. Another important thing I would point is, shortly, how HO lost his "power" from ORAS OU to SM OU. It became more weakened due to all the threats such as tapus or just their abilities and others :[

Week 9's winner obii and his OU RMT: Triple Z
1. Can you give a brief description of your team? What do you think is the reason behind its success?

The focus of the team was cb zyg since it doesnt really have good switch ins outside of mega scizor or tangrowth so the goal was to handle those 2 really well. I think my team accomplishes that between zapdos / heatran. The main reason behind its success is the team's extremely sturdy backbone which means if you make a mistake or get set back by hax then you can still come back. Also 3 atk zapdos is very anti meta and offense cant really deal with it.

2. Have you received any useful feedback for your team?

Nothing formal but I've spoken to some friends about fixing the lele weakness. I considered rocks rachi > tran but that takes a lot away from the team's offensive capabilities. I don't think the weakness is crippling tho since there are ways to outplay.

3. Is there any advice you'd like to give to RMT posters?

Yeah. If you're gonna write an rmt make it look nice or else it's just a pain to read. Doesn't have to be super fancy just well formatted and some pictures help honestly. And if you're gonna rate a team make sure to read and understand the basis and goals of the team or else you're not really helping.

4. What are your thoughts regarding SM OU?

I think SM OU is in a great spot right now. Nothing really stands out as broken besides maybe gross and mosa (that's a big maybe) and the tier offers a lot of diversity in team building options. Paying attention to the trends in spl was very interesting too. You saw all these bulky offenses+a fini and then toxapex offenses became more common after mids. I'm excited for the new mega stones as well especially mdiancie.

Thanks for taking the time to do this and congrats again!
