The Scratching Post of Ice-cold Claws (now w/ cool new 3D stuff)

Welcome!

I've been waiting to do this for a while, glad the spriting forum is up.

For any of you who even know me from way back, thank you for knowing me!

VIDEO GAME: LITTLE GREEN SOLDIER

3D WORK

My first personal Blender project! Too excited with how the fur turned out to texture the hat, but I'll figure it out soon. That and why it doesn't seem to have fur near the back.

And my first personal Maya project, a mascot for my 3D printing club in college -- 3D4E @ USC! Turned out really well, here's the 3D print of it:

All comments will be rewarded with this happy virtual toast :toast:

These sprites look great! I love seeing CAP Pokemon in your collection o' sprites. My favorite ones too! You seem to be rather good at this, and I like the VG Concept (If not completed)

I'm so glad you made a thread, your scratch work and other Sprites are simply amazing! :]

Hey ICC, long time no see. Those video game clips look really interesting; can you tell us more about it and how you got involved? O: Your scratch fakemon sprites are of high quality as well, especially the reptile in the top row to the right. I'd say it looks legit.

Thanks very very much guys :D

Haha PoM, the reptile was actually edited by Wyverii quite a bit. Because of my lack of anatomical common sense at the time, the original version by me was quite....un-legit. I even have the exact C&C image from years back.

Yeah, I'm not that all good. :< But then again that was an important spriting lesson for me. I've been practising anatomical drawing since!

I consider the game project my magnum opus at the moment :)

If the clips don't make it clear, the crux of the gameplay is that you get to absorb enemy ammo and change to different colours, then fire ammo of your own (depending on what colour you are).
As a fan of platform shooters (all the Megaman!), what I really didn't like was that enemy ammo could break the flow of platforming, so I thought ammo absorption was a great mechanic to allow momentum in the gameplay.

The video game project started in December 2012 actually. That was right after a CAP sprite of mine finally won (i.e. Aurumoth, although Scratchet counts too), and I decided to finally take a break from spriting on Smogon. So I thought hey, why not have some medium to actually see my sprites in action.

But pathetically, I've only really completed Level 1. (I know.) Mostly because
- I'm lazy
- I'm doing the IB Diploma
- I've been trying to add a "home base" village area with all the characters I posted. It's a big process, and still looking extremely raw:

I've got big dreams for this thing, but I'll have to wait till the end of IB :(

So my next question would be are you working on this game completely independently? That's my assumption, and if so, that's really impressive.

Also, Wyv was the best, so I hear you on that.

Haha. I am! Which also explains the lack of productivity on my part.

To be honest, I made this thread partly to put myself under watchful eyes and kick back into action.

Yes indeed, all salutes to Wyv :pirate:

Ahhh, finally done with IB.

So here's a not-exactly-recent addition to the collection.....

Also considering joining the spriting competition from now on, seems fun. If any of the regular competitors see this - hey, nice to meet you.

I really like your work in general Ice-cold Claws the shading and the shapes are perfect and the theme of these sprites is just awesome. It would be nice to see a bright blue version of it !

Haha, thanks man. Here you go! Bright blue looks pretty good too, great suggestion.

Crappy brown looks really....crappy for the mega though. Purple/green/blue are the best alien colors.

Here's an overdue submission for the latest spriting contest. Ever wondered what a male Fairy-type specialist would look like?

Awesome work as always I love the shapes and the mega mawile color palette I'm really sorry that the voting period has already started, that's a great work :(

Decided to make a blue version of Angelo with more Azumarill influence because I like it more than Mawile. Xerneas is there for...color reference. Didn't turn out the way I hoped -- the white seems much less subtle than the Mawile gold. Didn't know how to change the Mawile-influenced dress thing too. Oh well.

Credits to princessofmusic for the Carbink and Klefki, and N-kin for the Xerneas. All beautiful work.

Coming up is a Ground-type Gym Leader and master spelunker, Terra. WIP:

Oh and thanks for all the support Reisen Inaba / Awu really appreciate it :) I'm constantly on watch for new contests on the thread now I'm gonna make it

I'm back, if anyone remembers me! Now with some basic experience in college, Python/C++ programming, and Blender/Maya modeling!

Pictured below: (somewhat) fresh 3D work

My first personal Blender project! Too excited with how the fur turned out to texture the hat, but I'll figure it out soon. That and why it doesn't seem to have fur near the back.

And my first personal Maya project, a mascot for my 3D printing club in college -- 3D4E @ USC! Turned out really well, here's the 3D print of it:

Next step is to actually learn texture mapping and rigging. My dream job is to be a Character Technical Director in animation, and I swear I'm gonna make it there! Step by bloody step!

Continuing my obsession with male Fairy-type specialists:

Brighton, Fairy-type Gym Leader

"The Craftsman of Joy and Wonder"

A famous toymaker who delivers handmade Pokemon plushies to every child in the region. Togekiss sends them by air, Azumarill ferries them across waters, and Whimsicott drops it down the chimneys. Brighton spends all his waking hours in his gym, the toy factory, reading letters and drafting designs at his desk.
