Prerequisites: None
Biome: Desert (Sport Balls work at peak effectiveness)

NOTE: Enemies do not drop their items when defeated.

RP Path:
RP 1->RP 2->Guardians->RP 3->RP 4->RP 5->Legend

For several years, rumors have persisted about an anomaly in the deserts of Unova. Near the Desert Resort, it is said, there is a path that leads to an endless stretch of desert. Within that endless stretch, there is a Pokemon who lures travelers to their doom with a song. Until recently, these rumors were never confirmed, and regarded as myth. However, archaeologists studying the ancient ruins have spotted a cavern that leads to a large expanse of desert, and some have even claimed they have heard music coming from that direction. Many have gone to that area only to return empty handed, or not at all.

For one reason or another, these rumors have peaked your curiosity, and you take a flight to Castelia City. Once there, you make your preparations and head to where the tunnel supposedly resides. After much searching, you finally find the cavern, the difficulty of finding it confirming why it was undiscovered up to this point. Steeling your courage, you head inside.

The cavern weaves around in a serpentine pattern, and without a source of light, you cannot even see the front of your face. Fortunately you came prepared with a way to see into the cavern, and are able to find your way through, albeit you get turned around a few times. At the end of the pathway, you end up in what appears to be a natural indoor amphitheater. To each side of you, there are raised platforms, as though seats for an audience, as well as holes in the walls that let plenty of light in. On the far side of your position, you see a stone door, as well as a plaque next to it. The plaque reads:

"Only those who hear the sound of music in their ears and in their hearts can participate in the Grand Symphony."

Intrigued, you attempt to force open the door, but suddenly you hear a faint drumming. It gets louder and louder, and then a guitar is added. The song seems to sound like something a rock band would play. Suddenly a heavy bass starts, and kicks up a sandstorm!

IF Target Pokemon is not a Flying type or Levitating (or otherwise immune to ground)

Then an Alolan Dugtrio pops out of the ground and sends shockwaves through the ground, pushing <Pokemon of Referee's Choice> a short distance away from you, and then traps it within a Sand Tomb.

IF Target Pokemon is a Flying type or Levitating (or otherwise immune to ground)

Then an Alolan Dugtrio pops out of the ground and Sucker Punches <Pokemon of Referee's Choice> hard enough to send it flying away from you. It then hits the Pokemon with an Iron Head, somehow bringing it to the ground.

Sadly, despite the fact that the Alolan Dugtrio is only a short distance away from you, the music in the area gives you and your other Pokemon an uncontrollable urge to dance. It looks like it will take you 2 Rounds to break free from this dance craze.

[REF NOTE] Initiate Trap Encounter with Alolan Dugtrio, initial moves either Bulldoze and Sand Tomb (if not flying or levitating) or Sucker Punch and Iron Head (if flying or levitating). 2 Rounds until full trainer team joins. Arena: The Gateway

Having defeated the Alolan Dugtrio, the doors then open. You can hardly believe your eyes, as before this point the area was a huge desert. The scene in front of you is a peaceful meadow, full of flowers. It would seem that you have stumbled upon a huge mirage of some sort, though based on the scorching heat it would seem you are indeed still in the desert. A serene song seems to reverberate through the area, and you feel as if you have stumbled upon some sort of fairy grove. In the distance, you see a large tower of white stone. Deciding that your quarry might be there, you head towards it.

The trip is peaceful for a while, with Pokemon all around singing a pleasant song. And then you run into what appears to be a huge oasis in the desert. Mist seems to rise off the lake, and there's a bridge that stretches out into the mist. A test of the water suggests that this is a real oasis, though you can sense that the mist and much of the foliage around it are mirages. You hear beautiful singing coming from the lake. The only question is, do you investigate it?

A) Investigate
B) Go Around the Oasis

IF "Investigate"

Deciding that you will kick yourself if you do not at least see what is going on ahead, and cross the bridge to the other side. The mist soon gets so thick that you cannot even see in front of your face, and you stop to take a look around and gather your bearings. When you do so, it clears up a little bit, and you soon take notice of a Primarina sitting on a rock and singing. Clearly this is the source of the sound you heard earlier.

Then the Primarina notices your presence, and moves to position on the bridge. Some more of the fog clears up, and it seems that there are many water Pokemon that have swum nearby, perhaps to hear the song? Regardless, you realize that while the Primarina is not attacking you, it is blocking your path and will not let you through. You quickly deduce that you can only send one Pokemon to fight her though, as the bridge is too narrow for your whole team, and going into the water may provoke an attack by the aquatic audience.

[REF NOTE] Initiate Rare Encounter with Primarina. After fight, advance to Interrupted Chorus. IF Player Wins without losing any Pokemon, then player gets 1 Max Potion. Arena: Misty Oasis

[If Condition is Met] The Primarina gets [taken down/captured], but it quickly [gets back up again/comes out of its Pokeball]. It smiles towards you, as though happy you got to hear its performance, and jumps into the water. You start to advance across the bridge, but then Primarina comes back up out of the water with a Max Potion that it kept in storage. Grateful, you pick up the Potion, and [bid farewell to the Primarina/put Primarina back in it's Pokeball], and then continue on.

[If Condition is Not Met] The Primarina gets [taken down/captured], but it quickly [gets back up again/comes out of its Pokeball]. It smiles towards you, as though happy you got to hear its performance, and jumps into the water. You start to advance across the bridge, and make it to the other side safely. [You wonder where the Primarina went to, but it is none of your concern now/Primarina greets you on the other side and joins you, having said farewell to its friends], so you continue on.
IF "Go Around the Oasis

You decide to avoid the obvious trap, and go around the lake so as to avoid it. Unfortunately for you however, the trip around the lake turns out to be incredibly difficult. More than a few times, you slip and fall into the water, and the foliage proves prickly and difficult to move past. Once you finally make it to the other side, you and your Pokemon find yourselves considerably more exhausted than before. Still, it is better than having to fight something, so you continue on.

[REF NOTE] Deduct 10 EN from all active Pokemon, advance to Interrupted Chorus

However, you eventually come across a clearing, with an Oranguru seemingly giving a musical lesson to an Exploud and a group of Loudred. You attempt to sneak through, but your allergies strike at the worst possible time, and a loud sneeze throws the whole group off of their chorus. Enraged, the Oranguru and Exploud turn their attention to you and challenge you to combat!

[REF NOTE] Initiate Guardian fight with Oranguru and Exploud. Arena: Serenity Meadow.

Deciding to leave the clearing before anything worse happens, you continue down the path, until you reach a strange structure of stone. It appears to be a gateway of some kind carved into a small plateau. To each side of its entrance you can see statues of large birds with their mouths open. Upon getting closer to the entrance, you see a large flock of Chatot, chattering among themselves. The chattering is so obnoxious that you find yourself with a dilemma: Attack the birds to try and get them to disperse, or try and go through hoping that the noise will not drive you insane.

A) Run through the horde
B) Attack the horde

IF "Run through the horde"

You attempt to dash through the noise. However, it seems like the Chatot were guarding the area, and proceed to attack you! Fortunately, you are able to get through without having to directly fight any of them. However, your Pokemon have been affected by their Chattering

[REF NOTE] Apply Chatter from a +SpA natured Chatot to all Pokemon without spread penalty, confusing them for 2A, which carries over to the next roleplay unless healed by an item. These Pokemon cannot be returned until the end of the next roleplay, or until they faint.

IF "Attack the horde"

Thinking you are not likely to get past these Chatot so easily, you decide to take the initiative and attack them first! This does have the intended effect of scattering the Chatot. However, the noise they made doing so was absolutely deafening, and your Pokemon look worse for wear after that.

[REF NOTE] Apply Boomburst from a +SpA natured Chatot to all Pokemon, without spread penalty.

Once you get past the Chatot, you feel a sense of relief, as you pass through the fairly short cavern. When you arrive at the end, you end up in a field full of Helioptile and Heliolisk basking in the sun. Thankfully they do not seem hostile, so you are able to pass with ease...at least until the Chatot from earlier come pouring in from the cavern. They seem determined to get revenge, so you run away! Before you are able to get to the tower though, you find your path blocked by three of the Chatot. It seems you will have to break through them in order to get to your destination.

[REF NOTE] Initiate Nest Encounter with Chatot x3. Arena: Solar Plateau

You reach the tower, and close the door behind you, stopping the Chatot from pursuing you any further. Once you take in your surrounding, you are stunned to find that not only does the tower look manmade, but it also looks as though it was brand new! There is a large stone door in front of you, which you open immediately. Once inside, you find that the tower is as splendid inside as outside. In front of you are two more stone doors, but these two are colored oddly; One is colored a bright green, and the other is colored a deep mix of auburn and orange. In the center lies a plaque that says "Ye worthy of the Grand Symphony, choose ye now the path you will choose to find the Songstress, the Aria, or the Pirouette. The music of the Songstress will show you the way." It seems you have an option to open one of the two doors.

A) Open the Aria Door
B) Open the Pirouette Door

IF "Open the Aria Door"

The Green door opens, and as you ascend the tower, you hear the song of music, accompanied by what appears to be a series of instruments. Your great challenge awaits at the top of the tower.

[REF NOTE] Meloetta starts battle in Aria form, with Hariyama as escort.

IF "Open the Pirouette Door"

The Orange door opens, and as you ascend the tower, you hear tapping, as though someone is dancing at the top of the tower. Your great challenge awaits at the top of the tower.

[REF NOTE] Meloetta starts battle in Pirouette form, with Musharna as escort.

After many minutes of ascending the tower, you feel as though you are about to faint, when you finally see the last steps in front of you. You open the door atop it, and light suddenly washes over you. You soon find yourself outside, on the top of the tower. Strangely, despite the fact you can see outside just fine, the entire top of the tower seems to be covered with a layer of a translucent stone. It is then that you see an odd sight

IF Option A chosen in RP 5

You see a human shaped Pokemon sitting on the ground, singing a melodious song, accompanied by a Hariyama dancing next to it. The dome reverberates with the sound of music, until it suddenly stops. The Pokemon, Meloetta, stands up and looks at you intensely, with it's loyal bodyguard not far behind. It waits until your Pokemon are at the ready, and then starts to attack!

[REF NOTE] Initiate Legend Encounter with Aria Meloetta and Hariyama.

IF Option B chosen in RP 5

You see a human shaped Pokemon rapidly dancing, performing all sorts of Acrobatic tricks and jumps. To its side, you see a Musharna, singing a rapid melody to go along with the Pokemon's dancing. Suddenly, the Pokemon, Meloetta, launches a kick in your direction. You manage to dodge, but it turns out to be a feint, and it starts to wait in anticipation. You bring your Pokemon out to take it on, and Musharna and Meloetta attack!

[REF NOTE] Initiate Legend Encounter with Pirouette Meloetta and Musharna

Dugtrio-A:
This square arena in the desert is surrounded by a natural ampitheatre of rock. However, there is very little here except sand and rocks, no nature to speak of.

Effects:
[LIST]
[*]Arena has a default Sandstorm. This weather effect can only be removed by a Pokemon using a weather move with a weather stone, and it lasts for half it's normal duration. When the weather effect ends, the weather changes back to Sandstorm.
[*]When used by Dugtrio-A, Iron Head causes a Smack Down effect on the opposing Pokemon for 6 Actions
[*]No Natural Water or Grass
[/LIST]

Guardians:
This clearing full of flowers is normally quite peaceful and calm. One can feel a strange mystic power arising from this place, which permeates all around. It seems to give unusual powers to sound, and prevents the normal methods that keep sound out, such as the ability Soundproof.

Effects:
[LIST]
[*]When used by Oranguru, Instruct behaves unusually. It moves at Priority +1, and instead of the target Pokemon using their last used move, they instead use the move they have ordered for that action, disregarding substitutions. Instruct can target a Pokemon even if they have not used a move yet. In all other aspects the move works the same as normal.
[*]The ability Soundproof lowers the base power of sound moves by 2 and their accuracy by 10% for the Pokemon, but no longer makes the user immune to sound based moves.
[*]The move Boomburst does not suffer spread penalty.
[/LIST]

Chatot:
A very large, rocky plateau where Heliolisk and Helioptile live. Normally, there would be Heliolisk here nurturing their young. However, they seem to have retreated from the Chatot, though you can still see a few around.

Effects:
[LIST]
[*]Arena has Sunny Day in effect as default. This effect can be overwritten with a weather move, but will only last 2 rounds unless the Pokemon holds a weather stone, in which case it will last 4 rounds. Once the weather effect ends the arena will revert to Sunny Day.
[*]The ability Soundproof lowers the base power of sound moves by 2 and their accuracy by 10% for the Pokemon, but no longer makes the user immune to sound based moves.
[/LIST]

Primarina:
A very large oasis in the middle of the desert. Thanks to the effect of the mirages, a thick mist permeates the area, but otherwise the place seems quite peaceful. You are currently on a well constructed, narrow bridge with water all around.

Effects:
[LIST]
[*]The ability Liquid Voice grants +2 to affected sound based moves, and cannot be disabled or swapped.
[*]Sparkling Aria get +3 BAP, Oceanic Operetta has +5 BAP, and can be used without a trainer present.
[*]By default, Fog is on the field. Primarina suffers no accuracy drop due to being used to the area. If dispelled by Defog or a Pokemon with a weather stone, Fog will return in 6 Actions.
[/LIST]

Boss:
Atop the tower is a spectacular arena with a view to match. All around one can see everything through a dome of translucent stone, which seems to carry sound throughout the arena. The floor is made of white stone, and what appear to be music notes are etched into the ground everywhere you look. A mysterious song permeates the air, seeming to get louder and louder with each passing moment. The Grand Finale has started, can you survive?

Effects:
[LIST]
[*]When used by Meloetta, the move Relic Song has 10 base BP, a 20% chance to induce Sleep, ignores Resistances/Immunities, and cannot be prevented by any means save by Meloetta being Asleep or Frozen (can still call the move with Sleep Talk though)
[LIST]
[*]Any other effects of moves will still play out (for example, if Fake Out is used on Meloetta while using Relic Song, the flinch effect will be used up despite not causing a flinch)
[/LIST]
[*]Meloetta can use the move Boomburst
[*]The ability Soundproof lowers the base power of sound moves by 2 if a damaging move, or reduces their accuracy by 10% if a non-damaging move, but no longer makes the user immune to sound based moves.
[*]When Relic Song is used, then it changes the escort Pokemon to either Hariyama (if transitioning to Aria Forme) or Musharna (if transitioning to Pirouette Forme). Both escorts share the same HP pool of 120, share abilities with each other, and are treated as though they were switched out and in when they come in.
[*]Meloetta counts as a trainer for the purposes of Z moves. Additionally, every time Relic Song is used, their Z-Crystals recharge and can be used again.
[*]Both Meloetta and their escort are able to use the move Hyperspace Hole if Psychic typed, and Sacred Sword if Fighting typed
[*]Crescendo: At the end of each round, the arena gets 1 Crescendo token. For each Crescendo token, the power of all sound based moves increase by 1 and their accuracy improves by 5%.
[/LIST]

Historical Data for runs started prior to 24/4/2017:

Siren Sands
Difficulty:
Legendary
Prerequisites: None
Biome: Desert (Sport Balls work at peak effectiveness)

NOTE: Enemies do not drop their items when defeated.

RP Path:
Lackeys->RP 1->RP 2->Guardians->RP 3->RP 4->Legend

Lackeys (2 of Igglybuff, Cleffa, and Happiny)

The cavern weaves around in a serpentine pattern, and without a source of light, you cannot even see the front of your face. Fortunately you came prepared with such a thing, and are able to find your way through, albeit getting turned around a few times. At the end of the pathway, you end up in what appears to be a natural indoor amphitheater. To each side of you, there are raised platforms, as well as holes in the walls that let plenty of light in. On the far side of your position, you see a stone door, as well as a plaque next to it. The plaque reads:

"Only those who hear the sound of music in their ears and in their hearts can participate in the Grand Symphony."

Before you can make an effort to decipher this cryptic message, you notice Pokemon beside you. At first they seem friendly, but then a strange chord of music reverberates through the area, and the Pokemon become hostile.

[REF NOTE] Initiate Lackeys encounter with two of Igglybuff, Cleffa, and Happiny, picked at random.

Revered Meadow: Choice between Kricketune horde using sing on entire party one at a time, or Amoongus using Spore on Pokemon of Ref's Choice.

Upon defeating the suddenly hostile Pokemon, you think back to the music that summoned them. The music still sounding in your ears, you check the door again. At the slightest touch, it opens, and much to your surprise, instead of the endless expanse of desert you see a peaceful meadow of flowers, trees, and dirt. One step into that dirt confirms that you are still stepping on sand. Is this some kind of large scale mirage? Regardless, you enter in, and before long are met with an odd sight. An Amoongus in front of you seems to be conducting a horde of Kricketune in a musical choir. If you're interested, you can stay and watch the performance, or you can just sneak on by before something bad happens.

a) Sit and watch the performance
b) Sneak on by

IF "Sit and watch the performance"

[REF NOTE] Roll 3 times for the accuracy of Sing, once for each Pokemon. Any Pokemon hit are now asleep for 2 Actions, which carries over to the next roleplay unless healed by an item. These Pokemon cannot be returned until the end of the next roleplay, or until they faint.

If Any Pokemon is Hit

Unfortunately, your (Names of Pokemon put to sleep) just cannot stay awake for the entire performance, and have started to sleep on the job. Fortunately, the Pokemon seem pleased that you saw their performance and leave you alone.

If No Pokemon are hit/all are immune:

You spend a good bit of time admiring the song, and your entire team manages to stay awake through it all. In respect for listening through their song, the Pokemon leave you alone to continue through the meadow. Additionally, your team seem refreshed by the rest.

[REF NOTE] All Pokemon receive +12 Energy

IF "Sneak on by"

Not wanting to waste time, you decide to try and sneak past the performance. However, the Amoongus takes offense to this, and spreads sleepy spores to (Pokemon with Lowest HP, skips immunities), putting them right to sleep! It looks like a pretty deep sleep too.

[REF NOTE] Chosen Pokemon is put to sleep for 3 Actions with Spore. The effect skips any Pokemon that is immune to sleeping or the move Spore. This carries to the next roleplay unless healed by an item. This Pokemon cannot be returned until the end of the next roleplay, or until they faint.

Mirage Path: Choice between Altaria Trap or Cacturne Trap

Continuing down the path, you eventually come down to a fork in the road. Both paths look practically identical, almost to the point where they could be mirror images of each other. Before you have a chance to ponder your situation though, an Altaria suddenly swoops down and snatches (Sleeping Pokemon with the lowest HP, if nothing is asleep then targets lowest HP Pokemon). Just as you are about to give pursuit, you realize something startling, there are two Altarias, and two versions of your Pokemon in its talons. You have to figure out which one to pursue fast.

A) Pursue the Left Path Altaria
B) Pursue the Right Path Altaria

IF "Pursue the Left Path Altaria"

You chase down the Altaria down the left path, and find that it has put your Pokemon up on a high ledge. When it sees you, it dances, readying itself for battle, and then covers itself with cotton. It will take you two rounds to get up to the ledge it has perched upon.

[REF NOTE] Initiate Trap Encounter with Altaria, having used Dragon Dance and Cotton Guard (-17 Energy).

IF "Pursue the Right Path Altaria"

You chase down the Altaria down the right path, and find that it has put your Pokemon on the ground in front of it. When it sees you, it covers the field in slowing cotton, and in the process, you find out that it was not an Altaria at all, but rather a Cacturne, shedding a cotton disguise! Before you can marvel at how this place is messing with your head, the Cacturne suddenly grows in size, ready to strike.

[REF NOTE] Initiate Trap Encounter with Cacturne, having used Cotton Spore and Growth (-12 Energy)

False Serenity: Gardevoir and Exploud.

With the enemy taken care of, you walk briskly down the path. You then reach what appears to be a clearing full of flowers, having a strange, almost mystical atmosphere. Within that peaceful grove, you find a Gardevoir and Exploud giving a song to a number of small Pokemon native to the desert. Upon entering the grove though, the gathered Pokemon disperse. Angry that you have disrupted their song, the two Pokemon attack!

[REF NOTE] Initiate Guardian Encounter with Gardevoir and Exploud.

Sonar Sentries: Choice between Chatot using Chatter on the party or Chatot using Boomburst on the party.

Laying in the Sun: Helioptile Horde

Thinking you have seen the last of those birds, you decide to head inside the structure. After much climbing through the stone gateway, you come out onto a very large plateau. In the distance, you can see a large tower, made of white stone. All around you, you can see Heliolisk and Helioptile sleeping, and collecting sunlight. You decide to walk towards the tower, but in so doing some of the Helioptile become aggressive, and attack you. On the plus side, none of the other Pokemon seem inclined to attack you, but you will have to get through these to get to the tower.

[REF NOTE] Initiate Horde Encounter with five Helioptile.

Time to Choose: Player chooses which Meloetta form the battle starts with. This choice also determines factors in the boss arena.

You reach the tower, and are stunned to find that not only does the tower look manmade, but it also looks as though it was brand new!

The Aria version of the Dome of the Songstress is used as the arena.

The Pirouette version of the Dome of the Songstress is used as the arena.

Door of Crescendos: Meloetta and Hariyama/Musharna. Hariyama shares hp with Musharna, and starts with 120 instead of 125 hp. Hariyama will be out when Meloetta is in Aria form, and Musharna will be out when Meloetta is in Pirouette form. Player gets a Max Potion for defeating the encounter (whether capture or just plain knocking them out).

Lackeys:
This square arena in the desert is surrounded by a natural ampitheatre of rock. However, there is very little here except sand and rocks, no nature to speak of.

Effects:
No Natural Water or Grass

Altaria and Cacturne:
A seemingly endless path of dirt and foliage, surrounded by all sides by cliffs, this is a favorite gathering spot for Cacturne and Altaria.

Effects:
None

Guardians:
This clearing full of flowers is normally quite peaceful and calm. One can feel a strange mystic power arising from this place, which permeates all around. It seems to give unusual powers to sound, and prevents the normal methods that keep sound out, such as the ability Soundproof...at least for the trainer's Pokemon.

Effects:
Normal typed sound based moves can be used as either Normal or Fairy typed (specified by the user, defaults to Normal if unspecified).
Soundproof does not protect against sound based moves for trainer's Pokemon (Guardian Exploud still has Soundproof)

Helioptile:
A very large, rocky plateau where Heliolisk and Helioptile live. Normally, if the Heliolisk sensed trouble to their young, they would interfere, but for some reason they seem unconcerned by the trainers.

Effects:
None

Boss:
Atop the tower is a spectacular arena with a view to match. All around one can see everything through a dome of translucent stone, which seems to carry sound throughout the arena. The floor is made of white stone, and what appear to be music notes are etched into the ground everywhere you look. The arena is permeated by a green mist, which seems to provide benefits to Meloetta. It would seem you have your work cut out for you here.

Effects:
Relic Song has a base 25% chance of inducing sleep, and gains 2 BAP.
When Relic Song is used, then it changes the escort Pokemon to either Hariyama (if transitioning to Aria Forme) or Musharna (if transitioning to Pirouette Forme). Both escorts share the same HP pool of 120, regain items if they lost them upon Relic Song being used, and are treated as though they were switched out and in when they come in. This does NOT change the arena though.
Meloetta's Sound Based Moves gain 2 BAP
Sound based moves can be used as either Normal typed or Psychic typed for everyone
Meloetta has Hyperspace Hole and Psystrike added to its movepool (These moves cannot be sketched or otherwise copied)
