Flavor: Distantly related to Wimpod, the exceedingly rare Alolan Kabuto is a living relic and a curiosity among Pokemon researchers; for some reason, the Alolan islands were the perfect habitat for prehistoric Kabuto, which never went extinct in the Alolan region, instead migrating inland and adapting to fresh water. Now patient scavengers, Alolan Kabuto prowl the bottoms of lakes and ponds in search of food. When one finds a scrap of food, it pulls the morsel underneath its shell and shudders violently, then leisurely moves away, leaving only a cloud of bubbles as evidence of its presence. Although they seem harmless, Alolan Kabuto are avoided by the Alolan people, as it produce a highly poisonous gas within its body and expels the substance when startled; although non-lethal, the toxins within cause extreme vertigo and nausea in those affected.
Design: Alolan Kabuto is a small Pokemon that reaches 0.3m in height and 7.5kg in weight. It has six legs, and it occasionally leaks gases from its eyespots (which appear to be holes of some sort), and from underneath of its rough, white shell.
Pokemon: Alolan Kabutops
New typing: Water / Poison
New abilities: Poison Touch / Rough Skin / Levitate (Hidden)
New stats: 61 (+1) / 125 (+10) / 75 (-30) / 65 / 60 (-10) / 109 (+29)
New/removed moves:
Removed Moves (11): Mud Shot, Sand Attack, Ancient Power, Smack Down, Sandstorm, Rock Tomb, Rock Power, Dig, Earth Power, Stealth Rock, Rollout
New Moves (11): Poison Gas, Poison Sting, Poison Jab, Cross Poison, Sludge Bomb, Venoshock, Belch, Clear Smog, Smog, Bubble, Bubblebeam
Design: Alolan Kabutops is smaller than its Kantonian counterpart, standing 1.1m high, and is oddly light, weighing only 31.5kg. Vents on its back, sides, legs, feet, elbows and shoulders occasionally expel an odd gas. Instead of scythes, Alolan Kabutops's arms end in long, narrow tubes that taper into points, and it possesses a second pair of arms that are identical to its main set, excepting their much smaller size. Its white shell and midnight blue underbelly are covered by thousands of tiny, jagged ridges, giving Alolan Kabutops a rough texture. Alolan Kabutops has a single retractable spike on the ball of each foot.
Flavor: In stark contrast to Alolan Kabuto, Alolan Kabutops is an extremely efficient predators and a terror to the Alolan region. Produced at an exponentially higher rate than that of their pre-evolutions, the poisonous gases of an Alolan Kabutops are stored in vast chambers within its body, and can be expelled with enough force to propel Alolan Kabutops through the water at speeds over 35 mph. These gases are lighter than air and give Alolan Kabutops impossible buoyancy; by managing production and expulsion of the substance, an Alolan Kabutops can sink or rise at remarkable speeds when swimming, float above the ground, or even take to the skies for a short time.
Due to its unique and infamous hunting style, Alolan Kabutops has earned a reputation as one of the most horrific species of Pokemon known to society. When it closes in on its prey, an Alolan Kabutops stabs the creature with its four claws and releases toxic gases from small holes near the tip of each claw; in addition to the sickening effects of Alolan Kabuto's poison, this gas significantly increases the elasticity of skin and muscles and reacts corrosively when it encounters blood, destroying it and taking the fluid's place in Alolan Kabutops's victim's body. The Poison-type injects enough gas to immobilize its prey by way of swelling and inflation of the body, immobilizing it, then causes the unfortunate creature to rupture explosively with a poke from one of its foot spikes.
Thankfully, Alolan Kabutops's list of prey is relegated to waterfowl Pokemon, favoring Psyduck, Golduck, and Delibird, but its effects are still devastating; scientists postulate that Alolan Kabutops is responsible for driving Unovan Ducklett to extinction in the Alolan region, as well as forcing most Farfetch'd away from water sources. Although Alolan Kabutops usually ignore humans, one must never utter the name "Harold" (or any of its homophones) in areas inhabited by Alolan Kabutops, as the Pokemon immediately attack anyone who does so; the prevailing theory is that Alolan Kabutops acts on a primal instinct, recognizing this sound as the cry of some favored, long-extinct prey it encountered when first arriving inland.
