Nice work, Needy! I learnt a lot from this, mainly:

1. I'm as suspicious as hell
2. We need more Australians on the IRC. After ginga died, I was basically talking through PMs. :(
3. Ginganinja is a true ninja
4. Peter the Panda Avatars exist and I want one now aaaaaaaaaa.

I think I did ok for my first Smogon Mafia, and it was a lot of fun. So thanks, everyone!

You're a super hero famous for having the ability to move at impossibly high speeds. When you heard that there was an altercation taking place in a remote town, you got there as fast as you could (Which is reeeeeeeally fast) and allied yourself with The Needy.

Each night, you may send a PM titled "Night X - Hey <user>! I got your back!" to both Upside and BunnyMaster. You watch <user>'s back for the whole night. If anyone tries to target him, you will dash in, and they will be forced to target you instead. Because you're a super hero, you're obivously superior to normal townsfolk, and you will not be willing to jump in the way if <user> is being targetted with a kill.

Well, that explains a LOT of things. I thought LKK was suspicious for defending mafia D1/2, and that Improb was for claiming thief. Yeah, n00bish, I know.

Overall, I did what I was told. I was suspicious of danman until he lynched purplefingers for being Notorious; purps was the last of his faction, and danman had lynched Nasties in past cycles (this was before I knew that the faction was split).

Claiming thief is an overused joke you will find in many mafia games where there are no items. But don't worry, I was informed that it may be taken seriously by some of the more inexperienced and gullible users...

Well since there is not a separate postgame thread I may as well post my thoughts for this game.

Well firstly I gotta say losing our inspector D1 was a bit of a blow. In fact when I logged on to IRC the chat was pretty much everyone going "ohshit village is screwed'. Thoughts had asked to be leader but nobody really trusted him and it took ages for him to post his Role PM in the thread. Basically after chatting with everyone bar thoughts, no-one wanted to step up as leader and it was clear to be that somebody had to unite the Village so I basically had to step up and do pretty much the thing I wanted to avoid, lead the Village.

Gotta admit that Improb did get a bit of info out of me early game however somebody (not an inspector) gave me info that the role Improb had given me was false. After that I never really trusted Improb since why would a Villager lie about their role? Also 2 other people had claimed BG so I knew that at least somebody was lying to me. Anyway Rayquaza died which sucked and left me with Raseri (who I just did not quite trust yet) and Improb (possible mafia) so I figured that I would die soon anyway since I ordered Raseri to protect the inspector. SO I guess I was really waiting to die which was kinda depressing.

Anyway I found the wolf (thanks to a MAFIA inspector) and Snype pretty much but me in an impossiable position in which I felt that the village would not win.

Below is the log where Snype outlined his proposal. You can all argue about whether I did the right thing or whatever. I did manage to keep peoples roles secret but yeah.

Anyway I hatched a plan which went something like Snype kills Macle, Mafia attacks the other mafia and Dan kills Snype. It did not really work but Snype did die and so did Macle so I guess it was not a total loss. Anyway I also died but left Dan in charge who then pretty much finished off the mafia so props to him

Auramaster: yeah sorry man I was going to use your ability and then decided to wait til the next night...and you died. I feel bad that you pretty much idled for much of that game so yeah, sorry.

Shuckles: man you looked SO suspicious. Talking about how you would be wolf when your twin died yet your PM said nothing...ugh. If I had lived a little bit longer I would have lead a lynch against you since you were just so suspicious.

Props for Duke being the most convincing Mafia pretending to be Village. Claimed a hard to prove role but it was similar to mine. Mind you with everyone claiming some sort of inspector or safeguard/BG I guess I had other targets.

oh and I guess Improb deserves a mention since had Mewtwo not ran-targeted you I might have ended up giving you spreadsheet access. Polelover also got me suspicious of you incidently claiming that the Inspector was mafia and posting a role PM that was the exact same role PM as yours.

oh and props to Dan for picking up where I left off and winning this thing :)

General comments

Seriously Villagers stop claiming to confirmed.suspected Mafia, I think like 3 users did that and it was really annoying.

Well I think I learn't a bit of stuff. I did make a few rookie errors which I'm frankly not proud of and I know I got a LONG way to go to be a decent mafia player. It was fun though and I think I will stick with mafia for a bit longer :)

Same reason as ginga for me putting my stuff here. If no separate postgame, why not?

Anywho, after reading the two PM's I got, I was stuck with the grand role of silencer. Now, with me not doing many games, here I am thinking "I got one of the worst roles in the game... yay", especially when I saw my partner, who could kill and alliance check. From the start, I knew we were separated, so I knew that, if we didn't start getting info, we'd never find our allies.

So, that's when I happily volunteered for the role of info gatherer. Because my partner(duke) was much more important then I was, I knew that getting info for his kills should be my priority. N0, I'd all ready been talking to a few other users, and actually got one to trust I was village that fast. The other... Well, you can see how my silence went. It all worked out.

Then, the whole Badal-Polelover madness occurred. Me and duke both thought one of them was Nasty, or else they were split like us. Most likely, they just hated each other. I went out and tried talking a bit to both of them, but to little use. Both claimed with their fake claims like mad. But, this madness also led me to many conversations with other users, which gained me trust due to my seemingly endless amount of desire to lynch both. But, I also gained a bit of interesting things from LifeAdmiral, which he knows well he could use against me.

Yeah, I deleted a lot of conversation in between, because it was mostly about Badal and Pole. That bit of information right there gave me a grand opening, but also a nice time limit. By telling duke of who it was, they lost a bodyguard, but my head gained a timer. If, at the time I'm thinking whoever on Notorious can kill, then that timer goes to zero, and Life gives this proof to lynch me. Which is why poor Life got silenced two days in a row.

And as for why Purple killed me... I got that conversation also.

I'm thinking, yeah, Badal was just trying to pull in someone else to take a fall after he died. I wouldn't think he'd be THAT crazy to give off a teammate. Apparently, he was. That was an epic fail indeed.

As for auramaster's death, also planned. Auramaster was beginning to piece together the puzzle, although I know he didn't suspect me mafia even to a tiny bit due to a talk we had after the game (Whoops XD), he would've probably found out the other mafia members, and stuck them in my face... grand. I knew his role, due to him sending it to me via PM, but knew his brain was too good. We got together with Snype about killing him, which Snype probably bet we were aiming for someone else. Bah well.

Night 3, I got stuck being inspected by Arc. Of course, I'm flipped out as soon as he sent me the first message.

I'm thinking I'm beyond dead, I'm owned. But, then he explains about the other Nasty Members, and tosses me his role PM, and his team role PM. Arc... something seemed off, but I didn't really say much about it. Him and Improbability(The other ally) were both on not much while I was, so I didn't get much of a chance to plan with them. It was a bit interesting, as I figured that we might have a chance, or be owned, so... meh. Also this night, ginga was killed accordingly, so heh, sorry, pal. And, Snype turned on us and killed Macle, which I thought was odd that he was so adamant of killing Macle, but he also died at the same night, so HAH! Arc later told me that Macle and Snype had been talking a bit, which led me to angrily casting Meteor multiple times on Snype in a private chat. He played good, and that's what angered me lol.

Now, this day is when dan took over, in which he was one who I never really got to talk to. I knew nothing of him, but knew I had to gain his trust, since ginga was suspicious of me. So, I went over and began to talk, tried to help him, and really seem like I was more village then anything else. Which, because of this, I finally got in touch with Phantasia, and got a decent bit of info out of him. Passed it along to dan, and was hoping that those two would be lynched accordingly. That way, it could stall out time for me and duke to get more info, and kill out the back-up inspector. That failed, of course.

Oh yeah, and for the final blow-up, the duct tape got a paper cut. It was kinda lame, but I died in the most embarrassing way known to man, and was accordingly not ready to die, but I don't think anyone saw that coming.

StevenSnype: *casts meteor on you again* DARNIT! Lol, you played grand to all, but with name-targeting you, and the fact of your stubbornness to kill Macle, you probably would've had a death next night if you hadn't died that night.

Advice to all:
If you go along trusting someone, always keep a watchful eye on them. I bet many of you probably would've had the same suspicions ginga had on me had you all looked a bit harder. Look at every angle in the box, and use logic to clear the way. And NEVER speak when silenced.

And finally, self-evaluation:
I think that I didn't do too bad. After all, because of my information gathering, a bodyguard and a safeguard got killed. Otherwise, being a silencer stunk. My godkilling Badal was pretty cool, but otherwise, it only REALLY irritated Life. Heh, but it was fun all the way through.

And, whoever thought I wasn't mafia before I died, hahahaha, I fooled you quite well. Anyway, good job Nasty, we still lived on. And Needy... You're supposed to let US win.

Sooo Night 0... I actually prepared who i wanted to nametarget. macle was one of them and the other two were shuckles (who apparently co-hosted the last one i was in :s) and Raverist.

What happens? I get my hook off on whoever. I get hooked and my inspect immunity is fucked up. ffs. The only info I know is that my hook priority has a higher hook than whoever-hooked-me's priority. And macle was kidnapped n0, so my inspect failed.

D1. Badal says he cleaned me as AC. I give him my fake role PM rather than my real one in fear that he would oust me. I was tempted to contact him since I knew my IPV was used up. I'm happy though since without the IPV, apparently, I was going to get found out by iimkUltra d1 and consequently get hooked/lynched... that would've been deja vu. :/

I talk around and I get purplefingers to talk to badal and see if he trusts him since I'm trying to get badal lynched. I also talk to shuckles, who is one of the first people I suspect since she claimed twin to me, so i figured that shuckles is a baddie with a mafia partner.

Lalalalallaa. N1: You can read the master sheet to see who i hooked. i get my hook off, my inspect and kill don't, and my BPV gets used up....

D2/N2:

I am one fucked wolf. But, I don't want to make this game boring with me getting lynched. I decide to help a faction out. So I randomly select a user not named badal or pole and I pick dukefan5. I tell him everythign I know and I decide to ally with whatever faction he is allied with. (If I did care about winning, then i wouldn't have kept the part about me having a hook ability.)

I get contact with him and kirby and we plan thigns out and I learn that the mafias are split up. Kirby learns that ray is the BG. So we cooperate kills. I figured that I would get hooked again, so duke would target ray and I'd get auramaster, who I felt could add 2 and 2 and eventually get 128. Little did I know that killing aura was a mistake since now dan could kill me.

D3/N3:

Oooh, macle is a reverse martyr and a nasty. At this point, i figured that all the mafias were split up. Unfortunately, this was the problem that led to my destructive behavior. If they were all split up, we needed to unite to defeat the village. I tried to make it a connection to me. So I tried to find out who all the mafia factions were and I wanted to be the link that would help all the mafia collaborate and kill together; however, I did not want anyone to find out who everyone else was, else my need would be ousted.

Then ginga contacted me and fucking arcv2 gave him my WC -___-. I tried to make this optimistic and made a deal with ginga that I would give him a mafia name each day to lynch in exchange for 2 villagers' information role. The plan was to dwindle the villies and mafia to the point where it would ultimately be one of each. Since I knew my hook was higher than everyone else's, I figured that if i get at least one mafia, myself, and a villager at the end of a day, i win by hooking the mafia and killing the village. I was willing to give up macle since I distrusted him when he told me that he knew 2 partners and the fact that he said that swampert is a hooker and he "could keep him off me," I could sense a backstab here since I thought duke/kirby were lying to me. Anyway, I convinced the Nasty duo to kill off ginga while I killed macle to level the ground (i figured with macle dead it would even out the factions 2 notorious, 3 nasty, 1 wolf/x villies).

Okay soooo
I honestly think that the mafias were unfairly fucked for a couple of reasons:

Reason 1: n0. "What does notorious mean?" asked the inquisitous Troll95. So much pressure on badal and pole now. Notorious were down 2 automatically. :(

Reason 2: 2 Full BGs. I wouldn't have minded a backup BG or something along those lines, but 2 full BGs seems to make the villies overpowered.

Bad plays in the game:
Manav signed up.
Thoughts being a dick.
Swampert claiming to a random (unless macle would like to elaborate on this)
arcv2 giving up the wolf when he's a mafia inspector.
3 or 4 inspector claims.
iimkUltra public claimed inspect.
badal getting godkilled since he was silenced. ._.
whoever-it-was-that-was-mafia-BG-that-didn't-protect-macle (That would've made the game a whole lot more interesting)
purplefingers for making meh question/answer things.

macle for not revealing much to me and still distrusting me in the end. (If you read the sheet, he targeted me with the reverse martyr role. So I was completely fucked with a RM, 2 killers, and a hooker targeting me.)

Public claiming wasn't the bad play I made, claiming to Badal was. I realised about 3 seconds afterwards that his fake PM was riddled with errors and was therefore almost certainly mafia. I had to claim, hope for protection and no lynch redirect, as without claiming I would have died by N1 anyway.

First, about our team. Before the game even started, manav easily could have had us found out. He posted the famous "what is notorious" on badal's and my own profile. However, only badal was caught. Since everyone knew manav/polelover was mafia, we had planned to out polelover and make us seem like good guys. But soon that whole plan fell through. 3/4 of our team was found out, and were all dead by day 4.

Onto to the game itself. First of all, great job by gingninja and danmantincan leading. I honestly thought I had worked my way into being trusted by dan as a questions asker, until as snype said, I "ditched a hole for myself with one of my questions," and was promptly inspected. Which question was that? I honestly BSed them all.

I used my redirect on day one, mostly because I was assuming the village didnt have a second inspector, but also because I didnt want to be in such a hole on the first day. I just wish our team could have been a little more "quiet." Also, I killed Snype only because someone had updated our spreadsheet with him being a name checker, and at that point he was who I believed to be the closest thing to an inspector the village had, so he had to go. I killed loudkirbyking only because as he posted before, he was sort of suspicious of me being mafia, and I really had no targets for the night. (danman was protected the night before so I didnt bother). Those were probably my biggest mistakes.

I thought the hosts did a very good job (WAKE UP UPSIDE!!), and gg everyone.

There issue was that there was nothing that there was nothing in your PM that said something would happen if you died. Sure I know that most twins gain powers like that but in your PM there was nothing at all like that. Also when I was discussing your teammates role PM (I believe I said it looked fake as hell) you said something along the lines of "yeah I told him to make a better one". So yeah that made me curious. Also purplefingers gave me some info (which I now know as fake) that there were no Twins.

I guess you claiming stuff that was not in your Role PM just made me suspicious and it sounded like you were claiming a role that would cause me to not lead a lynch on you. Also I was not the only person suspicious of you either (though we were both mainly suspicious of Phantasia) as I believe Dan did not trust you either.

I would like to point out that in both the beginner games I've witnessed from start to finish, mafias and wolves screwed each other over by outting each other. Remember that although they may be your opponent, every time they get smaller, the village gets more resources to direct at you, and your faction becomes a bigger target.

@Upside: I agree with you on the point that the mafia and I have ousted each other too early; this may be due to a lack of inexperienced mafia, looking at the distribution that both factions had one or two (relatively) experienced people. Notorious had badal and Nasty had macle. badal was fucked over by the inexperienced manav. macle was fucked over by nametargeting. I was also probably fucked by nametargeting and I underestimated how well some of the newer players made decisions. I'd also like to say I couldn't confidently mole since my IPV was used up n0 (stupid nametargetting, but it had to be done since without it, iimkUltra could have used it to lynch me).

@iimkUltra Posting your role PM in my opinion is a bigger mistake (I didn't read the lynch redirector's mechanics) but if the lynch redirector wasnt hooked, you would pretty much be dead d2. I believe I hooked life n1, idr.

@purplefingers I had also contacted thoughts and told him that I was a neutral that won if the villies lost. Didn't he tell you this?

Fake Claim

To start the game, I was happy that I got to be mafia this time. I looked through the Team PM, and noticed that The Nasty had been split, and the only member I knew was lkk, the silencer. As a team, we decided that I would take the role of a villager that just does what he is told, as a means of keeping suspicion off me. It also helped that Ginga was Priority Raiser, making my claim seem much more likely. In turn, lkk was to go and get information, as losing a silencer would not have been as bad as a killer.

N0, I used the alliance check on Snype, and found he wasn't an ally. This, coupled with the fact that he claimed Role Name Checker led me to target me with the kill, only to discover that he had the BPV. I also used the alliance check on Thoughts, since it was clear that he probably wasn't village. Snype then PM'd me the next day saying he was wolf. I was weary of this, since I have seen villages mole the mafia before by having someone claim wolf. But after him telling me the flavor of my own kill, I decided to trust him.

That night, we coordinated kills, taking out Auramaster and Rayquaza (this was due to the information leak of Life telling lkk that Ray was the BG). Ended up alliance checking Life, but he proved to also not be an ally. Thoughts was finally lynched that day, and then N3 came, where things took an awful turn.

I had a suspicion that Macle was probably Nasty, but didn't know how to approach him. I ended up deciding I would alliance check him, but Snype had different plans. I know see he made that deal with Ginga to save his own life, which also led me to checking Shuckles instead, mainly due to suspicious activity, and the fact that Ginga informed me that there weren't any twins in the game, and Shuckles had claimed to have a twin.

Macle died, and Nasty took its first casualty...as well as the loss of Snype's night kill. However, Arc had inspected lkk, so we had finally found the rest of our team members. However, Arc seemed to go inactive at this time, meaning he didn't provide much help as an inspector. Improb also continued to shield the village leader, which didn't seem to make much sense to me. Thoughts was finally dead, and we proceeded to planning.

For N4, we eventually decided on killing Life, as he seemed to have a pretty good head for what was going on. I also felt that Dan trusted me, so I didn't see a reason to kill a now useless role just yet. We also decided to silence Mewtwo because we thought he was Mayor, but this turns out to be incorrect as well. Unfortunately, the second inspector got Arc's role PM...as well as him apparently idling that night and sending a result from the host that didn't update. It was basically the beginning of the end from here.

I tried to kill Athasan, because Improb suspected him to be inspector, but he turned out to just be a BPV villager. Purple also killed lkk that night before being lynched himself. Had the game continued, I would have targetted Ultra for a kill, but since the village had a SECOND full bodyguard, it would have failed anyway.

All in all though, it was a fun game. Personally, I feel the village was in a large advantage from the start with 2 full bodyguards and a BPV. They also had 2 full inspects, but that isn't as bad. As far as Notorious went, Manav basically screwed them over, so that was rather unfortunate. I was also not a fan of Nasty being separated to start, but it made for somewhat of an interesting dynamic in the game. As far as the village goes, I've got to congratulate both Ginga and Dan for leading the village very well.

Bad Plays:
-Manav giving out his entire team
-Arc giving the wolf up to the village
-Improb seemingly protecting the village leader every night...basically meant there were 3 bgs that were helping the village
-Thoughts role claim...very quickly backfired on him
-Snype's backstabbing, although personal feeling wage into this one
Props:
-Lkk for being a great teammate. You were able to get a shocking amount of information out of people for seemingly no price at all
-Danman/Ginga - Great job leading the village
-Purplefingers - You were never on my target list for Notorious. Well played.
-Snype - Basically made the game harder for every other player out there

Thanks to BM and Upside for hosting. Game may have had some balance issues, but it was still fun. Look forward to another game starting up.

This was a fairly fun game for me, since I now got to experience this game as a villager, and wind up leading the village, after ginganinja died. The one thing I noticed immediately after this game started and I got my Role PM, I actually talked in public chat! which was something I didn't do in ESS.

You've come across the Atlantic from Russia to carry out an assassination; however, this altercation between The Needy, The Notorious, and The Nasty is preventing your plane from leaving to Washington. Anyways, I wasn’t doing much for the first little while. I pointed out some errors in badal’s, pole’s and thoughts’s claimed PMs (which wasn’t hard to do), and claimed to ginganinja on Day 2.

After Night 2, auramaster died, which meant two things for me. I gained a bottle of wine (in a game without items), and gained ginga’s trusted ending up getting access to the spreadsheet (which unfortunately didn’t have entire Role PMs) and then switched the info over to my own. I started talking to ginga about people I thought were suspicious (or at least on the priority list of being inspected). These people included; Thoughts, purplefingers, StevenSnype, shuckles my hero, Phantasia, Improbability and Raverist.

After Night 3, we’ve had 2 failed lynches (one was a semi-success since badal ended up getting himself godkilled) and ginganinja died. So I stepped up as the next leader, posting my Role PM and logs with ginga, hoping to gain the trust of the rest of the village. I know that Improbability was supposed to be protecting ginganinja, but he claimed he was hooked (using Thoughts’s flavour), but Thoughts said he targeted StevenSnype that night, so that was even more evidence against Improb. Anyways, the village decides to lynch Thoughts (again), so we knock off another baddie. I also confront LifeAdmiral and give him spreadsheet access, intending for him to take over if anything happened to me.

With Night 4 being the first night that I have to decide who does what, I send out what I would like people to do. I send some people out, in hopes to gain some information. I have arcv2 check loudkirbyking, while UltraPorygon inspects arcv2. arcv2 turns out to be a mafia, so we now have a lynch target for the day, and another suspect in loudkirbyking. Unfortunately, we lost LifeAdmiral this night.

So after lynching arcv2, I go to UltraPorygon and give him access to the spreadsheet. I have him inspect purplefingers, who was suspected for claiming to badal, while he is being protected by Raseri. Improbability was told to protect me, and I had mewtwo15026 track him, just in case. I told UltraPorygon that if anything should happen to me, he will go to either purplefingers or aurapaladin with the information, depending on his results for the night.

So we lynch purplefingers (with super awesome flavour), and I assume that we are left with one mafia remaining. BunnyMaster ends up calling the game, after finding out my plans for the night, UltraPorygon was going to inspect either Improbability or Raverist (likely the latter) and our lynch for the next day, would have been one of them depending on the results of the inspect, deciding that only one mafia would not have been able to take down all of the remaining villagers.

Props:
-ginganinja: You did a good job setting everything up for me to finish off the mafia. Unfortunately your reign as village leader was marred by a Lynch Re-direct and a LPV.
-dukefan5: You did a really good job of slipping under the radar. The only thing that made me want to inspect you was that your role was an opposite of ginga’s.
-loudkirbyking: It seems that you did a good job of getting a lot of information for your faction.

Slops:
-manav95: You took both your sub (polelover44) and badalcristiano out with you.
-badalcristiano: Even though manav took you down, you decided to go one step further by saying that purplefingers and StevenSnype claimed to you. Both are fairly good players and should have easily been able to know that your role was fake. So why would they claim to you, unless they are allied with you. Not only that, but you get yourself godkilled, so the village was able to (somewhat) make-up for the lynch re-direct.
-arcv2: You shouldn’t have revealed that Snype was the wolf. If you kept that information to yourself, your team would have had a great ally in the game.
-Thoughts: You kept saying that you would lead, but they delay posting your role, which made you suspicious to a lot of people. Then you posted your role and....yeah.
