CAP 33 So Far

--

Legal Pokedex submissions must meet the following standards:
  • Species Names cannot be over 13 characters.
  • The submitter must show they have made a best effort to write flawless grammar. The CAP mod team will make an effort to correct all unambiguous issues when the thread is closed, but you should not rely on this.
  • Pokedex Entries cannot be longer than 30 words and cannot be over 153 characters (this includes spaces and punctuation).
  • Pokedex Entries can only contain the following characters:
    • Letters A-Z
    • Numbers 0-9
    • Dash (-)
    • Apostrophe (')
    • Double quote (")
    • Period (.)
    • Exclamation point (!)
    • Comma (,)
    • Colon (:)
    • Semi-colon (;)
    • Space
Work In Progress (WIP) Pokedex Entries can be posted at any time for comments from the community.

No more than three WIP Pokedex Entries can be posted by any individual person through the entire course of the submission thread. This limit applies to ALL posts made by a single person, even if previous posts are edited or deleted. This limit is intended to curb the tendency for some submitters to spam the thread repeatedly with multiple Pokedex Entries. This detracts from other submissions and makes it difficult for commenters to survey the submission thread.

Do not bump your WIP Pokedex Entries by posting them repeatedly, or making minor wording changes. Bumping will result in the disqualification of all Pokedex Entries by the offender. Editing or deleting bump posts will not prevent disqualification.

Final Submission Post

Only ONE Final Submission can be made per person.

Pokedex entries Final Submissions must posted exactly in the following format and in the following exact order:
  • The first line of the post must have the words "Final Submission" in bold on its own line. No other text may be included before the bold heading.
  • A blank line
  • "<Pokémon Name>, the <Species Name> Pokémon", with the Pokemon name and the Species Name in bold
  • A blank line
  • The Scarlet Pokedex Entry submission. Start with the letters "Scarlet" in bold, then a colon (:), and then the Pokedex entry.
  • A blank line
  • The Violet Pokedex Entry submission. Start with the letters "Violet" in bold, then a colon (:), and then the Pokedex entry.
  • A blank line (optional)
  • "Proofread by: ", followed by 1 - 3 names of users who have proofread the Final Submission entries (optional)
Below the Final Submission you can post other comments, explanations, etc.

By making a Final Submission, the submitter gives the CAP moderation team the right to:
  • Upon slating, copyedit their submission for minor spelling/grammar errors.
  • Upon winning, send their submission to the GP team for larger spelling/grammar revisions.
Example final submission:
Final Submission

Dragapult
, the Stealth Pokémon

Scarlet: Dragapult can make its whole body transparent by clearing its mind and focusing. Even the Dreepy in Dragapult’s horns become invisible.

Violet: The fastest Dragapult of the group is always surrounded by Dreepy that want to fly at sonic speed.
Any Final Submission that does not follow the proper format will be disqualified.

Final Submission

Cresceidon
, the Sailor's Tale Pokémon

Scarlet: Despite this Pokémon being a rare sight, it became well-known across the world after a famous art piece depicted it.

Violet: Cresceidon blend in with the night sky due to their luminous scales, leading to many accidental collisions with ships.

Cresceidon,
the High Tide Pokemon

Scarlet: When looking for a partner, Cresceidon’s horn glows brightly. Once two of them press their horns together, they will spend the rest of their lives by the other’s side.

Violet: They use bioluminescence to communicate from afar. The messages are surprisingly complex: scientists believe that they use unique patterns as surrogate names.

WIP

Cresceidon
, the Riptide Pokemon

Scarlet: The juvenile often are known for destroying coastal towns by accident because of their careless races, occasionally causing tsunamis.

Violet: Their horns contain mystical energy that they use to change the density of their horn causing them to quickly accelerate.

Final Submission

Cresceidon,
the Great Wave Pokémon

Scarlet: For centuries, its mysterious silhouette has been seen traveling over moonlit waves, capturing the imagination of cultures worldwide.

Violet: Though it's rarely aggressive, Cresceidon's might is not to be underestimated. With the power to bend the tide to its whim, even Gyarados fear its wrath.

Final Submission

Cresceidon
, the Tsunami Pokémon

Scarlet: Those who touch Cresceidon's body are said to experience momentary relief from all their pain. Swimming beside one is a one-in-a-million opportunity.

Violet: It changes size depending on the lunar phase. Some myths tell the story of a great wave of more than thirty meters tall.

Cresceidon
the Tsunami Pokemon

Scarlet: Cresceidon grows to fearsome heights by drawing in seawater. At its peak it crashes into the shoreline, pulling its prey out to sea where it can drown it in the undertow.

Violet: Its body is made of 90 percent water. Water pollution has made it aggressive, and has been seen to direct its wrath towards ships and coastal cities.

the scarlet entry is a reference to orcas intentionally beaching themselves to catch prey on land, after which the tides will pull them back out to sea. i was thinking about how this might hunt as an actual animal rather than mystical water phenomenon and i thought that seemed like a fitting way that also matched being a destructive tsunami. the second entry is tying into its Poseidon-like name, smiting humans for their reckless attitude towards nature. also its hatred of poison as a fairy type :)
I decided to make the entries pretty unfriendly since the original woodblock print is supposed to depict the terror and strength of the ocean, towering over and ready to grasp the tiny fishing boats which are completely at the mercy of its countless white claws.

WIP

Cresceidon
, the Rogue Wave Pokémon.

Scarlet: More of a force of nature than a Pokémon, Cresceidon can flood entire cities in an instant. Sailors often have to reroute to avoid its territory.

Violet: The waters in which this Pokémon resides are influenced by its mood. Many find beauty in the calm, rolling waves created by a content Cresceidon.

Final Submission

Cresceidon
, the Great Wave Pokémon.

Scarlet: Cresceidon's speed and size proved to be useful to sailors of old, who would harness its immense power to speed up long voyages.

Violet: The shimmering waters and luminous crest of a Cresceidon makes it difficult for artists to capture its likeness accurately on a canvas.

Cresceidon,
the Tsunami Pokémon

Scarlet: Cresceidon is highly territorial and defensive. The only pokémon it shares space with are those too big to shove around.

Violet: Scientists often argue about the size and composition of its body, but general consensus is approaching it for field studies is too risky.

WIP

Cresceidon,
the Great Wave Pokémon

Scarlet: Cresceidon captures its prey by ramming it with its wave like body. Tentacool pass through unharmed, however.

Violet: Only the top of Cresceidon's body contains living tissue. Its crest controls seawater to achieve massive sizes.

Cresceidon,
the Friendly Wave Pokémon

Scarlet: Acidification has made its scales brittle and rough. These days, Cresceidon struggle to draw strength from the moon due to nighttime light pollution.

Violet: Ocean microplastics have reduced Cresceidon lifespans by three-quarters. Cancer incidence has skyrocketed among the species over the past ten years.

we need darker Pokedex entries

Cresceidon, the Storm Surge Pokémon

Scarlet: A shanty about Creseidon rescuing a galleon during a storm is popular among seafarers. Its cells thrive on moonlight and storms' kinetic energy.

Violet: Creseidon and Vaporeon have similar molecules, being able to melt or densify in water. Its cells inspired the inventors of lunar photovoltaic panels.

WIP (1/3)

Cresceidon
, the high tide Pokémon

Scarlet: Cresceidon was first depicted by an unrecognized artist, who claimed had never been to sea. While the truth remains a mystery, the artist rose to fame.

Violet: On moonless nights Cresceidon floats invisibly on the ocean surface. Only during a full moon you might see its glowing crest tower above the horizon.

WIP

Cresceidon
, the Grand Wave Pokémon

Scarlet: Despite their large size, Cresceidon are quite gentle. According to a report, a Gholdengo successfully surfed on one.

Violet: Shores frequented by Cresceidon are so brightly lit that they often have no need for lighthouses.

Cresceidon,
the Whitecap Pokémon

Scarlet:
On auspicious summer nights when the moon is high in the sky, they ascend from the ocean floor in great masses and bask in the starlight. It was once believed that they came from the moon themselves.

Violet: There is an old tale of a ship that was lost in a great fog miles from land, but was guided back to shore by a massive Cresceidon.

Final Submission

Cresceidon,
the Great Wave Pokémon

Scarlet: On auspicious summer nights when the stars are high in the sky, they ascend from the ocean floor in great masses and bask in the light of the moon. It was once believed that they came from the moon themselves.

Violet: Cresceidon was first described in a glorious painting made by an artist hundreds of years ago. It is now commonplace for an amateur painter to stand at the water’s edge for days in hopes of witnessing its spectacular starry pelt.

WIP

Cresceidon
, the Genius Loci Pokemon

Scarlet: Said to be the embodiment of ocean currents, Cresceidon's power and temper fluctuate depending on the lunar phase, becoming erratic during a blue moon.

Violet: Cresceidon can convert any liquid it touches into more of itself. When its crescent horn glows, illusions of drowning loved ones will appear inside it.

A Genius Loci, in the basic sense, is a particular location's protective guardian spirit, which I feel best represents this force of nature;
Scarlet invokes entries from Suicune & Tapu Fini, as well as the lunar effect;
Violet is inspired from SCPs 2316 & 3280, both of which are water-related phenomena.

WIP

Cresceidon
, the Genius Loci Pokemon

Scarlet: It is said to be the embodiment of ocean currents and a herald of Kyogre. Sailors once paid tribute to Cresceidon in exchange for safe voyages.

Violet: Cresceidon can convert any liquid it touches into more of itself. No matter what, you do not recognise the bodies that manifest during a full moon.

Scarlet's invokes entries from Tapu Fini and Kyogre. Violet is inspired from SCPs 2316 & 3280, because that's the best Fairy-Type reasoning that came to mind.
What is a genius loci?

WIP

Cresceidon,
the Great Wave Pokémon

Scarlet: Cresceidon are highly protective over the Pokémon that live in the bodies of water they inhabit, going as far as forcefully moving fishing boats away from their territory. But do so gently as to not hurt anyone.

Violet: Even though they are docile around most, Cresceidon are territorial only around each other, often fighting for large bodies of water, the commotions can cause large tidal waves.

WIP

Cresceidon
, the Deluge Pokémon

Scarlet: When a Cresceidon emerges from the sea, it is noted for its brilliant hues, as well as creating catastrophic floods.

Violet: In spite of its massive size, Cresceidon is rarely aggressive. It frequently lets small Pokémon ride on its horn.

Final Submission

Cresceidon
, the Great Wave Pokémon

Scarlet: On the night of a crescent moon, it rises from the deep. It controls the ebb and flow of the tide with its horn.

Violet: It is respected and feared for its power over the ocean currents. In its presence, smooth seas can quickly become fearsome tidal waves.

Cresceidon
the Gentle Giant Pokémon

Scarlet: Known to help lost sailors it has the wish to help people but can sometimes accidentally harm them instead

Violet: Once thought to be extremely rare it is often found in vast open expanses of water rarely seen near land masses.

WIP

Cresceidon,
the Lunar Pokemon

Scarlet: The crescent-shaped horn on its head controls waves. It uses this to guide lost vessels to shore.

Violet:
Its glimmering scales betray an immense power within. Ocean-dwelling Pokemon will avoid it in reverence.
