[Overview]
Cofagrigus has access to Nasty Plot and Trick Room, which, combined with its decent Special Attack and very low Speed, makes it a threatening late-game cleaner. Its Ghost typing also allows it to work as a spinblocker for offensive teams. Cofagrigus has great bulk, making it easier to set up; however, low HP and the lack of a recovery option make it harder to win games if it has already been weakened. Due to its mediocre Special Attack and lack of powerful coverage, even boosted Cofagrigus struggles to break specially bulky Pokemon such as Registeel, Porygon2, Snorlax, Umbreon, and Meloetta. Once Trick Room is set, Cofagrigus has only four turns to act before it ends, limiting its capabilities.

Moves
========
Trick Room makes Cofagrigus act before virtually everything for the next four turns. Nasty Plot boosts Cofagrigus's Special Attack to very high levels. Cofagrigus's main STAB attack is Shadow Ball, which hits most of the tier for neutral damage. Hidden Power Fighting hits Normal- and Dark-types, giving Cofagrigus perfect neutral coverage and OHKOing Bewear at +2 almost always after a layer of Spikes; however, Cofagrigus still struggles to do much against most Normal-type Pokemon.
Set Details
========
A Quiet nature with 0 Speed IVs ensures that Cofagrigus will be as slow as possible to outspeed more threats under Trick Room. The EVs in HP and Defense ensure that Cofagrigus will never be 4HKOed by Umbreon from full HP, beating it more easily. The rest of the EVs are put in Special Attack to make Cofagrigus hit as hard as possible. Ghostium Z allows Cofagrigus to use a very powerful Never-Ending Nightmare to weaken or KO a bulkier threat, and it KOes Chesnaught and Gligar at +2 and Quagsire after some prior damage. Mummy is the only ability available, allowing Cofagrigus to cripple Pokemon making contact that rely on their ability such as Araquanid, Mega Glalie and Guts Machamp.
Usage Tips
========
It's usually better to preserve Cofagrigus's HP until late-game when the opposing team is weakened and Cofagrigus can sweep. It should wait for Protect users such as Registeel and Umbreon to be removed, since Protect will stall out Trick Room, making Cofagrigus easier to revenge kill later. Cofagrigus can also be used to weaken the opposing team for a teammate to sweep later; however, it works better as a late-game sweeper. Cofagrigus should use Nasty Plot before Trick Room, leaving it with four turns to attack instead of three. It also can work as an emergency check to some threat if there's no need using Cofagrigus to sweep. If the opponent has a Chesnaught, it's worth saving the Z-Move for it, as it is immune to Shadow Ball thanks to Bulletproof and takes low damage from Hidden Power Fighting. Cofagrigus can also set up Trick Room for a slow teammate to weaken the opposing team; however, its teammate will only have three turns or fewer to benefit from Cofagrigus's Trick Room.
Team Options
========
Wallbreakers such as Choice Specs Gardevoir and Pangoro can help pressure Cofagrigus's checks such as Umbreon and Registeel, and they can also make use of Trick Room against faster teams. Fighting-types such as Bewear can help Cofagrigus against Dark-types such as Pangoro and Umbreon. Dark-types such as Sneasel and Drapion check threatening Ghost-types such as Mismagius and Hoopa. Similarly, Normal-types such as Snorlax and Meloetta are also able to check Ghost-types for Cofagrigus. Entry hazard support from Pokemon such as Nidoqueen, Archeops, Froslass, Chesnaught, and Mega Glalie makes it easier for Cofagrigus to sweep later, and Cofagrigus can work to prevent Rapid Spin. Nidoqueen can provide Stealth Rock and pressure Registeel, while Cofagrigus can pressure most Psychic-types in the tier.

Other Options
=============
Thanks to Cofagrigus's decent support movepool with access to moves like Will-O-Wisp, Toxic Spikes, Haze, and Pain Split, a defensive set could be used to check threats such as Machamp, Mega Glalie, and Araquanid better. However, it's heavily overshadowed by Jellicent, which has access to reliable recovery, Taunt, and a better typing.
Checks and Counters
===================
**Specially Bulky Pokemon**: Specially bulky Pokemon such as Snorlax, Porygon2, Meloetta, Umbreon, and Registeel can take Cofagrigus's hits and cripple it with Toxic or attack it; Umbreon and Registeel in particular can use Protect to stall out Trick Room, making it easier to revenge kill Cofagrigus. Meloetta is particularly a great check thanks to its bulk and typing, which give it an immunity to Shadow Ball and let it take very low damage from +2 Hidden Power Fighting, and ability to use Cofagrigus as a fodder to set up Calm Mind.
**Ghost-types**: Hoopa, Mismagius, and Decidueye can beat Cofagrigus outside of Trick Room with a powerful Ghost-type Z-Move. Hoopa can also KO Cofagrigus, even without a Z-Move, after Stealth Rock damage. However, they can't switch into Cofagrigus or beat it under Trick Room.
**Dark-types**: Dark-types such as Sneasel and Pangoro can severely weaken or KO Cofagrigus; however, they have to be careful, since Cofagrigus takes less damage from Knock Off due to it holding a Z-Crystal, and +2 Hidden Power Fighting can OHKO them.
