I don't actually watch the show but based on the title and roster I'm assuming Liko, Roy and all their cat friends get vaporized by Spidops Beast who will now be the new protagonist. Can anyone confirm this for me?

I know you're joking but no.

It's basically Sprigatito gets anxious and sad after unintentionally hurting Liko during a training battle and they happened to be near the breeding center where Sprigatito was originally raised, which the latter noticed, and it went back there because it felt bad about itself.

The sheer amount of cats in this episode basically is because that breeding center was a place for cat Pokemon, including Sprigatito, and Liko's Sprigatito originally lived there alongside other Sprigatito before being sent off to become Liko's starter. This episode basically delved into Sprigatito's backstory and Liko and Sprigatito becoming closer.

Spidops was basically a troublemaker that Liko's cat fought off once to save its fellow Sprigatito and then it had to do it again this time to protect Hatenna and Terapagos. So it's something Liko's Sprigatito has a bit of a history with.

Trying to think what other animal themes are possible... mice/rodents, obviously, though we've literally just had a Tandemaus-focused episode. Snakes? Turtles? Monkeys? Butterflies? Horses? Actually there's a few come to think of it.
