Challenge (Failed) Pokemon Black and White 3 Trilocke

Good Eeveening everyone! I once again lost every relevant tournament I competed in, so its time to relax a little and play vs AI instead of actual people. Despite what the title says, its not a Hackrom of Pokemon BW or BW2, its a Hackrom of Pokemon Crystal. The game still takes place in Unova though, a few years later after the events of BW2. Main feautures of the game include:

-Fully demade Unova region on GBC hardware
-New original story featuring many characters from B/W/B2/W2
-Demade music tracks for Unova locations
-New Cries for all Gen3+ Pokemon
-252 Pokemon available, selected from throughout the first 5 generations of Pokemon (and Sylveon too).
-255 moves from throughout the first 5 generations
-Physical/Special split on moves
-Fairy type added, and type chart adjusted to account for it
-Many various items from newer games
-Running Shoes available from the start
-Reusable TMs
-Move Reminder
-Much more Bag space
-All evolutions available in a single player game
-Reusable Repels
-Various other minor quality of life improvements

Rules of this Nuzlocke will be:

-If a Pokemon dies, it can,t be used again. Exception: if a battle is supposed to be lost in early game (Don,t think there will be such a battle).
-I can only catch the first Pokemon that appears on each location unless I already have it.
-As an added rule to the above one, I can only catch Pokemon whose evolutionary line has 3 or more Pokemon in vanilla games. What does this mean? 3 evolution lines, Eeveelutions, Pawniard/Bisharp and I think that's it. No legendary Pokemon is allowed (only Solgaleo and Lunala would have been if they were present in the game) and powerful Pokemon like Gliscor, Stunfisk or Weavile are also vetoed.
- Gift Mons and Static encounters are not considered the first catch of their locations, meaning I can catch them on top of catching one more Pokemon on that location. However, they need to fulfill the rule of having 3 forms in the evolutionary lines. If they don,t fit the criteria, I can trade them away if given the option.
-Shiny Pokemon can be caught and used at any time, even if they don,t fit the criteria.
-Set Mode is enabled.
-I can use a healing item in battle for each one the opposing trainer uses and only after they use it.

So, lets begin the challenge.

Chapter 1. Gameboy Color Unova.

The title screen has already been seen before:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-0.png

I choose my gender:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-1.png

I also set the time, like in Pokemon Crystal. Hopefully it matters for in-game events.

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-2.png

...I was asked about!

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-3.png

But she allows me to call her Profesor Bianca.

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-4.png

Usual presentation stuff comes:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-5.png

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-6.png

Ok, its a decent sprite. Would like to see the feminine one I didn,t choose.

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-7.png

Bianca tells me that she is going to send me a Pokemon. Then the actual game starts:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-8.png

Surprisingly there is no Potion at the PC. However the map is visible:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-9.png

So, Humilau City, close to the Pokemon League, is where I begin. I haven,t played BW2, so some parts of the Unova region I don,t know and it will be interesting to discover them.

I go down to the lower semi-flooded floor, where I meet Mom:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-10.png

...you got up!

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-11.png

...asking for you.

I now need to go to Marlon's house, but before that I receive an unknown item:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-12.png

Must be like a Pokegear. I also need to check the day of the week and confirm the time... which is when I discover I fucked up:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-13.png

AM. AM. AM. Not PM. I now will be forced to play in the morning most of the time, which I don,t like so much. But ok, lets see how it goes.

I talk to the other woman:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-14.png

...the Marine Tube later today!

Oh damn, my Mom is bisexual (the superior sexuality). Her date tells me she has a daughter my age that wants to become Marlon's assistant.

I explore the city, which turns out to be built on water:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-15.png

The Tecnology fat guy is present:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-16.png

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-17.png

...share them on the Internet!

In one house I receive a Heart Scale. Neither Luvdisc nor Alomomola are available in this game, so I don,t know how people get these things.

Of course, I can,t leave the town on the Pokemon League side. The other exit of the city is the Marine Tube, but its also blocked:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-18.png

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-19.png

...Town...

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-20.png

Pokemon Center is blocked by some thief:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-21.png

...with me today?

In one house a boy wants to trade Pokemon but I don,t have any. So, with nowhere else to go, I visit Marlon. He is not there however:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-22.png

...a few minutes ago.

Marlon then got a phone call and went away. His wife thinks he went to Route 22. Since its dangerous to go outside without Pokemon, I have to pick one of the 3 on the desk. So, Snivy, Tepig or Oshawott? The answer is easy for me:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-23.png

Honestly, Serperior is not a very good Mon without abilities. It has a terrible movepool (though it does include Leech Seed and Glare, huge moves) and low offensive power, while not having excelent bulk. However, Serperior is still my favorite Unova starter, so lets see how much time Sally lasts.

I go to Route 22, which has the Unova Route 1 theme. A girl gives me the coveted Potion. In the grass I train Sally vs wild Pidoves and Patrats. Unfortunately for me, this is the moment in which a f***ing shiny Purloin appears:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-24.png

With no Pokeballs in my posesion, I am forced to kill the cat. PAIN.

I train Sally until she is at level 6, then continue exploring the route, getting another Potion and an Oran Berry from a tree. At the end of the route, there is the Giant Chasm, where I enter.

Inside I see some shady operation:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-25.png

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-27.png

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-28.png

...me.

Then, the guy or girl (gender isn,t clear for now), sees me:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-29.png

...saw here!

The misterious person escapes. I follow him or her and get into Route 23, which has one of the best themes of the region (search Unova Route 11 theme on YT).

The path there is blocked, however:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-30.png

...Pokemon League.

Of course, without badges I can,t go there. Giant Chasm has another exit, though, to Route 13. Part of that route is blocked by 2 trainers fighting:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-31.png

The other part of the route leads to a familiar place, Lacunosa Town. I explore it but apart from 2 Berries, don,t get anything useful, Marlon is not in sight.

I go to the next Route, 12. There, Sally grows to level 7 and learns Vine Whip while defeating a wild Shroomish. Then, I find the misterious person I met at Giant Chasm:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-32.png

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-33.png

(Evil music starts to playing here)

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-34.png

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-35.png

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-36.png

...lesson!

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-37.png

Oh, so its female after all. She sends Tepig. Sally uses Leer and gets a Tail Whip.
Both Pokemon use Tackle.
Both Pokemon use Tackle again.
Both Pokemon use Tackle again.
Sally is faster, so she wins the battle:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-38.png

Sally also grows to level 8. After the battle...

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-39.png

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-40.png

...anyway.

I get the package and the name of my rival:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-41.png

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-42.png

...the strongest Pokemon trainer in the world!

Infer escapes and then Marlon appears:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-43.png

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-44.png

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-45.png

...how you'd hang there.

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-46.png

...with Pokemon.

Marlon tells me that he asked Profesor Bianca to send me a Pokemon and that he was right about doing it. I then open the package:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-47.png

Marlon also gives me some Pokeballs. Nuzlocke challenge starts here. Marlon goes away to Undella Town. I check what Mons I have available at my current Route 12: Lillipup, Pidove, Budew, Igglybuff and Ralts. This is what I catch:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-48.png

Stoutland suffers from not having Intimidate, but its otherwise a solid Normal Mon. It has a solid level-up movepool and learns some powerful TMs too.

I go back to Lacunosa Town where I get a call from Bianca:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-49.png

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-50.png

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-51.png

...to help!

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-53.png

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-54.png

After talking with Bianca I go to Route 13, where I now can access grass. Of course, I accidentally challenge a trainer while doing so. Sally is strong enough to defeat a Patrat 4 levels lower. I add the trainer as a contact for my "Pokegear".
I then look what I can catch at Route 13: Sewaddle, Venipede, Budew, Azurill and Mareep (also Lillupup and some forbidden Mons). This is what I catch:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-55.png

Ampharos is doesn,t have Fire Punch in this game unlike in vanilla Crystal, since its a physical move. However, it gets Discharge, Power Gem and Signal Beam among other moves, so its actually better. An Electric Mon is always useful to have with a Grass starter.

Giant Chasm is the next place where I can catch a Mon. Here I only have 3 options: Zubat, Cleffa and Roggenrola. My catch is the most obvious one:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-56.png

Well, Crobat is always a good Mon, fast strong and not without bulk. The problem is getting this thing to be a Crobat. Right now it only has Leech Life as a move, which does not have the Gen 7 power.

One last place where to catch a Mon is Route 22. Options are Pidove, Azurill and Igglybuff. So, the last catch of the day is...

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-57.png

Honestly, never liked this Mon, worst regional bird by far. Its not terrible though, Stats are decent and movepool the one you can expect from a Normal-Flying Mon.

Time to finish the chapter here and train the team:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-58.png

Chapter 2. Dangerous fishes.

I use the availabkle Routes to train my team. Some of them in fact end up quite overleveled:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-0.png

I then go to Route 13, where I face a Lass. Vampiresa is very weak but Purloin is one of the few Mons she can defeat with Leech Life. At level 7 Vampiresa learns Poison Sting, which allows her to win vs Pidove too.
Vampiresa continues her killing streak vs a School Kid, who has Azurill, Budew and Igglybuff.
Next School Kid makes a surprise move in switching out his Sewaddle when Vampiresa is about to kill it, sending Venipede instead. Vampiresa can,t damage Venipede, so I switch Uso Zuria in, killing both bugs.
Before finishing the route, I find a Red Shard.

I enter Undella Town, where I meet Marlon:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-1.png

...battling on the way here!

He also informs me about a Contest in Route 14. He suggest me taking part there before challenging his him.

I explore Undella Town and get challenged by a Fisherman. Amphy OHKOs 2 Tympoles with Thundershock.
Fishing Guru lives in this town and gives me an Old Rod. I use it in this town to catch...

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-2.png

Water-Ground typing is amazing for Nuzlockes. Seismitoad has solid Stats everywhere and a very good movepool. In this game its even better than usually, due to learning Recover at level 20. The only problem will be getting Vibracio to that level, Tympole by itself its not a good Mon.

There is one house in Undella Town that is locked. I wonder who lives inside (piano music intensifies)...

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-3.png

I try to enter Reversal Mountain but am stopped by a guy:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-4.png

Its a dangerous place and I need 1 badge to enter inside.

I face another Fisherman. Amphy destroys his Mantyke.

With nothing more to do in Undella Town, I go to Route 14. Here I can catch a Sewaddle, a Venipede or a Ralts. I catch the rarest of the 3 this time:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-5.png

Both Gardevoir and Gallade are very good Mons due to learning Recover at level 19. Like with Vibracio, the main problem will be getting there. Valiant replaces Uso Zuria in the team, in order to have type variety.

After training my team (especially Valiant) a little, I go and challenge the "Nugget Bridge" of Route 14:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-6.png

...Undella Town school!

First Preschooler leads with Purloion, which Valiant can,t touch, having only Confusion as offensive move. Vampiresa has Leech Life for the cat, but isn,t strong enough to defeat the dog (Lillipup), so Sally finishes the battle.
Valiant manages to defeat the Mareep of the second Preschooler, but ends up paralyzed while doing so. Sally has to kill the Drilbur that comes next.
Third Preschooler leads with a Patrat that doesn,t get to move, Valiant crits it. Lillipup is stronger, once again Sally has to finish the battle.
I find a total of 3 items before 4th trainer: Potion, Net Ball and Heart Scale.
Valiant confuses the Snubbul of the 4th Preschooler, but gets a Tail Whip. Scared of the defense drop, I send Vampiresa, but after a couple of hits, she ends in crit-KO range of Bite. Amphy finishes Snubbul, but a Ralts haxes him with Double Team and Confusion. Sally comes in, but Ralts avoids too many hits, so Vibracio has to finish it, having conveniently Swift to ignore evasion boost.

Last trainer is Nursery Aide, the teacher of all previous ones. She just has a Blitze. Valiant gets a Confusion hit before being in crit-KO range. Amhy paralyzes the zebra with Thunder Wave but ends up weakened by Quick Attacks. Sally finishes the battle and I get a Pokemon Egg as a prize.

I obviously hatch it right away with turbo mode:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-7.png

Lucario learns Recover in this game... but isn,t a valid Mon to use in my challenge, so this Riolu goes to the PC.

Instead of taking the long way, I go back to Humilau City by Marine Tube. There are some trainers there. Most of them are easy to defeat, but a Nursery Aide has an Audino, which takes a while to kill, since its very bulky vs my team of NFEs.
A man says that there are some hidden items in Marine Tube and a woman gives me a Silk Scarf, which I give to Rastreator, currently my strongest Mon.

Time to challenge Marlon's Gym. First swimmer there leads with Azurill, which Valiant defeats. Tympole is too strong however, so Amphy has to kill it with Thundershock.
Second swimmer has a Remoraid. With Psybeam. Vs Vampiresa. And crits:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-8.png

RIP Vampiresa.
Hopefully I can get a Golbat later in the game.

Sally comes in and kills the fish. After that I pick Uso Zuria from the PC.

I give 3 types of Berries to my team and challenge Marlon:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-9.png

Ok, we have the number advantage and by a lot. Marlon leads with Marill. It uses Rollout on Amphy and gets hit by Thundershock.
On the second turn, Marill dies:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-10.png

The other Pokemon Marlon has is a much more dangerous level 13 Basculin. It uses Rain Dance before being paralyzed by Thunder Wave.

I switch Sally into Aqua Jet.
Sally uses Vine Whip. Basculin can,t move.
Sally uses Vine Whip again. Basculin uses Take Down, which does a lot. Both Pokemon heal with Oran Berry at the end of the turn.

I switch Amphy back, but Take Down does a lot too. Amphy eats Oran Berry but is in KO range.

I send Vibracio, who almost dies from Take Down too.

Uso Zuria switches in for free, Basculin can,t move.
Uso Zuria uses Quick Attack and loses half of its HP from Take Down.
Marlon heals Basculin with a Potion, getting hit by Quick Attack.

I switch Rastreator in, who also loses a lot of his HP from Take Down.
I heal Rastreator, who takes Aqua Jet.

I switch Valiant in...

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-11.png

RIP Valiant. Fuck the broken fish. Hopefully there is some route with Kirlia.

At least, nothing prevents Sally from finishing the battle now:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-12.png

Vibracio grows to level 12 and learns Bubblebeam.

Ok, this battle was a complete disaster. I thought some of my Mons were overleveled, but Basculin proved me otherwise, even a non STAB 90 power Move 2HKOs my whole team. I receive the badge and Rain Dance TM.

This is how my team ended up before finishing the chapter:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-13.png

Chapter 3. The haunted house.

After leaving the Gym, I enter the Reversal Mountain, when I can catch a new Mon. Roggenrola, Aron and Timburr are the options. This is what I catch:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-0.png

The main problem this line has is getting to level 32 to be a Lairon. Otherwise, Steel typing is very solid and Stats are good. It learns Meteor Mash in this game, but Iron Head is a better move for Nuzlockes.

I train my team at the Reversed Mountain. Notably Vibracio learns Mud Shot, Nora both Metal Claw and Rock Tomb, while Amphy...

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-1.png

After the training, I explore the cave. A Blackbelt challenges me. Nora defeats his Roggenrola but has to escape from Timburr, who Uso Zuria kills, learning Air Cutter in the process (at level 15).
A Lass with Munna tries to Stall Nora with Rest, but it doesn,t work for her.
I find a Moon Stone. Close to it a Hiker withdraws his Dwebble vs Nora, sending his own Aron. Both Pokemon hit with Mud Slap, but I don,t want to risk Nora, so I switch Sally to kill the Aron. Nora comes back for Dwebble after that.

A Hiker with a very powerful Onix gives me troubles. Onix crits Rastreator and then doesn,t get OHKOd by Sally's Vine Whip either, dropping her speed with Rock Tomb. Nora has to kill the rock snake.
I find the Rock Tomb TM. Nora already knows it, but I teach it to Rastreator.
Vs a Backpacker's Snubbul, Rastreator shows his dog dominance and crits with Tackle. He also defeats the Swoobat that comes after that.

Female Backpacker's Mawile damages Nora too much, so I need to send Amphy to kill it.

I then find a guy in black:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-2.png

(Evil music starts to play)

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-3.png

...that!

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-4.png

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-5.png

...Plasma!

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-6.png

His only Pokemon is Gastly, who is fully walled by Rastreator, who has Bite:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-7.png

The Plasma Grunt escapes after threatening me.

Next opponent is a Battle Girl. Sally defeats Roggenrola and Timburr in a row, but ends up too weak to fight vs Aron, so Amphy finishes the battle.

I exit Reversed Mountain and end up in Lentimas Outskirt. There I beat a doctor, who just has a Nosepass (easy prey for Vibracio). He heals my team after the battle.
There is only 1 available Mon for me in Lentimas Outskirt:

Solid Fight Mon, bulky and powerful. Timburr evolves at level 25 and Gurdurr at 40.

Since I want Etarra(Timburr's nick) on the team, I try to avoid Lentimas Outskirts trainers. First one however is an unavoidable cyclist. Sally beats both Lillipup and Marill without being damaged.

Exploring the Outskirts, I enter into a Strange House:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-8.png

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-9.png

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-10.png

I certainly don,t want to play yet with some ghost, but I do want to catch one. Yamask and Drifloon are not allowed, but the classic ghost is:

Ok, this is (a future) Gengar. It was OU in GSC, so it must be strong even without Ice Punch. After all, Shadow Ball and Sludge Bomb are special moves in this game.

I escape from the house and try to find a city or town. Accidentallly I bump into a School Kid. Rastreator easily beats Pidove, Patrat and Blitze. And its his last battle as Lillipup:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-11.png

I continue searching for a populated place in which I can use the PC. However, what I find is Lostlorn Forest. Out of 2 different bugs I can catch there, I find this one:

Not the worst bug. Scolipede is fast and hits hard, while having a pretty solid defensive typing. It learns Extreme Speed in this game... which doesn,t help it much.

Instead of exploring the forest, I go back to Lentimas Outskirts and continue the search of a populated place. Finally, I arrive to Lentimas Town.
Here, I finally replace Uso Zuria with Scoli:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-12.png

After training Scoli a little, I easily defeat the remaining Lentimas Outskirts trainers and enter Strange House again.
I find another explorer of the house in one room:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-13.png

...house too?

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-14.png

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-15.png

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-16.png

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-17.png

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-18.png

When I check the desk, something moves in fact:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-19.png

I get access to 2 other rooms. One of them is very big and has Will-o-wisp TM, which no one in my team can learn.
The other room has a chair that also makes something move.
I explore several other rooms. In one of them, there is a possible trade:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-20.png

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-21.png

Both are forbidden Mons for me, so not in this run. However, the bed on the right gives me access to the final room, where I have an HM:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-22.png

But the story doesn,t end there:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-23.png

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-24.png

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-25.png

After that, the ghost girl dissapears. No battle this time.

So, I can leave the house and finish the chapter here. Current team:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-26.png

Chapter 4. The Tomb.

I explore Lentimas Town. In one house an old dude wants money:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-0.png

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-1.png

I receive Amulet Coin for my charity. Since I don,t have battle items outside of the Silk Scarf Rastreator is wearing and some berries, I give Amulet Coin to Sally.

Turns out, there is a Gym in Lentimas Town:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-2.png

I am given a Spell Tag in another house. I also find a Fire Stone.

There is an airport, but since I don,t have a Boarding Pass, I can,t enter:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-3.png

So, I enter the Gym instead. Its a Ghost Gym, the leader is my favorite ex-Elite Four Shauntal.
First Hex Maniac has her Yamask beaten by Scoli (who has Pursuit). Gastly however uses Hypnosis and follows with Curse, so Rastreator has to finish the battle.
Second Hex Maniac has her Litwick and Yamask beaten by Rastreator too.
Third Hex Maniac tries to hax with Minimize Drifloon, but Nora hits Rock Tomb. Frillish is murdered by Sally.
Fourth Hex Maniac has a single Golett, easy prey for Vibracio.

Time to face Shauntal:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-4.png

She leads with Gastly. It uses Curse and dies from Rastreator's Bite:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-5.png

Litwick comes in. I switch Vibracio into Confuse Ray.

I switch Rastreator back... into Will-o-Wisp, which is not good.
Rastreator uses Encore.
Rastreator uses Bite for free.
Another Bite kills Litwick:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-6.png

Last is a SPIRITOMB. I switch Amphy, who takes a lot from Feint Attack.
Amphy uses Thunder Wave, surviving Hex in red.

Rastreator comes into Shadow Sneak.
Rastreator uses Encore. The battle would be won here if Rastreator wasn,t burned.
Rastreator uses Bite.
Rastreator uses Bite. Encore ends.
Rastreator uses Encore.

I switch Nora into Shadow Sneak.
Next Shadow Sneak is crit. Nora uses Metal Claw.

I switch Rastreator in again. Spiritomb can,t move.
Rastreator uses Encore, surviving the burn with just 1 HP:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-7.png

Vibracio comes into Shadow Sneak.
Vibracio takes another Shadow Sneak and uses Growl.

Scoli comes into Shadow Sneak.
Spiritomb can,t move. Scoli uses Rollout. Spiritomb eats Oran Berry. Encore ends.
Scoli uses Rollout and takes Hex:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-8.png

RIP Scoli. I don,t know how to win this battle.

I send Sally. She uses Razor Leaf and crits, but is put to sleep with Hypnosis.
I sack Rastreator while Shauntal heals Spiritomb with Potion:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-9.png

RIP Rastreator. And probably wont, be the last victim.

I send Nora, who uses Mud Slap. Spiritomb can,t move.
Nora uses Mud Slap again and avoids Hex.
Nora uses Mud Slap and avoids Hex.
Nora uses Mud Slap but Spiritomb finally hits Hex:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-10.png

RIP Nora. Her Mud Slaps probably saved this battle.

I send Amphy. Since Shauntal used a healing item, I can do it too. I use Super Potion. Spiritomb can,t move.
Amphy uses Spark. Spiritomb can,t move.
Amphy crits with another Spark and the battle ends:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-11.png

Meanwhile, Sally grows to level 17 and...

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-12.png

I get the badge and the Hex TM. The price has been huge:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-13.png

I am forced to take out of the PC the only 3 Mons stored there, Uso Zuria (Pidove), Etarra (Timburr) and Gaseosa (Gastly).

I do a short training before entering Lostlorn Forest, where I do another one (notably Uso Zuria learns Rest by level). After that, I explore the place.
A School Kid with Karrablast and Shelmet challenges me, but Etarra has Rock Tomb.
Next is a Younster with Cottonee, Purloin and Foonguss. Uso Zuria defeats all of them and grows to level 21:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-14.png

A haxy School Kid appears. His Venipede gets to poison Etarra before falling, so Amphy has to kill Joltik and Sewaddle, eating 2 crits in the process.
Sally sweeps vs a Lass's Petilil and Ralts.

I teach Sally Cut to advance, there is a tree blocking the way. It will probably take a while to forget that move. I get a prize in Miracle Seed, which I give to Sally. Etarra gets the Amulet Coin.
A Pokemon Breeder leads with Budew, which paralyzes Gaseosa, however she still wins vs Budew and Shroomish.

At the end of the Forest, I find 2 Plasma Grunts:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-15.png

...way?

They are searching for Nimbasa City, but then see me.

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-17.png

First grunt leads with Woobat. Sally escapes from it and Amphy takes Gust. Woobat gets to use Pursuit before dying to Spark. A Zubat comes but Supersonic does no effect, so the battle ends.
Second grunt leads with another Mon Sally can't beat, a Gastly. Uso Zuria comes in and kills both Gastly and Purloin without being damaged.

Both grunts leave, not before threatening me. I find a Leaf Stone and plan to finish the forest... but Infer appears:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-18.png

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-19.png

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-20.png

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-21.png

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-22.png

...lesson!

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-23.png

Ok, we have a full team vs 3, can,t be that bad (Shauntal's Spiritomb disagrees though). The lead is a shiny Ralts. Sally uses Razor Leaf, while Ralts boosts Evasion with Double Team.
Sally hits second Razor Leaf, killing Ralts:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-24.png

Now Sally has to escape, since an angry Pignite comes. I switch Vibracio in while the pig uses Defense Curl.
Vibracio uses Bubblebeam. Pignite uses Defense Curl again.
Vibracio uses Bubblebeam again. Pignite barely survives, but spends the turn boosting Defense again.
Vibracio gets a totally free kill:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-25.png

Last is Riolu. Vibracio uses Bubblebeam and avoids Fury Swipes.
Vibracio finishes the battle:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-26.png

Vibracio also grows to level 20 and learns Recover, first step to being unkillable.

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-27.png

I mean, if only one of her 3 Mons got to use an offensive move and missed it...

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-28.png

...back.

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-29.png

...with Team Plasma.

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-30.png

...lucky!

Huh, is this girl from Team Plasma? Infer leaves.

Before I leave Lostlorn Forest, I face a Pokemon Breeder. Sally easily wins vs Igglybuff, but not before gettin confused, so Amphy has to beat Munna and Jigglypuff.

I finally leave the forest and enter Route 16, where I finish this chapter. Current team:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-31.png

Chapter 5. Searching the right way.

On Route 16 there are 3 available Mons: Solosis, Gothita and Magnemite. This is what I catch:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-0.png

Even without Magic Guard, Recover and high bulk alone makes this a very good Mon for Nuzlockes. The only problem is getting to level 24 for Recover and to 31 for evolution, Solosis by itself has pretty bad Stats.

I avoid all trainers of Route 16 and enter Nimbasa City to heal.

Then I go back to Route 16 in order to beat the trainers. I also find a Quick Claw, which I give to Etarra. Amphy gets the Amulet Coin. Soon I won,t be needing the coin.

A tragedy happens when I face a Backpacker and lead with Gaseosa vs Drilbur. I obviously switch Gaseosa out, but Drilbur uses Pursuit:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-1.png

RIP Gaseosa. It was a very promising Mon, firing powerful Hexes. Hopefully I can get a Haunter later in the game.

Sally murders all the Backpacker's team and learns Leech Seed in the process.

Mitosis enters the team and I train her a little. Then I beat all the trainers in Route 16. The last of them gives me a moment of panic when he leads with Houndour vs Mitosis, but it doesn,t use Pursuit. I also find the Sunny Day TM.

Time to explore the big Nimbasa City. In the house of the Name Rater there is a door I can,t open:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-2.png

...closed.

In another house a woman gives me a Soothe Bell. Her stairwell is also closed.

There is a shop that sells Vitamins... for 9800. I have 20K right now, so can only afford 2, but don,t want to buy them.

I briefly visit Route 5, where I can only catch 1 Mon:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-3.png

Unlike Reuniclus, Gothitelle is not a good Mon, but not terrible either. It has passable bulk and learns some Fairy moves, but that is. Until I find the Rest TM, it won,t be very good.

Back in Nimbasa City I find another shop, this one sells TMs. I buy Bulldoze and Thunder Wave, going bankrupt after that. I teach Thunder Wave to Mitosis and discover that no one can learn Bulldoze on my current team.
Another shop sells all kind of Pokeballs, but I have enough of those.

I discover that I can go to Route 4. There I accidentally face 2 trainers. First one has his Sewaddle and Sandile defeated by Uso Zuria. Second leads with Drilbur vs Mitosis. This Drilbur doesn,t use Pursuit but still leaves Mitosis very weak before falling to Hidden Power Water. The Marill that comes next is easily beaten by Sally.
I also have to beat a Policeman to get to the Sand, where I can catch a Mon. Vibracio kills Houndour and Herdier.

Sandile, Elekid and Magby are the possible Mons in this route. This is what I catch:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-5.png

Not fast enough and not bulky enough at the same time. Magmortar is a hard to use Mon, but at least it has both power and good coverage.

Back to Nimbasa City again, I find the train station and try to go to Aspertia City:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-6.png

Unfortunately, I can,t go there yet:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-7.png

On the street I am informed that there is no Gym anymore in this city:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-8.png

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-9.png

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-10.png

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-11.png

...repair.

I still try to enter the Park, but a Plasma Grunt doesn,t let me:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-12.png

...dangerous?

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-13.png

I can,t fight him. So, I go to Route 5 and explore it. In this caravan a man gives berries every day:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-14.png

I beat all the trainers in Route 5, including Heartbreaker Charles, who gives me Dawn Stone. He was stronger than other trainers, having a Koffing, Ferroseed and Swoobat, but Amphy was better.

I arrive to Driftveil Drawbridge, but can,t cross:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-15.png

...raised right now.

He would normally call and ask the bridge to be lowered, but the attendant of the Driftveil City isn,t answering calls. My theory is some kind of coup by Team Plasma.

So, if I can,t go through the Drawbridge and can,t go to the Amusement Park either, the only possible way is Route 4. But Route 4 actually has 2 outs, one to Castelia City and the other one leads to Desert Resort. I go there first.

At the beginning of Desert Resort I defeat a Nurse, so now I have someone who can heal my team.
At Desert Resort I can catch 2 different ground types that according to Pokedex often work together. One is Sandile and the other...

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-17.png

Flygon is a good Mon and Trapinch already starts with good moves... but getting to Flygon is incredibly hard due to both low Speed and Defenses. This is a common issue with many available for me Mons.

Trainers at Desert Resort are not so easy to battle against, since their Mons tend to be immune to Sandstorm, while mine are not. First comes a Pokemon Ranger that smartly orders his Dwebble to use Sand Attack vs Etarra, avoiding Rock Tomb this way. Fortunately, Etarra has Vital Throw, which doesn,t miss and defeats Dwebble in 3 hits. A Trapinch comes and uses Dig for more Sandstorm damage. So, I send Sally to finish the battle.
Hex Maniac leads with Baltoy. Sally defeats it, but then Yamask does way too much with Night Shade. Uso Zuria ends up winning, but not before being burned, so I have to go back to the nurse for a heal.
Backpacker tries the Smokescreen strategy vs Etarra, but Vital Throw obliterates both Magby and Elekid.

I find the remnants of Relic Castle:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-18.png

The guy seen on screen gives me Soft Sand, which I give to Vibracio.

A Backpacker leads with a Sandile, beaten by Sally. Maractus is much stronger, but not a problem for Uso Zuria.
Pokemon Ranger has her Numel destroyed by HP Water Mitosis, but Gligar comes close to killing Mitosis with Fury Cutter. Uso Zuria finishes this battle.
A Youngster that before the battle told me that he wants to be a bad dude has a bad Darumaka killed by Vibracio.
Lass has her Cleffa and Audino beaten by Vibracio too.

Turns out, part of Relic Castle is still accessible:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-19.png

I will explore it in the next chapter, however. Finishing this one here. Current team:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-20.png

Chapter 6. Hunting the bugs.

I train in Relic Castle a little. Mitosis learns Recover and Vibracio becomes better:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-0.png

I start exploring the place and fall down in a hole, right to face a Psychic. His only Pokemon is a level 23 Sigilyph. Sally escapes from it, but Mitosis takes a powerful Air Cutter. Amphy takes the next one and paralyzes the bird before being blown away with Whirlwind, Sally is dragged out. I send Amphy back and Sigilyph doesn,t get to move again.
Another Psychic has his Gothita and Solosis defeated by Mitosis.
Third and probably last Psychic protects a TM. Sally easily defeats Baltoy and Kirlia. TM turns out to be Dig. Vibracio can,t learn it, but Etarra can.

Deep down in the castle, there are 2 fossils:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-1.png

The other fossil dissapears. Archeops loses Roost in this game, but also Defeatist. Without Defeatist, Archeops is actually a very strong Pokemon, both in power and coverage. Unfortunately, I can't use it in this challenge.

There is nothing more to do in Relic Castle, so I continue my journey in Route 4. Trainers are easy there at this point and a guy in a house gives me the Sandstorm TM.

I eventually finish Route 4 and enter Castelia City. On the entrance, a Profesor Bianca's Aide gives me Itemfinder, so when I get Fly I will be visiting some previous places.
The actual Professor calls me soon:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-2.png

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-3.png

...Castelia City!

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-4.png

...Nuvema Town, where my Lab is.

However, I can,t go there yet, since apparently Skyarrow Bridge is down too. Every Bridge in this game looks to be down. Bianca tells me that she has a gift for me and has a friend in Castelia City before finishing the call.

So, time to explore the city. In a house, a girl wants a Maractus and trades Sawk for it. Neither Pokemon is allowed for me and I wouldn,t trade something as cute as Maractus for something as ugly as Sawk anyway.
In another house, another girl wants Maractus too, offering Throh instead. Same story here.

I arrive to a square from which 4 streets separate. I visit Castelia Street first. There is a massage parlor there:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-5.png

...parlor!

Even though its my least favorite Pokemon of the team, I give Uso Zuria a massage, since its likely to learn Return at some point.

I then visit Game Freak HQ. There is only one man there, giving hints about another game I played:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-6.png

...now.

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-7.png

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-8.png

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-9.png

I arrive at the port and Pokemon Center, where I heal the team. I see the entrance to Castelia Sewers, but can,t go there yet due to needing Surf:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-10.png

A sailor wants a Heart Scale and when I give it, I receive Mystic Water, which I give to Vibracio.

I visit the Battle Company, whose president tells me that if I get a third badge, he will give me something to test.
I find Coin Case. This means there is a Casino somewhere in this city. Well, its not a Casino, but close enough:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-11.png

I check for the prizes. There are 4 Pokemon I can buy: Axew, Beldum, Litwick and...

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-12.png

Clefable is a Pokemon that needs some work in order to be powerful. It learns Moonlight and Recover... at level 43 and 55... as Clefairy. It also learns Moonblast at level 46 as Clefairy only. Calm Mind (level 34) and Draining Kiss (level 19) give it enough tools to survive, but its still a tough journey. For now, Fabiole goes to the PC.

Castelia Game Plaza has several floors. I can,t visit the last of them:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-13.png

...for residents only.

In the last allowed floor a girl gives me Attract TM. And I also meet Amanita:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-14.png

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-15.png

...Mon storage here in Unova!

Could it be...?

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-21.png

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-22.png

Please, be the Mon I think you are!

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-23.png

...with a trainer!

Ok, let's see who it is...

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-24.png

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-25.png

FUUUUCK, I expected an Eevee! :changry: Dewott (and Hisuian Samurott, but he is not present) is the only good looking member of this Pokemon line. Its not a bad Mon, but I expected Eevee. To the PC it goes.

I go to the Mode Street, where I get a Bike:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-26.png

I also buy some iconic Casteliacones:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-27.png

Next street is the Narrow Alley, where I find a drunk sleeping guy:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-28.png

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-29.png

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-30.png

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-31.png

Ok, now we are truly prepared for anything. This is the best TM in the game for Nuzlockes. I teach the TM to Amphy and Etarra for now.

Last street is the Gym Street and it only has the Gym, as the name says. I start beating the clowns there. Etarra sweeps vs the first one, who has Sewaddle, Venipede and Swadlon. After the battle:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-32.png

Second Harlequin's Joltik and Yanma meet the same fate.
Third clown uses a Pinsir. Despite being fully evolved, its not a problem for Uso Zuria.
Uso Zuria almost dies vs 4th clown, not being able to OHKO a Heracross, who retaliates with Vital Throw. Cross then uses Machp Punch and crits, but I have switched Vibracio in by then. I have to check that Heracross doesn,t have Bug moves at level 24 before sending Mitosis to finish it.
Last clown has Karrablast, Durant and Shelmet, Uso Zuria beats all of them.

Time to face Burgh in a very colorful room:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-33.png

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-34.png

Still 3 Mons? Should be easy this time. When I see that lead Yanma is level 25 (none of my Mons surpass that level), I do get a little scared though. Yanma uses Air Cutter and gets crit by Vibracio's Bubblebeam, surviving in red.
Yanma uses Air Cutter, Vibracio heals with Recover.
Yanma uses Air Cutter again, Vibracio heals back to full.
Yanma crits with Air Cutter before dying:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-35.png

Just like I planned, Burgh sends his ace Leavanny next. Its a dangerous foe, at level 28. I send Uso Zuria, getting a Razor Leaf crit.

Evil Burgh plays smartly and switches out Leavanny, sending Dwebble, who loses less than half from Air Cutter.

I switch Etarra in, getting a speed drop from Rock Tomb.
Dwebble uses Curse and gets hit by Rock Tomb, healing a little with Oran Berry.
Etarra finishes Dwebble and grows to level 26:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-36.png

Leavanny comes out again for a final battle. It uses Double Team, but gets hit by Etarra's Rock Tomb.
Leavanny crits with Razor Leaf and avoids Rock Tomb at the same time.

I switch Uso Zuria in, avoiding Razor Leaf.
Despite the Evasion boost, Uso Zuria hits Air Cutter and wins the battle:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-37.png

I get the badge and the Struggle Bug TM. Despite being underleveled this time, Burgh's Gym has been the easiest so far:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-38.png

Finishing the chapter here.

Chapter 7. Ruins of a Gym.

When I leave Castelia Gym, the Zinnia theme starts playing and a new character appears:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-0.png

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-1.png

...the Prof.

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-2.png

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-3.png

...be Team Plasma.

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-4.png

I get Cheren's number. Cheren asks me to go to Nimbasa City, where Team Plasma has been seen at the Park.

Before doing so, I visit Battle Company. Since I now have 3 badges, the President gives me a Exp. Share.

In Nimbasa City, before going to the Park, I visit the TM Shop and buy Reflect TM.

Then, I go to the Park, where I see Cheren beating a grunt:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-5.png

...better go warn the others!

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-6.png

...Plasma been hiding here.

Cheren goes to investigate to the right side and tells me to go the other way. I of course follow Cheren instead, searching for several interesting items, like Air Balloon.

I find the old Gym:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-8.png

Inside almost everything is broken:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-9.png

In the middle of the only possible way, a hidden Plasma Grunt takes me by surprise:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-10.png

...I've been training it since!

The grunt leads with Patrat that uses Crunch on Mitosis:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-11.png

RIP Mitosis. This grunt actually trained his Mons.

Etarra comes in and OHKOs Patrat and Zubat.

Now I need to pick another Mon from the PC. I choose Shadow (Gothita), one of the only 2 Fight resists and only Psychic resist too.

After training Shadow, I go back to the abandoned Gym, where the next Plasma Grunt also appears without me expecting him:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-12.png

They really have good camuflage in this building. This grunt leads with Solosis. Shadow easily defeats it with Hex. Woobat with Pursuit comes next and does a lot of damage before falling. Fortunately, last Purloin doesn,t use Pursuit, but instead he steals the Quick Claw from Etarra:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-13.png

Purloin tries to hax with Swagger, but is killed the same turn. Quick Claw is returned to me after the battle.

Next Grunt only has a Pawniard, fortunately without Pursuit. Etarra OHKOs Pawn.

I find a button to click and something changes in the maze:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-14.png

Another Grunt challenges me. Her Drifloon is beaten by Amphy, who learns Shock Wave after that. Zubat confuses Amphy, so Shadow has to kill both it and a Pursuit using Woobat.
Next Grunt leads with another Dark type that doesn,t have Pursuit, a Houndour. Vibracio defeats both it and a Gastly.

Fitting for the situation, I find the Thief TM. I teach it to Uso Zuria. Shadow could learn it too, but she is a Special Attacker.
There is a Gothita duel in the next battle. However, only Shadow has Hex, so its easy to win. Vibracio deals with Litwick.

When I am about to click another button, another Grunt just jumps from the Roller Coaster:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-15.png

...have good Pokemon. Let me see!

Seriously, if these guys practiced battling just as well as hiding, they would be unbeatable. The Trubbish of this Grunt falls to Shadow, but then a Solosis crits twice with Hidden Power while Shadow is resting. So, I send Sally, who beats Solosis, but not before being Charmed. Sally was never battling a Koffing anyway, Vibracio finishes the battle.

I click the button and destroy something far away:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-16.png

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-17.png

....the track.

However, I can,t find any new place in this Gym. So, I leave it and search through the Park until I find another building:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-18.png

Turns out, its the second part of the Gym:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-19.png

Shadow OHKOs a Grunt's Croagunk with Psybeam, then forgets the move to learn Psyshock. Scraggy comes but is Draining Kissed to death.
Next Grunt has Magnemite and Houndour. Vibracio has the right typing vs both.
Same thing happens vs the next one's Gaslt, Drifloon and Numel.

I arrive to the end of the building, where I meet Cheren:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-20.png

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-21.png

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-22.png

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-23.png

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-24.png

...them.

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-25.png

...area for now.

So, I missed something? There must some other way in the first building. I eventually find a third button I somehow missed until now.
After I push the button, Cheren calls me by phone:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-26.png

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-27.png

Cheren tells me that a secret staircase just opened in his building.

I go to the secret area, but instead of finding Cheren, Infer appears:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-28.png

....here?

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-29.png

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-33.png

...improved.

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-34.png

Infer leads with Litwick, not a good match-up for Sally. I send Vibracio, who gets burned by Lava Plume.
Vibracio OHKOs Litwick:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-35.png

Shiny Kirlia comes next. I switch Shadow in, but Kirlia boosts with Calm Mind.
Shadow ignores the CM boost with a crit Hex:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-36.png

Pignite comes in. It hits hard with Double Kick, but also takes a lot for Psyshock.
Pignite decides to revenge the Kirlia with a Fire Punch crit:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-37.png

RIP Shadow.
Didn,t last long.

Uso Zuria crits without need with Air Cutter:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-38.png

Last is Riolu. It lives an Air Cutter and gets to use Double Kick.
Quick Attack finishes the battle:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-39.png

Infer escapes, not before telling me again not to mess around with Team Plasma. This time she managed to kill a Mon of my team:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-41.png

Despite being quite hard to train, I choose Fabiole (Clefairy) as replacement for Shadow.

After training Fabiole, I enter the final room of this Gym/Plasma Hideout. I see a confrontation between Cheren a Sage:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-42.png

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-43.png

...too late.

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-44.png

...generator.

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-46.png

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-47.png

When I try to step further, the grunt protects the Sage:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-48.png

Cheren challenges the Grunt, I face Giallo.

...Plasma?

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-53.png

Giallo leads with Joltik. It uses Thunder Fang on Fabiole and flinches her.

Vibracio however is immune to the move.
Vibracio uses Bubblebeam and takes Bug Bite.
Next Bubblebeam kills the bug:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-54.png

Giallo sends an Emolga with a very weird sprite. It uses Double Team while Vibracio heals with Recover.
Emolga uses Double Team again and takes Bubblebeam.
Emolga flinches Vibracio with Air Slash, doing a lot of damage.

I switch Amphy in, taking another Air Slash.
Emolga uses Air Slash again, Amphy attacks with Shock Wave.
Emolga uses Air Slash. Amphy heals with Rest.
3 Air Slashes later, Amphy uses Rest again.
Another 3 Air Slashes later, Amphy heals again.
The cycle repeats again.
Emolga uses 2 more Air Slashes and then starts using Acrobatics.
Acrobatics actually does more than Air Slash and doesn,t miss, however Emolga gives Amphy breathing room when it uses Double Team once. When Amphy wakes up, Emolga barely survives Shock Wave.
Emolga uses one last Acrobatics and leaves Amphy in red before falling to Shock Wave:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-55.png

Last is a level 30 Flaaffy. Amphy unforunately is too weak to face it. I switch Etarra into Power Gem.

I then switch Vibracio in while Flaaffy uses Curse.
Vibracio uses Mud Shot. Flaaffy boosts again.
Vibracio uses Mud Shot, Flaaffy boosts again despite being in red.
Giallo tries to heal Flaaffy with Super Potion, but loses almost all the health again.
Vibracio finishes the battle:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-57.png

...we came for.

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-58.png

They escape. Cheren and me go outside.

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-59.png

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-60.png

...something big...

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-61.png

...home, to Aspertia City.

Cheren gives me the Rail Pass, so I can go to Aspertia City too. After that, he leaves.

Before finishing the chapter, I will show how the team survived vs Giallo, that Emolga was very dangerous:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-62.png

Chapter 8. A toxic melody.

Since my only option is going to Aspertia City, I do it. Its the city with the best theme from Unova, so thats cool.
I explore the city and get the Return TM in one house after showing Sally to a woman. I teach it to Uso Zuria.
In another house there is the Move Deleter. I make Sally forget Cut and teach her Return.

There is a Gym, but no leader:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-0.png

In another house I get the Focus Band.
In a small hill I get another haxy item, Scope Lens.

Since I don,t find Cheren, I go to Route 19. There is only 1 Pokemon I can catch there:

ç

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-1.png

There is no Huge Power in this game... So Azumarill has to stick with 50 base attacking Stats. However, Water-Fairy is one of the best defensive typings in the game and Azumarill learns Moonlight this time. This means AzulMarina can be a Stalling machine, slowly killing opponents she walls.

After a short training, I beat every trainer of Route 19. One notable thing that happens is Vibracio learning Scald. He is becoming more and more broken.

At the end of the route, I see a misterious character at the top of a hill:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-2.png

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-3.png

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-4.png

Juniper tells me about how she gave Cheren and Bianca their first Pokemon.

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-5.png

...about you.

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-6.png

...Virbank City.

Cheren thinks Team Plasma is there and wants me to follow him. After telling me that, Juniper leaves and I arrive to Floccesy Town.

I explore the town. A girl in a house gives me a Pink Bow, which in this game boosts Fairy type moves. So, I give it to Fabiole.
In another house a girl wants a Corsola and offers a Beldum. Unfortunately, I can,t get a Corsola under my rules, but Beldum appears wild later in the game.

Turns out, Alder lives in this town, though he is not here at the moment:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-7.png

With nothing more to do in this town, I go to Route 20. There are some interesting Mons there, like Ducklett, Skorupi and Emolga, but unfortunately nothing I can catch.
Trainers are surprisingly hard to beat. First one is a School Kid with Eevee and Umbreon, Etarra beats both, but struggles due to Confuse Ray.
Second is another School Kid with Eevee and Flareon. Eevee is beaten by Etarra again, but Flareon damages Vibracio a lot before falling.
Twins lead with Eevee too. Etarra once again defeats it and then also an Acid Armor Vaporeon, surviving only at 10 HP.

Route 20 leads to 2 different places. One of them is Flocessy Ranch. There are Elekid and Eevee here to catch. However, Elekid is available in another route later, while Eevee is not. This means I decide to not risk Elekid appearing first and leave Flocessy Ranch's catch for later.

At the ranch, an identical situation to Johto's Moo-Moo Farm happens:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-8.png

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-9.png

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-10.png

I give my only Oran Berry to the Flaaffy. Will return later with more.

Back at Route 20 I fight another School Kid and Etarra defeats his Eevee and Glaceon.
Next School Kid has another Eevee for Etarra to beat. But SD + Razor Leaf Leafeon is a much tougher foe:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-11.png

RIP Uso Zuria. Hopefully the rest of my team starts evolving soon, NFEs at this point are starting to become weak.

Etarra comes in, but Leafeon uses Giga Drain, avoiding death from Double Kick this way. Sally finishes the battle with Body Slam (which has replaced Return).

I put Big Mag (Magby) into the team and train him. After that, I go back to Route 20, where there are still some trainers with Eeveelutions. Vs the next one, Etarra once again beats the Eevee, Vibracio fully walls Jolteon.

2 trainers remain. Vs the next one, I decide to not use Etarra, since both remaining Eeveelutions threaten him a lot. Big Mag handles the Eevee and then an Espeon comes out. I risk Big Mag's life staying, fortunately Espeon uses Swift, taking powerful Faint Attack back. I then send Fabiole, but Extrasensory does too much. Amphy also takes a lot from Psybeam. Sally is luckier, Espeon uses Psych Up. After taking Swift, Sally uses Leech Seed. Sally takes another Swift and uses Body Slam. Vibracio takes Psybeam and Espeon finally dies from Leech Seed. This was a very scary battle.

Etarra once again kills the Eevee of the last trainer. Sylveon is not as dangerous as Espeon, so I can afford switching Big Mag in. Big Mag resists Fairy and has Sludge to beat Sylveon.

I arrive to Virbank City and start exploring it. I quickly find a Game Corner and check the prices:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-12.png

Shell Stone is a new item that makes Karrablast and Shelmet evolve. Both Mons evolutions are decent Mons for Nuzlockes, one has enormous bulk and power, the other has high Speed and Recover. Accelgor also learns Aura Sphere in this game. Unfortunately I can use neither Accelgor nor Escavalier.

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-13.png

This is much more interesting. Cryogonal is another powerful Mon I can,t use, but the other 2 are options. I check and see that both can be caught later, but Deino is rarer. Right now I don,t have the money for it, though.
Outside of Game Corner, I find an useful item, but not for my current team:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-14.png

A fisherman gives me the Good Rod.
In a house, a guy gives me Poison Barb.

I visit Virbak Complex, where I have a guaranted encounter:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-15.png

Steel type is always solid to have. Magnezone is bulky and powerful at the same time. The movepool consists of just STABs and Tri Attack, but its enough to work.

After a short training, I explore Virbank Complex and find a Ferry Ticket. I can now go to Castelia City from Virbank.

I start facing trainers that support Team Plasma:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-16.png

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-17.png

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-18.png

Never mind, he is actually a Grunt, just with another overword sprite. Big Mag kills his Solosis and learns Fire Punch. The Grunt then sends a Duosion, which is big threat. I switch Fabiole and have it almost murdered by Psyshock, since Duosion has 125 Special Attack, the same as Reuniclus.:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-19.png

Vibracio comes in, avoiding Psyshock. He uses Scald and gets a crit, saving me from that broken monster.

The second Plasma Grunt is also disguised:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-21.png

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-22.png

His Zubat poisons Fabiole vs Poison Fang, living Extrasensory. Amphy is also poisoned but kills the Bat. Level 32 Pawniard comes, so I switch in my level 34 Etarra, only Mon that looks overleveled in this battle. He wins.

I think I am actually quite underleveled for this challenge, these Plasma Grunts are giving me real troubles. So, instead of storming the Complex, I decide to go to Virbak Gym first.
First Musicial of the Gym leads with Koffing. Despite the type disadvantage, Fabiole knows Extrasensory, with which she OHKOs the Smogon Mon, although getting an Acid crit in the process. Trubbish is killed by Vibracio.

After the first trainer, rest of the Gym looks like a Team Rocket hideout:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-23.png

Second musician is tougher. His Zubat poisons both Fabiole and Amphy with Poison Fang. Amphy is also confused by Confuse Ray and can,t move twice. Big Mag ends up beating the Zubat, then Vibracio kills Croagunk, but not before it gets to use Swagger. This means, that a second Zubat sees how Vibracio damages himself and also crits with Air Cutter. Big Mag kills this second Zubat too, but not before being critted by Air Cutter. This is how my team ends after a random musician:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-24.png

A Guitarist has just a level 31 Whirlipede. After a close battle, Amphy wins and learns Confuse Ray. Right now, Amphy just has Shock Wave as attacking move.
Another Guitarist has Venipede and Skorupi, Amphy easily wins vs both.

Time to face Roxie:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-25.png

Roxie leads with Croagunk, who uses Toxic on Amphy before being paralyzed.

I bravely switch Fabiole into Drain Punch.
Fabiole OHKOs Croagunk with Extrasensory.

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-26.png

Golbat is next. I switch Vibracio in, getting poisoned by Poison Fang.
Golbat uses Wing Attack and gets hit by Scald.
Unfortunately I need to sack Vibracio here, my level disadvantage is high and there in an unrevealed ace still. Golbat uses Wing Attack, which Vibracio survives and launches a powerful crit Scald before dying to poison:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-27.png

RIP Vibracio.
Right before being an invicible Seismitoad...

I send Big Mag while Golbat heals with Oran Berry. Golbat uses Wing Attack and dies to Fire Punch:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-28.png

Last Pokemon is a monster. A level 36 Scolipede. How the hell can I win vs that? I check that wild Magmars are available in the future and let Big Mag die from Bulldoze:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-29.png

RIP Big Mag. This was 100% needed.

I send Amphy, who floats with Air Balloon. Scolipede chokes and uses Bulldoze anyway, being paralyzed by Thunder Wave.

I switch Etarra, my strongest warrior, in, getting hit by Bulldoze.
Etarra flinches Scolipede with Rock Slide. However, Scolipede heals with Sitrus Berry.
Etarra crits the next Rock Slide and the battle ends right there:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-30.png

But that's not all, since Amphy grows to level 30:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-31.png

I get the badge and the Venoshock TM.

Overall, the battle was quite a disaster, my team is becoming underleveled. This is how my team survived vs Roxie:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-32.png

Chapter 9. Complex assault.

I choose Vydra (Oshawott) and Mosqueton (Trapinch) as the replacements for the fallen Mons and train them:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-0.png

After the training, I go to Virbank Complex again. My team is still underleveled, but not as much as it used to.

I find a lift, but:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-1.png

Another disguised Grunt attacks me. Trubbish is beaten by Mosqueton. I fear Koffing's Self Destruct, so Amphy beats it. Gothita gets to confuse Amphy with Swagger, which means that Sally has to finish the battle.

I then find Cheren:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-2.png

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-3.png

...Complex.

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-4.png

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-5.png

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-7.png

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-8.png

Cheren of course gives the key to many and wants to explore some other are instead of going to the lift.

I go the lift and visit B1F floor. There is a locked door and a scientist that protects an item. I face her Ditto with Sally, who gets Leech Seed before Ditto can Transform. Ditto manages to paralyze Sally first with Body Slam, but due to Leech Seed, Sally still wins. This is the item I get:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-9.png

Etarra is my most physically bulky Mon, so I give Rocky Helmet to him.

I then go back to the lift and drop to B2F. When I explore it, I step on some trap:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-10.png

Its actually not a trap, it just changes the way of the bridge:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-11.png

I face another Scientist. Sally uses Leech Seed on her Klink, but gets trapped with Wrap. Klink does have Gear Grind and even manages to crit Sally once before being crit in return by Razor Leaf, dying this way. I send Vydra vs Vanillite, but get a Swagger before being able to kill it. Fabiole gets a Mirror Shot in the face on switch in, but still wins vs the ice cone. Last is a Solosis that almost kills Fabiole with Psyshock, but 2 uses of Hex are enough for it.

A very evil Grunt that thinks about Pokemon as mere pawns, leads with Woobat. Amphy easily defeats it, Zubat and a CM Swoobat.
Another Scientist has his Magnemite murdered by Mosqueton and his Klink by Vydra.
Last Grunt of this floor leads with Scraggy, easily defeated by Sally. Watchog is scarier, but all it does is Disable and Focus Energy before being destroyed by Etarra.

I find stairs that lead to the part of B1F that I couldn,t access before. There I find Cheren and some Plasma dudes:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-12.png

...Plasma leader!

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-13.png

...frome the boiler!

...ours!

...pest.

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-21.png

...Team Plasma!

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-22.png

Bronius leads with Vulpix. Certainly not a good match-up for Sally, so I send Vydra into Fire Fang.
Vulpix misses Will-o-Wisp and dies from Bubblebeam.

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-23.png

Heatmor is next. It uses Hone Claws, surviving Bubblebeam.
Heatmor uses +1 Slash and dies from Bubblebeam:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-24.png

Level 36 Magmar is last. It uses Sunny Day while I switch Amphy in. I am in big trouble.
Instead of attacking, Magmar uses Confuse Ray, preventing Thunder Wave this way.
Magmar uses Lava Plume, leaving Ampharos in red and burned. However, its paralyzed:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-25.png

I switch Fabiole into the next Lava Plume:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-26.png

RIP Fabiole.
Only way to avoid this death was risking confusion with Amphy and using Rest.

I send Etarra. He uses Dig to finish Sun, but also crits with it:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-27.png

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-28.png

...complete.

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-29.png

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-30.png

They dissapear.

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-31.png

...again...

Cheren thanks me for the help and gives the Fly HM. After that, Cheren goes to Aspertia City, where he is the Gym leader.
Battle vs Bronius was hard, my unevolved Mons are really starting to look weak:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-32.png

When I get out of the Complex, Bianca calls me.

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-33.png

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-34.png

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-35.png

This means I can visit her to get a gift. First comes the task of training a new Mon. I have literally 2 options at the PC, so I take AzulMarina (Marill) and train her.

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-36.png

After the training, I go to Skyarrow Bridge. After I cross it, I get to Pinwheel Forest. There, I can catch one Mon:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-37.png

Roserade is a very powerful Mon, but has the same problem as the deceased Fabiole, needing to get to level 43 as Roselia to learn Synthesis. At least, starting moves are already good enough.

And I think this is a good moment to finish the chapter. Current team after some training:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-38.png

Chapter 10. Long way to Striaton.

I explore Pinewheel Forest, beating the trainers. One Lass surprises me a lot. After Mosqueton beats Petilil and Sally eliminates Cottonee, she sends a Tropius. On switch-in to Amphy, Tropius uses Belly Drum. Amphy paralyzes it, but barely survives +6 Seed Bomb:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-0.png

Fortunately the AI chokes and on switch-in to Etarra, Tropius uses Magical Leaf. One Rock Slide is enough to be saved.

In the middle of the forest I unexpectedly face Infer:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-1.png

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-2.png

...right now.

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-3.png

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-4.png

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-5.png

I don,t understand this part, it hasn,t been mentioned anywhere.

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-6.png

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-7.png

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-8.png

Infer leads with Gligar. It uses Magnitude but only 5 one is triggered. Vydra damages Gligar hard with Bubblebeam.
Acrobatics does way more damage but Gligar falls:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-9.png

Shiny Kirlia is next. I switch Amphy into Psychic.
Amphy uses Thunder Wave and Kirlia can,t move.
Amphy uses Confuse Ray and Kirlia damages itself.
Amphy uses Shock Wave. Kirlia survives in red but uses Calm Mind.
Kirlia dies next turn:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-10.png

Infer sends Litwick. Amphy uses Shock Wave and takes Lava Plume.
Amphy finishes Litwick:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-11.png

A real threat comes now, a Lucario. It uses Mach Punch while I switch Azul Marina in.
Lucario uses Bulk Up. Azul Marina digs and does almost no damage.
Lucario uses Metal Claw, taking Bubblebeam.
Lucario uses Bulk Up again while Azul Marina heals with Moonlight.
Lucario boosts again, taking a Bubblebeam that drops his speed.
Lucario uses Metal Claw, doing a lot of damage and surviving another Bubblebeam.

I don,t want to lose Azul Marina and her wonderful typing. So I sack Vydra:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-12.png

RIP Vydra. No Samurott for me in this game.

I send Etarra. He survives Metal Claw and finishes Lucario with Double Kick.
Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-13.png

Fortunately for me, Pignite is still Pignite, not Emboar. The bad new is that it uses Sunny Day on Dig turn, surviving the Dig.
Right now, Pignite OHKOs all my team and probably outspeeds all of it except Sally, who probably can,t OHKO with Body Slam yet. So, unfortunately, this is the end of Etarra...

The battle ends in a very unexpected way. Pignite uses Double Kick, dying to Rocky Helmet. Etarra survives:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-14.png

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-15.png

...keep losing?

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-16.png

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-17.png

Infer escapes. I barely survived this battle:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-18.png

I pick Rosellon (Roselia) from the PC, given that I only had 2 options anyway. I train Rosellon and continue exploring the forest.

I understand what Infer said about a Robbery when I try to pick another way in the forest:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-19.png

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-20.png

Still exploring the forest, I find Silverpowder. I don,t have Bugs, however. I also find Big Root. In theory, Rosellon could use this item, but Black Sludge is much better.

I eventually finish the Pinwheel Forest and exit it on Nacrene Outskirts, which in this game have the BW Route 10 theme, which is a good one.
I can't catch Pokemon in this area, the only possible ones were Timburr, Gurdurr and Palpitoad. I do train my team a little however.

After that, I enter Nacrene City. On the entrance, a new character aproaches me:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-21.png

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-22.png

...are you?

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-23.png

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-24.png

...stolen.

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-25.png

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-26.png

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-27.png

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-28.png

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-29.png

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-30.png

...anything.

Lenora goes back to her Museum. I heal my team and go back to Nacrene Outskirts to beat the trainers there. I do that succesfully and also find a PP Max.

Time to explore Nacrene City. In a house I get a Charcoal.
At the museum I am told that Lenora took a break from being a Gym Leader, so there is no Gym Leader in this city.

And that's it, nothing is left to do in Nacrene City. I continue my way to Route 3. There, I can catch exactly one Mon:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-31.png

Many Pokemon have been improved through Movepool in this game, but Wigglytuff is not one of them. Despite evolving with Moon Stone, Wiggly still doesn,t learn Moonblast. Play Rough is learned at level 35 as Jigglypuff only (that probably won,t be a problem, since almost all my team already reached that level). Wigglytuff really can,t catch a break.

I train my team at Route 3. Mosqueton finally reaches level 35:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-32.png

Meanwhile, Sally grows to level 36:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-33.png

Now I can do some real business. I teach Rest and Fly to Mosquetona.

I then Fly to several locations of the region and collect Oran Berries. In Aspertia City I visit the Move Deleter and make Rosellon forget Cut (he had to learn it to pick an item in Pinwheel Forest), learning Rest again.
In Floccesy Ranch I heal Woolie with the Oran Berries and get given this item:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-34.png

This item makes Eevee evolve into Sylveon.

Finally, in Virbank City I spend 100 K at Game Corner to buy...

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-35.png

Hydreigon is a very good Pokemon. Of course, the drawback is getting to level 64 for it (and 50 for Zweillous), so for now, Lernean stays at the PC.

I then continue my way on Route 3. Random artist there says inspiring words after being defeated by Sally:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-37.png

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-38.png

Day-Care is at this route, but I don,t want to use it.

I enter Wellspring Cave, where a total of 3 Pokemon can be caught: Vanillite, Golbat and...

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-39.png

Mamoswine is a good Mon and easy to get, since Swinub evolves at level 33 and then with an Ice Stone. Both Icicle Crash and Ice Shard are moves that are present in this game, while Levitate is not, Water-Bug and Ice-Bug Mons don,t exist either. This means, Mamoswine has an unwallable STAB combo.

I explore the small part of Wellspring Cave that I can access without Surf, but only get an Escape Rope and an Ice Stone. I also beat a Blackbelt that has Meditite and Riolu, easy preys for Fly Mosqueton.

Back to Route 3, I finish it and arrive to Striaton City.
I explore this city. In a house a woman wants a Tropius and offers a Pawniard. Pawniard is allowed for me, but Tropius is not.

I visit Doctor Fennel and she gives me a Metal Coat.

Striaton City has a Grass type Gym, with Cilan as the leader. First trainer at the Gym has Shroomish and Foonguss defeated by Sally, who also paralyzes Breloom, who gets beaten by Azul Marina.
The Deerling and Maractus of second trainer can,t beat Sally.
Sally also defeats the Petilil of the third trainer. Mosqueton however misses Fly vs Roselia and ends up heavily damaged. Rosellon ends up winning the Roselia duel. Cottonee has no chance vs Rosellon either.

Next waitress leads with Ferroseed. Etarra wins vs it and Servine. This waitress gives me a Lemonade after the battle.
Sally paralyzes the Tropius of the next trainer and Amphy defeats it with Power Gem.

That trainer was the last one, but after seeing the levels of the trainers, I decide to not fight Cilan yet, I might be very underleveled for him.

Instead, I go to Dreamyard. There, I can catch a Pokemon:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-40.png

Already had a Zubat in the past, but it died without evolving. I decide to put Mr. Vampiro in the team and remove Rosellon, for type diversity.

I train Mr. Vampiro until he reaches the rest of the team in level and finish this long chapter here. Current team:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-41.png

Chapter 11. The grass eater.

After training Mr. Vampiro, I continue my way. Since Strength is required to fully explore Dreamyard, I go to Route 2 instead. I can,t catch any Mon here, but I can defeat all the trainers and pick the Double Team TM.

After Route 2, there is the legendary Accumula Town:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-0.png

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-2.png

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-3.png

He knows!

I explore the town. In one house, a girl wants a Skarmory and offers a Larvitar. Unfortunately I can,t catch Skarmory.
In another house, 3 girls are thirsty. One asks Lemonade, another Soda Pop and the last one Fresh Water. I only have Lemonade and am given a Leaf Stone. I figure out the other 2 rewards are similar.

There is a Pokeball Maniac in one house. He gives random Pokeballs each day. I collect Timer Balls today.

I see a Team Plasma guy blocked by some peasants:

Ryoku leads with Roselia. Mr. Vampiro uses Fly and OHKOs it:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-14.png

Tropius is next. Mr. Vampiro crits with Poison Fang, preventing Belly Drum this way.
Mr. Vampiro finishes Tropius:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-15.png

Last is Amoonguss. Mr. Vampiro uses Fly and takes Sludge Bomb.
Ryoku heals Amoonguss, who takes another Fly and uses Sludge Bomb again.
Mr. Vampiro finishes the battle:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-16.png

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-17.png

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-18.png

Ryoku escapes. This battle was very easy due to Mr. Vampiro having an amazing match-up.

I fly to Nacrene City and give the Data Disk to Lenora. I now can use the fossil reviving machine and revive Archen to see if its Shiny. Unfortunately its not.

I fly back to Accumula Town and go to Route 1. Its another Route without wild Mons to catch for me. I do defeat the trainers, gaining money and experience.

I finally arrive to Nuvema Town. In the house of the original BW protagonist, his mom gives me the Hidden Power TM. I Amphy the move and check the type on Route 1 Pokemon.
Vs Tranquil: Neutral.
Vs Ferroseed: Neutral.
No point in using it vs Watchog.
Vs Tropius: Effective. So, its Flying. Might be useful vs Cilan.

I enter Bianca's Lab, where Juniper also is:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-19.png

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-20.png

Juniper came here for a visit to talk about Team Plasma:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-23.png

Bianca then gives me her gift:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-25.png

I need Cilan's badge to use Surf outside of battle, though. Juniper goes to wait me on Route 17.

Exploring the lab I read an email to Bianca from Marlon:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-36.png

With nothing left to do, I go to challenge Cilan, my team leveled up a little.

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-37.png

Cilan leads with Sawsbuck. Sally paralyzes it and gets the Attack lowered by Charm.

I switch Etarra in, but Cilan predicts that and sends Whimsicott.

I then switch Mr. Vampiro in, while Whimsi uses Barrier.
Whimsicott uses Charm and gets poisoned by Poison Fang, but heals poison with Lum Berry.
Whimsi crits with Dazzling Gleam and gets poisoned again.
Mr. Vampiro finishes Whimsicott with Fly:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-38.png

Cilan sends a level 42 Roserade, which looks like the ace. Mr. Vampiro takes a Venoshock and uses Fly.
Mr. Vampiro takes another Venoshock and misses Fly.
Cilan heals Roserade while Mr. Vampiro uses Rest.
Roserade uses Venoshock 3 times and then survives -2 Fly.
Roserade uses Synthesis and avoids Fly again.
Roserade uses Venoshock and takes Fly.
Roserade uses Synthesis. Mr. Vampiro heals with Rest.
Roserade uses Venoshock 3 times, Mr. Vampiro wakes up and damages it with Fly.
Roserade heals again and so does Mr. Vampiro.
Roserade heals back to full.
Looks like there are no more Venoshock PPs, Roserade starts using Energy Ball. It does so twice before Mr. Vampiro wakes up and uses Fly.

I switch Sally in while Roserade heals.

I switch Mr. Vampiro back into Toxic.
Mr. Vampiro takes another Energy Ball and kills Roserade with Fly:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-39.png

Sawsbuck comes back. I switch Etarra in for free, since its paralyzed.
Etarra crits with Double Kick:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-40.png

Last is Lilligant. I switch Mr. Vampiro in while it uses Quiver Dance.
Lilligant uses Safeguard which saves her from the poison, but not from big Poison Fang damage.
Lilligant tries to boost again and the battle ends with another Poison Fang:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-41.png

I get the badge and the Energy Ball TM. Sally has more Special Attack than physical, so I teach this TM to her, no more Leaf Blade.

Just like vs Ryoku, Mr. Vampiro had an incredible match-up vs Grass types:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-42.png

Finishing the chapter here.

Chapter 12. Sailing across Unova.

I decide to challenge Cheren in Aspertia City before doing anything else.
First trainer in Cheren's Gym is swept by Sally, his Deerling, Jigglypuff and Watchog stand no chance.
Second trainer does more damage to Mosqueton than the first trainer does to Sally, but her Tranquil, Herdier and Audino are swept too.

There are no more trainer, only Cheren himself:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-0.png

Cheren is clearly weaker than Cilan in terms of level, his lead Watchog is only at 35. Sally uses Energy Ball while Watchog wastes the turn with Focus Energy.
Sally kills Watchog:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-1.png

Bouffalant is way more dangerous than a Watchog. Sally paralyzes it with Glare and is left in yellow after Megahorn:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-2.png

Etarra comes in, avoiding Megahorn.

Cheren withdraws Bouffalant and sends Wigglytuff, who eats Double Kick.

I switch Mr. Vampiro in, taking a crit Play Rough.
Mr. Vampiro kills Wiggly with Poison Fang:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-3.png

Bouffalant comes back. Mr. Vampiro uses Fly whilethe bull uses Focus Energy.
Mr. Vampiro uses Fly again and gets a powerful Giga Impact in return. Bouffalant recovers some health with Sitrus Berry.

Recharge turn means free switch-in for Etarra.
Etarra finishes Bouffalant with Double Kick:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-4.png

Level 40 Stoutland is Cheren's ace. It uses Hone Claws and takes a Double Kick, healing with Sitrus Berry.
Stoutland uses Hone Claws again, surviving like this:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-5.png

Cheren heals Stoutland, who takes another Double Kick.
No one on my team was surviving a +2 Giga Impact, Etarra was no exception here:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-6.png

RIP Etarra. Another Mon I lose very close to the evolution level.

I send Sally to finish the battle with 2 Energy Balls:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-7.png

I get the badge and the useless for me Giga Impact TM.

Etarra's lose is very important and painful, but someone was dying in this battle regardless of what I did:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-8.png

I pick Gran Bluff (Jigglypuff) from the PC as the new member of the team and train him.

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-9.png

After the training, I decide to explore all the Surf zone that are available to me now.

Sailing in Humilau City I get a Shell Bell and access to Route 21. First trainer there uses a level 43 Spheal and level 46 Sealeo, I clearly have no business exploring this route yet. However, there is a Mon here I can catch:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-10.png

Notice something? Yes, this line learns Scald in this game. I don,t need that move though, I need a Surf user. Walrein is bulky and unlike Azumarill, actually powerful. I replace Azul Marina for now in order to have type diversity.

After training Morz, I continue exploring water areas. The Giant Chasm has one. I arrive to the open air Giant Chasm area. This counts as a new area, so I can catch a Mon here. Unfortunately the Mon that appears has both a very low catch rate and a recoil move:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-11.png

No catch in outside Giant Chasm then.

I explore Giant Chasm, picking some items and beating some trainers. While doing so, I discover that Bouffalant learns Extreme Speed in this game and Eevee learns Belly Drum. There is also an area I can,t get to yet, due to needing Waterfall.

Surfing on Route 13 I just discover a Nugget.

Surfing on Route 14 I find the Bulk Up TM. Unfortunately, no one on my team learns it.

In Lostlorn Forest I find the Solarbeam TM. There are 50 TMs in this game and the majority of them are still bad.

In Castelia City I can surf to get to Castelia Sewers. Here, I can catch another Mon:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-12.png

Vanilluxe is bad. Has almost no defensive utility, though at least does hit hard. Mirror Coat might unironically be a good move on this Mon.

I explore Castelia Sewers, but not all area is accesible, there is a Strength rock (and a Plasma Grunt doing something on the other side):

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-13.png

I then fly to Aspertia City, where there is another Surf spot. I find Dream Eater TM there, another pretty useless one.

On Route 19 I find a Lure Ball, a Nugget and a Rare Candy.

On Route 20 I find a PP Max.

Virbank City has a hidden PP Up and a non hidden Rare Candy.

Route 3 has Ether Max and Rare Candy.

Wellspring Cave has quite a lot of items and even some trainers to defeat. Most important item is the Shadow Claw TM, an actually good one. Not for my current team though.

In Striaton City I find Big Pearl and PP Up.

Finally, on Route 1 I don,t find items but a path to solitary Route 17 instead.

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-14.png

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-15.png

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-16.png

Route 11 theme is here, so it has to be a cool route.

I cross Route 17 surfing most of it and arrive to Route 18.
Here I face a Hiker. Mr. Vampiro easily defeats his Drilbur and Roggenrola with Giga Drain, but has to switch out vs Excadrill. Sally kills the Drill and Mr. Vampiro reaches 43 and happiness:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-17.png

Mr. Vampiro also learns Cross Poison at evolving.

I find the grass of the route and catch a Mon there:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-18.png

Not the ideal Mon for a Nuzlocke due to frailty, but at least its strong. Fun fact, Haxorus learns BELLY DRUM in this game. Outside of Jolteon and Espeon, its the fastest Belly Drum user.

I continue my journey on Route 18, discovering a house with a woman that heals my team. I also find the Calm Mind TM. Sally can learn the move, but I want to wait for now.

A Blackbelt's Meditite, Breloom and Sawk are defeated by Gran Bluff. After that, I find Black Belt (the item).

I find a strong current that leads back to the second part of Route 17. There, I finally achieve the P2 Lab that Juniper told me about. In front of it, there is a doctor whose Tirtouga, Archen and Magneton Mosquetona defeats. This way, I get a healing spot.

I enter P2 Lab. Inside, I find Juniper:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-19.png

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-20.png

Doesn,t look so secret for me...

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-21.png

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-22.png

...raided.

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-23.png

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-24.png

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-25.png

...after here...

In the lower floor there is a laberynth with some switches that close and open doors. I face a Plasma Grunt. Mr. Vampiro 2HKOs a Golbat and almost OHKOs a Liepard, who dies in a very funny way:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-26.png

I discover a glitch. Despite Liepard losing health from Black Sludge, it doesn,t die:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-27.png

Just to add insult to the injury, Mr. Vampiro gets a crit with Cross Poison, that Liepard has been HUMILLATED.

Next Grunt has a single Weezing. Mosqueton switches into Sludge Bomb and KOs it with Earthquake before Weezing can explode.
Another Grunt has a Skorupi and a Krokorok, but beaten by Mr. Vampiro.

My Repels end and wild Mons that appearing, I catch one:

Klinklang has a terrible movepool but a good typing and bulk. There is no Shift Gear in this game, but Klinklang learns Dragon Dance instead. Pretty good Mon.

Next Plasma Grunt I encounter has a Croagunk defeated by Mosqueton and a Watchog by Amphy.
A Scientist comes next. Mosqueton sweeps Beldum, Zorua and Klang.

I find the Sword Dance TM. Sally learns this, but just like with CM, currently there is no room.

On a PC, I find some information about what Team Plasma is doing:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-28.png

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-29.png

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-34.png

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-35.png

Something went lower than expected and they had dificulty with integrating the cybernetic parts without serious degradation. Can,t understand the last sentence at all but it does look pretty creepy.

In another PC I find more:

Still not being able to guess every word, but apparently their project goes well.

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-46.png

So, without proper management the project has been cancelled, but someone wants to continue it.

I see Juniper, so I go back to the entrance to heal. On my way to it, I discover another document, which should in theory be the first of the 4:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-47.png

Today the specimen arrived.

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-48.png

Must be millions of years old.

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-49.png

Nothing new here, this is how the project began.

After I heal, I go back to where I have seen Juniper... and she is not alone:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-58.png

Gorm leads with Palpitoad, which is good news for Sally, who just OHKOs it:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-60.png

Frillish suffers the same fate:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-61.png

Last is Starmie. Sally is faster and paralyzes it with Glare. Starmie can,t move.
Starmie barely survives Energy Ball and uses Confuse Ray.

No problem, I just switch Amphy in. Gorm heals Starmie.
Starmie barely survives Discharge too, but can,t move.
Next hit finishes the battle:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-63.png

This is what Amphy said to that Starmie:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-64.png

...go!

Once again, Shadow allows a Sage to escape.

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-65.png

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-66.png

...mental weapon...

After that, we leave the lab and Juniper goes away too.

When I get out of the lab, Bianca calls:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-67.png

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-68.png

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-71.png

...should come too.

Bianca also tells me that if the bridge to Driftveil City is raised, I can take a shorcut in Castelia Sewers.

Finishing the chapter here, current team:

Chapter 13. The tournament plot.

I fly to Castelia City and enter into the Sewers. A way that used to be blocked now isn,t, so I can explore a bigger area. I find a button I press, a sound can be heard:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-0.png

Sewers got flooded, so I get to explore an even bigger area by surfing.

I find a TwistedSpoon, but have no use for it right now.
One of the trainers I face in the Sewers is a Janitor with Skorupi, Foongus and Golbat. Morz beats all of them and grows to level 44:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-1.png

Another Janitor later has his Houndour, Deino and Pawniard defeated by Mosqueton, who gros to level 45:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-2.png

Finally a fully evolved team. Mosqueton also learns Dragon Claw upon evolving.

The way to Driftveil City is blocked by a rock, but...

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-3.png

I teach Strength to Morz, forgetting Ice Shard.

Instead of going directyly to Driftveil, I explore the remaining part of Castelia Sewers, finding Focus Sash and Sludge Bomb TM this way.

I then Fly to Dreamyard. I move a rock and explore the place, beating some trainers and finding the Dazzling Gleam TM.

After that, I finally complete Castelia Sewers and arrive to Relic Passage. There, Sally wins vs a Nurse that has Wigglytuff, so now I can heal at that spot.
At Relic Passage I have 2 possible Mons to catch. The one I want is Larvitar, but of course I get the other one:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-4.png

Generic boring Rock type with high physical bulk and power, but bad everything else. Can explode, but this is a Nuzlocke.

I continue exploring Relic Passage and find the useful Rock Slide TM. Both Mosqueton and Morz learn the move, but I have no room for it. If I find a Choice Band somewhere (in case its present in the game), Mosqueton won,t be needing Rest anymore.

Relic Passage has 2 exists. First one goes to a new section of Relic Castle. This is what I see there:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-5.png

Volcarona is a game winning Mon, but very hard to get, since Larvesta evolves at level 59. There is no Fiery Dance in this game, but Volcarona learns Lava Plume instead, which in some match-ups can be better. Quiver Dance and Bug Buzz are still there, but none of this matters, since I can,t use Volcarona.
I also find a Cover Fossil in this section of Relic Castle.

The other exit of Relic Passage leads me to the World Tournament. There, I encounter Bianca and Cheren:
Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-6.png

...see you.

Bianca and Cheren tell me about the Tournament and that there is something suspicious going on at this place.

I explore the area and find a dude that tells me IVs of my Mons (except HP ones for some reason).:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-7.png

Mosqueton: Attack 13, Defense 10, Speed 9, Special Attack 7, Special Defense 7. Above average Mon.
Sally: Attack 0 (lmao), Defense 14, Speed 7, Special Attack 13, Special Defense 13. That Attack is pathetic, maybe I should start using Hidden Power.
Mr. Vampiro: Attack 13, Defense 10, Speed 10, Special Stats 2. Mr. Vampiro has Giga Drain for now, but will replace it at some point. The Sdef is sad though.
Amphy: Attack 8, Defense 13, Speed 1, Special Stats 0. Bruh, what is this. Speed doesn,t matter for Amphy, but those Special Stats...
Morz: Attack 11, Defense 5, Speed 4, Special Stats 2. Another one with completely wrong distribution. That 11 would have been so useful in the Special slot.
Gran Bluff: Attack 14, Defense 5, Speed 14, Special Stats 1. Well, I have been right at making Gran Bluff a Physical Attacker.

This game has mostly GSC mechanics, so the maximum IV is 15... which none of my Mons get (except maybe in HP, which I am not told about). Special Stats are always the same for both Attack and Defense. This benefits Sally and sort of Mosqueton, while everyone else got 2 or less in that department.

Another NPC reveals me the Hidden Power type of my Mons. Thats how I learn Sally has Poison one, so she stays with Body Slam as coverage move for now, Poison offensively is very bad to have without STAB or secondary effects. Morz meanwhile has Ice Hidden Power, meaning that for now, only Amphy will use the move, since he has Flying one.

I find the best item of the game:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-8.png

Gran Bluff will be the lucky Mon to use Leftovers for now, he has a titanic HP. In fact, I check the list of Mons that this game has, and Wigglytuff is the second Mon with the highest HP, after only Drifblim.

I sign up for the Tournament:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-9.png

First phase is Qualifiers:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-10.png

...contestants for the World Tournament.

Ace Trainer Shawn only has 2 Mons. First is a Vanillish, who is totally walled by Morz. Second is Amoonguss, totally walled by Mr. Vampiro. Easy win.
I then face Ace Trainer Riesha. My lead vs her is Mosqueton. She has a Garbodor and a Camerupt, so the battle only lasts 2 turns.

This way, I qualify to the main stage of the tournament:

...our contestants.

Contestants are: Marlon, Cheren, Iris (former champion), Bianca, Juniper, Infer, me and....

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-16.png

Ok, who is this? I am scared now. Pairings begin:
Marlon vs Infer. They battle.

Bianca leads with a level 38 Stoutland. It survives Surf from Morz and uses Body Slam. Rocky Helmet does damage to Stoutland, but he gets the para.
Stoutland uses Body Slam again, Morz heals with Rest.
Stoutland changes the strategy and uses Hone Claws. Hopefully this one doesn,t have Giga Impact, like Cheren's one.
Stoutland uses Body Slam.
Instead of trying to get a crit, Stoutland uses Hone Claws again. Morz wakes up and kills the dog with Surf:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-26.png

Bianca sends a level 41 Dewott. Why didn,t she evolve that thing for now? I get its the only cool looking Mon of the line, but still...
I switch Sally in while Dewott uses Sword Dance.
Sally easily kills Dewott with Energy Ball:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-27.png

Pignite is next. I switch Mosqueton into Flamethrower.
One Earthquake is enough:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-28.png

Servine comes and dies from crit Fly:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-29.png

Last Mon is a little scarier, a Musharna at level 45. Mosqueton uses Earthquake and avoids Hypnosis.
Musharna barely survives a second Earthquake and sleeps Mosqueton.

I switch Sally in, while Bianca heals Musharna.
Sally uses Leech Seed and avoids Hypnosis.
Sally uses Glare, Musharna can,t move.
Sally uses Energy Ball, Musharna still can,t move.
Sally uses another Energy Ball. Musharna barely survives it and uses Calm Mind, then dies from Leech Seed:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-30.png

Extremely easy battle, only Morz and Mosqueton were damaged at all. Bianca just had 2 good Mons, the NFEs were all free experience.

Iris and Juniper fight next. Somehow, this is the result:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-31.png

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-32.png

Former Champion Iris has been defeated.

Last battle of the round is Cheren vs Misteryman Vio. The winner here is obvious, for plot reasons:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-35.png

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-36.png

My Semis opponent is Infer.

Full team at last. This is going to be tough. Infer leads with Gligar, but smartly withdraws it vs Morz's Aurora Beam, sending Lucario.

I switch Mr. Vampiro into Aura Sphere.
Mr. Vampiro uses Fly and takes Iron Head.
Mr. Vampiro finishes Lucario:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-41.png

Infer sends a level 40 Larvitar. Mr. Vampiro deletes it with Giga Drain:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-42.png

Gligar is back. Mr. Vampiro crits with Fly and takes a powerful Acrobatics.
Mr. Vampiro finishes Gligar with Giga Drain:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-43.png

Lampent is next. Mr. Vampiro uses Fly and takes Flamethrower.
And then the tragedy happens:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-44.png

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-45.png

RIP Mr. Vampiro. 2 turns moves give chances to things like this one.

I send Amphy, Infer sends shiny Gardevoir. Mr. Vampiro would have enjoyed using Cross Poison on that one.
Gardevoir uses Calm Mind, Amphy hits it with Discharge.
Gardevoir boosts again and is paralyzed.

I switch Gran Bluff in, while Gardevoir uses Barrier.
Gran Bluff uses Play Rough, but Gardevoir survives and uses Psychic:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-46.png

RIP Gran Bluff. This death was provoked by Lampent's kill of Mr. Vampiro.

Mosqueton comes in and cleans:

The result of the other Semi-Final is obvious:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-50.png

Fortunately, I have the option of leaving the building and train new Mons instead of Mr. Vampiro and Gran Bluff.

Despite him being a good Mon, I decide to put Morz into the PC. This is to avoid repeating typings and also weaknesses. I take out Pirita (Boldore), Sr. Tuercas (Klink) and Azul Marina (Azumarill).

While I am at it, I also check their IVs:
Azul Marina: Attack 2, Defense 14, Speed 3, Special Stats 1. Well, at least she has a good Defense to use Rocky Helmet efficiently. Other than that, terrible IVs once again.
Sr. Tuercas: Attack 12, Defense 9, Speed 4, Special Stats 13. This one is not bad.
Pirita: Attack 0 (...), Defense 4, Speed 8, Special Stats 14. Poorly allocated, but not the worst IVs, the Special Defense matters.

I train the new Mons:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-51.png

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-52.png

After the training, I finally go to face Misteryman Vio:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-53.png

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-54.png

Vio leads with a level 42 Sneasel. My lead is Pirita, who uses Rock Slide... but Vio has already withdrawn Sneasel and sent a Piloswine.

I switch Sally into Earthquake.
One Energy Ball is enough:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-55.png

Sneasel comes again. I switch Azul Marina into Ice Punch. Sneasel takes more damage than Azul Marina due to Rocky Helmet.
Sneasel uses Screech and dies from Play Rough:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-56.png

Sealeo is next. Azul Marina uses Play Rough and takes Icicle Crash.
Azul Marina uses Play Rough again and is confused by Swagger.

I switch Sr. Tuercas in, while Sealeo uses Rest.
Sr. Tuercas uses Discharge twice for free to kill Sealeo:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-57.png

Level 48 Glalie could be a threat. It uses Double Team but is paralyzed by Thunder Wave.
Sr. Tuercas misses Gear Grind but Glalie can,t move.
Sr. Tuercas misses Gear Grind but Glalie can,t still move.
Sr. Tuercas kills Glalie:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-58.png

Last is a Cryogonal. I thought the battle would end in 1 turn, but Cryogonal proves me wrong:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-59.png

Cryogonal uses Confuse Ray. At the end of the turn, Sr. Tuercas is defrosted.
Cryogonal uses Ice Beam. Sr. Tuercas damages himself.
Cryogonal uses one last Ice Beam and Sr. Tuercas finishes the battle:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-60.png

And thats it? This battle was too easy, I expected a way bigger challenge from a misterious trainer that reached the final.

I go back into the Competitors Room to receive a price:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-127.png

Emboar... is not very good. The GSC mechanics regarding EVs will benefit him in the long run, but its a slow and not too bulky Pokemon. Flare Blitz is not a good move in Nuzlockes, while Hammer Arm has some drawbacks too. It will have to live out of TMs and doesn,t learn too many of them. The power from both sides is high, however, so its not entirely useless.

Finishing the chapter here. Current team:

Attachments

[...]

If this is as in GSC, then the HP IV is decided from whether the other ones are odd or even: it is 0, plus 8 if the Attack one is odd, plus 4 if the Defense one is odd, plus 2 if the Speed one is odd, plus 1 if the Special one is odd. So they are 11 for Mosqueton, 3 for Sally, 8 for Mr. Vampiro, 6 for Amphy, 12 for Morz, 5 for Gran Bluff, 3 for AzulMarina, 5 for Sr. Tuercas, and 0 (...) for Pirita.

Great run in a pretty cool game, by the way.

Chapter 14. Cave exploration.

Now that I am in Driftveil City, I explore it. I find a fossil maniac who wants to see a revived fossil, so I bring Archen with me. He gives me a Dawn Stone for showing Archen.

In another house, a boy wants an Axew and offers Deino. I have Axew, but I also already have Deino.

I visit Driftveil Drawbridge at last and get a useful item for Sr. Tuercas:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-0.png

Back in Driftveil City, I find a building in the place the Gym used to be. The new building is Stone Emporium, there are Move Tutors there that want Red, Green, Blue and Yellow Shards. These are the moves of Red Shard:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-1.png

Mosqueton can learn Steel Wing, but no need for it.
Amphy, Mosqueton and Azul Marina can learn Iron Tail... but its a useless move for all of them.
Amphy and Mosqueton can learn Fire Punch. However, Amphy is a special attacker, while Mosqueton has literally no room (EQ, Fly, Dragon Claw and Rest is his moveset).

Green Shards give access to these moves:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-2.png

Sally can learn Synthesis, but I see no need for now, same for Seed Bomb and Giga Drain.

Blue Shards give access to these moves:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-3.png

Mosqueton can learn Hone Claws, but again, no room.
Azul Marina can learn Icy Wind, but no need for that.
I have not enough shards to teach Aqua Tail, Ice Punch or Dragon Pulse. However, I do teach Amphy Signal Beam, forgetting Hidden Power.

Finally, these are the moves I can teach with Yellow Shards:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-4.png

Mosqueton and Azul Marina can learn Hyper Voice, but a non STAB Normal move without secondary effect is never useful.
Earth Power can be learned by Pirita and Mosqueton, but both are special attackers.
Thunder Punch and Drain Punch unfortunately can,t be learned due to not having enough shards.

I exit Driftveil City on Route 6. There is one Mon I can catch there:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-5.png

This is what I call a legit moveset made fully of level-up moves. I check the IVs to see if Gardevoir or Gallade is the better option: Attack 10, Defense 13, Speed 8, Special 1. That means that HP is 5 and that this Kirlia should be a Gallade, the Attack is way better than Special Stats.

Now, instead of exploring Route 6, I fly to Humilau City and go to Route 21 by surfing, my team is already strong enough to handle the trainers.

I easily defeat the trainers, including a Blackbelt that has a Crustle at level 50. After defeat, he shows his true horny face:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-6.png

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-7.png

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-8.png

At the end of Route 21 there is Seaside Cave. At the entrance there is a doctor, whose Onix and Lairon Sally defeats. Now I have a healing spot.
There is one Pokemon I can catch here:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-9.png

Due to being male, Escalofrio can only evolve into Glalie. And Glalie is very bad. Ice type and mediocre Stats are the perfect recipe for failure. It does learn one useful new move in Glare, but all the way at level 60.

I explore the cave, beating some trainers and finding items like Lucky Egg. At the end of the cave there is a Waterfall:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-10.png

However, I need a badge to use the move.

So, with everything possible visited, I go to Route 6 and explore it too. I beat trainers and some wild Amoonguss that are disguised as items.
In the middle of the route there is a house in which a scientists gives 5 Shards of different types for weather rocks. I certainly don,t need Weather Rocks at all, so I gladly take the Shards.
In another house I can heal my team.

Exploring the Route 6 I find Mistralton Cave. I can catch a Pokemon here:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-11.png

Already had an Aron but it never got to evolve. This one at least has actual moves.

The Mistralton Cave is long but full of items. At the end of it, I get the Stone Edge TM, pretty useless.

I go back to Route 6 but then visit yet another cave, Chargestone Cave this time. I use my Master Ball on the first Pokemon that appears:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-12.png

The catch rate of this Mon is so low, spending the Master Ball is almost required, considering it wants to suicide with its only move. Metagross gains Calm Mind in this game, but it isn,t really a needed move on it. Other than that, its as solid as a Steel Pokemon with 600 BST can be.

Rocks in Chargestone Cave don,t do anything in this game, but still look cool:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-13.png

In the middle of the cave there is a doctor that heals me after Mosqueton kills his Reuniclus (who has a Sitrus Berry).
Sr. Tuercas beats the Herdier of a Pokemon ranger, then Sally kills the Excadrill. Its enough for Sr. Tuercas to reach level 49:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-14.png

Just like Mistralton Cave, Chargestone Cave is very long and has a bad TM, Wild Charge. However, unlike Mistralton Cave, this one leads to Mistralton City. Here is where I finish this boring chapter. Current team:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-15.png

Chapter 15. Flying to the victory.

I explore Mistralton City. In a house, a guy gives me a Sharp Beak. I have no Flying Mons currently though.
At the airport, there is a lady that wants Heart Scales. She gives random Shards in exchange for each one. I trade all my 8 Heart Scales.
I might have rushed, though. I discover a Move Relearner in a house and she also wants Heart Scales. Fortunately no one in my team needs to relearn moves.

Skyla is not on her Gym, she has gone to Celestial Tower. So, I go to Route 7 in order to find said tower. Here I can catch a Mon:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-0.png

There is no Kingambit in this game and no Knock Off either, while Sucker Punch is not a move that Pawniard or Bisharp learn by level-up. However, instead of it, they learn Bullet Punch and Meteor Mash, although this one is at level 71.

In a house of Route 7 a man sells me a Razor Claw. Unfortunately I can,t catch Sneasel.
In another house another man wants a Klink and offers a Dratini. Dratini is usable, but my Klink already evolved.
I find X Scissor TM too. Mosqueton learns the move, but there is no need to use it for now.

I enter Twist Mountain and see the way blocked. However, I get to pick an item:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-1.png

No wild Pokemon appears in this room, which is on purpose, since apparently Twist Mountain is the are with the strongest Mons of the game, they appear at level 60 to 65 here.

I give Choice Band to Mosqueton. Then I fly to Driftveil City and teach Mosqueton Fire Punch, forgetting Rest. He is now a real breaker.

After that, I finally enter Celestial Tower. On first floor there is a nurse whose Leavanny Mosqueron kills with his new Band Fire Punch.
Skyla is on the same floor:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-10.png

Skyla goes back to the Gym. I decide to explore the tower first. Here I can catch 4 different Mons: Duosion, Gothorita, Haunter and...

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-11.png

Chandelure is powerful but slow and not too bulky. I don,t see this Pokemon lasting if it enters my team.

I defeat all the trainer of Celestial Tower and pick the Shadow Ball TM at the top of it. Then I go to Mistralton City Gym to challenge Skyla.
First trainer of the Gym is a pilot whose Rufflet and Braviary Azul Marina slowly kills.
The Vullaby of the second pilot is beaten by Azul Marina too, but Mandibuzz then gets too many flinches in a row with Air Slash, so Sr. Tuercas has to finish the battle.
Azul Marina comes back to beat one on one a Sigilyph that the third trainer has.
Fourth trainer has his Swablu beaten by Azul Marina, but not before using Perish Song. Sr. Tuercas comes in and sweeps Tranquil and Ducklett.
Last trainer has Golbat and Swoobat swept by Sr. Tuercas too.

Time to face Skyla:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-12.png

Unfezant is the lead. It uses Charm but still loses half of its HP from Pirita's Rock Slide.
Pirita's Attack goes to +0 again after Unfezant uses Swagger. However, Pirita damages herself.
Unfezant uses Hyper Voice. Pirita heals confusion and kills the bird:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-13.png

Skarmory is next. I switch Sr. Tuercas in while it uses Iron Defense.
Sr. Tuercas uses Discharge and gets the defense lowered by Screech.
Sr. Tuercas finishes Skarmory:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-14.png

Skyla sends a level 53 Altaria, which looks like an ace. I switch Azul Marina into Earthquake.
Altaria uses Moonblast and takes Play Rough.
Altaria uses Moonblast, Azul Marina heals with Moonlight.
Altaria uses Moonblast and avoids Play Rough.
Altaria continues attacking, Azul Marina heals.
Altaria uses Moonblast and barely survives Play Rough, healing with Sitrus Berry.
Altaria uses one last Moonblast before finally falling:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-15.png

Last Skyla's Mon is Swanna. I switch Amphy into Hurricane.
Swanna uses Rain Dance and the battle ends with a Discharge:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-16.png

I get the badge and the Acrobatics TM. Pretty easy battle overall, the only Pokemon that somewhat resisted for a while was Altaria and that was because Azul Marina without Huge Power can,t hit hard.

Finishing the chapter here.

Chapter 16. The Plasma plan.

When I leave Skyla's Gym, Cheren calls me:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-0.png

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-1.png

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-2.png

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-6.png

The cave is Seaside Cave. Cheren goes there and tells me to do the same.

When the call ends, Skyla exists the Gym and speaks to me:

She gives me the Boardingpass, so if I lose Mosqueton, I have the option to fly from Mistralton City to Lentimas Town.

I teach Azul Marina Waterfall and fly to Humilau City. However, instead of going to Seaside Cave, I visit Giant Chasm first. There is another Waterfall there, which I climb to find Thunderbolt TM. I teach the move to Amphy and Sr. Tuercas.

Then I go to Seaside Cave and climb the Waterfall there too. I go downstairs and arrive to an icy area:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-10.png

Exploring the area I get challenged by a Plasma Grunt. Mosqueton kills Pawniard, Golett and Deino in a row.
I then solve an ice puzzle to get the Psychic TM. No one in my team can learn the move, however.

Pirita defeats the level 53 Garbodor of the second Plasma Grunt.
I find NeverMeltIce, which I have no use for.

The next Plasma Grunt is a Nuzlocke hater. He just uses a Weezing with Destinybond, which I stall out. Then, he explodes the Weezing, but Sr. Tuercas lives the hit.
Sr. Tuercas also defeatse the lone Gothitelle next Plasma Grunt has.

I am currently at this point and the enemy army is getting annoying:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-11.png

Sally escapes from the Drapion next Plasma Grunt uses. Mosqueton eats a crit X Scissors and kills it with Earthquake.
Last Grunt has a Scolipede, which Pirita defeats, although she ends in red.

In the next and final room of the cave, I see Cheren and Marlon facing grunts:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-12.png

They are not alone, though, Zinzolin is also here.

I am again facing a Mono-Ice, but this time having level disadvantage. Lead Piloswine is at level 52, my Mons are at level 50 or 51. Sally uses Energy Ball and takes Icicle Crash.
Sally finishes Piloswine. This is as much utility as Sally can get vs a Mono-Ice:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-28.png

Glalie comes. I switch Sr. Tuercas into crit Blizzard.
Sr. Tuercas uses Thunder Wave and gets hit by Icicle Crash.
Sr. Tuercas goes to sleep. Glalie can,t move.
Sr. Tuercas takes only 1 Icicle Crash before waking up and killing Glalie with Gear Grind:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-29.png

Zinzolin sends a level 55 Walrein. Sr. Tuercas paralyzes it and gets confused by Swagger.

Amphy swithes into Scald.
Amphy uses Thunderbolt. Walrein can,t move.
Amphy finishes Walrein:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-30.png

Next is Cryogonal. I switch Sr. Tuercas into Confuse Ray.
Cryogonal uses Ice Beam and is paralyzed.
Sr. Tuercas heals the confusion but misses Gear Grind, taking Ice Beam.
Sr. Tuercas only needs 1 Gear Grind to kill Cryogonal:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-31.png

Level 57 Weavile is the last Mon of Zinzolin. I switch Azul Marina into Night Slash.
Weavile uses Screech and lives Play Rough in red.
Zinzolin heals Weavile, who takes Waterfall.
Weavile flinches Azul Marina with Icicle Crash.
I heal Azul Marina, who takes another Icicle Crash.
Azul Marina survives next Icicle Crash but Weavile survives Play Rough too:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-32.png

I switch Pirita into an Icicle Crash that misses.
Weavile uses Screech before the battle ends with a Bulldoze:

After that, Marlon starts to speak about my level of power and tells me that the last Gym is in Opelucid City. I can go there from Lacunosa Town, crossing the Village Bridge.

So, I fly to Lacunosa Town and go to Village Bridge. Here, I can catch a new Pokemon.

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-100.png

This Pokemon is extremely hard to evolve at this point, the method is happiness and the Pokemon learns too few TMs, so even the bulk given by Eviolite might not save Pepito from demise. Leavanny itself is a decent Mon... but all the useful Moves will have to be relearned: X Scissors is learnt at level 39, Leaf Blade at 36, Synthesis at 43 and Sword Dance at 46 (pretty sure it will take more than 2 levels to evolve). I see no future for Pepito.

I train my team and beat the trainers of Village Bridge. Then I go to the next Route, 11. Unfortunately, there are no Mons that I can catch here, so I just beat the trainers and collect some items.

I arrive to Opelucid City and finish the chapter here. Current team:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-101.png

Chapter 17. Tectonic rage at the tower.

I intend to explore Opelucid City when Iris appears:

After wishing me good luck, Iris leaves. I start exploring Opelucid City and get an Expert Belt in a house.

I find interesting post-game material:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-15.png

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-16.png

...yet.

Another house is named Curiosity Shop. They sell a random item every day. Today's item is Poison Barb, which I already have.

In another house a Fisherman gives me a Super Rod. With the Super Rod I go back to Route 11 and fish there:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-17.png

With just 2 weaknesses and high Stats, Kingdra is a solid as it has always been.

I leave Opelucid City by Route 9. I can catch either Duosion or Gothorita there, 2 Mons whose preevolutions I already had in the past. Which one will be the lucky one?

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-18.png

Unfortunately its the worst one of the two. However, still not the worst Mon ever.

I explore Route 9 and beat trainers there. One of them has a cool after battle quote:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-20.png

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-21.png

I visit the Shopping Mall Nine, which is located on this route.
Even though they are not useful, I buy Thunder, Blizzard, Fire Blast and Hyper Beam TMs. I like collecting TMs and have money for them.

There is a room in the Mall I can,t visit yet:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-22.png

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-23.png

I finish Route 9 and then Tubeline Bridge too, arriving to Route 8. I can,t catch Pokemon here, but I get access to Moor of Icirrus.

Unfortunately in Moor of Icirrus I can,t catch Mons either. I do collect the items, finding the legendary TM 50. TM 50 is last TM of the list, should be good, right? It obviously is Focus Blast of all things.

I clear Moor of Icirrus and Route 8 from trainers and arrive to Icirrus City. I explore the city and find the Pokemon Fan Club. There, a guy wants me to show him a Pokemon with Max Speed, so I show Sally and receive:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-24.png

This item is not as useful in-game as in Competitive Mons though.

Another guy wants a Heart Scale. When I give it to him, I receive Electrizer. No Electabuzz in sight though.
There is one more guy that gives Magmarizer the same way.

In another house I find the famous Rocket Grunt that stole the machine part in Kanto. He is now reformed but still speaks in a funny way:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-33.png

His wife gives me Zoom Lens.

I get informed in the city that the entrance to Twist Mountain collapsed years ago. However, there is an ice cave now which can still lead to Twist Mountain. I explore the ice cave. I don,t find the entrance to Twist Mountain, but I do find the Ice Beam TM.

Without anything else to do, I enter the Dragonspiral Tower. I encounter Drayden there:

Drayden tells me that Plasma Grunts are in this tower and after hearing I already battled them, decides that he wants my help after all.

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-44.png

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-45.png

Before following him, I catch a Pokemon:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-46.png

A pseudo-legendary can,t be bad and this one certainly isn,t. Only problem is lack of recovery moves but Dragon Dance + STABs is enough to demolish entire teams.

I start climbing the Dragonspiral Tower. Instead of the usual Grunts, I directly face a Sage on the second floor:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-47.png

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-48.png

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-49.png

Giallo leads with Emolga. I swith Sr. Tuercas out and send Mosqueton while the flying squirrel uses Light Screen.
With Band Dragon Claw, Mosqueton kills Emolga:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-50.png

Galvantula is next. It lives Dragon Claw and uses Bug Buzz.
A second Dragon Claw kills the spider:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-51.png

Giallo sends Ampharos. I switch Azul Marina in while it uses Rain Dance.

Mosqueton comes back into Thunder and the battle finishes in 3 turns:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-56.png

Extremely easy battle, since I had a fast Ground type and Giallo didn,t have an HP Ice Jolteon:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-58.png

In the next floor I find a Light Clay and face another Sage:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-59.png

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-61.png

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-62.png

Ryoku leads with Tropius. Sr. Tuercas uses his new move, Dragon Dance, taking a crit Wood Hammer.
Sr. Tuercas uses Gear Grind and takes another Wood Hammer.
Sr. Tuercas finishes Tropius with Return:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-63.png

Ryoku sends a Sawsbuck. Both Gear Grind hits crit, so the deer doesn,t get to move:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-64.png

Ferrothorn is a counter for Sr. Tuercas. So, I send Mosqueton into a crit Night Slash.
Band Fire Punch deletes Ferro:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-65.png

Amoonguss is next. This one lives Fire Punch and uses Spore.

Sr. Tuercas comes back while Amoonguss heals with Synthesis.
Sr. Tuercas uses Dragon Dance. Since there is no Sleep Clause for this battle, he gets slept too.
Amoonguss uses Giga Drain for free.
Sr. Tuercas wakes up and uses Rest. Amoonguss heals with Synthesis.
Amoonguss uses Giga Drain twice.
Sr. Tuercas wakes up and uses Gear Grind. Second hit crits and Amoonguss dies:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-66.png

Last is Roserade. Crits aren,t needed for this one, since its frail:

Ryoku was a little harder than Giallo, but still not a real threat:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-71.png

Another floor, another Sage:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-77.png

Bronius leads with Heatmor. It uses Curse, which allows it to survive a Rock Slide from Pirita.
Instead of attacking, Heatmor uses Sunny Day, dying to Bulldoze:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-78.png

Camerupt is a threat for Pirita. I switch Mosqueton into Solar Beam.
There are no Fire Flying Mons in this game. You know what that means:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-80.png

This one was a very short battle, Mosqueton is broken vs this type of teams:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-86.png

I find a Dragon Scale after facing Bronius.

Next floor is a funny laberynth:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-87.png

At the end of it there is obviously a Sage:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-88.png

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-89.png

Oh, he is not mute, just dumb. How the hell was this guy considered a Sage?

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-90.png

Gorm leads with Octillery, bad match-up for Pirita. Amphy goes into a Scald.
Amphy OHKOs the octopus with Thunderbolt:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-91.png

Seismitoad is the one Water Mon Amphy can,t stay in vs. So, I switch Sally in, while it uses Rain Dance.
Without Swift Swim in this game, Seismitoad doesn,t get to move again:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-92.png

Gorm sends Starmie. It lives an Energy Ball and uses Ice Beam.
To save PPs, Sally finishes Starmie with Dragonbreath:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-93.png

A Crawdaunt comes in to die:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-94.png

Last is Jellicent. Sally uses Energy Ball and the jellyfish wastes time using Rain Dance.
The battle ends:

Next floor is wide and full of items. When I complete it...

Plasma battle music plays in this battle instead of rival one. Infer leads with Gliscor, bad match-up for Pirita. Amphy comes into an Earthquake, which Air Balloon prevents.

I switch Azul Marina in, but Gliscor uses Earthquake again.
Gliscor uses Earthquake, Azul Marina heals with Moonlight.
Gliscor uses Earthquake, Azul Marina heals again.
Gliscor uses Earthquake and takes Surf.
Gliscor almost kills Azul Marina with crit EQ:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-140.png

Azul Marina heals.
Gliscor continues attacking, Azul Marina heals again.
Gliscor uses another Earthquake, Azul Marina uses last Moonlight PP.
Gliscor uses one last Earthquake before falling to Surf:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-141.png

The shiny Gardevoir comes in. Sr. Tuercas switches in for free, since Gardevoir uses Mirror Coat.
Sr. Tuercas misses Gear Grind, Gardevoir uses Calm Mind.
Sr. Tuercas misses again and takes a Psychic.
Sr. Tuercas finally kills Gardevoir:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-142.png

Infer still has an unevolved Lampent, meaning this is not her last battle vs me. Mosqueton comes in, taking Flamethrower.

Glalie uses Glare before dying:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-57.png

Level 58 Mamoswine appears and I am now legit scared. Probably Pirita has to die.
Pirita survives the first Earthquake but can,t move.
Mamoswine uses EQ again:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-58.png

RIP Pirita.
Has been a long time since someone died and I think in this battle more than one victim are to come.

I send Sally, despite being at high risk of dying too. Sally uses Energy Ball and barely survives Icicle Crash.
What I didn,t count with was Ice Shard:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-59.png

RIP Sally.
Starter finally is down. Was way better than expected. Will be hard to organize the team without Sally.

I send Mosqueton, who finishes Mamoswine with Earthquake:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-60.png

Weavile comes to try to hunt Mosqueton. But Azul Marina is a good switch-in, taking Icicle Crash easily.
Weavile uses Hone Claws, Azul Marina heals with Moonlight.
Weavile boosts again and takes Play Rough.
Instead of going for the flinch, Weavile boosts again and dies:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-61.png

Zinzolin sends Cryogonal. It uses Confuse Ray and Azul Marina damages herself.
Cryogonal uses Blizzard, Azul Marina damages herself again.
Cryogonal uses Blizzard, Azul Marina heals.
Cryogonal uses Blizzard and freezes Azul Marina:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-62.png

Cryogonal misses Blizzard.
Cryogonal hits Blizzard.
Cryogonal starts using Night Slash. Since its Attack is pathetic, the Rocky Helmet recoil does more damage than Cryogonal does to Azul Marina.
Cryogonal uses Night Slash again. Azul Marina defrosts at the end of the turn.
Cryogonal continues its suicide. Azul Marina heals confusion and heals with Moonlight too.
Cryogonal uses Confuse Ray, but Azul Marina kills it with Play Rough:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-63.png

A fat Walrein appears. It uses Hail and is damages by Play Rough.
Walrein uses Blizzard and is damages by Play Rough again.
Walrein uses Blizzard. Azul Marina heals with Moonlight, which is nerfed due to Hail.
Walrein uses Blizzard. Azul Marina heals again, using last Moonlight PP.
Walrein uses Blizzard. Azul Marina survives in red and uses Play Rough.

I switch Amphy into next Blizzard.
Walrein uses Hail and dies:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-64.png

Last Zinzolin's Pokemon is a level 60 Froslass. It uses Confuse Ray and is damaged by Power Gem.
I switch Sr. Tuercas in, but...

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-65.png

Ok, this is catastrophic. I might lose the entire run to this frozen ghost.
Froslass uses Shadow Ball for free. Sr. Tuercas defrosts at the end of the turn.
Its too late for Sr. Tuercas to survive another Shadow Ball. But Zinzolin comites a huge mustake, he heals Froslass this turn. This allows Sr. Tuercas to just OHKO with Gear Grind, finishing the battle this way:

Drayden goes back to his Gym. I will need to find new team members after what Zinzolin did to my team:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-130.png

Finishing the chapter here.

Chapter 19. Playing with dragons.

To replace Pirita and Sally, I put Rosellon (Roselia) and Escalofrio (Snorunt) in the team. Since Drayden uses Dragons, this might as well be the one time Escalofrio will be useful in this game.

I check both Pokemon's IVs to see how unlucky I am:
Rosellon: Attack 11, Defense 4, Speed 4, Special Stats 1. This means HP is 9, only somewhat salvageable Stat.
Escalofrio: Attack 14, Defense 6, Speed 1, Special Stats 0. This means HP is 2, terrible Mon outside of Attack.

I still train them both:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-0.png

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-1.png

After the training, I go to Opelucid City and enter the Gym.

First trainer has Swablu, Horsea and Seadra, Amphy OHKOs all of them.
Second one has Axew, Deino and Fraxure. Escalofrio OHKOs them all.
Third trainer is the first one whose Horsea isn,t OHKOd by Escalofrio, who still defeats it, Dratini and Dragonair.
Fourth has 2 Vibravas and Zweillous, Escalofrio OHKOs them all.
The Fraxure and Dragonair of the fifth trainer are OHKOd by Escalofrio too.
Last trainer has a signle Altaria, whose level and speed is higher than Escalofrio has. That doesn,t prevent my Glalie from winning though.

Time to face the last Gym Leader:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-2.png

Drayden leads with a level 58 Flygon. It uses Outrage on Rosellon, getting a very hard hit, while surviving Dazzling Gleam and healing with Sitrus Berry.

Escalofrio comes into the next Outrage.
Flygon uses Outrage again (which Azul Marina is immune to) and takes Play Rough.
Flygon dies from confusion:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-3.png

Dragonite comes in. It uses Dragon Dance. Azul Marina uses Play Rough, but doesn,t do high damage.
Dragonite uses Dragon Dance again and avoids Play Rough. This is danger.
Dragonite gets to +3 and avoids another Play Rough.
Dragonite gets to +4 and his greed is finally punished with a crit Play Rough:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-5.png

Kingdra is certainly not a good option vs Azul Marina. It uses Hydro Pump and takes Play Rough.
Kingdra uses Hydro Pump again, Azul Marina heals with Moonlight.
Kingdra uses Hydro Pump and barely survives Play Rough.
Kingdra crits with the next Hydro, but Azul Marina heals again.
Kingdra uses Focus Energy, Azul Marina heals.
Kingdra uses Hydro Pump and survives Surf.
Kingdra crits with Flash Cannon, Azul Marina heals with Moonlight.

Sr. Tuercas gets into the next Flash Cannon.
Sr. Tuercas kills Kingdra with Return:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-6.png

Level 63 Haxorus (way above my team) is the last foe to beat. It uses Shadow Claw, revealing Life Orb as item. At the same time, it avoids Gear Grind.
Haxorus uses Shadow Claw again, avoiding again Gear Grind.

I switch Escalofrio... right into a crit Shadow Claw:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-7.png

RIP Escalofrio.
He defeated almost the whole Gym, but couldn,t do anything vs Drayden.

Azul Marina comes back. Haxorus uses Dragon Dance... and is revenge critted by Play Rough:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-8.png

I get the badge and the Dragon Claw TM.

Drayden has been a tough leader due to some luck and high level advantage. Fortunately, Azul Marina got 2 important crits too, saving me from a likely disaster:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-9.png

Finishing the chapter here.

Chapter 20. Before the ending road begins.

At this point in the game, I almost have no new Mons to catch. This means, I have to protect well those I have. For this reason, as long as I have a good defensive sinergy, I should use the worst Mons possible. This makes Magnum (Vanillite) the best candidate to be trained now.

Magnum IVs: Attack 3, Defense 11, Speed 6, Special Stats 3. This makes HP 13. Overall, not too bad.

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-10.png

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-11.png

After the training, I have nowhere to go except to the Victory Road. This means I visit Route 13 again. This route has 2 parts, East and West. East has level 17 to 21 Pokes (and in theory I could have visited it after getting the third badge), West at 47 to 54. So, it will count as 2 encounters.
East encounter has only 1 posibility:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-12.png

Electivire has good coverage and not the worst bulk. It will only be used if Amphy falls, but its not a bad Mon.

With Elekid caught, I can now go to Floccessy Ranch, where I can catch another Mon that until now could have been Elekid, but now is guaranted:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-14.png

Eevee and its evolutions have been a little improved in this game. Eevee itself has gained Belly Drum. Despite being a very risky move, it means every evolution has it,
Vaporeon has nothing new, but its still a solid bulky Water.
Jolteon has nothing new... but its the fastest Belly Drum user, learning Thunder Fang, Bite and Double Kick to abuse it. Special Jolteon is still better though.
Flareon has nothing new, but +6 Quick Attack from it will hurt.
Espeon now learns Recover (which has more PPs than Morning Sun) and Nasty Plot.
Umbreon unfortunately still has Moonlight as only recovery move.
Leafeon is a physical attacker, meaning Belly Drum is an option for it. However, Sword Dance is still more reliable.
Glaceon has nothing new, except being the first Belly Drum + Ice Shard Mon.
Sylveon has nothing new, but is a very good Fairy with Calm Mind + Draining Kiss/Moonblast.

For now, though, I stick with the existing team. Still on Route 23 East I face a trainer that has Emolga and Azumarill. Amphy defeats both.
Another trainer protects an item. Amphy OHKOs Swanna and Galvantula. Item ends up being a simple PP Up, I will spend those right before the Pokemon League.

There is a house in which I get a valuable item:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-15.png

I give them to Magnum, since Amphy is better with Air Balloon + Rest, while Rosellon has Black Sludge.

I arrive to the West part of Route 23. Here, I can catch a new Mon:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-16.png

Already had a Magby, but it died before evolving. Hopefully this one lasts longer.

I return to Route 23 and start battling the remaining Ace Trainers, none of which are obligatory. A disaster quickly occurs vs the first one. Azul Marina defeats a Magmar that has used Sunny Day, but then Magmortar does this with Fire Blast:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-17.png

RIP Azul Marina. The unkillable tank of the team has fallen.

Mosqueton comes in and OHKOs the evil Magmortar.

Now I have a problem. Azul Marina was both my Surf and Waterfall user. I have only 3 Water types in the PC (+a Dratini who also learns the needed HMs, but shares typing with Mosqueton). Horsi will share typing with Mosqueton, while Morz shares it with Magnum. The other option is Eeveeto, who is still unevolved. I check Eeveeto's IVs to see if he is suitable for being a Vaporeon: Attack 11, Defense 9, Speed 0, Special Stats 9. This means that HP is 13, so its totally suitable to be a Vaporeon:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-18.png

After training Eeveeto, I go back to Route 23. Next Ace Trainer there is easier to beat, his Scolipede is walled by Sr. Tuercas and his Houndoom is beaten by Eeveeto.
Not every trainer here is Ace Trainer, a Pokemon Ranger challenges me too, Amphy kills Sealeon and Lucario.

A temporary sacrifice needs to be done in order to get a TM, Rosellon learns Cut:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-19.png

After cutting the tree, I find myself in a wide forest, full of trainers. First one is a Backpacker. Her Boldore avoids Magnum's Specs Mirror Shot and explodes, fortunately without killing Magnum. Aggron is killed by Mosqueton.
I realize when healing Magnum that I am totally without healing items now, will need to buy them after making Rosellon forget Cut.

Not only Cut is needed to get the TM, but also Strength:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-20.png

Eeveeto forgets Shadow Ball and learns Strength.

The item seen on screen was just a Full Restore. I need to take the long way to get the TM. A veteran with 2 Dratinis and a Dragonair is destroyed by Magnum on my way. A Pokemon Ranger with Stunfisk and Amoonguss meets the same fate.
A Backpacker's Piloswine is killed by Magnum, Probopass is taken care of by Mosqueton.

After moving several rocks to solve a puzzle, I finally get the TM. This one is useful (not for my current team though), Flamethrower. Currently, I am still missing 4 TMs out of 50, I wonder how many are in Victory Road.

I explore the rest of the area I needed Cut and Strength for. Even without Sludge Bomb, Rosellon is able to win vs Battle Girl's Gurdurr, hilariously finishing it with Cut. Vs Medicham, Mosqueton and his Fly is needed.
That was the last trainer of the route. Last item is a PP Max. Route 23 has been completed.

I make Rosellon forget Cut and Eeveeto forget Strength in Aspertia City, they learn back Sludge Bomb and Shadow Ball respectively. I also buy 20 Full Restores for the Victory Road.

I arrive to Victory Road. Close to the entrance, there is a Pokemon Center that doesn,t look as such from outside:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-21.png

Victory Road in this game has 4 parts: the Inside, the Castle, the Outdoor and the Grove.

Inside is the first part. Here I can catch an evolved form of several Pokemon I already have: Piloswine, Lampent, Metang or Zweilous. Unfortunately, the first of them that appears is a Metang. I don,t even try catching it, knowing the catch rate for this evolutionary line is abysmal.

After a short training, I start exploring the cave. A Hex Maniac with Spiritomb and Gengar is Gear Grinded by Sr. Tuercas.
An Ace Trainer with just a Heatmor and a Galvantula gives me more problems than expected. Heatmor escapes out of Eeveeto and Galvantula manages to confuse Mosqueton with Signal Beam. The spider ends up being killed by Amphy, the ant eater by Eeveeto.

Next 2 trainers are close to each other. If Shiyo made this game, he would put a rock to the right of the top one (despite there being Water, I can,t Surf here):

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-22.png

Top trainer is a Veteran whose Gigalith is walled by Sr. Tuercas, who himself is walled by Skarmory, which Amphy defeats.
Bottom trainer is another Veteran. Eeveeto OHKOs her Gigalith and Sigilyph.

After beating both of them, I reach to the Water, which leads me to the Outdoor area. Here, I have to teach Eeveeto Waterfall instead of Shadow Ball.
I then battle a Backpacker who says me she was from Team Plasma. Sr. Tuercas easily overcomes her Sigilyph and Crobat.

I find the Grass of the Outdoor area. I can catch another Mon here:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-23.png

As seen on the screen, Krookodile learns Sucker Punch in this game. Other than that, its not too different from how it usually is, a strong and fast Ground Mon.

Finishing the chapter here, will finish this run next year. Current team:

Chapter 21. The road of the victory.

I enter Victory Road again. I need Strength to advance and since Eeveeto already knows Waterfall, it would be unwise to remove another offensive special move from him. Therefore, Mosqueton forgets Dragon Claw and learns Strength, temporarily.
A Psychic with Metang and Cofagrigus challenges me. Amphy defeats both Mons.
The Swoobat of an Ace Trainer comes close to defeating Amphy, dealing a lot of damage with 2 Psychics. Lilligant there is beaten by Rosellon.
Another Ace Trainer has his Unfezant and Whimsicott OHKOd by Sr. Tuercas.

I arrive to the Grove part of Victory Road. Interesting Grass Mons appear here, like Breloom, Lilligant and Whimsicott. However, I can,t use them.

There is a tree I need to Cut in order to get an item. Rosellon has to be nerfed, losing Sludge Bomb again. The item ends up being Brightpowder.

A Veteran tries to beat Amphy with Sawsbuck and Crustle, unsuccesfully.

I find a Nurse. After Sr. Tuercas OHKOs her Clefable and Sylveon, I get my team healed.

Sr. Tuercas beats a Veteran's Fraxure and Zweilous, then Eeveeto comes to OHKO a Flygon.
Ace Trainer has Durant OHKOd by Amphy and Ferrothorn by Mosqueton.
Female Ace Trainer has Mandibuzz and Archeops beaten by Amphy. Unlike the Durant (and obviously Archeops), Mandibuzz avoids the Thunderbolt OHKO. After winning, this Ace Trainer tells me that Team Plasma stole her Pokemon once. Good lore right here.

Magnum almost dies vs a Veteran. His Beartic is 2HKOd by Specs Mirror Shot, then a Golurk appears. I decide to stay despite being locked in a weak move, Golurk then reveals Meteor Mash of all things. Magnum barely survives and Eeveeto comes in to kill the robotic ghost.
A Psychic reveals interesting information after Eeveeto kills her Lampent and Musharna. Apparently, Caitlin won,t be an Elite Four in this game.

An Ace Trainer protects and item. Magnum OHKOs his Braviary and Rosellon his Carracosta. The item ends up being Life Orb. Without abilities like Magic Guard or Sheer Force, this is not a good item.

Even in Sun, Eeveeto manages to OHKO the Magmar and Camerupt of a Pokemon Ranger.
Magnum kills an Ace Trainer's Swanna and Ampharos without taking damage.
Battle Girl is next. Rosellon easily beats Throh and Sawk.
Rosellon proceeds to kill Backpacker's Boldore, Lairon and Steelix.
The Electabuzz of a Pokemon Ranger is also killed by Rosellon, but I send Mosqueton to deal with Probopass.
A Scientist with Metang and Bisharp requires Amphy to be defeated.

A Blackbelt surprises Mosqueton with his Pinsir using Outrage on switch-in. Mosqueton lives in yellow, I send Eeveeto to kill Pinsir and Heracross.
The Darmanitan and Breloom of an Acer Trainer are both beaten by Mosqueton, who has to switch out once to finish the job due to Choice Band.
Mosqueton also OHKOs the Zebstrika and Starmie from a Scientist.

I arrive to a creepy and dark place, which is definetely not the road for Pokemon League:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-0.png

In fact, its the entrance to N's Castle:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-1.png

The place is completely empty, there is nothing inside:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-2.png

I don,t get why this was even included in this game. Regarding wild Mons, I can catch here Lampent, Piloswine, Metang and Zweilous. Unfortunately, once again Metang is the first one that appears, so I won,t be even trying to catch it, I already have a Beldum.

Back in Victory Road, Magnum OHKOs the Drifblim and Claydol of a Veteran.
Another Veteran has hew Fraxure OHKOd by Magnum too. However, she sends her own Vanilluxe, who freezes Sr. Tuercas. Eeveeto ends up winning the battle, but I need to use 2 Full Restores after this one.
Third Veteran in a row. Sr. Tuercas beats Zweilous and Eelektross.

I find some weird construction and closed stairs:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-3.png

Is this where Terrakion used to be (he is not in the game)?

I finally arrive to Pokemon League after that. But can,t enter without a hard battle:

The state of my team is not optimal at the beginning of this battle:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-31.png

I switch Rosellon out of lead Gliscor. Magnum takes Acrobatics.
Gliscor uses Drain Punch and dies to Ice Beam:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-32.png

Chandelure is next. I switch Mosqueton in, taking an Overheat.
Mosqueton kills Chandelure with Earthquake:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-33.png

Shiny Gardevoir appears. Sr. Tuercas comes into Moonblast.
One Gear Grind is enough to kill Gardevoir:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-34.png

Infer sends Lucario. Here is a good moment to sack Magnum:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-35.png

RIP Magnum.
I didn,t want to risk any other Mon.

With Gardevoir and Gliscor eliminated already, you know what comes now:

After that, Infer goes away. Considering my team was already damaged before this battle, it was a success, only needing to sack the worst Pokemon:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-46.png

Finishing the chapter here. In the next one, after training a new team member, I will challenge the Elite Four.

Chapter 22. New elites, old tactics.

I check my PC and decide that the best Mon for the team will be Mirage (Kirlia):

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-0.png

After the training, I buy 14 Full Restores, so that I have 39 of them. I assume absolute worst case scenario: opponents using 3 healing items in battle and me needing to heal all 6 Mons after every battle. This scenario is unreal, but I have enough money.
I spend the rest of the money in vitamins.
I also use all my PP Ups and PP Maxes, prioritizing the healing moves.
Finally, I fly to Aspertia City and make Rosellon forget Cut, Eeveeto forget Waterfall and Mosqueton forget Strength. They learn Sludge Bomb, Shadow Ball and Dragon Claw respectively.

I then enter the Pokemon League building and read who are the opponents:

So, Grimsley and Marshall are still here. The electric one has to be Elesa, but I have no idea who the Steel type Elite Four is. I will challenge Elesa first, since she looks like the easiest one. When Emolga falls, it will be Earthquake SPAM.

Elesa leads with Emolga, but I forget to change my lead Mirage. So, I switch Amphy in while Emolga uses Rain Dance.
Emolga uses Thunder and almost dies to Power Gem.
Emolga uses another Thunder and dies:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-27.png

Electivire is next. I can,t switch Mosqueton directly into this one. I switch Eeveeto into Earthquake.

I switch Mosqueton into Wild Charge.
The rest of the battle is short:

Zebstrika got to use Extreme Speed before falling. Last Mon is an Eelektross. The funny thing is not that, the funny thing is:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-31.png

Elesa sent the Mon on the Air Balloon last. How did she get to be an Elite Four?
I switch Mirage, who is paralyzed by Glare.
Eelektross uses Gunk Shot and does over half to Mirage, who can,t move.

I switch Sr. Tuercas into the next Gunk Shot.
Sr. Tuercas uses Return, breaking the Air Balloon. He is paralyzed by Glare in return.

Mosqueton gets into Flamethrower.
Mosqueton finishes the battle:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-32.png

Very easy battle, even with the last surprise Balloon:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-33.png

Time to do another Earthquake SPAM vs the Steel specialist. Who could he be?

Colress leads with Mawile. Its faster than Amphy and uses Play Rough before getting hit by Thunderbolt.

I switch Sr. Tuercas into the next Play Rough.
Sr. Tuercas finishes Mawile with Gear Grind:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-50.png

Steelix is next. Damn, Mosqueton doesn,t get free switch-in for now. I send Eeveeto into Earthquake.

Colress withdraws Steelix and sends Klinklang, who is hit by Surf.

Mosqueton switches in, avoiding Gear Grind.
Mosqueton kills Klinklang with Earthquake:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-51.png

Steelix is back. It survives Earthquake and uses the same move.
Mosqueton finishes Steelix:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-52.png

Colress sends a Magnezone. Easy prey, right? Not really:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-53.png

I switch Mirage into Flash Cannon.
Mirage uses Drain Punch and avoids Zap Cannon.
Mirage kills Magnezone:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-54.png

Last is Aggron. It activates Quick Claw and paralyzes Mirage, but the battle ends the same turn anyway:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-55.png

Less brainless battle than the previous one, but still very easy:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-56.png

Kill count so far:

Mosqueton: 6
Mirage: 2
Amphy: 1
Sr. Tuercas: 1
Eeveeto: 0
Rosellon: 0

Finishing the chapter here. The other 2 Elite Four members won,t consist in Mosqueton uses Earthquake vs everything, so they will be a little harder.

Chapter 23. The king of abominations.

Between Grimsley and Marshal, I have a better battle plan vs Marshal, so I go vs him first. Mirage should just boost and kill all the opposition.

Marshal leads with Breloom. My lead is Rosellon, so Breloom dies before doing anything:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-11.png

Marshall sends a dangerous Gallade next. I switch Eeveeto into Psycho Cut.
Eeveeto almost dies to Leaf Blade and uses Shadow Ball:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-12.png

I switch Amphy into next Leaf Blade, but get an unexpected problem:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-13.png

I switch Mosqueton in, taking huge damage from Close Combat.
Mosqueton kills Gallade with Earthquake:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-14.png

Throh is next. I switch Rosellon into Close Combat.
Rosellon uses Leech Seed and takes another CC.
Then Throhs Quick Claw activates...

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-15.png

Phew, that was close. Rosellon uses Synthesis.
Rosellon uses Synthesis again, taking CC... which is crit:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-16.png

Fuck that puppet. I switch Mirage into CC.
Mirage uses Bulk Up, taking Reversal.
Mirage boosts again, taking another Reversal.
Throh is pretty low at this point, so a crit Reversal + Quick Claw activating would screw me. But I will have to risk it, since Throh uses Endure, taking Leech Seed before being hit by Mirage, surviving at 1 HP.
There is no Quick Claw activation though, Mirage kills Throh:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-17.png

Conkeldurr comes to die.

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-18.png

Last is Sawk. It uses Close Combat and survives Psychoc Cut with Focus Sash.
For some reason, Mirage is faster next turn and finishes the battle:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-20.png

After the battle I check Sawk's set:

db 66, SAWK
dw $9000, $9000, $9000, $9000, $9000
db FOCUS_SASH
db COUNTER, CLOSE_COMBAT, ROCK_SLIDE, THUNDERPUNCH

COUNTER. AI choked hard, allowing me to preserve Mirage.

This battle did actually make my team suffer:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-21.png

Time to challenge Grimsley. He is the hardest Elite Four, since my team doesn,t have Dark resist, I need to win offensively as soon as possible. Sr. Tuercas or Mirage boosting are probably the best paths for that.

The atmosphere in Grimsley's room is ominous:

Grimsley leads with Scrafty. Rosellon misses Leech Seed and gets a Super Fang.
Rosellon heals with Synthesis and gets another Super Fang.
Rosellon heals again and gets a powerful Crunch.
Rosellon misses Leech Seed again and ends up in red:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-32.png

Rosellon tries to heal, but Scrafty gets a Defense drop on him.

I switch Mirage into Crunch.
Instead of using Bulk Up, Mirage attacks with Drain Punch. This proves to be the right play:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-33.png

Mirage once again avoids dying by miracle.
Mirage kills Scrafty:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-34.png

Grimsley sends Drapion. I switch Mosqueton into Crunch.
Mosqueton OHKOs Drapion:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-35.png

Krookodile is next. I switch Amphy expecting EQ, but get hit by Outrage instead.

Eeveeto takes the next Outrage.
Krookodile is confused already, but manages to use Earthquake before falling to Surf:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-36.png

Bisharp comes in. Mosqueton takes Night Slash, Bisharp reveals Life Orb.
Mosqueton kills Bisharp:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-37.png

Last is Houndoom. I don,t have switch-in, so have to trust Mosqueton attacking first. Fortunately, he does and Houndoom does not have a Focus Sash:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-38.png

Very scary battle, not resisting the Crunches made my team's health go really down:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-39.png

I go to the Champion's floor:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-40.png

I intended to finish the chapter saving right before I enter Champion's room, but my plan fails in a epic way:

I am not allowed to do anything except enter inside the Champion room.
Inside, I see the shadow figure of what Ghetsis has become. Without saying any word, he attacks me:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-95.png

Ghetsis sends Cofagrigus. Rosellon uses Leech Seed and gets hit by a powerful Psychic. Cofagrigus reveals having Leftovers, so he won,t be stalled out easily.

Eeveeto takes the next Psychic.
Cofagrigus uses Protect, which is good for me, since he loses health for free.
Both Pokemon use Shadow Ball. Eeveet's Special Defense is dropped, but Cofagrigus is in red at the end of the turn.
Eeveeto finishes Cofagrigus:

Eelektross comes in. Easy switch-in for Mosqueton.
One Earthquake is enough:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-97.png

Ghetsis sends Toxicroak, who also dies:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-98.png

Seismitoad time. I switch Rosellon... into Earthquake:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-99.png

RIP Rosellon.
I am severely underleveled in this battle.

I switch Eeveeto in. Seismitoad uses Earthquake and takes Surf.
Eeveeto survives another Earthquake in red and puts the fat frog in red too with Surf.

I switch Amphy in, floating in a Balloon.
Seismitoad dumbly uses EQ again and dies to SIgnal Beam:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-100.png

Drapion is next. He also floats on a Air Balloon.
Looks like this AI doesn,t know the item, since Drapion uses EQ too, being hit by Thunderbolt.
Drapion uses EQ again and is hit again.
The AI doesn,t improve and Drapion dies:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-101.png

Finally, the level 70 Hydreigon. It uses Dragon Pulse and gets hit by Signal Beam. Hydreigon has Life Orb as item.

I switch Sr. Tuercas in, but he gets critted by Dragon Pulse.
Hydreigon finishes Sr. Tuercas with Flamethrower:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-102.png

RIP Sr. Tuercas. This death is less unexpected than Rosellon's one, I knew going into this battle that someone would have to be killed by Hydreigon.

Mosqueton comes in to finish the battle. Ghetsis heals Hydreigon, who lives Band Dragon Claw.
The battle ends next turn:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-103.png

Ok, I won, right? Not yet, unfortunately:

My team before fighting this monster:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-106.png

Genesis Stats: 140 HP, 115 Attack, 110 Defense, 125 Special Attack, 110 Special Defense, 130 Speed. It has no type. Ok, I am fucked.
Since Ghetsis used a Full Restore in the previous battle trying to save his Hydreigon, I heal Eeveeto. And then, the funniest thing happens:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-107.png

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-108.png

The AI has been defeated by Air Balloon. After another EQ, Amphy uses Thunderbolt.
Unfortunately, my luck ends there, Genesis uses Flamethrower. Amphy barely lives it and uses Thunderbolt again.
Genesis uses EQ:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-109.png

RIP Amphy.
That thing is too strong to try to avoid sacrifices.

I send Eeveeto. Genesis uses Flamethrower (it acts like a wild Mon now) and takes Surf.
Genesis uses EQ and finally dies to Surf:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-111.png

It then shuts down. Juniper appears:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-113.png

The Shadows enter too:

Unless the plot of BW4 is someone using some Satanic Ritual to resurrect Ghetsis of course. What could go wrong there?

Juniper leads with Metagross. I have my team revived, but since this is a Nuzlocke, I will only use the 3 dead Mons as sack slots, dealing 0 damage. The run probably ends right here, since with 3 underleveled Mons, I am very unlikely to win.
Rosellon is my lead. I order Rosellon to use Sludge Bomb, Metagross misses Zen Headbutt.
Rosellon uses Sludge Bomb again and dies:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-165.png

Mosqueton comes in and uses Earthquake, but Metagross is so bulky, it survives, using Meteor Mash.
Mosqueton finishes Metagross:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-166.png

Juniper decided to make my life really hard by using Clefable. I switch Eeveeto into a crit Moonblast.
Eeveeto uses Surf and is paralyzed by Thunder Wave. Clefable reveals having Leftovers.
Clefable uses Calm Mind, while Eeveeto uses Rest.
Clefable continues boosting while Eeveeto sleeps.
Eeveeto wakes up and uses Surf, getting hit by a very strong Moonblast.
Eeveeto uses Surf again and gets another Moonblast in the face:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-167.png

RIP Eeveeto.
This battle looks lost.

I send Mosqueton and surprisingly, he OHKOs Clefable:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-168.png

Clefable's shadow, Gengar, is next. He has Dazzling Gleam:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-169.png

RIP Mosqueton.
This is over.

Mirage is my last Mon. He resists Dazzling Gleam with just 33 HP and kills Gengar:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-170.png

The death of the run is called Life Orb Volcarona:

Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!]-171.png

RIP Mirage
. Run over.

This battle was already hard with a full team, but not being able to do anything between Ghetsis's 2 battles and Juniper's one, made it impossible. Just by using my 21 Rare Candies on the 3 surviving Mons would have made this a lot easier without me even being overleveled (21 Rare Candies would make Mirage, Eeveeto and Mosqueton grow to level 72 each), but the game didn,t give me the posibility. As a good villain, it was Ghetsis who actually defeated me, not Juniper.

The challenge is considered lost, but I will finish the game anyway. In the next post I will beat Juniper without worrying about losing, since I already did it. I will also see what post-game this game has.
