Okay, this was a little exercise that I was doing earlier, and I'd like to see everyone else's lists.
Here, you should list your favorite album from each year 1965 and on (when the album really became a big deal). You can start later or earlier if you want. It's a fun little exercise. Include description if you want (I'll be editing my post later to do so), but you don't have to.
1965: Highway 61 Revisited - Bob Dylan
Believe it or not, this one is pretty tough. You have my the best album by Bob Dylan and the best album by The Beatles (Rubber Soul). Then to make things worse you have another great album by Bob Dylan (Bringing It All Back Home) and another great album by The Beatles (Help!). John Coltrane's A Love Supreme and Otis Redding's Otis Blue/Otis Redding Sings Soul aren't too shabby, either.
1966: Revolver - The Beatles
Revolver's a champ, but Bob Dylan's Blonde On Blonde is stiff competition. Oh, and friggin' The Beach Boys' Pet Sounds.
1967: The Who Sell Out - The Who
The Beatles' Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band is absent, yes, but what I came closer to giving victory was The Velvet Underground And Nico.
1968: Electric Ladyland - The Jimi Hendrix Experience
A week year, but The Kinks Are The Village Green Preservation Society along with the winner save it.
1969: The Velvet Underground - The Velvet Underground
Did I just give this the win over The Beatles' Abbey Road? You bet I did. Other contenders were Miles Davis's In A Silent Way, The Kinks' Arthur or The Decline And Fall Of The British Empire, and The Rolling Stones' Let It Bleed.
1970: Layla And Other Assorted Love Songs - Derek And The Dominos
1971: John Prine - John Prine
1972: Exile On Main St - The Rolling Stones
1973: Quadrophenia - The Who
1974: Pretzel Logic - Steely Dan

1977: Marquee Moon - Television
1978: Jesus Of Cool - Nick Lowe
1979: London Calling - The Clash
1980: Remain In Light - Talking Heads
1981: Wild Gift - X
1982: Thriller - Michael Jackson
