Introduction

hey y'all! this is my first rmt here, and i feel like i've finally played and lurked enough to ask for some cc!! i've fooled around w/ this team a whole lot, and i'm pretty happy with it rn. i am pretty new to showdown in general, so i'd rly appreciate any help i can get :)

Teambuilding Process

i basically made a team when i first started playing, then read up on a bunch of teambuilding stuff, completely re-did it, and then tweaked it abt 80 times. This wasn't really made with a specific role in mind, as when i started teambuilding i wasn't too aware of anything in meta.

The Team

Magearna @ Leftovers
Ability: Soul-Heart
EVs: 228 HP / 48 SpA / 232 SpD
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 6 Spe
- Heart Swap
- Heal Bell
- Fleur Cannon
- Volt Switch

magearna somehow constantly surprises xerneas users, and is super nice for tanking some hits. she can also heal some of my attackers so they can go back out and finish their job. great at switch-ins, fleur cannon hits real hard and most people don't seem to realize that it can ko. heart swap is probably her best move, as she can tank a hit from almost all boosted mons, then steal their boosts and ko. this is esp. great for xerneas.

Arceus-Ground @ Earth Plate
Ability: Multitype
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Judgment
- Recover
- Calm Mind
- Ice Beam

my absolute fave! can take hits, ohko a bunch of super overused mons, and usually finds time to recover or get a boost. super fast, hits so hard, has great coverage. arceus-ground has been on my team for almost the whole time, i see this mon as absolutely essential. 1-2hkos groudon, necrozma, lucario, almost any dragon types, just rly kills everybody.

Aegislash @ Leftovers
Ability: Stance Change
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 SpD
Sassy Nature
IVs: 0 Spe
- King's Shield
- Toxic
- Shadow Ball
- Gyro Ball

aegislash comes from me not having enough tanks, and i think it fills its role real well. it can stall out even attackers that hit it super-effectively. he does get hit hard every once in a while, and it rly messes w me. toxic-king's shield are rly useful when i want to save some attackers for later and/or my team is weak to that mon

Yveltal @ Life Orb
Ability: Dark Aura
EVs: 252 SpA / 32 SpD / 224 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Dark Pulse
- Oblivion Wing
- Toxic
- Taunt

yveltal does his job pretty well, but cannot really break out of that role when i really need him. he usually ohkos threats like marshadow/other ghost types, but he almost always end up dying to his life orb in about or two hits. does not take hits well. yveltal hits hard, and falls hard.

Palkia @ Life Orb
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Mild Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Hydro Pump
- Thunder
- Spacial Rend
- Focus Blast

palkia is one of the best attackers i've got, if i can keep him alive. the moveset is pretty well balanced, and super effective moves pretty reliably 2hko. almost all of these moves are rly unreliable, though, and sometimes i'll just miss five moves in a row until he goes down. altogether, rly powerful hits and pretty good at handling switch-ins.

Deoxys-Speed @ Focus Sash
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 248 HP / 8 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Spikes
- Stealth Rock
- Magic Coat
- Taunt

suicide lead, pretty standard deoxys-s. i love magic coat, as most other hazard setters expect a taunt or hazarads immediately. i had thunder shock for a bit, but i find that taunt is more useful to stop sweepers. a little bit of a waste if i use him incorrectly, but i don't think there's another hazard setter that goes w/ my team

Conclusion

ok that's it ty for reading all of this! again, i'd love some tips on what i can do to better my team. pls don't yell at me if i'm clearly screwing something up real bad lol.

Hi, cool team. Really really good for your first one. Welcome to smogon.

A few suggestions you might not mind:

Pdon >> mag. Specifically the mixed rp set. This lets you sweep offense teams better and keeps a second xern check.

Sucker punch>>> toxic on yvetal. Lets you deal with offensive threats better and kill necrozema sets with impunity.

Focus punch > focus miss on palk. Lets you punish select switch ins like blissey better. (I think you meant this anyway seeing the naive nature).

A suggestion you wont like:
Swords dance groundceus would help you against ho-oh late game and would mesh with your team better. You could also run head smash on aeg if you do not want this.

Groudon @ Red Orb
Ability: Drought
EVs: 252 SpA / 100 SpD / 156 Spe
Mild Nature
- Rock Polish
- Precipice Blades
- Fire Blast
- Hidden Power [Ice]

Arceus-Ground @ Groundium Z
Ability: Multitype
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge
- Recover

Aegislash @ Leftovers
Ability: Stance Change
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SpA / 252 SpD
Sassy Nature
IVs: 0 Spe
- King's Shield
- Toxic
- Gyro Ball
- Shadow Ball

Yveltal @ Life Orb
Ability: Dark Aura
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Mild Nature
- Dark Pulse
- Oblivion Wing
- Taunt
- Sucker Punch

Palkia @ Life Orb
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Mild Nature
- Hydro Pump
- Spacial Rend
- Thunder
- Focus Punch

Deoxys-Speed @ Focus Sash
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Stealth Rock
- Taunt
- Magic Coat
- Spikes

All very good points from mack, if suggest to swap out slash for spdf dusk as your rocker, and then swap out deo speed for a scarf xern, as your marsh, ygod and ultra mu isn't too hot after changes from mack, even with the sucker punch change.

i think i'm gonna try this set out, tysm! i think having pgroud in replace for mag is gonna rly help me be more balanced offense (i think that's what this is lol)

i feel like kind of an idiot, but i kind of don't get what ur saying in ur last little bit, is that like a comment on my yveltal's ability? sorry!!

i might think abt switching in dusk mane, but i do really like my aegislash rn. i'll def think abt those as i play some games and figure out what i'm weak to. thanks dude!

Mack suggested to put sucker punch on yveltal, to help with ultra necrozma, which otherwise has a field day with this team, but even with , your still weak to it as sucker doesn't kill from full, so what I'm saying is in scarf xern over deo speed as a reliable way to kill ultra, while also being able to kill marsh and yveltal, some other threats, also gives you a cleric because you can run aromatherapy. But if you make this change, you're forced to run dusk mane over aegislash, as u need a stealth rocker and arc fairy check
