It's been 400 years...but we finally get our second (non-VGC) Online Competition for Scarlet & Violet!
Registration starts on October 2nd, and games run from October 6th through the 8th.
(all times are at 0:00 UTC)
Ruleset: 4v4 Doubles, only Pokemon in the Kitakami Regional Dex are allowed
The shtick for the Kitakami Cup is that only Pokemon from the Kitakami Regional Dex are allowed in games of 4v4 Doubles! As this is a small pool of mons, it looks like it'll be really interesting.

Here is a list of all fully-evolved Pokemon in the Dex, as well as any pre-evolved forms that could be viable for use. I'm just entering them in by Dex order, but this should be a good way to quickly look over what a team can look like without scrolling over the full dex for an hour or more.

Personally, I think Sun and Rain teams will be all over the place on the ladder; between Ninetales's and Politoed's return and Ogerpon naturally synergizing with both, I'm sure they'll be quite popular. Rain especially, with Ludicolo and Basculegion in play!

Trick Room has some interesting promise too, with longtime setters such as Indeedee-F, Dusclops and Hatterene running around. The new Ursaluna form, Kingambit and Snorlax each make for potentially devastating sweepers when speed is reversed.

One last note from me: there are only four 'mons with Prankster on this list! Volbeat, Illumise and Riolu can each set up both Sunny Day and Rain Dance; Grimmsnarl can't set up weather manually, but it's always been screens support first and foremost.

Ladder is up on PS! if you want to try out some teams before the main event.

What teams do you think will do well?
What do you think the meta will look like?
Why are Maushold and Annihilape directly beside each other in the Pokedex?

I put together a hard TR team with Gyarados / Indeedee / Grimmsnarl / Hatterene / Sinistcha / Ursaluna-B. Haven't tested it yet though. I think this is my first online official competition since 2016 so this will be fun.

The major archetypes I'm expecting, and respecting in my own teambuilding, are
Rain: :politoed: + :ludicolo::basculegion::drednaw:
Sun: :ninetales: + :ogerpon-hearthflame: (maybe :victreebel: as a chlorophyll option. STAB poison is nice into ogerpon)
Trick Room: :hatterene::sinistcha::dusclops: (maybe:indeedee-f::mimikyu::chandelure::bronzong:) + :ursaluna-bloodmoon::conkeldurr::vikavolt:(+ assorted midspeed mons)
Focused Setup: :clefairy::sinistcha::grimmsnarl: + :kommo-o::snorlax::kingambit::okidogi::ogerpon:(all forms, but mostly fire/water). Additionally :maushold::annihilape:will surely be common as a duo

And some general good mons I expect to be common, filling out teams or for general balanced stuff
Intimidate::arcanine::gyarados:
Bulky or fast attackers::kingambit::garchomp::ogerpon:(all)
tailwind::mandibuzz::illumise: (+ :shiftry: maybe, though I don't think its too good)
I also think :mienshao: sees usage for fake out+inner focus and its good speed tier.
:milotic: will almost certainly be seen for competitive, but won't be too threatening.
:glimmora: I think has a lot of potential, both in offense and utility.
