Nihilego @ Power Herb
Ability: Beast Boost
EVs: 80 HP / 176 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Meteor Beam
- Sludge Wave
- Thunderbolt / Power Gem
- Grass Knot
Despite Galarian Moltres leaving the tier, hyper offense is still viable in part because of threatening sweepers like Nihilego. Nihilego can easily find opportunities to fire off Meteor Beam in front of common Pokemon such as Salamence, Mandibuzz, and Moltres. Coupled with the given EV spread, which allows Beast Boost to raise Speed after every KO, it is capable of quickly snowballing games by blowing past offensive checks such as Azelf and Zarude. Thunderbolt provides crucial coverage against Keldeo, Slowking, and Celesteela; however, Power Gem can be used as a more reliable STAB move that targets the aforementioned Salamence and Thundurus-T. Boosted Grass Knot ensures an OHKO against Swampert after Stealth Rock and severely damages Hippowdon. Nihilego fits on hyper offense teams with entry hazard leads such as Excadrill and Scolipede to wear down defensive Pokemon such as Hippowdon, Aegislash, and Assault Vest Tangrowth. Nihilego also requires support against Chansey, Scizor, and Cobalion, so partners that can overwhelm them such as Azelf and Aegislash are appreciated.
