yeah for sure. I'm sorry but I'll have to say the stars aligned for Vika two years in a row. Clijsters getting injured amongst other variables in 2012, and Serena getting injured and Na getting injured TWICE in the final this year. Smh.
I can't think of multiple slam champion with a less imposing game and less generic than Azarenka, who just grinds away at the baseline. And what I mean by that is she excels at nothing. I guess being a jack of all trade isn't necessarily a bad thing but I'll just never understand how she wins those slams. She definitely redirects the ball very well at her peak but that's about it. Technically unsound serve, merely respectable groundstrokes (for a player who has won multiple slams), mediocre movement, average touch. She doesn't even have the best return, which is what she's most renowned for tbh. She's merely consistent with them.
I love Jennifer Capriati, but Azarenka might be the least imposing multiple slam champion since Jen, who also happened to be a jack of all trade, master of none. But I really appreciate Jen because she showed off her talent at the age of like 14, reaching a slam Semi, went through tough times, came back, changed up her game and still amanged to win 3 slams.
