Mixed Mega Lucario fills a valuable niche as the easiest way to bypass Fur Coat Mega Audino, Mega Slowbro, and Celesteela in a single teamslot. Sunsteel Strike deals solid damage even without Choice Band; every non-resistant foe bar Giratina takes over 50%, meaning allies that can block Strength Sap can deny foes like most Arceus formes healing of any value, and it OHKOes Mega Audino after any chip damage. Electro Drift OHKOes the two most common Sunsteel Strike answers, being Celesteela and Mega Slowbro. Strength Sap provides reliable healing to offset Life Orb recoil, especially given that no Strength Sap blocker wants to come near Mega Lucario, while Tidy Up provides some entry hazard removal and gives Mega Lucario a late-game sweeping option. Mega Lucario's best fit is on more offensive teams looking for a tool to pave the way for dangerous allies like Tidy Up Mega Garchomp and Sniper Ash-Greninja. The exclusive use of contact moves means an unexpected Burning Bulwark can instantly kill any hopes of Mega Lucario doing acceptable damage, so Imposter users can prove useful to scout for it. Mega Lucario also struggles to beat faster Strength Sap users, such as Arceus formes, Miraidon, and Eternatus, one-on-one; as a result, a Strength Sap-blocking teammate like Magic Guard Blissey is highly recommended. Imposter-proof Mega Lucario with a faster Fur Coat user that ideally resists Steel, such as Arceus-Fire or Miraidon.

Tough Claws Mega Lucario fills a valuable niche as the easiest way to bypass Fur Coat Mega Audino, Mega Slowbro, and Celesteela in a single team slot feels like missing some stuff? not clear what is meant by "easiest way to bypass" because technically speaking a spa would also do the same, also should probably mention a distinction to the standard band set. Sunsteel Strike deals solid damage even without a Choice Band; every non-resistant foe bar Giratina takes over 50%, meaning allies that can block Strength Sap can prevent foes like most Arceus formes from healing, and it OHKOes Mega Audino after any chip damage. Electro Drift OHKOes the two most common Sunsteel Strike answers, being Celesteela and Mega Slowbro. Strength Sap provides reliable healing to offset Life Orb recoil, especially given that no Magic Bounce user can be generalized to sapblocker since it beats every sapblocker wants to come near it, while Tidy Up provides some entry hazard removal and gives Mega Lucario a late-game sweeping option. Mega Lucario's best fit is on more offensive teams looking for a tool to pave the way for dangerous allies like Tidy Up Mega Garchomp and Sniper Ash-Greninja. Imposter-proof Mega Lucario with a faster Fur Coat user such as Arceus-Ghost FC doesn't matter for Ghostceus or Miraidon.

i say this because while a spatk mon does the same thing, it has an entire other mon (scales mon) to actually get through before it can do its job of breaking down physical walls, whereas lucario is simply less likely to have that secondary mon to have to pick up first / forces opponent to have to make concessions with non-wall checks much easier. it'd be like saying band kyu-b is a great ally for beating scales maud for your arc-ghost; yeah you kill maud if it lets you, but there's a whole other mon you have to get through (the fc wall) before the opponent has no choice but to have maud get hit, which is a lot less convenient than eg. etern which just starts blasting right away and can take advantage of a shakier secondary check.
