Yawndozo (Dondozo) [QC 1/2]

[SET]
Supportive Yawn Attacker (Dondozo) @ Leftovers
Level: 50
Ability: Oblivious
EVs: 172 HP / 84 Atk / 4 Def / 244 SpD / 4 Spe
Tera Type: Fairy / Fire / Grass
Adamant Nature
- Wave Crash
- Heavy Slam
- Yawn
- Protect

[SET COMMENTS]
* With Incredible HP and Solid Physical Defense, Dondozo can slot in as a defensive menace on some teams. "Yawndozo" specifically can be very troubling for opponents, even without the usual support from Tatsugiri. "Yawndozo" synergizes especially well with Sand Tomb Ting-Lu. The ability to trap and damage your opponents while consistently putting them to sleep can be a deadly combo.

* Wave Crash is Dondozo's most powerful STAB option for consistent damage. Wave Crash also allows you to threaten massive damage into common meta threats such as Chi-Yu, Incineroar, and Landorus.

* Heavy Slam is extremely valuable for the ability to OHKO Flutter Mane and Chien-Pao. Heavy Slam also gives coverage to hit Articuno and Ninetales-A.

* Yawn allows for the consistent slowing down of your opponents by usually forcing them to switch. Yawn is also very good into setup sweepers, such as Dragon Dance Gouging Fire, or any other mon looking to setup like Kommo-o.

* Yawn is also great for the added benefit of working on common meta grass types like Ogerpon-W, Ogerpon-H, Rillaboom, and Ammonguss. It also allows you to hit Safety Goggles holders like Farigiraf and Raging Bolt.

* Leftovers is the best item here for the ability to consistently heal back Dondozo's health when its opponents are asleep. Leftovers healing can also stack really nicely with Grassy Terrain recovery for some solid healing. Rillaboom is another mon that synergizes well with Dondozo because of this.

* The investment in Special Bulk gives Dondozo a better matchup into Flutter, Gholdengo, Sylveon, Ursaluna-B, and other special attackers. The HP investment allows you to survive one 252 Atk Jolly Nature Ogerpon-W Wood Hammer.

* You have a choice between 3 defensive tera types for this set, Fairy, Fire, and Grass. Fairy is just a really solid defensive type, Fire is good for turning the matchup on Flutter Mane and Gholdengo, and Grass is good for the resistance to Grass and Electric along with an immunity to Spore from Ammonguss, which usually gives Dondozo trouble.

[OVERVIEW]
* With incredible HP and solid physical defense, Dondozo can slot in as an offensive threat and a bulky wall on many teams (very few teams slot in solo dozo, I know you're trying to sell it here but saying it works on defensive teams is fine) , even without the support of Tatsugiri. Thanks to access to both Unaware and Oblivious, you can find the perfect Dondozo for your specific team (Does solo dozo even run unaware?).

* Dondozo works similar to Ting-Lu in the sense that it can wall many meta threats like Urshfiu-R Urshifu-R, Chein-Pao Chien-Pao, and to some extent, Urshifu-S. But of course, Dondozo has that ever-so-valuable weapon of 100% accurate sleep, that even works on grass types (you go on to state this anyway). The fact that yYawn can be used on grass types helps to slow down Ogerpon-W and Ogerpon-H. Dondozo can really shine along (this all feels speculative, I do not see bloodmoon, farigiraf or kommo o being paired with dozo from labmaus and not mentioning ting lu is criminal) side other mons such as Farigarf Farigiraf and Ursaluna-Bloodmoon, and can also shine along other niche picks like Kommo-o as a supporter to Trick Room (Dozo is not a tr mon though??).

* Dondozo tends to struggle with special attackers though, mons like Flutter Mane and Gholdengo can give Dondozo trouble. Gholdengo is especially a threat due to its immunity to yawn thanks to Good as Gold. Despite this, Dondozo can persevere with a defensive tera type, such as fire, to deal with these two specifically, and it gives it a better matchup into Rillaboom, which previously gave it some trouble.

[SET]
Offensive Sweeper (Dondozo) @ Clear Amulet / @ Rocky Helmet / @ Leftovers
Level: 50
Ability: Unaware
EVs: 4 HP / 156 Atk / 20 Def / 76 SpD / 252 Spe
Tera Type: Grass
Adamant Nature
- Wave Crash
- Order Up
- Earthquake
- Protect

[SET COMMENTS]
* Wave Crash is Dondozo's most reliable moves, it allows for OHKOs into mons like Gholdengo and Tornadus. Earthquake bypasses follow me from Ogerpon-W, Indeedee, and Clefairy, and it provides a strong spread move that picks off weaker foes.

* Rocky Helmet breaks sash on Chien-Pao and Urshifu-S, Clear Amulet provides support against Incineroar, Landorus-T, and Arcanine-H, while Leftovers provides general support that can stack with Grassy terrain for some pretty solid healing.

* 20 Defense EVs ensure that Sacred Sword from Chien-Pao is a 4HKO and allow Dondozo to survive two Wicked Blows from Urshifu-S. The SpD allows for the survival of two tera-fairy choice specs moonblasts from Flutter. The Atk EVs let you OHKO Urshifu-S with Wave Crash after Rocky Helmet.

* This Dondozo set can function as a stronger alternative to Ting-Lu, allowing you to put pressure on your opponent while also setting up an annoying wall.

* Tera grass gives you a resistance to grass and electric, also it gives you an immunity to spore from Ammonguss, which would usually be an issue for Dondozo.

[SET COMMENTS]
* Wave Crash allows Dondozo to OHKO Ogerpon-H and Urshfiu-S, along with supplying a consistent damage output into many other common meta threats.

* Heavy Slam is extremely valuable for the ability to OHKO Flutter Mane and bring frail mons like Chien-Pao down to their pesky focus sashes.

* The investment in Special Bulk gives Dondozo a better matchup into Flutter, Gholdengo, Sylveon, Ursaluna-Bloodmoon, and other special attackers.

* Yawn allows for the consistent slowing down of your opponents and usually forcing them to switch, allowing you to capitalize on a weary switch-in. Yawn is also very good into mons preparing a swords dance or a nasty plot, such as Ogerpon-W, or any other mon looking to setup like Kommo-o or Snorlax.

* Yawn Dondozo functions similarly to Gastrodon, but offers significantly more offensive pressure and lets you deal with common meta threats with some offensive punch, which Gastrodon can't really do that effectively.

Overall, I think it should be clear when you talk about yawn and when you talk about the dozogiri set.

* With Incredible HP and Solid Physical Defense, Dondozo can slot in as a defensive menace on many teams (not really, very few teams utilize yawn dondozo). "Yawndozo" specifically can be very troubling for opponents, even without the usual support from Tatsugiri.

* "Yawndozo" functions similarly to Gastrodon, but offers significantly more offensive pressure and lets you deal with common meta threats with some offensive punch, which Gastrodon can't really do that effectively (don't talk about gastrodon, it's not a good pokemon in gen 9 so many getting introduced to vgc will not know of it's 2022 niche). Dondozo also works as a more offensive alternative to Ting-Lu. (Huh? Ting-Lu is the most common partner for Yawn Dondozo so saying it's a more offensive alternative suggests they aren't used on the same team).

* Wave Crash allows Dondozo to OHKO Ogerpon-H and Urshfiu-S ( 84+ Atk Dondozo Wave Crash vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Ogerpon-Hearthflame: 94-112 (60.6 - 72.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO, 84+ Atk Dondozo Wave Crash vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Urshifu-Single Strike: 82-97 (46.8 - 55.4%) -- 72.7% chance to 2HKO and these two pokemon are kinda irrelevant for wave crash calcs anyway, the former only drops when terastallized. Wave Crash is just the most powerful STAB option Dondozo has for consistent damage) , along with supplying a consistent damage output into many other common meta threats like Incineroar, Landorus, and Chi-yu.

* Heavy Slam is extremely valuable for the ability to OHKO Flutter Mane and can bring frail mons like Chien-Pao down to their pesky Focus Sashes. Heavy Slam also gives coverage to hit Iron Bundle and Articuno and Ninetales-A. On the contrary, Order Up is very good, even without the boost from Tatusgiri, to hit Walking Wake, Gouging Fire, and Raging bolt, three big threats to dondozo. (I am unsure on Order Up, has Dondozo used this move enough to justify it's placement on the analysis set? If not, please don't speculate, Wave Crash already does more damage to Gouging Fire, Walking Wake is not common enough to justify Order Up, and Raging Bolt beats Yawn Dondozo, with or without Order Up plus Ting-Lu is it's best partner.)

* Yawn allows for the consistent slowing down of your opponents and by usually forcing them to switch, allowing you to capitalize on a weary switch-in (a bit informal but also implied that if you're slowing opponents down, you get time to do other things which can be emphasised later in the paragraph). Yawn is also very good into mons preparing a swords dance or a nasty plot setup sweepers, such as Ogerpon-W (why this one, it's mainly a follow me user), or any other mon looking to setup like Kommo-o or Snorlax (No one runs snorlax). Yawn is also great for the added benefit of working on Grass types and Pokemon holding Safety Goggles. (This should either be a seperate point where you elaborate about certain pokemon that are examples of how Yawn can be used more effectively than spore or just not mentioned as on it's own it's simply repeating dex info.)

* Leftovers is the best item here for the ability to consistently heal back Dondozo's health when its opponents are asleep. Leftovers healing can also stack really nicely with Grassy Terrain recovery for some solid healing (You never mentioned rilla as a partner tho?).

* The investment in Special Bulk gives Dondozo a better matchup into Flutter, Gholdengo, Sylveon, Ursaluna-Bloodmoon, and other special attackers. The HP investment allows you to survive one 252 Atk Jolly Nature Ogerpon-W Wood Hammer.

* You have a choice between 3 defensive tera types for this set, Fairy, Fire, and Grass. Fairy is really good to flip the matchup on Flutter and Chien-Pao (what?), Fire is also good for Flutter as well, along with as Gholdengo, and Grass is good for the resistance to Grass and Electiric Electric, along with an immunity to Spore from Ammonguss, which usually gives Dondozo trouble.

(You haven't mentioned Ting-Lu and the synergy of Yawn and Sand tomb, the bad ogerpon-w and raging bolt matchup, and Oblivious as an ability to prevent intimidate and taunt. Also mention the teams it fits on.)

Sorry, but we'll unfortunately have to QC reject this. It will require significantly more effort to quality check this and puts me in a co-writer position, when we could just reassign this. SoulBoyVGC has highlighted most of them and it shows that you don't know much about the Pokemon and the metagame (Wave Crash calcs and Fairy's descriptions in particular). Please don't take this as a sign to not write again, I encourage everyone to write, but please learn more for future analysis <3. You can PM me on Smogon or Discord (my tag is lameliarluna if you have any questions!
