Ah, the wonders of the Alola region. Its curious local topography, of course, its unmistakable Trial Captains, too, and of course, its guardians. The Tapus are known worldwide for their power and legends.
And this is why you're here today! Not for the Tapus themselves, of course, how could you even get your hands on such a rare being? No, you're here for the annual Akala Festival, held to honor Tapu Lele. Of course, the other islands have their own festivals, but this particular season is for Akala.
You wanted a break after your recent tribulations, and what better way to reward yourself than shooting at cans and eating all the cotton candy you can before passing out at the hotel, your head still filled with colors and noise?
And you're not alone, either! You brought two of your trusty Pokémon alongside you, who deserve a reward as well. You're all going to have fun together!
That was the plan, but, uh...
Turning towards your Pokémon to ask them where they wanted to go first, you realize... they were not behind you anymore, like they were supposed to be.
And the crowd's dense, too. This is a popular festival, after all. Running around won't solve much, so you'll have to have faith in them and hope they can come back to you!

Figures that those two would be the ones to get lost. Tracking down Bun is definitely the top priority. Knowing him, he's probably not handling the crowds too well... I think I can hear him yelling, yep. (Crying too?) If Finkleberg isn't with him, then I'll see if I can find any clues that'll help me track him down afterwards. I just hope that Finkleberg's not getting himself into trouble in the meantime...

Finding your Lopunny wasn't too hard: the noise was enough to create some kind of commotion, and you fly to the rescue in the middle of a circle of very concerned people. With that one out of the way (and profuse apologies for the inconvenience), it's time to look for Shiinotic, who's a bit less conspicuous.
However, after a little bit, you notice glowy marks on the floor. It's your Shiinotic's spores!
Following them, despite the many twists and turns they take, you get to the outer edge of the festival, a bit far from people... and you can see a familiar-looking mushroom dome. It's your Pokémon!

Winning the battle did little to assuage the Gligar, battered and bruised as it is.

The Sliggoo does seem a bit steadier on its... Well it seems a bit steadier, in any case. After scolding you a bit and making you promise not to let loose spores everywhere since it bothers both festival enjoyers and staff (apparently it counts as littering so you could be fined!), they let you go and resume their task.

Finally! You'll be able to actually enjoy the festival! You wander among the stalls, taking a bite here, playing a neat game there, looking at the lights, marveling at the street attractions, making sure the cotton candy isn't sticking to your Lopunny's fur oh god it's going to be so hard to remove this isn't it like seriously do you know how difficult it is to remove sugar from this I swear next time you get a candied apple...
You even spot Kiawe among the crowd, wearing a staff jacket. Huh. You've heard there would be fireworks later, maybe that's why he's here. Or maybe he's going to perform one of his special dances? Either way, he's probably here for the crux of the show.

That said, now's not the time to be thinking about Kiawe. You've spot it. You know, IT. A life-sized plushie of Tapu Lele, hanging at one of the stalls. Oh yeah. That's the one. If you're going to get home with a souvenir, it's going to be this one. Beelining for the stall in question, you notice cookware equipment laying around. That's... original?
As you come even closer, you can see a set of rules nailed to a wooden post. Your goal appears right in front of your eyes.
It's some sort of amateur, freeform cooking show. You have everything you need to prepare everything you want. Utensils, appliances, name it, you've got it (how they managed to bring out the oven is not to be dwelled upon). Please all four judges enough to get 10s across the board, and the Tapu Lele plush is yours. Pokémon are allowed.

nightblitz42 you need to prepare one Gordon Ramsay-tier of a recipe. How will you do it?

"I think I saw how to make a roast chicken by watching the Cooking Channel. Let's see, they should have some chicken here somewhere..."

Bun reaches for a frozen chicken in the freezer, but Finkleberg stops him and points towards another chicken in the very back.

"No, not that one; use this one. I can still feel some residual life energy from within it. For the creature's carcass to still have that much life energy, it must have been extremely healthy and full of spirit while it was alive. A discerning judge will surely be able to appreciate the difference."
"Uh, sure. Thanks. Now, let's see... butter, Parmesan, oil..."
"How about some mushrooms? Morelull are known for their delicious mushroom caps, you know. You won't find any pre-packaged mushrooms in this stall that can compare to the taste of fresh Morelull!"
"But where would we find Morelull caps?"

With a wave of her hand, Finkleberg spawns a cluster of mushrooms on top of the chicken.

Shiinotic: Uses vitality-manipulation (Ultra Sun Pokedex) to find high-quality meat. Uses Ingrain (or Leech Seed?) to grow mushrooms as ingredients.
Lopunny: Will present the dish to the judges. Background (affinity for performing), along with the move Charm.

With fire in your soul, you start preparing everything you need. Shiinotic looks for the meat... and finds it, apparently, given how it suddenly rushes to a few breasts.
Now to prepare something nice. Cook the chicken, then swap it for the mushrooms... Hey, where did those mushrooms come from, and why does Shiinotic look so pleased with itself?
Then butter and garlic and cream and, obviously, parmesan.
The dish is simple, but it looks and smells tasty. Lopunny brings it to the judges, trying to stack the odds in your favor with a bit of Charm, but the judges' gaze is firmly on the dish itself. Oh well.
They taste it, and... the reaction is immediate. All tens. There wasn't even a debate.
