Project What's Their Last? v2 [Week 24: Voting phase]

Congratulations Smallsmallrose for winning this week. The original Pokemon was Infernape to help the team pressure steel types + gives another Scizor check. As you all realised the stall matchup could be improved too, so I loved all the submissions this week. Thank you Amane Misa for providing the team last week and everyone who participated!

Here is the team being featured for Week 13:

Scizor @ Iron Plate
Ability: Technician
EVs: 252 HP / 156 Atk / 24 Def / 64 SpD / 12 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance
- Bullet Punch
- U-turn
- Roost

Hippowdon @ Leftovers
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 252 HP / 76 Def / 180 SpD
Impish Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Toxic
- Slack Off

Terrakion @ Fightinium Z
Ability: Justified
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Stone Edge
- Close Combat
- Earthquake
- Swords Dance

Crawdaunt @ Choice Band
Ability: Adaptability
EVs: 152 HP / 252 Atk / 104 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Aqua Jet
- Liquidation
- Knock Off
- Superpower

Manectric-Mega @ Manectite
Ability: Lightning Rod
EVs: 112 HP / 252 SpA / 144 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Thunderbolt
- Volt Switch
- Overheat
- Hidden Power [Ice]

"This a bulky offence sand balance with Crawdaunt as the main breaker and two seepers that have the potential to serve as breakers in their own right. The team relies on pressuring with the right mons and getting into favourable positions using the Voltturn core of Scizor + MegaMane. Hippo primarily serves as the glue/pivot point for this team, switching into threats like Coba, Maero etc. Manecs EVs allow it to survive a few non-choice attacks like Draco Meteor while still outspeeding Mega Pidgeot. Tentacruel @ Black Sludge
Ability: Clear Body
EVs: 252 HP / 112 Def / 144 Spe
Timid Nature
- Scald
- Rapid Spin
- Haze
- Sludge Bomb

The team's Scizor matchup could still botch a little bit if Mane doesn't get the window to Mega-evo early and it can still suffer from chip. The team also has immense struggles against Primarina, and is still lacking in a fighting resist. A better scald switchin would also likely be appreciated, lastly, the team currently doesn't possess hazard removal. What ticks all these boxes at once? Tentacruel!

Rose already took the best option tbh so the next best thing i could think of.

Hydreigon @ Dread Plate
Ability: Levitate
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Defog
- Dark Pulse
- Draco Meteor
- Roost

The team currently posses no hazard removal, which hydreigon offers. It also offers a ground immunity, and a crawdaunt check (even more important when using a slower daunt set that can't speed tie it), and coupled with scizor can deal with both dazzling gleam and hp fire celebi variants.

Only took me like a year to come up with a plausible submission, but here we go.

Mantine @ Leftovers
Ability: Water Absorb
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Scald
- Defog
- Roost
- Toxic

Obviously Tentacruel is the best pick here, but I think Mantine could have some merit. Mantine softchecks Primarina, while offering hazard control, as well as checking Fighting Types, which this team does not enjoy at all. Mantine also handles non-knock off Scizor, which is a huge relief off of Manectric, and also forms a decent defensive backbone w/ Hippowdon.

Also that descriptions grammar is so poor that I'm convinced I know who's team this is...

Congratulations Smallsmallrose for winning yet again this week with your Tentacruel. The original Pokemon was Togekiss to give the team a better matchup against Hydreigon and Krook + provided Defog support. Tentacruel was a really nice idea for helping more with the Scizor and fighting matchup which the team can have issues with. Thank you Kink for providing the team last week, much appreciated. Well done everyone else who submitted something this week too.

Here is the team being featured for Week 14:

Pidgeot-Mega @ Pidgeotite

Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Hurricane
- Roost
- Refresh
- Work Up

Krookodile @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 16 HP / 232 Atk / 8 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Superpower
- Earthquake
- Pursuit
- Knock Off

Diancie @ Normalium Z
Ability: Clear Body
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Atk / 252 SpD
Sassy Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Heal Bell
- Stealth Rock
- Moonblast
- Toxic

Amoonguss @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 244 Def / 12 Spe
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 30 SpA / 30 Spe
- Spore
- Giga Drain
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Clear Smog

Mantine @ Leftovers
Ability: Water Absorb
EVs: 248 HP / 240 Def / 20 SpD
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Scald
- Haze
- Roost
- Defog

"I started this build w/ work up refresh Pidge + krook, as that in turn made a very annoying offensive core for slower teams to deal with, especially considering rotom-h and empo, two mons that lose to this pidge set, are the flying resists of choice on those teams. Diancie is entirely there for role compression of a flying resist, draco switchin, cm lati check, cleric and rocker in one slot. Amoonguss is the backup scizor answer + pivot into cb terrak + general defensive sponge. Mantine is coba check + volc check + defog + second ground resist since pidgeot doesn't rlly count + actual prima switchin pre-rocks. What's My Last?"

Rotom-Heat @ Wiki Berry
Ability: Levitate
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 236 HP / 24 SpA / 248 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Defog
- Overheat
- Volt Switch
- Pain Split

As it stands currently, the team has a shakey mamoswine matchup, with everything except mantine being hit supereffectively by one of it's stabs, and mantine being 2hkoed by icicle crash from life orb sets.

With mantine as the only source of hazard control on the team, it's ability to act as a check to stuff like scizor, primarina and coba is much reduced, as swapping in can be very costly if doubles/u-turns are played, and against primarina rocks flat out put you into 2hko range of moonblast.

Rotom-heat helps with this by providing a secondary source of hazard control, a mamoswine check, and an extra scizor check should your amoongus be caught by a buginium-z set or just be generally chipped into range of a kill. It also helps chip/kill bulky steels for the refresh pidgeot.

Pain split was chosen over toxic in last slot to allow rotom-heat to deal with mamoswine easier, especially if its wiki berry gets knocked off.

Doublade @ Eviolite
Ability: No Guard
EVs: 240 HP / 252 Atk / 16 SpD
IVs: 0 Spe
Brave Nature
- Swords Dance
- Gyro Ball / Iron Head
- Shadow Claw / Sacred Sword
- Shadow Sneak

Doublade gives the team an actual wallbreaker, steel to help Diancie tackle Latias, and finally check Terrakion for the team. It also helps circumvent Blissey completely for Mega Pidgeot, letting it set up more effectively.

Cresselia @ Colbur Berry
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 240 Def / 16 Spe
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Psyshock
- Moonblast
- Moonlight
- Calm Mind
The team's Aerodactyl-Mega matchup is nearly unwinnable, and the Mamoswine matchup could stand for improvement. The Terrakion matchup also isn't too great, Nor is the team's Crawdaunt matchup. The team also really doesn't have any winning method beyond Mega Pidgeot. Cresselia adds a massive wall to the team that can handle many of the physical attacker threats that trouble it. It has a surprisingly good Crawdaunt matchup, especially with colbur, and can do wonders against Aerodactyl and Mamoswine, absolutely hard-walling them. The Terrakion matchup is eased up here too, with it being able to handle the fightinium set well and the Band set decently. It can at worst wear down other Terrakion sets to the point that a faster teammate could easily secure the KO. It also adds a wincon against various teams where Pidgeot might not be enough.

Congratulations Sickist for winning this week with your Doublade submission. The original Pokemon was Magneton to help remove Scizor and be a blanket answer to the steel types in the tier for Pidgeot to sweep. Doublade fulfills a similar role in checking Scizor and helps more with the Latias matchup. Thank you faded love for providing the team last week, much appreciated. Well done everyone else who submitted something this week too.

Here is the team being featured for Week 15:

Slowbro-Mega @ Slowbronite

Bold Nature

- Scald
- Future Sight
- Slack Off

Rotom-Heat @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 232 HP / 8 Def / 20 SpA / 248 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Volt Switch
- Overheat
- Defog
- Toxic

Scizor @ Buginium Z
Ability: Technician
EVs: 252 HP / 56 Atk / 24 Def / 176 SpD
Adamant Nature
IVs: 28 Spe
- Swords Dance
- Bullet Punch
- U-turn
- Roost

Terrakion @ Choice Band
Ability: Justified
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Stone Edge
- Close Combat
- Earthquake
- Poison Jab

Togekiss @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Serene Grace
EVs: 192 HP / 20 Def / 44 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Air Slash
- Thunder Wave
- Roost
- Trick

"I was itching to build a good Mega Bro team so that's where I started. I wanted to have a solid gameplan against defensive teams so using Future Sight + CB Terrakion to punch holes through stuff like Almomola, Amoonguss, and the bunch. I figured Defog would be pretty nice to have but not ultra necessary in some matchups. Rotom-H sucks at defogging but it can do it in a pinch, as well as be a safe pivot for opposing Scizor, Manectric, and Moltres which are traditionally big threats to offensive balance like this. Scizor is the mandatory Steel-type, helping me deal with DD Altaria and CM Latias, since Sciz is EV'd to live a +1 Gigavolt from Lati, and can help bust through annoying stuff like Amoonguss with the Z U-turn. Lastly, a support Scarf Togekiss patches up the weakness to Hydreigon and Krookodile's STABs, while also being able to lure in some annoyances like Nihilego and Aerodactly to cut their speeds, while also being able to Trick its Scarf away to stuff like Blissey and Empoleon, which in turn supports an endgame with CM Slowbro. What's my last?"

Hippowdon @ Leftovers
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 252 HP / 80 Def / 176 SpD
Impish Nature
- Earthquake
- Slack Off
- Stealth Rock
- Whirlwind

Hippowdon, aka the greatest pokemon to grace this earth, provides the team with a much sought after electric immunity, patching up the teams massive weakness to manectric, provides stealth rocks, another scizor check, another doublade answer that doesn't involve having to prematurely mega your slowbro or get your rotom potentially shadow clawed, and offers sand to boost terraks spdef which may come in handy in certain situations.

Unlike other options such as swampert/seismitoad, it isn't weak to stray HP grass manectrics, and can't be worn down like the nido's can, doesn't stack scizor weaknesses like a rhyperior, and doesn't make the team super gengar weak like pallosand.
