You feel a chill run up your spine and a dark shadow appears in front of Charizard. Like a sea monster rising out of a lake, a Dusclops rises out of the shadow; its single eye glows red with an eerie light.

It stops just behind the Dusclops and puts its thin hand on its shoulder... or where its shoulder would be if it had one. "We simply have to delay them. At this point, even a loss is a victory for Nobunaga." Sharp, white teeth gleam beneath the ragged hood in a chilling smile.

Finally, after long last, the Dusclops falls. It hastily melts back into the shadows of a nearby building in a hurried escape. The hooded figure bows to you and gestures to the castle. "Congratulations. Nobunaga awaits you in Pugilis Fortress... that is, if you can even reach it." With a cackle, it slinks into an alleyway and disappears from sight.

Continuing down the street, you feel unnerved and anxious at the same time. Your heart beats frantically and you clench your hands into fists to stop them from shaking. Eventually, you reach the foot of the imposing fortress. It stands about three stories tall and red banners hang limp with a lack of wind. Dark storm clouds gather overhead as if in anticipation of an upcoming disturbance. Through the two sturdy double-doors that were left open in the siege, you see scattered furniture and claw marks everywhere.

Walking slowly inside, you see that the room isn't very large with a single opening in the far back and a pair of imposing-looking Pokémon watching the entrance from both sides: Duraludon and Dracozolt. You're probably better off not fighting with them since they look pretty tough. But, you still have to get to the courtyard and defeat Nobunaga somehow...

From outside the room, Lucario will use Metal Sound, and Charizard will use Bulldoze -- not strongly enough to deal damage, but enough to shake the room a bit. The awful noise and shaking might induce nausea in the guards, giving us an opportunity to slip by.

Charizard stomps the ground with gusto.
:charizard: "Man, I hope this works. Do you think they might barf if we keep this up?"
:lucario: "Maybe."
:charizard: "Haha, yeah that'd be funny. Pretty gross, too! Somebody better have a mop in this fortress, am I right?"
Charizard shows a toothy grin. Lucario briefly smiles back.


:lucario: (I had reasoned that to protect my Trainer, I'd one day need to be willing to put my life on the line. Even the weak can be strong if they don't fear death. But now, seeing young Mikhail laughing and having so much fun, I'm concerned; if I want to preserve Mikhail's bright and shining aura, then I can't die here, right? I'm already trying to protect so many things: my Trainer, my sword, my honor, the villagers... Am I strong enough to protect Mikhail, too?)
 
As Charizard stomps with a mischievous smile, the ground begins to feel wobbly like you're on a boat rocking on the ocean. You quickly grab one of the support beams for balance. Next, you and Mikhail cover your ears while Lucario brings his hands to his mouth and emits a horrid screeching that must sound even worse for the two poor dragon Pokémon who are taking the full brunt of it.

Mikhail stifles a giggle as the Dracozolt dashes out, covering its mouth with its tiny arms. It's in such a rush that it doesn't even notice you watching it from the side! Next, you see the Duraludon totter out unsteadily. It apparently loses its balance and falls flat on its face, so you take the opportunity to head back into the building quickly and out through the entryway into the central courtyard of Pugilis Fortress.

In the courtyard, you can see that there is a fighting arena on a raised platform in the center. An open ceiling reveals that the clouds are still stormy as ever. In the far corner of the arena stands Nobunaga with two exhausted-looking Pokémon beside him- his Hydreigon and Zekrom. On the side closest to you, you see Pugilis's warlord, Yoshihiro, on his knees. His defeated partner, Gurdurr, lies in front of him; it probably didn't even stand a chance.

Nobunaga smiles wickedly. "So you see, even you, the great leader of Pugilis, couldn't stop me." Then, he looks up and notices you. "Oh? What's this? It looks like this young samurai has something to say to me. Have you come to pledge your allegiance to my noble cause of uniting all of Ransei?"

You tell him no, it's actually the opposite. You have come to challenge him to a battle and defeat him so that he can't continue to wreak destruction on the other kingdoms.

To this, you only receive a patronizing smirk. "Fine, then. You shall have a battle! Let's clear this weakling out of the way first, though." His Hydreigon scoops up the Gurdurr and the Zekrom picks up Yoshihiro. Then, they drop them off on the second-story walkway. Nobunaga turns back to you. "Honestly, I pity you. Did you really think you stood a chance against my powerful Dragon types? Lucky for you, they've been battling quite hard so I'll use two of my other Pokémon." (You're kind of surprised that one single Gurdurr posed that much of a challenge for him that it exhausted his two strongest Pokémon...)

Out of the rooms behind him, a Metagross and Eelektross emerge, hovering menacingly behind him. "I'm in a generous mood, so I'll choose my Pokémon first. Let us take down all who would resist us, Eelektross!"
